Trivia

• Klobjarne was released with the first content update for Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds, Godspawn.
• The name Klobjarne is most likely derived from Old Norse kló and bjǫrn, which mean "claw" and "bear", respectively.
• Its variant names generally refer to different spears or polearm weapons:
  • Geirr is Old Norse for "spear".
  • Atgeir and kesja refer to a glaive or halberd. Atgeir is a derivative of geirr above, and kesja is a loanword from the Proto-Celtic gaisos / Celtic-Latin gaesum for "javelin".
  • Darr loosely means "javelin", sharing the same root with the word "dart".
  • Frakka refers to a spear or lance. This word is where the Frank people derive their name from.
  • Hler is the only one that does not directly refer to a polearm weapon. Hlér is the Old Norse name for the sea.
