This is a list of core guardian skills. For additional skills available to guardian's elite specializations, see:

Note that after you've unlocked Weaponmaster Training, you can use all weapons that are normally tied to an elite specialization even if you don't have it active.

Profession mechanic[edit]

Virtues are the guardian's profession mechanic, occupying the F1F3 slots above the skill bar. Each one provides a continual passive effect, and they can be activated to provide a brief, but more powerful, effect to all nearby allies.

F3 Virtue of Courage.png Virtue of Courage 45 Virtue: Gain aegis periodically.
Activate: Grant aegis to yourself and nearby allies.

1 ChainWrathful Strike.png Wrathful Strike 0.5½ Attack with a final, powerful strike that applies might for each foe you strike.
2 Whirling Wrath.png Whirling Wrath 0.75¾ 8 Spin in place and swing your greatsword while hurling powerful projectiles.
3 Leap of Faith.png Leap of Faith 0.5½ 10 Leap at your foe. Inflicts blindness and heals you for each foe hit.
4 Symbol of Resolution.png Symbol of Resolution 0.25¼ 12 Symbol. Pierce the ground with a mystic symbol that damages foes while granting resolution to allies.
5 Binding Blade.png Binding Blade 0.75¾ 25 Throw blades at your foes, causing damage over time. Bound foes can be pulled to you. The effect ends when a foe moves out of range.
5 ChainPull (guardian skill).png Pull 0.75¾ Pull your foes to you.


1 Hammer Swing (guardian skill).png Hammer Swing 0.5½ Chain. Strike your foe.
1 ChainHammer Bash (guardian skill).png Hammer Bash 0.5½ Chain. Bash your foe.
1 ChainSymbol of Protection.png Symbol of Protection 1 Symbol. Smash a mystic symbol onto the ground that gives protection to you and your allies.
2 Mighty Blow.png Mighty Blow 0.75¾ 4 Damage nearby foes with a mighty ground slam. If your target has been struck by Banish, teleport to them.
3 Zealot's Embrace.png Zealot's Embrace 1 12 Send a wave toward your foe that immobilizes foes in a line. Gain barrier for each target struck. Barrier is reduced for each target struck beyond the first.
4 Banish.png Banish 1 15 Launch your foe with a powerful smash. Striking a foe refreshes Mighty Blow and allows your next Mighty Blow to teleport to that foe.
5 Ring of Warding.png Ring of Warding 0.75¾ 30 Ward. Create a ring around you that foes cannot cross. Trapped foes cannot exit the ring while it is active.


1 Bolt of Wrath.png Bolt of Wrath 0.5½ Fire a bolt that damages foes.
1 ChainSearing Light.png Searing Light 0.5½ Fire a projectile that explodes upon impact and damages enemies.
1 ChainSeeking Judgment.png Seeking Judgment 0.5½ Fire a seeking projectile that explodes upon contact and damages enemies.
2 Holy Strike.png Holy Strike 0.5½ 8 Mark an area for judgment, rapidly healing allies and then blasting foes in the area.
3 Symbol of Swiftness.png Symbol of Swiftness 0.75¾ 12 Symbol. Sear a mystic symbol into the target area, damaging foes and granting swiftness to allies.
4 Empower.png Empower 20.5½ 20 Channel healing and might to nearby allies. Completing this channel grants more health to your allies.
5 Line of Warding.png Line of Warding 1 30 Ward. Create a line in front of you that foes cannot cross.

1 Puncture Shot.png Puncture Shot 0.75¾ Fire an arrow that pierces enemies. If the arrow hits a second target, all enemies struck are crippled.
2 True Shot.png True Shot 0.75¾ 4 Charge up energy, creating a powerful attack that pierces through enemies.
3 Deflecting Shot.png Deflecting Shot 0.25¼ 10 Fire a missile that knocks back enemies and blocks missiles.
4 Symbol of Energy.png Symbol of Energy 0.5½ 12 Symbol. Fire a slow, arcing arrow that explodes on impact to burn targets and sear a symbol of energy into the ground.
5 Hunter's Ward.png Hunter's Ward 1 20 Form your arrows into a barrier, and deal damage at the location.

3 Protector's Strike.png Protector's Strike 30.75¾ 15 Protect allies from the next incoming attack against them, and lash out when attacked, granting boons to nearby allies and fully charging the passive burning effect.


1 Orb of Wrath.png Orb of Wrath 0.5½ Fire a slow-moving orb at your foe.
2 Symbol of Punishment.png Symbol of Punishment 0.25¼ 10 Symbol. Create a symbol on the ground that strikes foes and grants might to nearby allies.
3 Chains of Light.png Chains of Light 0.5½ 20 Immobilize and make your foe vulnerable with ethereal chains.

1 ChainSword Arc.png Sword Arc 0.5½ Chain. Slash your foe again.
1 ChainSword Wave.png Sword Wave 0.5½ Send out waves of attacks that strike multiple targets.
2 Symbol of Blades.png Symbol of Blades 8 Symbol. Teleport to your target, and blind nearby foes. Create a symbol at your feet that damages nearby enemies and benefits allies.
3 Zealot's Defense.png Zealot's Defense 0.5½ 12 Block ranged attacks while casting magical projectiles.

1 Core Cleave.png Core Cleave 0.5½ Cleave at your enemy with a physical and a magical axe.
1 ChainBleeding Edge.png Bleeding Edge 0.5½ Slice through your foe again, physically and magically, as your weapon is heating up.
1 ChainSearing Slash (firebrand).png Searing Slash 0.5½ Unleash your searing axe in an overhand slash, following it up with a magical edge.
2 Symbol of Vengeance.png Symbol of Vengeance 1 8 Symbol. Cleave your axe into the ground, reducing enemy movement and carving a razor-sharp symbol of vengeance.
3 Blazing Edge.png Blazing Edge 0.75¾ 12 Conjure a magical axe to rake your enemies toward you.

1 Through the Heart.png Through the Heart 0.5½ Fire a piercing shot that inflicts bleeding.
2 Peacekeeper.png Peacekeeper 10.5½ 6 Fire a beam of searing light that damages and burns all enemies in its path.
3 Symbol of Ignition.png Symbol of Ignition 0.25¼ 12 Symbol. Create a symbol that ignites when you strike an enemy inside it or shoot a projectile into it, damaging and burning enemies inside it. If the symbol is ignited by a projectile, it enchants that projectile to burn its target.
4 Hail of Justice.png Hail of Justice 10.25¼ 1 Shoot a volley of rapid-fire piercing shots that inflict bleeding and cripple.
5 Jurisdiction.png Jurisdiction 2 20 Charge up a ball of blue flame and activate this skill again to fire it. The ball damages, burns, and knocks targets it hits a short distance. Deals bonus defiance bar damage when fully charged. Projectile behavior changes slightly based on charge level.

4 Ray of Judgment.png Ray of Judgment 0.75¾ 20 Infuse your foe with the light of judgment, inflicting damage each interval if they are initially struck.
5 Shield of Wrath.png Shield of Wrath 35 Create a shield to block the next three attacks. If the shield is not destroyed, it explodes and damages nearby foes.


4 Shield of Judgment.png Shield of Judgment 0.5½ 20 Create a shielding wave in front of you that damages foes while giving protection and aegis to you and up to five allies.
5 Shield of Absorption.png Shield of Absorption 4 24 Create a dome around you that pushes foes back and absorbs projectiles.
5 ChainShield of Absorption (sequence).png Shield of Absorption Detonate the dome to heal nearby allies.


4 Zealot's Flame.png Zealot's Flame 15 Set yourself alight, periodically burning up to three nearby foes. The final pulse applies additional burning.
4 ChainZealot's Fire.png Zealot's Fire 0.75¾ Throw your Zealot's Flame to damage the targeted foe.
5 Cleansing Flame.png Cleansing Flame 30.25¼ 15 Breathe magical flames that damage foes and cure conditions on allies. Inflicts burning on the final attack.

4 Executioner's Calling.png Executioner's Calling 0.75¾ 12 Strike your foe with rending force. Follow up this attack with a dual strike that deals increased damage against foes you struck with the first.
5 Advancing Strike.png Advancing Strike 0.5½ 20 Quickly dash toward your foe and then shadowstep to deliver a debilitating attack that first slows and then immobilizes your enemies.

3 Brilliance.png Brilliance 0.75¾ 15 Blind all nearby foes.
4 Symbol of Spears.png Symbol of Spears 0.5½ 20 Symbol. Create a spear wall in front of you that damages foes that remain in its area.
5 Wrathful Grasp.png Wrathful Grasp 0.5½ 25 Throw a spear and pull your foe to you, burning them.


1 Light Ball.png Light Ball 0.5½ Fire a sundering ball of light that damages foes.
1 ChainDetonate Light.png Detonate Light 0.5½ Fire a ball of light that detonates on impact to heal allies and damage foes.
1 ChainJudgment of Light.png Judgment of Light 0.75¾ Fire a barrage of bouncing light missiles that damage enemies and heal allies.
2 Purify.png Purify 0.5½ 12 Release an orb of cleansing light that cures conditions on allies it passes through and detonates on enemies struck. Burns foes and cures conditions on allies within the blast radius.
2 ChainBrilliance.png Purifying Blast 8 Detonate the orb to burn foes and cure conditions on allies in the blast radius.
3 Symbol of Light.png Symbol of Light 0.5½ 15 Symbol. Create a pillar of light that does damage every second at your foe's location.
4 Refraction.png Refraction 0.5½ 20 Create a bubble that blocks enemy missiles and grants resolution to allies.
5 Weight of Justice.png Weight of Justice 1 25 Sink your foe with the weight of justice, inflicting damage continuously.
Damage ceases if the stun is broken.

Sanctuary.png Sanctuary 1 40 Consecration. Form a protective healing shelter for allies. Block foes and their missiles from entering.
Wall of Reflection.png Wall of Reflection Not available underwater 20 Consecration. Summon a barrier of mystic power that reflects projectiles.


Contemplation of Purity.png Contemplation of Purity 32 Meditation. Convert the conditions you are suffering from into boons.
Judge's Intervention.png Judge's Intervention 32 Meditation. Teleport to your target and burn nearby foes.
Merciful Intervention.png Merciful Intervention 25 Meditation. Shadowstep to an ally in the targeted area and heal around them. If no ally is present in the targeted area, this ability will not shadowstep.
Smite Condition.png Smite Condition 16 Meditation. Cure conditions and damage nearby foes. Deal more damage if a condition is cured.
