Party Invitation

Dear <Character name>,

Please join us at the Dead End bar in Divinity's Reach for a celebration of our victory over Scarlet. We'd really love it if you could attend. Rox and Braham have already sent an RSVP in the form of a bottle of charr whiskey and a keg of norn beer. You don't have to bring anything but your smile. Though you'll probably want to wear a bit more than that.

The Dead End[edit]

Entering the instance
Marjory Delaqua: Look who's here.
Braham Eirsson: Greetings, my friend.
Rox: We're celebrating Scarlet's demise. It's good you could make it.
Braham Eirsson: Ngg. Ow.
Rox: Will you relax, Braham? Sit down. If you keep standing on that leg...
Marjory Delaqua: Better ease up on that leg, B, or it won't heal right.
Braham Eirsson: It doesn't hurt anymore.
Kasmeer Meade: Is that why you make that bear noise every time you sit down?
Braham Eirsson: That's just the Spirit moving in me.
Rox: Ha! Ha ha! Nice one, Braham!
Everyone cheers.
Marjory Delaqua: A toast! To the hero of the hour and all.
Braham Eirsson: AroooOOOooo!
Marjory Delaqua: Aw yeah.
Rox: Woo!
Kasmeer Meade: Yay! (laugh)
Marjory Delaqua: So, tell me. How did it feel to stomp the evil snot out of Scarlet?
Talking with Marjory
Marjory Delaqua: So tell us. How did it feel when you finished Scarlet for good. But don't make me laugh. My ribs are still sore.
Ferocity I finally understood the meaning of "kuh-Braham!"
Charisma Not as sweet as a kiss. (wink)
Dignity Like pulling a dandelion and getting the whole root.
Marjory Delaqua: Oh no, you did not just... (laugh)
Taimi: Hi! What's so funny?
Braham Eirsson: Hey, who let the rabbit out of its cage?
Taimi: That's not funny.
Kasmeer Meade: Join us, Taimi. We're celebrating our victory over Scarlet. Would you like some juice?
Taimi: I suppose we should celebrate while we still can.
Taimi walks further in.
Rox: What's that supposed to mean?
Taimi: Nothing.
Braham Eirsson: C'mon, kid. What are you talking about?
Taimi walks next to the group.
Taimi: You know, don't you? Scarlet wasn't just fooling around.
Taimi points at <character name>.
Kasmeer Meade: You know something? Tell us.
Talking with Kasmeer
Kasmeer Meade: Don't hold anything back. We're all ears. You know Scarlet better than any of us. After all, you killed her. So, what's Taimi talking about?
Talk more option tango.png I think all of Tyria heard that dragon's cry.
Is that what you think it was? A dragon? Oh, it would make so much sense to think that Scarlet was messing with the dragons.
Talk more option tango.png I believe that was her plan all along. Her drill caused one of them to stir.
Yes, we heard it too. Which one do you think it was? Primordus? Kralkatorrik? Jormag? Do you think one is sleeping beneath Lion's Arch?
Talk more option tango.png No. I think Scarlet disturbed the ley lines, knowing they feed the dragons.
I don't understand.
Talk more option tango.png The dragons consume magic. The ley lines are currents in an ocean of magic.
And Scarlet threw a giant rock in that pool, sending ripples out to the dragon. It makes sense. You're brilliant.
Talk quest option tango.png I've been crafting this theory and assembling the pieces for a while now.
Talk end option tango.png You will. We have an active dragon on our hands, thanks to Scarlet.
Talk end option tango.png I don't know, and it doesn't matter. They're all dangerous.
Talk end option tango.png She loved tempting fate.
Marjory walks over to the bar.
Marjory Delaqua: Much as I loathe to even entertain the idea, I do believe you're right.
Kasmeer Meade: And here we thought Scarlet was the worst of our problems.
Braham Eirsson: I'm not afraid of no dragon.
Rox: Braham. (sigh) I'll have to take you to the Brand sometime. No single warrior can stand alone against a dragon.
Taimi: Fortunately, we have each other.
Marjory Delaqua: (laugh)
Kasmeer Meade: (laugh)
Braham Eirsson: (laugh)
Rox: (laugh)
Taimi: What?
Braham Eirsson: With you on our team, Squeak, how could we possibly lose?
Braham Eirsson: (groan)
Kasmeer Meade: Who let that bear in here?
Braham Eirsson: (laugh) (groan) Oh, don't make me laugh.
Marjory Delaqua: Hey, that's my line.
Rox: We better feed that bear before it decides we're food.
Marjory Delaqua: I requested a roast chicken from the kitchen. We'll eat soon.
Belinda walks into the bar.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Little Miss Marjie. Have you any idea how difficult you've been making my life? Mother never shuts up about you.
Marjory Delaqua: I told you to never call me that.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: (laugh) You told me lots of things, sis.
Kasmeer Meade: Sis? Jory? Is this your sister?
Marjory Delaqua: Yes. Come on in, Belinda. Say hello to my friends.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: It would be my pleasure.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Hi, Marjory's friends. You're the band that took out Scarlet. I'm honored to meet you all.
Braham Eirsson: Ngg. Ow.
Braham sits down, Taimi sits next to him.
Braham Eirsson: (groan)
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Congratulations on killing Scarlet. That sylvari was trouble with a capital T.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: So, how are you? You're looking a little skinny.
Marjory Delaqua: (laugh) Oh gods, don't tell Momma that. Besides, look at you. Getting fat in that cushy new Seraph post of yours?
Kasmeer Meade: Oh, I don't think she's fat at all.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Why, thank you. My sister's always been jealous of my voluptuous figure. She used to call me Big Beli.
Marjory Delaqua: Only because you called me Little Miss Marjie, like I was some snooty noble or something.
Kasmeer Meade: Oh!
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: You were snooty.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Marjory used to order me and all the other kids around, even though she was the youngest.
Kasmeer rejoins Rox, Taimi, and Braham.
Marjory Delaqua: What's this about Momma fretting?
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Oh, you know how she gets. And when she heard you'd been in the fight against Scarlet, well…
Marjory Delaqua: She sent you to check on me.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: I'm to report back this evening.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: I can't stay long, my dear. I'm just here to count your limbs and listen to your heart. So, how is your heart?
Marjory Delaqua: Strong as ever. What do you think of Kasmeer?
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: She's beautiful. And charming. But, isn't she from a noble family?
Marjory Delaqua: She used to be. Her family lost its titles under…tragic circumstances. She's one of us now. She works for me.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: I see. Well, in that case, I wish you and her every happiness. I can see that you care deeply for her.
Marjory Delaqua: Yes, I do.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Congratulations! I'm happy for you.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: I heard you dealt the killing blow to Scarlet. You have my respect and gratitude.
Talking with Belinda
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Marjie's told me a lot about you. She really respects you, you know? I appreciate that you've got her back. She's always been such a loner.
Talk more option tango.png We have a good team. So, you're a Seraph, huh?
That's right. I'm posted at Fort Salma. But, in a week, they're sending me on a long expedition into the Brisban Wildlands. I came home to see my mother before we leave.
Talk more option tango.png That's a lot of adventure for a Seraph, isn't it?
Yes, it is. But we're after a group of black-market traders who've been disrupting the economy here in the city. Our reports say that's where they're headquartered.
Talk end option tango.png Safe journey then.
Talk end option tango.png That's a dangerous territory. Safe journey.
Talk end option tango.png We're a ragtag bunch, but we take care of each other.
Seraph Belinda Delaqua: Good-bye, everyone. It was so nice to meet you all.
Rox: Until we meet again.
Belinda leaves the bar, leaving a note behind on a table.
Braham Eirsson: Did you get in trouble for roaming the camp?
Taimi: No. Yes. Zojja gave me extra calculations as a punishment, and I never got to see Scarlet.
Braham Eirsson: Sounds like Zojja cares about you.
Taimi: No, she doesn't. She cares about her record. If I do well, it reflects positively on her as my college mentor.
(pause)
Braham Eirsson: So you don't like Zojja's college?
Taimi: I was not designed to be in Synergetics. I was designed for Statics.
Braham Eirsson: I don't know what that means.
Taimi: It means I'd rather make stuff than talk about making stuff.
Braham Eirsson: Oh. Yeah. Me too.
(pause)
Taimi: Must be nice to have a sister.
A cutscene pans out of the bar, displaying "To be continued…", ending the instance and making the rewards appear.

Additional dialogue[edit]

Taimi: Hey, Braham.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Taimi: You wanna hear about the new aetherphaser I invented for my golem? I modeled it after Scarlet's tech.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Taimi: It works just fine, but I have to keep adjusting the gorometer.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Taimi: I had to shave down the minious array wheel in order to get it to fit on Scruffy, but I got it.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Taimi: Next, I'm gonna make him a panmetric listening device so he can warn me in advance if someone's sneaking up on me.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Taimi: Hey, Braham.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Taimi: I like you because you're big and dumb.
Braham Eirsson: Uh-huh.
Braham Eirsson: (laugh) Shut up!
Taimi: (giggle)
Talking with allies
Marjory Delaqua: I personally reported your victory over Scarlet to Logan Thackeray. He sends his regards.
Talk more option tango.png That was kind of you.
It was purely selfish. For the first time in my life, I actually feel sincere when I brag about the people I fight beside. I never felt that in the Ministry Guard.
Talk more option tango.png Why did you quit the Guard anyway?
That's a long story, perhaps for another day. I'll just say that I overstayed my welcome.
Talk more option tango.png Did they kick you out.
No, I quit of my own accord. I guess I couldn't take the political games anymore. I'm a simple woman. Right and wrong. Truth and lies. I'm not a fan of gray.
Talk end option tango.png Their loss is our gain.
Talk end option tango.png I see.
Talk end option tango.png I see.
(if human)
He actually went on for some time about how impressed he is with your progress and how he "knew you when." I thought, for a second, I'd have to hand him my handkerchief.
Talk more option tango.png For all his tough talk, he's a big softy inside.
Don't let him hear you say that. He'll be scarred for life.
Talk end option tango.png Dwayna preserve us.
Talk end option tango.png What can I say? He likes me a little.
Talk end option tango.png Noted.
Kasmeer Meade: The whole dragon thing has me a little sick to my stomach. Why can't they just go back to sleep?
Talk more option tango.png It's complicated. Say, are those your roses?
Yes. Isn't Jory sweet? She got them for me. Because she's proud of how I stood up to Scarlet.
Talk more option tango.png As she should be. How are you after all that?
Marvelous! I still can't believe it was me. And you, you were amazing. We fielded everything she threw at us. It was like we were of one mind.
Talk more option tango.png I couldn't have done it without you.
Oh, sure you could have. All I did was distract her a bit. You're the one she was really afraid of.
Talk more option tango.png Feels good to overcome evil.
I never thought, until I met Jory and you, that I'd be the kind of person who'd overcome evil. I've noticed something though. My hiccups are gone.
Talk end option tango.png You're braver than you think.
Talk end option tango.png Now, we just have to deal with her mess.
Talk end option tango.png I feel the same.
Talk end option tango.png I'm proud of you too.
Talk end option tango.png We'll have to sing them a proper lullaby.
Rox: I bet you're wondering why Frostbite and I are hiding out in a human bar in a human city.
Talk more option tango.png Not really. I'm here too.
Well, since you asked. Frostbite is afraid to report to Rytlock. Since we didn't actually help kill Scarlet, exactly. I've been ignoring his summons.
Talk more option tango.png Why are you afraid? Surely he'll understand.
It's a charr thing. Technically, he could gut me for disobeying an order.
Talk more option tango.png What? You mean court-martial, right?
No. I mean it's within his rights to kill me on the spot for disobeying his direct order. And besides, I'm going to have to tell him, I don't want to be in his warband. I'm doomed.
Talk end option tango.png You need to face him eventually.
(if charr)
Talk more option tango.png Technically, he could gut you for disobeying and order.
Shhh. Not in front of Frostbite. I know. Do you think he'd do that? I mean...make an example of me? I let him down.
Talk more option tango.png You fought your way to Scarlet's doorstep.
Yeah, I wish that counted for something. But...the truth is...when I chose to stay with Braham, I knew then that I didn't want to be in the Stone warband.
Talk more option tango.png You realize what you're giving up, right?
Of course, I do. But I'd be giving up even more if I left these people.
Talk end option tango.png You'll have to face up to it sooner or later.
Talk end option tango.png Hang in there, Frostbite.
Talk end option tango.png I know why you're here. Because we're here.
Taimi: I told you so. I told you all. I knew Scarlet had grand plans, but did you listen? No. And now, there's at least one dragon, maybe more, who want to destroy all of Tyria.
Talk more option tango.png You also told us Scarlet was fascinating.
I didn't lie. She was. Okay, maybe I underestimated just how dangerous she was, but that's a minor thing. I just wanted to see her lab and maybe be her apprentice for a while.
Talk more option tango.png She'd have killed you.
I know that. That's why I didn't do it, silly.
Talk end option tango.png You were right about her grand plans, though.
Talk end option tango.png Mind your manners.
Braham Eirsson: You really believe that stuff about Scarlet poking the dragon?
Talk more option tango.png Yeah, I do.
Taimi: Well, you've got it right. Scarlet wanted to touch the dragons, and she succeeded. Quite impressive when you think about it.
Talk more option tango.png I have a theory about why, but what do you think?
Why do our greatest minds ever do anything? In order to know, to learn, and to understand.
Talk more option tango.png I think she was more practical than she let on.
Braham Eirsson: Or more crazy. I'm gonna guess she was hoping to make a dragon or two mad so they would attack. Don't matter. All that matters is she's dead now.
Talk more option tango.png How's your leg?
It's okay. Better. I'm ignoring it. My legend is in the bog, and I can't believe I have to wait for this leg to get better. It's making me as crazy as Scarlet.
Talk more option tango.png Your legend isn't in the bog.
Sure it is. I might as well be starting from scratch. I'll go down in history as the guy who couldn't hold his own in the fight against Scarlet.
Talk end option tango.png Not true. One fight doesn't make or break a legend.
Talk end option tango.png And good riddance.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
Talk end option tango.png I'm not impressed.
Talk end option tango.png It's too soon to tell.

My Story[edit]

The Dead End (instance) loading screen.jpg

Some days had passed since Scarlet's demise, and while the battle was won, we all heard the echoing roar that shook the foundations of Tyria. Ominous signs aside, Kasmeer invited me to a little gathering at the Dead End Bar. The whole gang was there, even Taimi. She was up in arms about Scarlet, the drill, the ley lines; all of it. When I finally spoke with Kasmeer, she touched on the topic on all our minds—we were dealing with a new Elder Dragon. The sobering moment was interrupted by the arrival of a Seraph soldier: Belinda Delaqua, Marjory's sister. The two of them caught up a little after introductions, but Belinda didn't stay long; she was headed west to a new assignment near the Maguuma Wastes.
