Portable exchanger
Portable exchangers are gizmos that provide rewards in exchange for a currency or item. Many have a maximum limit for uses or transactions per day. Using multiple copies of the item will not allow more trades, as all copies of an item share the same limit for an account.
List of portable exchangers[edit]
Converters[edit]
Most converters (commonly referred to as gobblers) open a vendor interface with only one option, which trades crafting materials or currencies for a goodie bag. This interface enables the direct usage of materials located in the bank and material storage.
All of these gizmos are unique in the sense they allow conversions that are not available through other means.
Festival gobblers share many similarities with other converters, such as being able to draw materials directly from the bank, but are distinctly different in that they are acquired from the Gem Store and primarily used for their booster effects.
- A Input is consumed directly without the vendor interface intermediary, as they use currencies, which are already available without a bank.
- B Multiple options are available to choose from.
Portable vendors[edit]
Unlike the converters, these gizmos provide exchanges already available from a vendor in the game world. As such they serve as quality-of-life items to remove the need to travel.

Condensed exchanger[edit]
- Primary article: Wizard's Gobbler
The Wizard's Gobbler was introduced to reduce the bag space required for all the portable exchangers, and combines all converters and portable merchants into one gizmo. It uses a dialogue tree to select which exchanger to access, limited to the ones unlocked in the Gobblers and Exchanges Collector collection. Daily limits are shared with the original exchanger.
- In addition to the other available exchangers, the Wizard's Gobbler also offers an exchange option from Tyrn Ironmaw’s inventory, where players can exchange items using
Tyrian Defense Seals.
Trivia[edit]
- The first portable exchanger introduced into the game was Mawdrey II, primarily to drain the surplus of Piles of Bloodstone Dust acquired by accounts.
- Crafting material converters are called "gobblers" internally by the ArenaNet team.[1]
- Arenanet updated many of the material converters functionality in the March 19th, 2024 update.
- Prior to this most crafting material converters (except the Gleam of Sentience) as well as the Candy Corn Gobbler did not use the vendor interface and instead required their respective materials to be in your inventory to be used.
- Previously the Candy Corn Gobbler could not be used more than once approximately every 5 seconds, which lead to some players resorting to using macros while AFK to accumulate boosts. Since you can now purchase multiple boosts in the vendor interface instantly this is no longer required.
- An unintended change with the Candy Corn Gobbler after the update caused it to provide significantly less amount of the EXP buff than before. This was found to be an unintended bug fix of the old behavior, Arenanet rectified this and replicated the old behavior the following day in the March 20th, 2024 update [2]
- Mawdrey II, Princess and Star of Gratitude previously had a variable daily use limit of 3-6, this was standardised to 5 with the update as the vendor interface cannot provide variable usage limits. This should provide an average net positive in the amount of rewards given over time compared to before.
