Move It has been suggested that this article, Poison, be moved to Poisoned because: "That is the actual in-game name of the condition. Probably renamed in an update.".

Deals damage every second; decreases healing effectiveness by 33%; damage stacks intensity.

— In-game description

Poison is a condition that inflicts damage over time and stacks intensity, however the heal potency decrease is unaffected by the number of stacks on a foe, which can stack up to 1500 times. Characters suffering from poison appear green tinted. Damage is determined by the following formula:
(0.06 * Condition Damage) + (0.375 * Level) + 3.5 damage per stack per second,
(0.06 * Condition Damage) + 33.5 damage per stack per second at level 80.

Version history[edit]

Patch Changes
June 23, 2015 Specialization update:
  • All damage conditions will now stack up to 1500 times.
  • This condition will now stack in intensity.
  • Poison's healing reduction will not depend on the number of stacks. Any poison will result in a static -33%, just as it currently does.
  • The formula for this condition has been rescaled to account for the new behavior of damaging conditions and to put more focus on the condition damage stat.
  • New damage over time: 3.5 + (0.375 * Level) + (0.06 * Condition Damage)
March 19, 2015
  • Updated condition damage. Previously, a condition that had a fractional remainder of time after it dealt damage would not inflict the rest of its damage.
  • For example, a 1.5-second burn would deal 1 second of burning damage, then fail to inflict the remaining 0.5 seconds of burning.
  • Conditions will now deal this fractional damage either at the beginning or end of their duration, depending on when the next damage pulse would occur and their remaining duration.
August 28, 2012 Game release:
  • Poison has been added to the game.

Gwwlogo.png The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on Poison.
  • Prior to the G-Star Demo, this condition stacked in intensity but not duration.
  • At the G-Star Demo, multiple applications of this condition increased its duration instead.[1]
  • This condition was changed to stack in intensity since the June 23, 2015 game update.
