Walkthrough[edit]

Entering the water can send you out of the instance area, despite being within the map's boundaries.
Failure to defeat the Risen near each tower before they are destroyed can cause the quest to hang. Killing all enemies up to the second tower before talking to Tonn for the first time in the instance will reduce the chances of this happening. See the official forums for more information.
Leave the Risen Krait at third tower to the end after the tower is destroyed to cleanly Clear the Beach. Otherwise, you may not be able to talk to Tonn.

Demolitionist Tonn aims to destroy three towers of the Risen located on a nearby beach. You and a few Vigil allies are to protect him on his journey to the towers. Each objective will be marked on the map. Stay with the group and follow them when they are leading. At other times they will stop and follow you.

After meeting up with Tonn and some other Vigil soldiers, you will set off to destroy the towers. Head through the cave, fighting skale, bats and spiders along the way. The first tower is on the beach, close to the western cave exit. Take out the nearby Risen and wait nearby for Tonn to blow up the tower. (The explosions don't hurt the Risen.) The next tower is a bit further north, and goes exactly the same as the first.

The final tower requires you to backtrack through the caves, fighting some more spiders and taking the northern cave exit where some Risen need to be dispatched. Further on, you will pass by some fallen Wyld Hunt Stewards, one of whom can be revived. When revived (the sylvari Vigil Tactician will revive her if you don't), she will mention that the sylvari in this area are being kidnapped and tortured by nearby Inquest, and she will offer to help you. After the final tower is destroyed by Tonn, you will be prompted to clear the beach of the remaining Risen. (Wait for the Risen Krait in the water to come to you, as the water is out of bounds and will kick you from the instance). A cinematic will then play.

Tonn mentions that the next assignment is about sinking a Risen bone ship and that it will require more powerful explosives. You will have to choose one of two options for acquiring the explosives, which will determine your next quest: getting them from the nearby Inquest, or from his mentor, Zopp.

Dialogue[edit]

Approaching Tonn:

Demolitionist Tonn: Hey, Commander! Over here. Time to make some noise!

Speaking to Tonn (cinematic):

Demolitionist Tonn: I've been looking forward to meeting you, Commander. I told Trahearne I needed the big guns for this mission, and here you are. Heh heh. Welcome to the party.
<Character name>: Demolition is serious work, soldier... but there's nothing wrong with enjoying your work. So, what are we lighting up today?
Demolitionist Tonn: That's the spirit! Like I always tell my wife, Ceera: any lump can hack bad guys to death, but it takes skill and style to turn them into craters and dust.
Demolitionist Tonn: Our preliminary targets are three Orrian towers that are flooding the region with undead nasties. We can't hold this area until we stop the influx.
Demolitionist Tonn: I'll handle the explosives. Your job is to get me to the targets and keep the enemy off me while I plant the charges.
Demolitionist Tonn: Then we drop back, settle in, and enjoy the spectacle pyrotechnical.

Talking to Tonn:

Tonn: I love this part. The anticipation of the explosion is what makes the blast itself so sweet and tasty. Onward!
Talk end option tango.png I'm with you every step of the way.

After the cinematic:

Demolitionist Tonn: I love charr-conditioned animals. Nothing fazes them: explosions, massacres, rude language...
Crusader Gutfire: Every member of the legions is trained for war, from Imperator Smodur down to the lowliest pack animal.
Demolitionist Tonn: Easy there, iron-pants. I meant it as a compliment.

At the first tower:

Demolitionist Tonn: Okay, there's the first tower. I'll set the charges, you keep the locals at bay.
Demolitionist Tonn: Stand clear. This baby's ready to blow!
Demolitionist Tonn: Whoa! Still got all your limbs? Excellent. Come on, more towers await us.

At the second tower:

Demolitionist Tonn: Secondary target: acquired! (chuckle) I love this military talk. It makes blowing stuff up sound so classy.
Demolitionist Tonn: The fuse is lit...not literally, of course but still: duck!
Demolitionist Tonn: There's another tower, but we have to go through the cave to get there. Let's go!

After reviving the Wyld Hunt Tactician:

Wyld Hunt Tactician: Thanks. We'll aid you now.

Talking to Wyld Hunt Tactician:

Wyld Hunt Tactician: I'm sorry, but we won't be much help to you. Between the kidnappings and the undead, we have our hands full here.
Talk more option tango.png Talk to me about the kidnappings.
There's an Inquest lab nearby, and those devils seem to delight in taking us prisoner. They experiment on us, sell us to our enemies. It's barbaric!
Talk more option tango.png You should appeal to the Pact. We may be able to help.
I've heard one of the firstborn was forming an army to fight Zhaitan. Very well, I'll send a runner to the nearest camp to explain our situation.
Talk end option tango.png I can't promise results, but it can't hurt to ask. Good luck.
Talk end option tango.png We may be able to help with the undead.

At the third tower:

Demolitionist Tonn: Special delivery for "Orranian Tower." Anybody home? No? Then I'll just leave it here.
Demolitionist Tonn: Almost done. One more bomb, and then we do the Dance of Explosive Joy.

After clearing the beach (cinematic):

Demolitionist Tonn: Now that's a fireworks show! That was only a warm-up, though. Things are about to get really interesting.
Demolitionist Tonn: The next target is a huge Orrian bone ship that's polluting the waters of the Mire Sea.
Demolitionist Tonn: It's a big job. If we used normal explosives, we'd need to fill the ship's hold with them just to make a dent. Very impractical.
Demolitionist Tonn: That hulk is going to require some serious flash and bang. I've got a line on two high-performance combustibles we can use.
Demolitionist Tonn: Since you outrank me, let me defer to your choice of explosives. We'll send that tub to the bottom of the sea. I'll give you a full briefing when you're ready.

Speaking to Tonn:

Demolitionist Tonn: So much for the Orrian beachhead. We'll need serious firepower for our next mission. Like I'm always telling Ceera: the best defense is to blow the enemy into fragments.
Talk more option tango.png I'm ready to take on the bone ship. What are our choices?
We can get what we need from an unfriendly source, or a friendly one. There's an Inquest lab nearby, as well as my old mentor Zopp's krewe. Either should have what we need.
Talk more option tango.png I need more details.
No problem. What do you need to know?
Talk more option tango.png What does the Inquest krewe have for us?
Their work on bomb prototypes parallels my own. They have more resources, so they've made more progress. I'm confident they have something I can use.
Talk more option tango.png I'm ready to decide. (leads to choices below)
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png I need to think about this.
Talk more option tango.png What does Zopp's krewe have for us?
They've been researching the interior of Mount Maelstrom, where they've harvested and captured geothermal energies in a device that I can adapt to our purposes.
Talk more option tango.png I'm ready to decide. (leads to choices below)
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png I need to think about this.
Talk more option tango.png I'm ready to decide. (leads to choices below)
Talk end option tango.png I need some time to think.
Talk more option tango.png I'm ready to decide.
What's it going to be? Inquest ordnance, or Zopp's?
Talk quest choice tango.png Let's take what we need from the Inquest.
Talk quest choice tango.png Let's work with your friend Zopp.
Talk end option tango.png Wait. I need to think about this.
Talk end option tango.png I need some time to think.
Talk more option tango.png Is Ceera with the Pact, too?
She's a medic, so she's on the front lines every day. She'd rather be teaching back in Rata Sum, but there's a war on, so we both answered the call.
Talk more option tango.png She sounds great, but we need to start our next mission. (same as "I'm ready to take on the bone ship..." above)

Speaking to Tonn after making a decision:

Demolitionist Tonn: Soon we'll be sending that bone ship down in a mighty conflagration. When we're old and grey, our grand-progeny will still be talking about this fireworks show!
Talk end option tango.png Looking forward to it.

My story[edit]

Applied Development Lab loading screen.jpg

I met one of the Pact's premier explosives experts, an asura named Tonn. I helped Tonn take down a set of Orrian siege towers and discovered just how good he is (and how much he enjoys his work). We need a more powerful explosive to destroy the Orrian bone ship, so Tonn and I set out to acquire one.

My story

Notes[edit]

  • These undead towers can sometimes be seen while viewing the cinematic at the vista near Wrathwave Deeps in nearby Splintered Coast, but not while standing on the beach where you saw them (since the towers are only present in this story instance).
