Unable to move; stacks duration.

— In-game description

Immobile is a condition that prevents movement, turning, and dodging. When immobilized, characters will stop any current movement animation and be shown as bound by purple-tinted ethereal chains.

Victims can still attack targets in range, but any associated movement will be cancelled (e.g. an immobilized guardian can still activate Leap of Faith but will not move any distance using it). However, most teleportation and shadowstepping skills can still relocate the user if successfully activated. Immobilized deals Defiance bar damage at a rate of 50 per second. Immobile has a maximum duration of 10 seconds.

Notes[edit]

  • It is possible to become immobilized in mid-air, during this time, the player might constantly glitch up and down. This will also make most skills that can be used while immobile, unusable. Skills without activation time can still be used.
  • While the Immobile is supposed to prevent turning, if immobilize dealt to an NPC or a player that was not moving, it will not prevent them from automatically turning to face the target when a skill is used. But when used on a moving player, skills will fail to activate without automatically facing the target.

Player chatter[edit]

  • When the immobilized condition is applied to a character they will occasionally shout out one of the following lines, depending on their race and gender.
Race Gender
Male Female
Asura tango icon 20px.png Asura I've been immobilized! I can't move!
Charr tango icon 20px.png Charr I'm stuck! I can't move!

Version history[edit]

Patch Changes
June 27, 2023
  • Mirage can no longer dodge while immobilized or under the effects of crowd control.
May 11, 2021
  • Duration-stacking boons and conditions now behave consistently. They directly stack durations added from all sources, do not have hidden stack limits, and generally have shorter maximum durations. With most nondamaging condition durations stacking to a maximum of 10 seconds, we aim to reduce situations in which players can become stuck in combat because of a long-duration condition, preventing them from using their mount.
May 08, 2018
February 06, 2018
  • Immobilize now converts to 2 seconds of resistance.
December 10, 2013
  • Immobilize can now only stack 3 times.
October 15, 2013
  • Immobilize now stacks in duration to a maximum of five times.
May 17, 2013
  • Fixed a bug with Dodge roll where it could get stuck in the queue and unintentionally execute after a stun or immobilize.
August 28, 2012 Game release:
  • Immobile has been added to the game.

Trivia[edit]

  • This condition did not stack in duration until the October 13, 2013 game update, although the description stated it did long before.
