Lowland kodan watching over their settlement.

Despite the region being viciously dangerous and inhospitable, they are expert survivalists and have carved out a comfortable—even cozy—way of life in these lands. All lowlanders are capable fighters and learn survival tactics from the time they are cubs. The wayfinder will spend much of their time in Janthir learning about—and learning from—the lowlanders, as they have much to teach.

Official site

Lowland kodan (also known as the bearkin[1][2] or lowlanders[3][4]) are kodan who have lived on Lowland Shore for many generations. Unlike the kodan that settled in the Shiverpeak Mountains, the kodan of Janthir have long separated from their reverence for Koda. Instead, they have turned to the nature they are surrounded by to guide their relationship with the world—the sun and all the benefits life seizes from it included.[5]

The lowland kodan, a subrace of the kodan, originated when a group of their kind migrated south from the previous dragonrise of the Elder Dragons Jormag millennia ago, Jormag's influence expanded across the Shiverpeaks, forcing various races, including the kodan, to confront the dragon’s power.[6]

The Southward Claw, the Claw of his tribe and his mate, the Voice, fled southward. Along the way, the Voice, affected by the Rage of Koda, eventually left them. At the end, the group had ended up to settled in the warmer, fertile regions of the Lowland Shore, becoming the ancestors of the lowland kodan who would move from place to place around the Janthir region where they built peaceful communities centered around natural hot springs and forests. Over time, they developed a distinct culture focused on spirituality, ancestor worship, and maintaining harmony with nature. As guardians of the land. Throughout their history, the Lowland Kodan have remained dedicated to preserving the balance of nature and protecting their peaceful way of life.[7]

After the loss of the Voice during the journey southward, the kodan of the Southward Claw faced a period of uncertainty and disarray, as the traditional balance between the Voice and the Claw was broken. This left a void in their spiritual leadership, forcing the community to adapt, they established the Lowland Kodan Council, a collective leadership body composed of several heads of established disciplines, or masters. The council replaced the centralized authority of the Voice, offering a collaborative approach to guidance and decision-making along with the claw. The story of the Voice's loss remains a somber reminder of their journey’s hardships, but also a testament to their ability to survive and thrive amidst profound challenges.[7][8]

In 1165 AE, Jormag rose once again somewhere beyond the Far Shiverpeaks in the latest dragonrise, creating a years-long Dragonstorm as they began creating icebrood and pushing south. Waiting Sorrow returned to the lowland kodan, plagued by fragmented visions of her past life and guilt for abandoning her bearkin. Adopting the identity of a healer named Fading Aurora, she has settled among the lowland kodan of Harvest Den and has earned a place in their council. She later became the mentor of Poised Arrow, son of Stoic Alder—the current Claw who lost his wife due to Jormag's influence.
