Walkthrough[edit]
Open your mail, or go to Salma District to be told the contents of the letter.
Speak with the informant at the plaza. As soon as the dialogue ends, be prepared for a fight. Set up traps, spells or spirits before the dialogue. Several waves of assassins will come at you, two to five at a time. You are alone against the first wave, so hold tight. Casters should try to back up and squeeze the assassins into stairways for AOE damage. Help will arrive after the first wave; use them as decoys to back off and heal if necessary. Note that they will be defeated by most waves if you do not help them.

Dialogue[edit]
Mail that starts this part of the storyline:
A Friend. You Are Not Alone My friend, |
- Talking to Zachariah in Salma District instead of reading the letter
- Zachariah: Good to see you, <Character name>! Listen, a stranger came by and left this letter for you. Said it was urgent.
- Thanks. Let's see what it says.
- The envelope contains a short note and half of a small amulet. It seems to match the half-amulet you've carried since childhood—the only memento you have of your parents.
- Read the note.
- The note reads, "I have an important message for the famous hero of Shaemoor. Meet me in the Central Plaza as soon as you can, and I will explain everything." It's unsigned.
- Close the envelope.
- Talking to Zachariah again
- Zachariah: Weren't you gonna meet that informant who sent the letter?
- Yes, but first: who gave you the letter?
- Some stranger passing through. Never seen him before. Said he didn't want to give the package to anybody but you, but he'd trust me since I'm Seraph.
- You didn't think that was strange?
- Course it's strange! Think I'm a drooling loony? I just figured it was some fan of the hero of Shaemoor. Strange just kinda seems to follow you.
- I don't like it, but it may be my best chance to learn something. (Same as below.)
- Thanks for the information, Zachariah.
- Thanks for the information, Zachariah.
- I don't like it, but it may be my best chance to learn something.
- Well, just mind yourself out there. You can handle a lot, sure, but it never hurts to play it safe.
- Do you remember who gave you the letter? (Same as above.)
- Thanks for the advice. We'll talk later.
- Yeah, I should probably get going. Good-bye.
- Talking to Lord Faren at the start
- Lord Faren: Heed my advice: no pet is ever truly trained. It's just a beast on a leash.
- Lord Faren: Why, <Character name>! Fancy seeing you here. I was just wooing these fine ladies. You aren't here to, er, cut in? Are you?
- I'm not sure what you're implying. Thanks? Watch this one, ladies, he's tricky.
- I'm only teasing, old friend. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to meet someone.
If you're wooing them, I doubt they'll care to speak with anyone else.
- Ah, yes. I see that odd-looking fellow making eyes at you. Well, there's no accounting for taste. Do be careful, though. He looks...shifty.
- I will. Thanks for the advice.
Sorry. I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm afraid I must meet someone. Excuse me.
- I wouldn't dream of interfering with your work. Please continue.
- My...work? Oh. Please! As if talking to gorgeous ladies like these is anything but the purest pleasure.
- Then I'll leave you to it. Excuse me.
- Good to see you, Faren, but I have to go. Take care.
- Cutscene with the informant
- <Character name>: Are you the one who sent me the amulet? What can you tell me about my family? Please, I have to know.
- Informant: I am and I can, Hero of Shaemoor. I thought you might be interested. I'm not just here to talk, though; I aim to reunite you with your parents.
- <Character name>: Reunite us? Where are they? Why haven't they looked for me sooner?
- Informant: Aw, don't be like that. I came a long way to find you, you know. And I'm sure they'll explain everything when you meet them... in the Mists! Attack!
- After the cutscene and enemies begin spawning
- Informant: Time to die, "Hero."
- Informant points at <Character name>.
- Lord Faren: This just isn't the peaceful day I was hoping for.
- When Exemplar Mehid and Exemplar Salia show up
- Exemplar Mehid: Hold fast, stranger. The Shining Blade is here!
- Intermittently during the battle
- Exemplar Mehid: Is that all? Our blades are still thirsty.
- Exemplar Salid: Hold fast here—these filthy dogs run in packs!
- Exemplar Mehid: Our enemies gain in number.
- Exemplar Salia: More incoming!
- Exemplar Salia: Death to the White Mantle!
- When the final enemy spawn shows up
- Elite Assassin: Hah! Now we get to kill three instead of just one!
- After killing the last enemy
- Exemplar Salia: As soon as you catch your breath, we should talk.
- Villager cheers for <Character name>.
- Noble cheers for <Character name>.
- Cutscene upon talking to either exemplar
- Exemplar Salia: Excellent work handling those foul cultists, citizen. May they know Grenth's justice. I'm Exemplar Salia of the Shining Blade. This is Exemplar Mehid.
- <Character name>: A pleasure, I'm sure. You say those were cultists?
- Exemplar Mehid: White Mantle, to be exact. Ancient enemies of Kryta. They often target defenders of the kingdom and its queen.
- <Character name>: I thought the White Mantle were just a children's tale told on Mad King's day. Why would they have this amulet from my parents, though? Why bother attacking me?
- Exemplar Mehid: They're quite real, as you've seen. And judging from the symbol on that amulet, I'd say your family has been very loyal to the kingdom.
- Exemplar Salia: A mark of the king's favor? That's interesting. Probably from Queen Jennah's father, if I had to guess.
- Exemplar Salia: We're out to raid a White Mantle hideout we found recently. A hunting lodge near Beetletun. It'll be dangerous, but the cultists there may know more.
- <Character name>: I think I know that hunting lodge. I'll meet you there, and I won't take no for an answer. I can help you on your raid, and maybe I can learn what happened to my parents.
- Talking to Exemplar Mehid after the cutscene
- Exemplar Mehid: The White Mantle are usually more covert about their actions, especially assassination attempts. You must be a high-value target.
- Why me? Why now? They must be either desperate or foolish to attack me so close to the palace.
- If your body were found here, it would send a message to the people of Kryta: Queen Jennah can't protect her friends, even if she keeps them close. They wanted to bring fear.
- That's some message. I'm starting to dislike these people more and more.
- Look at it this way: if the White Mantle is your enemy, then the Shining Blade is your friend. We'll help you uncover the truth.
- Who are the White Mantle? Why do you hate them so much?
- The White Mantle once gripped Kryta with an iron fist. They lied to the populace to keep them subservient, and nearly eradicated the royal line. Their followers did...terrible things.
- Yes. Queen Jennah sees to it that every citizen has a voice. Let's find these traitors and root them out before they get a foothold.
- We will. See you at the lodge.
That sounds horrible. Now I'm even more glad I get to fight them. The people of Kryta should be free.
- Not with the Shining Blade around. We'll fight them to our last breath. We protect the queen and her populace.
- Now I have new reason to respect the Blade's dedication. See you at the lodge.
Ominous. Do you think the cult could ever regain such power?
- Thank you for the information. I'll see you at the lodge.
- Thanks. I appreciate the sentiment.
- I'll send them my own message soon. See you at the lodge.
- Then we'd better take them out first. See you at the hunting lodge.
- Talking to Exemplar Salia after the cutscene
- Exemplar Salia: Don't worry about this mess. We'll see that it's handled discreetly. See you at the hunting lodge.
- Thank you for saving me.
- Think nothing of it. Luckily, Mehid and I were nearby. But you handled yourself remarkably well.
- I have to ask: why are you helping me?
- The White Mantle is targeting you, and you seem to be related to someone the royal family decorated for loyalty. If aiding you harms the Mantle and helps Kryta, the Shining Blade is on your side.
- We were glad to assist. You fought well, but anyone alone can be overwhelmed.
- What's the White Mantle?
- The White Mantle is an ancient cult that once plagued Kryta. It served foul, demonic monsters called the "Unseen."
- I can't say for sure, but if your parents fought for the King, then they probably made enemies of the Mantle.
- I guess we'll find out when we dig deeper. I'll see you at the lodge.
They didn't teach us that piece of history in school. Why would they be after me? Or my parents?
- Thanks again for your help. I'll meet you at the hunting lodge.
- It's best to work as a team. Take care, and I'll see you at the lodge.
I'm grateful. Thanks for helping me defend against that ambush.
- What exactly are the White Mantle? Those people looked like bandits.
- (same as What's the White Mantle? above)
- Thank you. See you at the hunting lodge.
- Still, I appreciate the assistance. See you at the lodge.
- See you then.
My story[edit]
|
- Previous text
- I received a mysterious message, promising information about my parents if I met with the anonymous sender. It's risky, but this could be my only chance to know what really happened to them.
I met up with the mysterious informant, only to find an ambush! With the help of Salia and Mehid, agents for the Shining Blade, I managed to defeat the assassins. Salia and Mehid believe that the assassins are actually White Mantle cultists tied to an investigation they were pursuing. They agreed to take me on their next mission: to break into a cultist cell.
