Song of the Mists Condition Renegade [edit]
Criterion | Rating |

Burst Damage | 3/5 |
Sustained Damage | 4/5 |
Utility Options | 4/5 |
Survivability | 5/5 |
Difficulty | 2/5 |
Condition Renegade is one of my all-time favourite builds. It's a beast in open world, very versatile and does great damage in group content, with a rather simple rotation. This iteration uses Song of the Mists instead of Charged Mists, which removes the requirement for timely legend swaps at the cost of a small amount of damage.

Revenants are – together with Thieves– the only profession in the game that has a resource bar to manage determines how often you can use skills. On this profession, skills have different Energy costs. This leads to some skills being very powerful with comparably short cooldowns (moreso than on other professions), but the Energybar restricts your ability to use them. That is because they usually have a high Energy cost as the main trade-off.
Legends[edit]
- On revenants, Legends invoked from the Mists define your utility skill bar. You can still change the order of them, but each legend has a fixed selection of utility skills.
- Swapping Legends counts as a Weapon swap, and thus triggers all effects that occur when swapping weapons.
- You can swap Legends every 10 seconds, which will replace your entire utility skill bar and is NOT affected by Alacrity.
In this build, the two legends of choice are Legendary Demon Stance and Legendary Renegade Stance, as they provide the highest combination of damage for a Condition-focused build.
Citadel Orders[edit]
Renegades gain access to citadel orders and the unique buff Kalla's Fervor. This boosts all damage you do and is very easy to stack up via Ambush Commander and Blood Fury.
# | Skill | Description | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
F2 | Heroic Command | ½ | 10 | 10 | Citadel Order. Refresh the duration of your Kalla's Fervor and grant nearby allies might for every stack. |
F3 | Citadel Bombardment | ¾ | 35 | 15 | Citadel Order. Open a portal through the mists of time, unleashing a storm of artillery from the united legions. |
F4 | Orders from Above | 20 | 20 | Citadel Order. Orders from above arrive, renewing your abilities and those of your nearby allies. |
- Heroic Command is a cheap way to supply Might to allies around you, which is helpful if you see that you are lacking stacks.
- Citadel Bombardment does a lot of damage, but is generally too expensive when not using Charged Mists.
- Orders from Above can be used to supply Alacrity. If you have to use it in group, use it instead of Icerazor's Ire in the rotation outlined below.
Skill Usage & Choices[edit]
Spear[edit]
- Spear is a really strong weapon for Condition Damage builds, and excels at encounters with longer phase timings (note the discrepancy between the first and last damage number in the log).
- All skills on Spear reduce the cooldown of the most important damage skill, Abyssal Raze.
- Abyssal Raze applies Conditions and gives you stacks of Crushing Abyss on top. For each stack of Crushing Abyss you have, it will apply additional stacks of Torment. This ramps up the power of the skill over time. Swapping applies Torment as well, but makes you lose the stacks.
- The auto attack Abyssal Fire is nice, since it tracks whether your target is in melee range or not. If it is not, it will become a throw attack and a potential Projectile finisher.
- Abyssal Force applies Burning and reduces the cooldown of Abyssal Raze by 4 seconds. Use on cooldown.
- Abyssal Blot does good damage via Poisoned and reduces the cooldown of Abyssal Raze by 4 seconds, but it is an Area Pull and the only CC skill on Spear. Save this when you need CC or when you want to group mobs up.
- Abyssal Blitz is an Evade and a movement skill, but it does not apply any damaging conditions. You can use this to evade attacks though, which is pretty nice!
Shortbow[edit]
- Shortbow is used on the secondary bar for higher range on demand. It's not required, but can also increase the build-up speed of damage.
- Bloodbane Path is a ranged attack that applies Bleeding and does great damage.
- Sevenshot is a projectile attack that applies 7 stacks of Torment. Each of these projectiles has a 20% chance to become a Projectile Finisher.
- Spiritcrush is ground-targeted and a fire field that applies Burning. Try to use this prior to Sevenshot, as you may apply additional Burning through the seven potential Projectile Finishers.
- Scorchrazor as a cheap skill for Defiance bar damage through a Knockdown. Since it does decent damage as well, it has a fairly small trade-off in damage too!
Rotation Concept[edit]
You can find my most recent rotation showcase here. Link to Damage Log (add 1.6k DPS from Razorclaw's Rage to it)
- When using a Legendary Renegade Stance ability, the next Legendary Renegade Stance ability within a 4 second window will be enhanced and have its cast time removed. That way, you can use it during other skills.
- We're using this mechanic inside Legendary Renegade Stance to enhance Razorclaw's Rage to apply additional Torment with it. To do that, we're using Icerazor's Ire before it.
Rotation Flow[edit]
Section | Notes |
---|---|
General Stuff |
Razorclaw's Rage makes this build scale with allies around you, since the Bleeding applied by allies counts as your damage (and uses your stats). This adds ~1.6k DPS over time and makes the ramp-up much faster.

Section 2: Kalla[edit]

Utility Skills[edit]
Skill Choice | Notes |
---|---|
Breakrazor's Bastion | Cheap and strong area heal that also reduces incoming Condition damage in its radius by 50% for 10 seconds. |
Icerazor's Ire | This skill is good damage on a condition build through its Torment and applies lots of vulnerability. |
Darkrazor's Daring | One of the strongest Control effect skills in the game. Applies 600 Defiance bar damage in an area. Use this to annihilate Defiance bars! |
Razorclaw's Rage | This applies a buff to up to five allies in its radius, making them apply Bleeding. This Bleeding counts for your damage and uses your stats, making this incredibly powerful when you are not alone. In solo applications, it is decent, but not nearly as powerful. |
Soulcleave's Summit | This is an Upkeep skill that will keep your Energy steady and makes allies steal health every second. Do not use this unless your group desperately needs healing and you have spare energy. |
Skill Choice | Notes |
---|---|
Empowering Misery | Cheap and strong heal that also heals you for each condition on you, but does not remove them. |
Banish Enchantment | This skill applies Chilled and removes 3 boons, which can be very useful for encounters like Dhuum, Qadim the Peerless or Vale Guardian. |
Call to Anguish | Leap finisher that also Pulls enemies to the spot where you land and applies Chilled. Can be used to group mobs up, but is very expensive to use. |
Pain Absorption | Stun break that will transfer conditions from nearby allies to you and applies both Resistance and Resolution to you. Very expensive, should only be used in emergency situations on Mallyx. |
Embrace the Darkness | This is an Upkeep skill that will slowly drain your Energy and applis Torment every second. Very strong and the first thing you should actviate when you swap to Mallyx. Will apply even more Torment whenever you used a skill that costs Energy. |
Gear & Traits[edit]
- Since the vast majority of damage comes from Bleeding and Torment, it is usually important to reach 100% condition duration on it. We violate that rule here, as Superior Rune of the Trapper is the best overall choice despite Superior Rune of the Nightmare having longer condition duration.
- The Sigil placements are chosen so that two ranged Sigils are on the ranged weapon and the melee sigil is on the melee weapon.
- Sigil's that trigger on weapon swapping also trigger on swapping legends, so they trigger twice as often on Revenants.
Important Stats (descending in Importance):
- ~62% Condition duration in the hero panel (Yearning Empowerment and Pact of Pain provide 25% on top)
- 100% Bleeding Duration with Blood Fury
- Maximize Condition Damage

- For a budget variant, simply replace all armor and trinket pieces of Viper's with rare/exotic Ritualist's. For the backpack, you can use a Crafter's backpack of the highest tier and select either Celestial or Rabid.
- Ascended food and gear is always ideal, but almost never required. Exotic gear is fine for everything aside from higher-tier fractals.

Increasing General Survivability[edit]
For OW, it can make sense to make a build more forgiving, so that you can sustain on your own.
- The first major step to increase survivability is to stay on Shortbow or Spear for ranged gameplay.
- You can buy Stardust for …. This brings additional survivability through its Celestial prefix and allows you to put more defensive Sigils on it (more on that later).
- Use Vindication instead of Lasting Legacy for a conversion of outgoing damage to healing. This is a significant boost to survivability!
- When swapping to Legendary Demon Stance, you can stay at a decent amount of range, so long as the circle from Embrace the Darkness hits the enemy.
- That strategy allows you to deal great damage from range so you can kite dangerous enemies instead of facetanking their damage.
- To increase your survivability and self-healing noticeably for general roaming, use Fiendish Tenacity, All for One, Cleansing Channel and Rapid Flow:
Corruption | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Invocation | ||||||
Renegade | ||||||
- If you want easier boon coverage and/or higher survivability, you can replace pieces of Viper's with Ritualist's or Celestial. Ritualist's Armor and Trinkets are fairly cheap to buy. This also allows you to play Alacrity in group content!
- Fiendish Tenacity grants you a nice steady heal over time while you have Resistance on you. If you swap legends on cooldown, you will maintain a good uptime on it. Resistance is a very strong boon, allowing you to fully ignore Blinded, Chilled, Weakness, Slow, Fear, Taunt, Vulnerability, Crippled and Immobile on you.
- To increase the uptime on Resistance, you can also enhance Darkrazor's Daring by using Icerazor's Ire right before it when swapping to Legendary Renegade Stance.
- Darkrazor's Daring annihilates Defiance bars, so use it as often as you can when they're up.
- Use the survivability food and utility item listed above for another -10% damage taken and up to 220 Toughness!
Boon Coverage[edit]
- Use Incensed Response and Heroic Command to cover Might on yourself. I also like to put a Superior Sigil of Battle on the cheap shortbow for Might on legend swapping.
- Endless Enmity and Invoker's Rage maintain Fury easily as long as you keep swapping legends.
- All for One applies Protection every time you use a Legendary Renegade Ability. This covers a good uptime, drastically increasing survivability!
- You can use Soulcleave's Summit and immediately cancel it to apply Protection to yourself for a low energy cost.
- Rapid Flow provides additional healing and covers Swiftness in combat.
- If you can, make use of Jade Tech Offensive Overcharge and Jade Tech Defensive Overcharge.
- These give for 150 additional Toughness, Vitality, Condition Damage and Power as well as all boons aside from Stability, Resistance and Resolution on entering combat. These effects can be pre-stacked by using an Enchanted Snow Diamond Tonic repeatedly when out of combat. They will covera good uptime on Quickness and Alacrity in general roaming, where you enter and exit combat frequently! This drastically increases your damage.
- In case you don't want the hassle of reapplying jade protocols from time to time, you can abuse the synergy between Relic of the Cavalier and Blast from the Skyscale to apply lots of Aegis, Resistance, Might and Quickness to yourself. It does has an internal cooldown of 1 second and applies the boons on every hit of Blast.
Dealing with Incoming Conditions and Control effects[edit]
- Cleansing Channel removes a condition whenever you swap legends.
- In case you need frequent condi cleanses, putting a Superior Sigil of Generosity or Superior Sigil of Purity on the second Short bow is worth looking at. Either of the two sigils cleanses conditions in frequent intervals, and you can just swap to Short bow when you encounter condition-heavy fights.
- Darkrazor's Daring is also a Stun break and grants brief Stability. We're using this offensively, but if you feel insecure about a partricular encounter, you can also save this for then Stun break.
- The other Stun break you have available is Pain Absorption, but that is rather expensive.
Optional: Salvation Bunker Build [edit]
- If you really want to bunker down, make use of Salvation and Demonic Resistance in Corruption:
Salvation | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
- This gives you a permanent inflow of Barrier, -15% damage taken from Unyielding Devotion and both healing and a condition cleanse on dodging via Eluding Nullification.
- This can be used to solo basically anything in the game with ease, but come at the cost of a larger chunk of your damage, as it costs uptime on Fury and other damage sources from Invocation.
