Legendary weapons are weapons of Legendary rarity. Like all legendary equipment, these weapons allow freely changing their attribute combinations and swap sigils, and can be equipped simultaneously on all characters on the account through the Legendary Armory. Additionally, they feature unique appearance and visual effects and allow changing their skins without spending Transmutation Charges. Legendary weapons have the same level of attributes as ascended weapons.
Legendary weapons are crafted in the Mystic Forge using a precursor weapon and the Gift of the Legendary Weapon associated with the desired end result, plus two other Gifts of Fortune and Mastery shared by other weapons of the same generation.
Legendary weapons are divided into generations based on their date of release and the content they are tied to through their achievements and crafting components. Weapons of the first generation were available at the launch of Guild Wars 2, second – released individually during the Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire expansion cycles, and the third generation was introduced with the End of Dragons expansion. The first and the second generation feature custom visual design for every weapon. The third generation was introduced as a thematic collection with additional sets of unlockable skins in the style of each Elder Dragon.
List of legendary weapons[edit]
The following table lists all legendary weapons along with the components needed to craft them. Weapons that use Mystic Tribute as a fortune gift require the Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire expansion.
Generation 1[edit]
- Crafting disciplines required to be trained to at least 400 on the account in order to craft some of the components.
- Eternity is a special legendary weapon in that it has neither a precursor weapon nor does it require any legendary gift on its own. Instead, it is constructed by combining two other legendary greatswords, Sunrise and Twilight.
Generation 2[edit]
Generation 3[edit]
Generation 3 Variants[edit]
Each third generation weapon has a series of additional variant skins that can be unlocked, themed in the style of each Elder dragon. Each Legendary weapon variant requires the unlocked skin of the corresponding Aurene-themed legendary weapon and the completion of a repeatable collection, once per skin.
- Zhaitan variants can be purchased with a Fragment of Prismatic Shadows after finishing the collection Aurene's Facet of Shadows.
- Mordremoth variants can be purchased with a Fragment of Prismatic Plant after finishing the collection Aurene's Facet of Plant.
- Kralkatorrik variants can be purchased with a Fragment of Prismatic Fury after finishing the collection Aurene's Facet of Crystal.
- Jormag variants can be purchased with a Fragment of Prismatic Persuasion after finishing the collection Aurene's Facet of Persuasion.
- Primordus variants can be purchased with a Fragment of Prismatic Fire after finishing the collection Aurene's Facet of Fire.
- Soo-Won variants can be purchased with a Fragment of Prismatic Life after finishing the collection Aurene's Facet of Life.
Standalone Weapons[edit]
Name | Weapon type | Expansion | Crafting | Precursor weapon | Legendary weapon gift | Fortune gift | Mastery gift | TP sell price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Klobjarne Geirr1 | Spear | 2 | Nyr Hrammr | Gift of Klobjarne Geirr | Gift of the Homesteader | Gift of Janthir Wilds | … |
- Klobjarne Geirr also has several variant skins that are all unlocked by binding the legendary to your account: Klobjarne Atgeir, Klobjarne Darr, Klobjarne Kesja, Klobjarne Frakka, Klobjarne Hler
- Weaponsmith discipline required to be trained to 500 on the account in order to craft Deldrimor Steel Spear Head and Large Spiritwood Haft.
Components[edit]
Legendary weapons require a large variety of different materials and other items to craft, both tradeable and account bound. Specific components depend on the generation of the weapon as well as on the weapon itself.
Generation 1[edit]
First generation legendary weapons require a precursor weapon, a legendary weapon gift determined by the weapon being crafted, plus a Gift of Fortune and a Gift of Mastery. All three gifts are created in the Mystic Forge by combining other items, as shown by the following table.
It is a good idea to start by making the Gift of Mastery, and then producing Mystic Clovers, because this will also generate materials required for the Gifts of Magic and Might, and potentially the gifts specific to each legendary.
- This item varies with each legendary weapon.
- Also requires you to have characters that have mastered the respective crafting disciplines. The finished Gifts are account bound, which allows you to craft them on different characters.
- Chance to get a precursor varies with rarity and level.[1]
Generation 2[edit]
Second generation legendary weapons are crafted in the Mystic Forge by combining a precursor weapon, a gift tied to the particular legendary, plus the Gift of Maguuma Mastery (or Gift of Desert Mastery for some weapons) and the Mystic Tribute. For the first four second generation legendaries, many of the components have to be acquired in the Heart of Maguuma, and each precursor weapon is Account Bound and can only be acquired by completing three collections in the Legendary Weapons category. These collections are unlocked through the Scholar of Secrets mastery, along with a subsequent collection required to get one of the subcomponents for the legendary weapon gift.
For the mace Eureka, and all generation 2 legendary weapons released after it, the process of legendary crafting is slightly changed.[2] There are no more themed precursor collections, but instead recipes used to craft the different tiers of the precursor can be purchased directly from Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs (if the corresponding Legendary Crafting mastery has been unlocked). Furthermore, the new legendary weapon gifts require Mystic Runestones instead of Icy Runestones.
- This item varies with each legendary weapon.
- A recipe sheet must be bought from Miyani for 10 .
- A Gift of Desert Mastery can be used instead of the Gift of Maguuma Mastery for all second generation legendary weapons, with the exception of Astralaria, Chuka and Champawat, Nevermore, and HOPE.
- When crafting Legendary Shards for a main-handed or two-handed weapon, it may be cheaper to convert off-handed shards by crafting Enormous Chest of Legendary Shards.
Generation 3[edit]
- This item varies with each legendary weapon.
- One free precursor can be earned through the Seasons of the Dragons meta achievement (Tier 2: Fragment of Prismatic Light) and exchanging the fragment at Leivas.
- A recipe can be selected from Codex of Dragon's Weapons after completion of the story step The Cycle, Reborn (once per account). Further recipes can be purchased from Leivas for 35,000 + 10 Tales of Adventure. The recipes for the precursors include the recipes for the fortified precursor components and the Transcendent Crystal.

Notes[edit]
- Footprints of a legendary equipped in the main hand will override any footprints of a legendary equipped in the offhand.
- "Footprints" can also be generated by a headbutt on the underside of ledges when affected by Cosmic Energy
- There are no underwater weapons among the second or third generation legendaries. [3]
- Based on a book found in the Mythwright Gambit raid, it is possible that Zommoros is the designer of legendary weapons which are received from the Mystic Forge.
- Legendary weapons cannot be salvaged nor sold to vendors.
- Legendary weapons could not swap infusions nor sigils until October 30th, 2018.
- Removing the sigil of the legendary weapon will account-bind it and add it to the legendary armory. A pop-up message will inform you and confirm it.
- Deleting a legendary weapon will unlock its skin. [4]
- Generation 3 legendary weapons have two unique "features" not shared with previous generations: 1) They have a special "kill effect" that sometimes triggers upon defeating an enemy, and 2) They have secondary, unlockable skins themed for the elder dragons.
- Players can experience enhanced previews of Generation 3 legendaries when playing The Only One story chapter of End of Dragons, as your weapon is transformed into the corresponding Generation 3 legendary (with the base Aurene skin variant). In particular, this in-game preview gives a better sense of the weapon trail compared to viewing the standard preview window.
