Her Majesty Queen Jennah

You Are Invited to the Jubilee Closing Ceremony

By Royal Proclamation,

Queen Jennah's Jubilee will conclude with a closing ceremony in Divinity's Reach. Her Majesty will be in attendance, along with her esteemed guests and emissaries from across Tyria.

Her Majesty will close the festivities with remarks at the new coliseum, built on the former site of the Great Collapse in Divinity's Reach.

May the Six Gods watch over you, and may they continue to bless the benevolent Queen of Kryta.

Talking with allies
Logan Thackeray: Forgive me. I'm preoccupied with Her Majesty's safety. I'm sure you understand.
Talk end option tango.png Everything seems secure for the moment, at least.
Braham Eirsson: Keep following me around like this, and you'll end up in all those songs the skaalds will sing about me someday.
Talk end option tango.png Good to see you again, Braham.
Rox: Good to have you here. Can you nudge me if I start to nod off during Her Majesty's speech?
Talk end option tango.png I think I can handle that.
Approaching Braham and Rox
Braham: I like this party. It's not quite a Cragstead moot, but Krytans definitely know how to stage a celebratory fight.
Rox: Sadly, we have to stop fighting for now. It's almost time for the closing ceremonies, and I'm expected. Official duties and all.
Braham: Oh, good: another speech. I'll go and listen, but when she's done talking, I'm back to beating on those mechanical men.
Cutscene
Queen Jennah: Thank you all for coming. This event is ending, but humanity's resolve will never waver.
Queen Jennah: We have withstood every challenge thrown at us. Because unity is our strength. Together, there is nothing we cannot withstand.
Scarlet Briar: Aaaaand that's my cue. Hello, DR! My name is Scarlet, and I've come to play with you.
Scarlet Briar: Don't panic...yet. I've been laughing my leaves off while your queen brays about "trials" and "endurance."
Scarlet Briar: It's time to show how fragile human society is. To wit: these "watchknights" you're so proud of? Mine now.
Scarlet Briar: I've also planted a few bombs around the city to keep things lively. Bet you can't find them all!
Scarlet Briar: Ta for now. See you soon! Oh, and I'll be taking your queen with me. Hang on, Your Majesty. It's going to be a wild ride.
Lord Faren: Never fear, my queen! Lord Faren will save you!
Lord Faren: Well now. That. I did not expect.
After cutscene
Scarlet Briar: I should mention—there are four bombs.
Braham: Finally, some action. Come on, Rox!
Rox: No. They're slaughtering everyone! (approaching NW bomb)[verification requested]
Rox: Hey, Braham, these things can actually fight! (approaching NE bomb)
Scarlet Briar: Don't be discouraged, darling. You can't help being inferior. (If timer runs out; timer resets to 3:00)
Scarlet Briar: Oh, look at all of you scurrying around for your lives. So cute! (1/4 bombs disarmed)
Scarlet Briar: Enjoying yourself? I know I am. (2/4 bombs disarmed)
Scarlet Briar: Why don't you try begging for mercy? That could be fun. (3/4 bombs disarmed)
Approaching Countess Anise
Countess Anise: Shining Blade! Rally to the queen!
Countess Anise: If anyone approaches, cut them down.
Approaching Marcello and Hobo-Tron
Marcello DiGiacomo: Begone, you awful thing! Isn't it enough that you've ruined my earning potential as a street performer?
Hobo-Tron: Incorrect—recollection. Like—you, I—only—endeavored—to—entertain—others.
Aetherblade Thug (1): Oh-ho! What have we here?
Aetherblade Thug (2): I heard this one say they're "performers."
Aetherblade Thug (3): Sounds like we just booked ourselves some world-class entertainment. (laugh)
Aetherblade Thug (2): (laugh)
Aetherblade Thug (1): (laugh)
Hobo-Tron: I—once—attended—a—Consortium—workshop—on—hostage—negotiation. We—should—cooperate—with—them.
Marcello DiGiacomo: I hate you sooo much.
Talking with allies
Braham: This sure beats some boring speech, huh?
Talk end option tango.png Heh. Guess it does.
Rox: I'm more skilled at this kind of diplomacy.
Talk end option tango.png We've got this.
Logan Thackeray: Help me protect the queen!
Talk end option tango.png Count on me.
Countess Anise: The Shining Blade will look after the Queen. Can you attend to the citizens?
Talk end option tango.png Count on me.
After disarming all four bombs
Scarlet Briar: Oops, did I say four bombs? I meant five.
Scarlet Briar: Where did I put it... Oh, I remember: right where the Seraph are gathering up the civilians. How careless of me.
Logan Thackeray: Gods... She's bombed our evacuation point. My men... All of those civilians...
Scarlet Briar: Pity, but don't waste your time mourning.
Scarlet Briar: This is bigger than them. Than any of you.
Approaching Queen Jennah
Queen Jennah: Forgive the deception, Logan. Countess Anise's security measures depended on as few people as possible knowing about them.
Logan Thackeray: I'm glad you're safe, but I'm your cap—a Seraph captain. How can I serve if I'm not informed?
Countess Anise: Don't be petulant. My job is to protect the queen from her enemies. Yours is to seek out and destroy those enemies.
Countess Anise: There were indications of a threat, so I concealed the real queen until it revealed itself. Now it has. And it's spreading.
Countess Anise: Reports from all over the globe tell of portals releasing Scarlet's twisted minions. What are you doing about it?
Queen Jennah: A fair question. Scarlet can't be allowed to complete whatever it is she's started, and she must be punished for the attempt.
Logan Thackeray: Very well. Scarlet is the problem, and she's in the pavilion. If she's using portals to send things out, we use portals to send things in.
Queen Jennah: Marshal whatever forces you need, Captain. Scarlet and her minions must be rooted out of that pavilion to face Krytan justice.
Countess Anise: And do hurry. The sooner we get in, the sooner we rescue the VIP hostages. Poor Faren...who'd have thought he had hero in him?
Rox: What's the situation, Captain? Braham and I are ready if you need us.
Logan Thackeray: I'd welcome the help. Scarlet's clearly been planning this for a long time, and she's several steps ahead of us.
Logan Thackeray: We have to catch up. Fast. Our top priorities are to neutralize her minions and find a way into that pavilion.
Braham: "Neutralize" means "break," right? Because I can do that.
Logan Thackeray: That'll work for her minions, but the door doesn't look breakable. We're going to need an alternative. Maybe portals?
Rox: I was talking to the asuran dignitary, Vorpp. He's an engineer with a background in asura gates and teleportation equipment.
Logan Thackeray: Perfect. See if he's ready and willing to help. In the meantime, I'll organize Seraph patrols to protect the streets.
Rox: So, Vorpp: we need a way into Scarlet's playhouse. Ready to put your thaumo-technical skills to use on behalf of DR?
Emissary Vorpp: Of course. I know of this Scarlet. She earned advanced engineering degrees at each of Rata Sum's colleges in record time.
Emissary Vorpp: "Engineering prodigy," they said. "Intuitive grasp of phenomenological design and transcendent systems." Pfah, I say. Pfah!
Emissary Vorpp: I hate a show-off, especially when they're showing me up. Count me in. Taking down Scarlet is a matter of asuran pride.
Rox: Asuran pride and human survival. Now let's put our heads together and figure out a way into that pavilion.
Emisarry Vorpp: While inside her lair, Scarlet's able to launch remote attacks using teleportation technology. I believe that I can reverse-engineer her portals to gain access to her lair, with your help.
Talk more option tango.png How can I help?
You can gather some data for me at the site of Scarlet's first portal invasion. I'll send a more formal request along shortly.
Talk end option tango.png Understood.
Talk more option tango.png Do you know anything about Scarlet that might help us?
I know she got special dispensation to study at all three Rata Sum colleges. She excelled, too, that leafy little know—it—all.
Talk more option tango.png So she's asura-trained?
Asura-, charr-, norn-, and even hylek-trained, if you believe the stories. All I know for sure is that she claims to have seen the Eternal Alchemy, and to understand it...which is patently false.
Talk more option tango.png Why is it false?
Because nobody ever "sees" the Eternal Alchemy. That's like claiming to see the shape of the universe, or to understand how reality works. If it's beyond every asura genius, it's beyond her.
Talk more option tango.png How can I help? (same as above)
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for the information.
Talk more option tango.png How can I help? (same as above)
Talk more option tango.png How can I help? (same as above)
Talk end option tango.png I'll think about it.
Talking with allies
Rox: Tribune Brimstone will be kicking himself for skipping Scarlet's coming out party. I just hope he approves of the way I'm handling it.
Talk end option tango.png I know you'll make him proud.
Braham: Sylvari aren't usually this destructive, are they? Not that I'm complaining. A great hunter can handle any prey.
Talk end option tango.png Well said.
Logan Thackeray: I warned the Countess something like this would happen. No matter what Queen Jennah does, the enemies of Kryta are always ready to pounce.
Talk end option tango.png I fear Scarlet's a threat to more than just Kryta.
Countess Anise: At least now we have a name and a face for our mystery threat.
Talk more option tango.png What does the Shining Blade know about Scarlet?
Lots of rumors, almost no verifiable facts. She's either a magi-technical prodigy, or completely mad, or the greatest fraud who ever lived. She may even be a little bit of each.
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for the information.

My story[edit]

The Crown Pavilion loading screen.jpg

A few days later, I attended the closing ceremony for the Queen's Jubilee with Rox and Braham—as promised, the festivities continued despite the attack. Unfortunately, the city's blissful ignorance was cut short when the hooded figure revealed herself during Jennah's concluding speech. Scarlet Briar is her name, and I have a sneaking suspicion she has something to do with Tyria's recent misfortunes.

Scarlet wrested control of the watchknights, employing them as her muscle in a hostile takeover of the jubilee. She then fired her rifle at Queen Jennah's dais and detonated a bomb, causing it to collapse. Lord Faren was able to grab hold of the queen, but she shattered in his arms—a mesmer illusion. Faren fell to an uncertain fate, unable to maintain his balance.

To complicate matters, Scarlet planted bombs throughout the Pavilion's courtyard, sending the city into pandemonium. We were able to disarm most of them, but the causalities[sic] were significant. All the while Scarlet continued to mock the panicked civilians, claiming that this is "bigger than them."

We regrouped with the real queen (safe and unharmed), along with Countess Anise and Logan. While Anise and Logan were at odds about their preparedness for the situation, Rox announced that the asuran cultural representative, Vorpp, might have some useful teleportation technology that could help us breach the Pavilion and confront Scarlet. Vorpp immediately agreed to help, claiming that Scarlet had previously made her way through the asuran colleges and was a blister he wouldn't mind popping.
