Utility skill

Skill Tiers

Utility skill is a term used to describe the skills that fit in the three non-specific slots on the skill bar.[1] They consist mostly of profession skills, but some racial skills are utility skills as well. They are unlocked using skill points, that are gained from different skill challenges and from gaining levels. They vary in cost from 1 point for basic utility and healing skills, up to 30 points for certain elite skills. Once a skill has been unlocked, it can be equipped at any time outside of combat.

Utility skills are separated into three tiers. In order to gain access to the next tier of skills, the player must first unlock at least five skills of the current tier. This provides players some time to experiment with various skills as their character develops.[2]
