Walkthrough[edit]

Go to the Upper City in Divinity's Reach to warn Queen Jennah for a cinematic. Afterwards talk to Thackeray, who will send you to find Sergeant Hal in Rurikton for another cinematic.

Go to Black Haven and enter the fort as quickly as possible. If you miss the doors and they close, you will attacked by a group of 8 bandits. Talk to Dansky on upper level if you get in before the bandits arrive (otherwise, Dansky will be near the doors after the fight). Bandits will attack the fort. If you hurry to above the gate you can pour hot oil down on the bandits trying to break in through the gate. There was also a cannon on the upper level that you could use to take out the mortars attacking the fort, but this has been removed.

When you approach the first set of bandits, they will have a short conversation, after which their mortar will explode. You can then repair this mortar and use it on the remaining two. This may be easier than trying to fight them all on foot. You must defeat all the bandits to be able to speak with Lionguard Dansky to complete the mission.

Dialogue[edit]

The Upper City[edit]

Cinematic with Jennah:

Logan Thackeray: Sorry to intrude, Your Majesty, but this can't wait. There's a traitor in the Ministry.
Queen Jennah: That's a serious accusation, Captain. You know the law. Can you provide the required evidence to back up your claim?
<Character name>: We're working on it, Your Majesty. Captain Tervelan confessed that a minister ordered him to reveal patrol routes to the enemy. The Screaming Falcons died because of it.
Minister Arton: Impossible! A minister would never betray our soldiers. I wish this matter investigated immediately, Your Majesty. The Ministry's honor is at stake.
Minister Arton: Captain Tervelan's command is within my ministerial jurisdiction. I'm the one who works directly with him. I am the one impugned.
Minister Arton: I'm not guilty of these crimes, Your Majesty. I'm loyal to you, and to Kryta. As a show of faith, I place myself completely in your hands.
Queen Jennah: Thank you, Arton. The Shining Blade will take you into custody, and you'll be kept under house arrest while we get to the bottom of this.
Countess Anise: Logan, I remember that one Seraph transferred out of Tervelan's company just after the Falcons were ambushed—Sergeant Hal. He might know something.
Logan Thackeray: Hal? As I recall, he patrols the eastern edge of Divinity's Reach. Hero, why don't you find out what he knows? I'll guard the queen.

Talking to Logan:

Logan Thackeray: Maybe Hal transferred out of Tervelan's unit because he found out what Tervelan did. See how much he can tell you about the Falcon's disappearance.
Talk quest option tango.png If he knows something, I'll get him to talk.
Good. I want to make sure Jennah's safe, so you're on your own. Find Hal at the eastern edge od Divinity's Reach, and see what he knows.
Talk quest option tango.png I'll check in soon.

Talking to NPCs:

Queen Jennah: Arton served as a minister under my father, the King. He's always been supportive of my rule. Could he really be working against me?
Charisma Captain Thackeray and Countess Anise will ensure your safety, Your Majesty. I'll look into this.
Thank you, hero. I'm glad to know that this matter is in good hands.
Talk end option tango.png You'll be safe, Your Majesty, and I'll discover the truth of this. I swear it.
Dignity Captain Tervelan convinced us that he was communicating with Minister Arton, Your Majesty.
Find out everything you can. This is deeply troubling.
Talk end option tango.png I will, Your Majesty.
Talk end option tango.png Your Majesty, I will do my best.
Countess Anise: Accusing a minister in front of the queen? I knew you were bold, but I didn't realize you were fearless.
Talk end option tango.png Not fearless. Determined. That traitor won't get away with this.
Minister Caudecus: You're stirring up quite a fuss with these accusations. Let's hope you find evidence to justify this commotion.
Talk end option tango.png I will, Minister, and I look forward to presenting it to the queen.
Logan Thackeray: You'd better get going. Hal patrols the eastern edge of Divinity's Reach. I'll be standing by if you need help.
Talk end option tango.png I'm on my way.

Open World[edit]

Cinematic with Sergeant Hal:

<Character name>: Sergeant Hal? I need to talk to you about Captain Tervelan.
Sergeant Hal: Merciful Grenth. I knew this day would come. Did Tervelan send you to kill me?
<Character name>: No, calm down. Thackeray sent me. But tell me: why would Tervelan want you killed?
Sergeant Hal: I delivered Tervelan's private messages to the ministry and...to the woods. I didn't ask who the notes were for, but...oh gods, I knew. I transferred out the moment I could. You have to believe me.
<Character name>: So that's how Tervelan communicated with the centaurs. Who was his contact in the Ministry?
Sergeant Hal: I don't know, but Dansky might. She was a Falcon before transferring to the Lionguard. She's stationed at Black Haven now.

Delanian Foothills[edit]

As the bandits attack in Black Haven:

Lionguard: Here comes trouble!
Lionguard: This oil should chase off the bandits at the door.
Lionguard: We should destroy those mortars with cannon fire. I'm a terrible shot—you do it!
Lionguard: Guard yourselves! They've broken through!

When approaching the cannons:

Bandit Cannoneer: Gah! I told you that you were taking too long! The attack's already started!
Bandit Cannoneer: I'm hurrying as fast as I can. You want this to blow up in our face?
Bandit Cannoneer: Better that, than some hero comes along to foul everything up while you're dawdling.

Talking to Dansky:

Lionguard Danksy: I don't have time to talk right now.
Ferocity You'd better. You could be tried for treason.
Treason! What have I done?
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about serving under Captain Tervelan. Did you know he betrayed Falcon Company?
I was only following orders! I knew nothing of treason! I just delivered messages.
Talk more option tango.png Messages that endangered the Seraph. Messages that got their patrol routes into centaur hands.
Oh, Dwayna. I swear I didn't know. Look, sometimes those centaurs sell captives to slavers—human bandits—and there's a group of them operating out of a camp to the east.
Talk end option tango.png I'll look into that. Now get out of my sight.
Talk end option tango.png A message? That's all I needed to know.
Talk end option tango.png If you don't know, you probably can't help.
Dignity Your help could clear up an important legal matter.
A legal matter? In that case, I'll do what I can to help.
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about serving under Captain Tervelan. Did you know he betrayed Falcon Company?
Tervelan's a horrible man and a bully. Serving under him was no picnic. Asking questions was like volunteering for corporal discipline. We knew to keep our mouths shut.
Talk more option tango.png Is there any chance that part of Falcon Company could still be alive?
If the centaurs took them captive, they'd sell the prisoners to human slavers. There's a bandit camp to the east that dabbles in the slave trade. You could look there...
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for your help.
Talk end option tango.png I see. That's everything I wanted to know.
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. I don't think you can help.
Charisma Please? You would be of such help to us.
It sounds important. I'd be glad to help. What do you need?
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about serving under Captain Tervelan. Did you know he betrayed Falcon Company? (Same as above.)
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. I don't have any questions for you.
Talk more option tango.png I need you to answer some questions.
I suppose, if it's important. What do you need?
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about serving under Captain Tervelan. Did you know he betrayed Falcon Company? (Same as above.)
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. I don't have any questions for you.
Talk end option tango.png I won't bother you then.

Cinematic after the attack on Black Haven:

Lionguard Dansky: Those bandits caught us off guard, but they didn't steal anything. It was as if they just wanted to kill people.
<Character name>: I suspect they were here to kill you, Dansky. I need to speak with you. I'm investigating accusations of treason related to the fall of Falcon Company.
Lionguard Dansky: You have no idea how glad I am to hear that. I always suspected Tervelan was rotten, but I had no proof.
Lionguard Dansky: Falcon Company was the finest unit I ever served with. If I hadn't been recovering from an injury, I'd have been with them that day.
<Character name>: You must know something. Tell me: did you ever see Tervelan meet with a minister?
Lionguard Dansky: No. My job was to deliver messages for the Seraph. The ones I brought from Tervelan were addressed to "Minister Arton"—but I know for a fact that Arton never got those letters.
Lionguard Dansky: After Falcon Company fell, I found out that the guy I'd been delivering them to didn't even work in Arton's office. Nobody'd ever seen him before.
Lionguard Dansky: I delivered Falcon Company's last patrol route to that guy, too. After the unit was attacked, I put it together...and I just couldn't stay in the Seraph.
<Character name>: Do you know the route they were to patrol?
Lionguard Dansky: Sure. They were supposed to go through the Kessex Hills. Here, I'll mark it on your map.

My story[edit]

Queen's Throne Room loading screen.jpg

Captain Thackeray and I told the queen what we learned. Minister Arton claims innocence, of course. We need more evidence to take him to trial, so I'm going to speak [sic] a former member of Tervelan's command who might know more.

Sergeant Hal left Tervelan's command after the Screaming Falcons were ambushed. He directed me toward a Lionguard who was also a member of the company. She might know more.

Corporal Dansky, now Deputy Dansky, told me that she carried messages for Tervelan—including information on the Screaming Falcon's patrol route. Dansky believes that any surviving members of the Screaming Falcons might be at the bandit camp to the east.

Notes[edit]

  • The three merchants at Black Haven function as actual vendors.
  • The mortar that blows up on the two bandits (after their little dialogue) can be repaired and used against enemies.
