Walkthrough[edit]

Start the mission by meeting your squad at Gavbeorn's Landing. Clear out the undead outside the camp so that you can discuss the strategy with Crusader Jeyne. Board the Orrian ships after the cinematic. After boarding, Zott will produce some cannons to fire at the catapults on the shore. Risen Giants will arrive at one point and begin to throw boulders at you. Use the Absorption Shield ability of the cannons to shield yourself from damage and reflect the boulders back to the giants (alternatively: exit from the catapult and take a step backwards until the boulder hits, then return). Eventually an Eye of Zhaitan will spot you and raise a bone wall. Fire the cannons at the bone wall to destroy it and continue to watch out for boulders from the giants.

Next your ship will begin to spring leaks and will be invaded by ooze from below deck. Kill the ooze, pick up their remains, and use it to plug the holes. While below deck continue to watch for enemy area target rings, as the giants are still able to target you and can cause damage.

Once complete, you will head to the main deck and be attacked by two Risen Bone Ships from the west. Use Zott's cannons to destroy them, and make use of the Absorption Shield ability to shield yourself from damage again. After destroying the Risen Bone Ships there will be a cutscene. Swim to the marked area on the map to revive the crew of the Windfall (note that initially you can only revive the Vigil Warmaster). Make sure Zott is with you, as he needs to revive Elli before the rest of the crew can be saved. While reviving the Windfall crew, the Risen Bone Ship will target you with putrid fish; be sure to avoid its fire. After reviving the Windfall crew swim to shore and meet up with the rest of the squad.

At the step "Rescue the crew of the Windfall", sometimes the crew of the Windfall might not be able to be revived, because Agent Zott stop moving before finding Elli. Avoid this by guiding Agent Zott until he finds Elli for him to revive Elli before any other crewmembers.

Once on shore you are tasked with escorting Zott to the Risen catapults. When prompted, you can give him the signal to proceed and set an explosive charge on each of the catapults. He also distributes 5 Pact Signal Flares which are grenades that will kill Risen upon impact - use these on balled groups of Risen (you can obtain more grenades from Scholar Inkblood). There are a total of three catapults along the docks; around each catapult are large groups of Risen. When the third catapult is destroyed, Marksman Rukbat Rami will attack Zott and kill him.

At the step "Lead Zott to the remaining siege weapons", sometimes after telling Zott to destroy the third catapult he will sit there and do nothing. You may be able avoid this by not damaging the catapult with AoE spells.

Marksman Rukbat Rami spawns with 8-10 other Risen. Eliminate the other Risen before focussing on the Marksman, as the Marksman will regularly teleport (blinding the area each time he teleports) as you damage him. Once Marksman Rukbat Rami is defeated, the quest will end. Talk to Trahearne to claim your reward and to progress to the next step in your story.

Dialogue[edit]

After defeating the group of Risen at the front of the gate:

Vigil Crusader: Head on in, Commander. Eilye Jeyne's gathered the troops and is awaiting your arrival.

Approaching your squad:

Agent Zott: ...and that's why I say Researcher Maeva's threaded megafluidity theorem is complete bunk!
Elli: Maeva's crazy as a junkheap skritt. Huh...we finally found something we can agree on!
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Pipe down, you two. The Commander doesn't need to hear your prattle. We need to report.

Talking to your allies at Gavbeorn's Landing:

Scholar Inkblood: Amphebe and I will execute a series of feints along the road. The distraction should be enough for your ships to slip in unnoticed.
Talk end option tango.png Good luck.
Merri Sunbower: Good to see you again, Commander. I look forward to working with you.
Talk end option tango.png Likewise, Merri.
Fel Vaerdenmer: I'll see these ships safely to the docks. Count on it.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Fel.

Talking to Crudsader Jeyne (cinematic):

Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: We've got the ships, the crew, and the sizable force. All we need is a good commander, and our squad's ready for the final operation.
<Character name>: I'm ready to catch the Risen with their tattered pants down. How do you want to play this?
Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: We sail south and blend in with their usual galleys. The Risen will assume we're part of their fleet, until we start firing on their shore artillery.
Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: While we sail, Inkblood will lead a feint against the ground troops to distract the Risen. Commander, you'll be on the flagship with Fel, Merri, and me.
Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: Zott will be the flagship's gunner. Elli's assigned to the second galleon, the "Windfall." We need to spread out our firepower in case we lose one of the ships.
Agent Zott: Don't worry about the captured galleons, Crusader Jeyne. Everything will be fine! They're in fully operational condition.
Elli: And by "operational," he means they have a barely tolerable ratio of holes to wreckage.
Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: That's enough, you two. With your leave, Commander, we'll board the ships and set sail.

After the cinematic:

Elli: Why, Zott, you've gone all lumpy-eared. Worried about me?
Agent Zott: Not worried, I merely wanted you back on my ship to...assist me, that's all.
Elli: Stop stressing out. Activate that big heat sink you call a brain, and get to work.

Talking before leaving Gavbeorn's Landing:

Elli: Zott's such a worrywart. He's going to explode one day from this anxiety parameters. Me, I look forward to shooting the Risen from the deck of the Windfall.
Talk end option tango.png See you after the siege.
Agent Zott: I do worry for Elli. She wasn't at Claw Island. She didn't see the terrors we fought there.
Talk end option tango.png She's seen her share of war. She'll be okay.
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Time to get these boats to the docks. Have any last questions about the mission, Commander?
Talk more option tango.png What's the overall strategy for the assault?
We sail the Orrian ships to the docks south of Arah. Agent Zott has prepared stealth cannons to bombard the docks, destroy the siege weaponry, and claim the area for the Pact.
Talk more option tango.png What is Scholar Inkblood doing?
Talk more option tango.png What are Fel and Merri's roles for the mission?
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Eilye.
Talk more option tango.png What is Scholar Inkblood doing?
Leading a sortie to bait Orrian ground forces at the docks into attacking opposite our location. It'll give us a chance to blindside the siege teams.
Talk more option tango.png What's the overall strategy for the assault?
Talk more option tango.png What are Fel and Merri's roles for the mission?
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Eilye.
Talk more option tango.png What are Fel and Merri's roles for the mission?
Fel will captain our flagship. Merri will run support in the hull and be on backup cannon duty. She'll fire on locations marked by Inkblood's signal flares.
Talk more option tango.png What's the overall strategy for the assault?
Talk more option tango.png What is Scholar Inkblood doing?
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Eilye.
Talk end option tango.png No. I'm ready.

Boarding the Orrian Dead Ships (in-game cut scene):

Fel Vaerdenmer: I'm not seeing any movement. Looks like we're in the clear.
Sergeant/Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Stay wary. They won't give up that easily.
Merri Sunbower: Should we try to look more Risen? I could shuffle around, or rot a little, or something...
Fel Vaerdenmer: Stay quiet, Merri, my dove. That's all we can do.

As you move towards the deck:

Merri Sunbower: Welcome aboard, Commander. Eilye and Zott are waiting for you above decks.

Talking to Merri:

Merri Sunbower: You're needed on deck, Commander.
Talk end option tango.png Right.

On deck:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Agent Zott, time to work your magic. Show me some firepower.
Agent Zott: One part fire, one part power, and the rest is made of kaboom!

Talking to the crew:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Get on the turret, Commander. Zott's standing by if you need help.
Talk end option tango.png Will do.
Agent Zott: You'll like these, Commander. These cannons have spreadshot for groups, a charged-up massive shot, and a kinetic shield to bounce projectiles back to the enemy.
Talk end option tango.png Outstanding. Let's see how they do.
Fel Vaerdenmer: I'll keep the ship steady during the siege. Good luck, Commander.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks.

Beginning of the bombardment:

Agent Zott: Looks like the giants are on shore defense. Use your cannon's shield to deflect the incoming rocks!

In-game cut scene:

Sergeant/Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Fire on the Eye of Zhaitan! We need to take it out before—
Fel Vaerdenmer: Too late, the Eye's spotted us! Brace yourself everyone. Things are about to get rocky.

During the bombardment:

Merri Sunbower: The hull's cracking, Captain. Oozes are slipping in through the holes. I could use some help down here!
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: I'll take your post, Commander. You get down there and lend Merri a hand!

When a problem appears in the below deck:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: I'll finish off the dock forces, Commander. Merri needs your help down below.
Talk end option tango.png On it.
Fel Vaerdenmer: Sounds like Merri's in a real knot. Help her. Hurry!
Talk end option tango.png Absolutely.

While in the below deck:

Merri Sunbower: Ugh! These awful things are eating through the hull! Help me squash them.
Merri Sunbower: We need something to plug up these leaks before they get worse...
Merri Sunbower: I've got an idea. Lodge that goop in the holes, and it'll plug the gap so no more oozes can come through.
Merri Sunbower: Thanks for your help. Now, get back to your duties at the cannon!
Merri salutes <Character name>

Back on deck:

Merri Sunbower: The hull's patched proper, captain. Why's this tub still shaking?
Fel Vaerdenmer: It's not the ship that's the problem. Something's coming up the through the water!
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Commander, there are enemy ships rising off the starboard side. So creepy.

Destroying the Dead Ships:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: These vessels weren't built to take heavy damage. Sink the bone ships or they'll take out our whole borrowed fleet!
Talk end option tango.png Don't worry. We'll destroy them first.

In-game cut scene:

Fel Vaerdenmer: Shark's maw! They've damaged the "Windfall." The galleon'll sink for sure.

After destroying the Risen Bone Ships (cinematic):

Agent Zott: Crusader Jeyne, look off our port bow! The "Windfall" has taken heavy damage. They're going down!
Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: We can't do anything about it. If we don't capture those docks immediately, the Pact's entire assault will fail. People are counting on us.
Agent Zott: No! That's Elli's ship! We can't leave her to die!
Sergeant Eilye Jeyne: We have our orders, Agent, and the mission is top priority. Elli would understand.
Agent Zott: To hell with our orders, and to hell with the mission! Elli needs me. I won't abandon her!
<Character name>: Stand down, Agent Zott. This flagship will continue toward the Orrian docks. It's critical that the Pact capture that territory, and this is our only chance.
<Character name>: However, the mission can succeed without your expertise—or mine. Crusader Jeyne, give Fell and Merri our posts. Rendezvous with Inkblood when you reach the shore.
<Character name>: Zott and I will head to the Windfall. If there are survivors, we'll get them out and meet you there.
Agent Zott: Thank you, Commander. I promised her...

Speaking with your allies before following Agent Zott:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Go on with Zott, Commander. I'll rendezvous with Scholar Inkblood on the shore and await your return.
Talk end option tango.png If I'm not back soon, begin the assault without me.
Fel Vaerdenmer: I'll keep the ship safe with Merri. Find the Windfall's captain. I'd still hate to see her go down like that. Especially here.
Talk end option tango.png I'll try my best, Fel. Take care.
Merri Sunbower: Find Scholar Inkblood when you get ashore. He has flares you can use. Light them and I'll fire on that location.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Merri.

Entering the water:

Agent Zott: Hurry! Please, we need to search the water where the ship went down.

Talking to Zott:

Agent Zott: I knew something like this would happen. Why didn't she listen to me?
Talk end option tango.png Stay calm. We just need to find her.

Finding Elli:

Agent Zott: Elli? Elli! She's still breathing—she has to be!
Elli: Zott...? Look at all the pretty tangents and sines tracing your ears. Ooh, geometrical.
Agent Zott: Hush, Elli. Don't say anything. I meant that. Doing equations after a jolt can only lead to a non-axiomatic formulae.
Agent Zott: I'm ready, Commander. Let's save as many soldiers as we can and finish this fight once and for all!

Reviving the Vigil warmaster:

Vigil Warmaster: Thanks, Commander. Please, save the rest of my unit, too.

Talking to Elli:

Elli: I'm still discombobulated, but I could've sworn Zotty saved me. How adorable, right?
Talk end option tango.png Hold on, Elli. We'll reach the shore soon. You'll feel better on land.

Arriving at the shoreline:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Over here, Commander. Elli! I'm glad to see you're safe.
Scholar Inkblood: Me, too, little no-fur. Good to see you in one piece.
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: We have to control this territory. Zott, ready the munitions.
Scholar Inkblood: Take this, Commander. You lay down a signal, and we'll fire on that location. Got it?

Speaking with your allies:

Crusader Eilye Jeyne: Clear the way so Zott can set those charges. use one of Inkblood's flares so Merri can focus fire on an area.
Talk end option tango.png Excellent.
Elli: What a crowd! Let's give them a real show, Commander! Show these corpses our corpsemaker corps!
Talk end option tango.png I'm going to pretend that made sense.
Scholar Inkblood: At your service, Commander. What do you need?
Talk ready option.png Hand me a signal flare.
Talk end option tango.png Nothing, thanks.

As you progress through the Risen:

Agent Zott: We're near the first siege weapon. Shall I prep the explosives, Commander? Remember, it'll attract the Risen.
Talk ready option.png You're clear. Go!
Talk end option tango.png Not yet.

Blowing up the first catapult:

Agent Zott: Watch your fingers! That thing's set to blow!

Reaching the second:

Agent Zott: Second siege weapon in sight. Should I prep the explosives?
Talk ready option.png Do it.
Talk end option tango.png Not yet.

Blowing up the second catapult:

Agent Zott: Number two, primed for explosion. Duck!

Reaching the third and final catapult:

Agent Zott: This is the last of them. Ready for the explosives? I've prepared something special for the Risen.
Talk ready option.png Light it up, Zott.
Talk end option tango.png Not yet.

Blowing up the last catapult:

Agent Zott: Three for three! Here goes the last one!

After destroying the siege weapons and their defenders (in-game cut scene):

Elli: Zott, you did it! Bless your adorable little moony eyeballs—you're a hero.
Agent Zott: It wasn't all me. The commander did a great deal, and, well...there was you...
Elli: You're being modest. Now come here and kiss me, you big— No! Zott!

After cut scene with Agent Zott being killed:

Elli: Zott! (scream)
Scholar Inkblood: By the forges of home, I swear every last one of these walking corpses will burn!
Crusader Eilye Jeyne: The Marksman is their leader. Take him out, and the rest will fall apart.

During the fight with Marksman Rukbat Rami:

Elli's Hologram: Die, monster!
Elli's Hologram: What, aren't you gonna say somethin'? No witty banter?
Elli's Hologram: I'll give you some of my own, then! You're a worthless sack of flesh that can't even talk.

After defeating Marksman Rukbat Rami (in-game cut scene):

Elli's Hologram: No one mourns your death. No one...
Trahearne: The operation was a success! Fall in, troops! Secure the docks!

Reporting to Trahearne (cinematic):

Trahearne: Well done, Commander. A bittersweet victory, but critical. Your success in this battle means the Pact can finally strike at Arah—and the dragon, Zhaitan.
Trahearne: Crusader Jeyne, Elli, you have my sincere condolences. Agent Zott died a hero, and his sacrifice will be remembered.
<Character name>: I agree. Zott will be missed. He was a great inventor, and a good friend.
Elli: He was an irascible old crackpot, and you know it, Commander. I...I don't want to believe he's gone.
Elli: I don't think I really knew what it meant to fight for Tyria. Everyone said, "This is war, and there's no turning back."
Elli: I couldn't appreciate what that meant, but now I know. It means loss, and pain, and sadness, but it also means hope.
Elli: I won't give up, and I won't turn back. Even when Zott thought I was gone, he kept searching for me. I'll keep him alive, too—with my inventions.
Trahearne: You'll have a chance to do just that. The Pact isn't turning back, either. We're going to defeat Zhaitan—once and for all.

Talking to Trahearne after the cinematic:

Trahearne: The Priory has a ritual that we think could cleanse Orr. We just need to get my sword Caladbolg to the proper spot.
Talk quest option tango.png Where do we hold the ritual?
Meet me at the Azabe Qabar royal crypt and I'll have an assault team ready to support us.
Talk quest option tango.png It's a plan. See you there.

Talking to Doern:

(if the character joined the Order of Whispers)
Doern Velazquez: Brilliantly done, <Character name>, though losing Agent Zott is a huge blow. We've lost so many inventors lately.
Talk end option tango.png It'll be hard to replace Tybalt or Zott, but here's hoping.
(otherwise)
Doern Velazquez: Zott was an amazing agent, and I'm proud he was my friend.
Talk end option tango.png I'll remember him.

My story[edit]

Ships of the Line.jpg

Using the ships we captured, we approached the docks of Arah unnoticed. Once in position, the Pact launched a significant strike inland and won the day, but not without a price.

Notes[edit]

Crusader Eilye Jeyne is called Sergeant Eilye Jeyne during the cinematics.
