Walkthrough[edit]

Meet up with Cin in the Altar Brook Trading Post and listen to the dialogue. Once that is done, get ready to escort him and his caravan to the Shaemoor Garrison. You will be attacked by various enemies along the way and must defend him and his caravan.

The first group attacks just as you exit the village. It is a group of drakes; allow the nearby Seraph soldiers to block them and deal as much damage as you can. Be careful, they can be tough. The second group is a bit further along the road, it is a group of spiders. Again, disperse them and move on. You will be assaulted by centaurs a bit further along, as you go uphill. Several waves will come at you, so be ready. Let the warrior centaurs get distracted with Cin and his caravan (you can revive him after the fight, but not the caravan), while you take care of the long-range enemies, which can be more treacherous.

An alternative method of doing this quest is to kill everything before you talk to Cin. This will bug the quest so you will still need to enter the town and talk to the Norn. Cin will be further up the road and you will need to talk to him to continue the quest.

After that, continue along the road, until a final group of centaurs charges at you, including a Veteran Tamini Archer. Take care of them as you did the ones before.

Escort Cin to the garrison (chances are the caravan has been defeated and left behind), where you discover that the gates are closed because of the newly installed centaur catapults. Cin complains and says he will wait for you while you take care of the problem.

Now the easiest way to get rid of these catapults is to bombard them from afar with spells or attacks, or to pull the centaur guards away from the catapult. If you get too close, you run the risk of aggroing nearby centaur patrols and will get into the catapult's firing range. Fortunately, two Seraph soldiers will follow you around; use them to distract the centaurs if necessary. Once all three catapults have been destroyed, talk to Cin to end the instance.

This quest ends in Divinity's Reach with the player choosing what to do next:

Dialogue[edit]

Scaver Plateau[edit]

Upon arriving at the trading post:

Cin Fursarai: We had a deal, you thickheaded sap!
Otar Stumpfkopf: You said centaurs. You didn't mention catapults. Double the pay, or we're leaving.
Cin Fursarai: Double? How am I supposed to make a profit when you charge so much? Forget it!
Otar Stumpfkopf: I don't see that you have much of a choice, little man.
Cin Fursarai: Money-grubbing norn! You'd spend it all on ale, anyway! How in Melandru's name am I supposed to get these supplies back to the city?

Cinematic on first interaction with Cin:

Cin Fursarai: You there! You look like you can handle yourself in a fight. I need to get to the garrison, and my oafish guards just turned coward. What do you cost?
<Character name>: Cost? I'm not a mercenary. I'm here to ask for help identifying the craftsmanship of a piece of handmade paper.
Cin Fursarai: If you found quality paper in Divinity's Reach, I can assure you — I made it. Reams of paper are like snowflakes. I know my pages as well as most people know their children.
<Character name>: Can you tell me who bought a particular piece of paper? I'm investigating the matter for the Seraph.
Cin Fursarai: Yes, I could. But why should I? I'm a resident of Lion's Arch. Your queen's got no authority over me, and my clients expect discretion.
<Character name>: Please, it's very important. Can you make an exception?
Cin Fursarai: I'll make you a deal. The road to Shaemoor is dangerous these days. Protect me until I reach the garrison, and I'll tell you what you want to know.
<Character name>: Let's get started. I need this information as soon as possible.

After the cinematic:

Cin Fursarai: Come on. I've got to get away from these unclean masses. That armor merchant smells like a seasick krait.

Whenever Cin or his pack bull is attacked:

Cin Fursarai: Protect me!

Whenever a fight is over and your character is idle:

Cin Fursarai: Quit your lollygagging and get me to the garrison.

If the bull is killed:

Cin Fursarai: You fool! They destroyed my supplies! I'm ruined!
Cin Fursarai: I'll carry what I can. I guess you get what you pay for!
Cin Fursarai: It's dangerous out here! Get me to the garrison!

Cinematic upon arriving at the garrison:

Seraph Soldier: The centaurs have erected catapults. Secure the gates!

After the second cinematic:

Cin Fursarai: You can't make me stay out here! The centaurs will eat me!
Seraph Soldier: Our orders are to seal the gates until those catapults have been destroyed!
Cin Fursarai: Why are you wasting time? Destroy those catapults!
Cin Fursarai:The Seraph won't open the gates while those catapults are pounding away. Do what you do best!

Completion cinematic (if the pack bull survives):

<Character name>: Very well, I held up my end of the bargain. You're safe. Now, tell me who bought this paper.
Cin Fursarai: Safe? Barely! I feel like I was run over by a herd of marauding dolyaks.
Cin Fursarai: That paper was made of pulp from the seborhin tree. It's one of a kind! I sold it to Minister Zamon. He has exceptional taste.
<Character name>: You might be called as a witness if Zamon is brought to trial, so don't leave Divinity's Reach.
Cin Fursarai: How very quaint. If the ministry sends a formal summons, I'll come. At least they'll use decent parchment on the subpoena.

Completion cinematic (if the pack bull is killed):

Cin Fursarai: I'm ruined! Thanks to you and your bungling, all my paper's been destroyed!
<Character name>: I said I'd get you safely to the city, and I did. Those supplies were less important than your life.
Cin Fursarai: I don't owe you. I won't tell you anything. You can't make me!
<Character name>: If you don't, I'll have you arrested for obstruction of the law, you sniveling little toady. Now, tell me who bought that paper!
Cin Fursarai: You wouldn't! You...all right, fine. The paper belongs to Minister Zamon. Are you happy now? Am I free to go?
<Character name>: You might be called as a witness if Zamon is brought to trial, so don't leave Divinity's Reach.
Cin Fursarai: How very quaint. If the ministry sends a formal summons, I'll come. At least they'll use decent parchment on the subpoena.

Seraph Headquarters[edit]

Cinematic in Divinity Reach:

Logan Thackeray: I've been hoping to see you again. Do you have any news? What did the paperwork say?
<Character name>: Fursarai admitted he made the paper for Minister Zamon. He also agreed to testify to that effect.
Logan Thackeray: I knew Zamon was shady, but... organized crime? Setting up citizens to be robbed and brutalized? That's out-and-out treason.
Logan Thackeray: Nevertheless, he's a government official. I can't call him to trial without more evidence.
Logan Thackeray: Where are my manners? Allow me to introduce Countess Anise, Master Exemplar of the Shining Blade.
Countess Anise: Minister Wi's hosting a party tonight. It'll be a good opportunity to eavesdrop on ministers, their allies, and their enemies.
Logan Thackeray: Or we could search Zamon's house. The law allows it if someone's in danger or we suspect treason.
Logan Thackeray: All right. We have one shot, so it's either the party of Zamon's house. I can't give you orders, so let me know how you want to proceed.

Talking to Logan to make a choice:

Logan Thackeray: What's it going to be?
Talk quest option tango.png
Zamon's house. I bet we'll find evidence there.
Are you sure? You can't attend Minister Wi's party if you break into Zamon's place.
Talk quest choice tango.png
I'm sure. Zamon's house it is.
Talk back option tango.png
Actually, I'm not sure. Let's start over.
Talk end option tango.png
Let me think this over.
Talk quest option tango.png
Minister Wi's party. I'll see what I can learn.

I'm sure. Minister Wi's party it is.

Actually, I'm not sure. Let's start over.

Let me think this over.
Talk end option tango.png
Let me think this over.

After making a choice:

Logan Thackeray: Your fellow nobles seem to have a knack for making my life interesting. Let's see if we can't return the favor.

Speaking with Countess Anise:

If Zamon's house was chosen:
Countess Anise: Burglarizing a minister's home? How daring! I see why you and Logan mesh so well. I look forward to tales of your success.
Talk end option tango.png
Thank you, Countess. Wish us luck.
If Minister Wi's party was chosen:
Countess Anise: Minister Wi's gala is the perfect place to investigate Zamon's sadier side. I'll meet you there, of course. It wouldn't do to make us share the spotlight during our entrance.
Talk end option tango.png
Certainly. I'll look for you at the party, Countess.
Regardless of choice:
Countess Anise: Later, my sweet. Right now we both have important preparations to make. (Appears behind the dialogue box)

Speaking with Logan:

If Zamon's house was chosen:
Logan Thackeray: I feel better with you on this mission. Meet me at Zamon's. There we'll find the evidence to convict him.
Talk end option tango.png
I look forward to it. See you there.
If Minister Wi's party was chosen:
Logan Thackeray: It's a plan. You and Anise hit the party, I'll hit Zamon's house, then we'll reconvene later.
Talk end option tango.png
Good hunting. See you later.

My story[edit]

The Informant.jpg

Cin Fursarai was hard to deal with, but I got the name of a man who bought the unusual stationary: Minister Julius Zamon.

I reported my findings to Captain Thackeray. He knows Minister Zamon and is eager to find hard evidence to convict him of treason. Logan has asked me to assist the investigation. I have to decide between searching Zamon's home, or questioning people who know him. We don't have time to do both.
