Portable exchanger
Portable exchangers (commonly referred to as gobblers, or converters) are a type of gizmo that provides bonus rewards in exchange for a currency or item. Many converters have a maximum limit for uses or transactions per day. Once used up, players must wait until the server reset to obtain more rewards. Using multiple copies of the item will not allow access to additional rewards, since all copies of an item share the same limit for an account.
List of portable exchangers[edit]
Most of these portable exchangers open a vendor interface with only one option, they consume crafting materials or currencies from your inventory and material storage, producing an instant reward such as booster effects or packaged goods.
Unique exchangers[edit]
The functionality of these portable exchangers is unique, and that's the reason why these are commonly referred to as gobblers, or converters.
Non-unique portable exchangers[edit]
Unlike how other portable exchangers work, these are always available from the game through interacting with the originated merchant of those items.

Trivia[edit]
- The first portable exchangers introduced into the game was Mawdrey II, primarily to drain the surplus of Piles of Bloodstone Dust acquired by accounts.
- Crafting material converters are called "gobblers" internally by the ArenaNet team.[1]
- Arenanet updated many of the material converters functionality in the March 19th, 2024 update.
- Prior to this most crafting material converters (except the Gleam of Sentience) as well as the Candy Corn Gobbler did not use the vendor interface and instead required their respective materials to be in your inventory to be used.
- Previously the Candy Corn Gobbler could not be used more than once approximately every 5 seconds, which lead to some players resorting to using macros while AFK to accumulate boosts. Since you can now purchase multiple boosts in the vendor interface instantly this is no longer required.
- An unintended change with the Candy Corn Gobbler after the update caused it to provide significantly less amount of the EXP buff than before. This was found to be an unintended bug fix of the old behavior, Arenanet rectified this and replicated the old behavior the following day in the March 20th, 2024 update [2]
- Mawdrey II, Princess and Star of Gratitude previously had a variable daily use limit of 3-6, this was standardised to 5 with the update as the vendor interface cannot provide variable usage limits. This should provide an average net positive in the amount of rewards given over time compared to before.
