Could I suggest a page? (Set 13)[edit]

The current Defiance Bar page is a mess, the tables are incredibly bloated and ugly. I'm personally terrible with tables and I don't even know how I would go about redesigning it, but it's obvious that if we're going to include every CC skill in the game on the page that it needs an overhaul first. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Towelcat (talkcontribs) at 15:33, 9 September 2016 (UTC).

Maybe create a subpage for candidate pages in case people want to grab them? There's also Special:WantedPages that would help? --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:34, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
I've been using WantedPages for some of these. People can feel free to nominate pages to receive focus here on the talk page. I'll archive older discussion if it gets too long. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 04:58, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
Create a candidate section on the bottom of this article page for people to add suggestions. Then all you have to do is run through the candidates and add them to the set. Archive once a month.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:12, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
I'd rather be more informal. Call out here or send me a mail if you have an article in mind, especially if it's an article that doesn't exist at all yet. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 05:11, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Sure, whatever works. I suggested the article page because some users may find posting on a talk page or navigating to a subpage more formal and daunting than a user page.--Relyk ~ talk < 01:36, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
Working on the WvW page, I found the Borderlands Bloodlust page I was linking to says it's outdated, and the Alpine Borderlands page has no mention of ruins. Might be something to bring up. Teaniel.9052 (talk) 20:23, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
I was the one who created the table for this page, and I agree, it's unsightly. What I had in mind for it at the start was a tab for every class and their skills, and that would hide all other skills. I do not believe this functionality exists. One option would be to hide every class's skills in a spoiler tag or something similar, then show all of their skills in a neater table when clicked. The problem with this is that it would create an unnecessary amount of drop downs. I want to avoid having people navigate away from the page just to see their list of skills. Question about the promotion of this project[edit]

Hi there,

First of all, thanks for organizing this initiative. It's quite unique!

How do you feel about us promoting it on the GW2 social media channel? (if you're ok with the idea, it'd be great if we could make it extra clear that this is a community-driven project)

--Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:17, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Thank you. I've adjusted the text to make it more explicit that this is a community-driven project. The more exposure that this project gets, the more participation we'll have, and I would definitely like to see as many people as possible contribute to the wiki. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 17:14, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your efforts, we'll start promoting this regularly asap :) --Stephane Lo Presti talk 17:21, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
You might also want to include something about accepting gold donations so you don't run out in like a week after the greedy hordes get wind of this. :P - Felix Omni 17:52, 9 September 2016 (UTC
There's no risk of running out of gold. I've acknowledged the players who have sent me gold, but I originally planned to entirely self-fund this. If hordes want to make helpful edits, I welcome it! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 17:59, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Image info (Sets 40 & 108)[edit]

If you could stick this and this in somewhere, it would make people's lives easier so they don't have to take pictures we already have, or if we don't have a picture, to make sure they don't have to take it twice. Also Shaman's Rookery and The Breached Wall has some red links if you wanna poke people at those in the future. - Doodleplex 18:39, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

I added a subtle link to the image-taking guide, but it's my opinion that the Shared Model Project is over-implemented. Context is important, and this is not a Grave Robber. She might look the same, but she's not even near a grave! We had a more appropriate image for this article, but you tagged it for deletion. More examples can be found with named characters, like these bankers: Argeid, Froda, Ikka, Mona, Randver, and Tekk.
Where the Shared Model Project excels is with enemies that have identical appearances in identical circumstances, like the Veteran versions of standard enemies. But if the option is to have too many correct images or too few, I'd go with the former.
Thanks for the leads on those two jumping puzzles. I expect that we'll get to those soon. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 18:32, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
To be fair, the female robber isn't standing next to a grave either. —Ventriloquist 19:46, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
In short, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". I try to get pictures in areas as neutral as possible to suit most NPCs, but for some NPCs it really is impossible(though that norn banker needs to be replaced with a less terrible image lol). In general, the idea was to make the wiki easier to maintain picture wise, and that's all there was to it. - Doodleplex 21:56, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Krewe Leader Dobbs (Set 15)[edit]

After spending four hours near Dobbs with him not doing anything, it looks like he is still broken despite being "fixed". Llarryllamma (talk) 20:45, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Best bet to document this will be after an update then (aka Tuesday at the known earliest). Konig (talk) 20:47, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
I'll upload the text from the screenshots I took of the succesful event I just partook in. Not sure exactly what you wanted but I'm not sticking around until the defense event pops up. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:19, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Sloth Queen (Set 19)[edit]

With regards to "It would be good to get someone to confirm that this is the same model as Slothasor, but I can't tell the difference without a side-by-side comparison." It 100% is the same model and texture. I've seen Slothy enough to recognize him or any pretentious look-alikes :D. Her attacks are different, but the attack animations themselves are also the same as Slothy. -Darqam (talk) 13:35, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the confirmation! I'll adjust my reply accordingly. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 13:40, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

for Byron Miller (Set 23)[edit]

Please add a note to not upload any photos of the guy that aren't either compatible licensing, used in ArenaNet materials, or have express written permission from him. We've (I've) gotten in trouble over that before. ;) - Felix Omni 14:39, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Noted! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:55, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
I've found Byron Miller's face in several videos of Guild Chat. Can we take a screenshot and place his face on wiki like that? One of mentioned videos: YouTube --Allene Dawn/tojepohoda
I could be terribly wrong, but wouldn't Guild Chat be considered ArenaNet materials, and therefore getting a screenshot from that would be okay? - Doodleplex 23:20, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
I agree. This is from Byron representing the company in an official capacity; it's not just some private photo from his Facebook page. I say go for it. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 12:15, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Cool. Uploaded :) Thanks for agreeing. --Allene Dawn/tojepohoda

Voice Actor page[edit]

Some(okay a lot) of the NPCs listed there come from IMBD which is also user edited and not always correct as a result, not to mention some of those NPC might be characters that don't actually exist in the game/never made the final cut. As is, I'm currently asking on the Q&A page to see if one actress actually has any npcs that made it into the game, because if she isn't her page should probably be removed, so if you could leave a note to err on the side of caution in regards to that, I'd be grateful. - Doodleplex 19:08, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

I didn't even think IMDb being a (bad) source. I wonder if some of these character names were placeholders. Could we ask for something more official that we could edit into a suitable article? Surely at least partial records have been kept somewhere. I'm not sure how exhaustive we want to get, but an article that actually has all of the story characters would be nice. Some of these voice actors are undercredited here. I remember when I first started playing, I liked the voice acting but couldn't help but think I probably couldn't throw a rock without it bouncing off three Yuri Lowenthals. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 09:09, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
I'd be willing to bet they probably were placeholders, and sometimes the name is slightly changed and the npc did make it in game(I found a few like that and linked them). It certainly couldn't hurt to ask for something more official, though I imagine for some of the bit parts they might not keep records of who did what, so perhaps things that can't be found could be notated as being "unconfirmed" or "name may have changed/was changed", something along those lines? And yeah, I described the game as "great graphics, great music, and half of it is voiced by Troy Baker or Yuri Lowenthal" heh(and now with HoT, it's "See how many times Steve Blum voiced a character that's not a charr." So far I'm at 4/5). - Doodleplex 17:05, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

The Destroyer of Hope (Set 27)[edit]

The Destroyer of Hope already has a page. Lysander (talk) 15:55, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

Nice catch! Six articles linked to "Destroyer of Hope". I will correct these. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 16:08, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

Reward track items (Set 41)[edit]

I noticed that some reward track items such as Moa Loot Box do not link back to their sources, Ember Bay Reward Track and Bloodstone Fen Reward Track in this case. I'm doubting we'll be able to get the Content section filled out, but the Acquisition section can be sourced via the "What links here" button on the left.

Unstable Strongbox can be used as an example, and I do not know how many other reward tracks currently have this problem. G R E E N E R 02:22, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Great lead! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 15:08, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Tis the Season... (Set 46)[edit]

Suggestion/Possible lead for you: Baron Wycker is related to the Mad King Thorn and the Bloody Prince, and was the only reference to the existence of the Prince. Apparently was part of an event, maybe old youtube videos might turn up something? Also if perhaps people could find/create pages for the other Priory NPCs related to Knocking On The Door would be nice too. Event pumpkin (map icon).png - Doodleplex 21:56, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Side note: Only existed in 2012. Same with two other meta events, one in Kessex and one in Gendarran. I've already had a quick search found nothing. Hopefully others can do better for a 2 gold incentive. Konig (talk) 22:19, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Golden Lost Badges (Set 58)[edit]

For the Golden Lost Badges, I suggest creating a page for the achievement (Go for the Gold) that awards the mastery point and adding their locations there, instead of on the page for the Golden Lost Badges. Maybe do something similar to the format for Lost Coin achievements, but I would definitely try to include pictures if possible, since some badges can be pretty tricky. Also, some of the locations for badges may already be found on/are part of the Drydock Scratch jumping puzzle guide as well, since nearly all of them except for 3 can be found there, so it might not be bad to use info from there as well. I was also thinking, maybe having additional tips for those who have gliding along, with the regular standard route, might not be a bad idea, but I'll leave that up to you. - Doodleplex 17:50, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Locations are typically put on the achievement's article for scavenger hunt. See Mursaat Token, A Study in Gold and others. Konig (talk) 21:58, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Images (Set 57)[edit]

I'll gladly accept a few hundred gold for my tireless efforts in uploading pictures over the last couple of years ;D On a more serious note, does pointing at a shared image count? SarielV 20 x 20px 07:23, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Your images are much appreciated! This week's bounty doesn't include your illustrious history, but putting an existing image on a page that doesn't have one would count for this Set. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 08:33, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Shared images is the wiki's preference. Whether it counts to Dashface or not shouldn't matter, that's what you go with! :P Konig (talk) 12:58, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Good thing I left about 1500 or so entries without images. Not so good for you ;D You could really lose your shirt on this. SarielV 20 x 20px 07:31, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
You can only get Set 57's two gold once. It's not two gold per image. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 12:18, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
I expect then that the images I've added over the weekend will cover than nicely. If not, let me know and I will keep updating it as I continue working. SarielV 20 x 20px 04:05, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Sets 66 (Set 67)[edit]

Set 66 — November 16-22, 2016 (crack in the ice etc.) This started yesterday on the 15th. Unless you're in Australia and were up very late I guess. Set 66 — November 16-22, 2016 (list of armor sets etc.) This should be set 67, because it's the one after 66. Right now they have identical headers which is kind of confusing. -Azurem (talk) 15:58, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks! Corrected. And you're right, I'm up late in Australia. Though each set appears to span 7 days, the actual window is more like 8 days because I try to factor in both extremes for time zones. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 16:55, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Question about gems[edit]

Hi, i wanted to ask if it would be possible to either somehow dorectly receive the gems or, have them exchanged with gold, since all the useful things in the TP (acc upgrades like bank, ore nodes, etc) cannot be gifted and the costumes/skins are just a waste; better have the gems/gold and use it for buying said upgrades^^ User Kyx signature Skull.gifKyx 22:47, 20 November 2016 (UTC)

I really wish that those were giftable, as I run a weekly guild competition and those would make great prizes. However, not everything giftable in the Gem Store is cosmetic. For instance, Bag Slot Expansions are very useful, and you are welcome to wait for a sale if you think that their current price isn't cost effective. Convenience items like tools and passes are also available. And, on the cosmetic front, gliders and outfits are technically account upgrades. The reason that the gems aren't transferable to gold is that I personally would prefer to see this component of the prize directly support the game I enjoy, and I encourage you to save up the gold component if you would like to have some extra gems to spend on non-giftable items. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 21:03, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes bags/tools/everlasting salvage kits are useful indeed.... and that's why i already got 'em :P im pretty much fixed with buying upgrades, but skins for me are pretty much a downgrade from the leggy weapon/glider/back stuff i currently have (with armor included, when it will come). said gold would go again into gem to stuff anyways, i can assure u, since i still need 3/5 home ore nodes; and when those are done, the super costy shared inventory slots User Kyx signature Skull.gifKyx 01:01, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Page for suggestion (Set 184)[edit]

Alchemy_Table_(Hunting_Banks). There's a whole lot of combinations needing detailed, and it's difficult to do a lot of them since completing the heart shuts down access. SarielV 20 x 20px 07:49, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

A Crack in the Ice will probably dominate much of the next week or two, but I will keep this in mind for the near future. Thanks. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 21:03, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Understood. 184.18.209.226 20:01, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
I tested this out to see if I could get the combinations table started, but the choices didn't seem to affect my results. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:52, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
The article's talk page suggests otherwise now. Perhaps I should revisit this. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:12, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Page Suggestion (Set 92)[edit]

Graphical user interface. I'm not sure if this is the best place for it, but I think for new players it would be nice to have somewhere that lists the possible badges that can be displayed next to nameplate (with pictures) since I think it's a pretty common question to get asked what all of these mean. Additionally, it might be helpful to note things like mentor and commander tags, since that also gets asked about. Caithnard (talk) 11:50, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

Suggestion heard. This is now Set 92! I'm not sure if new players will think to check this page for that kind of information, but it definitely belongs in the article given what else it documents. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:18, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Wintersday (Set 109)[edit]

Maybe an idea to do something like "Improve pages relating to Wintersday achievements"? A lot of pages refer at best to the 2015 editions of Wintersday or even earlier editions, and don't have anything about this year's edition. I know nothing has changed significantly but people might not know that in the future. For example the Toypocalypse page has nothing about the 2016 achievements under the achievements section. And this is the case with a lot of other Wintersday-related pages. Also it might be useful to get a template for Wintersday, it's difficult to navigate pages now. Please let me know what you think. --Paw (talk) 12:31, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

After several specific items in previous days, today's is a request for general improvement. Too bad I'd been doing that all along XD Ah well. SarielV 20 x 20px 23:07, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Sorry for not seeing this comment until now! I don't know how I overlooked it. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 19:08, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Image Guide[edit]

Small request, can you please make the link to the "How to take pictures" guide more obvious in the top or (and this might be better because people are more likely to see it)at least have it part of the description of sets that might need it? I would really appreciate it. - Doodleplex 19:03, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

I plan to rewrite/expand the introduction sometime. When I do, I will feature that link more prominently. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 05:26, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Set 89: Take the pioneer golem back to its maker with its data intact (Pioneer Golem 02) (Set 89)[edit]

(moved from project page)

Finally found this event! It is not at the south end of Rata Novus lane at all. Managed to add some stuff to it and the golem. -Azurem (talk)

You seem to have found the Pioneer 01 event instead; compare the maps between events. I considered the Pioneer 02 and 03 events to be mythical until I personally discovered Pioneer 02 waiting to start the event at the very south of Rata Novus lane, though I was on a hero point run with a group and couldn't stop to document. I could have been mistaken about which one it was, but it was definitely a Pioneer Golem and it was definitely right at the south end of the lane where it opens up into the giant cavern. -- Dashface User Dashface.png
I definitely found 02 If you check my map it is a different route to the map on 01. I guess the one you saw at the bottom of Rata Novus must have been 03. -Azurem (talk) 22:45, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
It's likely all three events wind up going to the same place, need to check my screenshots, as I have stuff for both 2 and 3 somewhere(probably under my pile of quaggan pictures >_>) - Doodle
Okay, so... It's possible that all three golems can use all three routes and it's just random where they spawn? If that's true I think the event pages should be merged as they all seem to have identical objectives and dialogue and stuff. -Azurem (talk)
Not quite, the dialogue you got for 02 doesn't match what I had for 01, and they are two differently named NPCs. Also I still haven't looked at my screenshots but I'm pretty darn sure I found 03 in a different spot that that. - Doodleplex 18:32, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Where do the gems come from?[edit]

I was curious if these gems come from Arena Net, or are people donating them. Also feel free to not disclose if that is what you prefer. Curriousity just got the better of me so I had to ask.-Coldwater (talk)

Fairly certain this is a 100% fan done. I think Dash just converts gold to gems. Konig (talk) 00:30, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Yep, except it's cash to gems. As someone who works, gold to gems seems wasteful to me. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 09:56, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Honestly spending so much cash for the wiki is the wasteful option, but I'm a stickler when it comes to my wallet. Konig (talk) 17:50, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Spirit Shards from Winter Wonderland? (Set 109)[edit]

(moved from project page)

Winter Wonderland - Added Spirit Shard as a rare reward. -- Underdark.3726

Would you mind being able to verify that on a non-Level 80 toon? I think level 80's get spirit shards from "leveling up" and I think those activity can cause that to happen if you're in there long enough. ~Doodle
The Puzzle is seen as a pvp map. I don't think you can get exp there and lvl up. But will try to verify. -- Underdark.3726
It's hard to tell because there's no exp bar (the pvp bar replaces it like you say). But if you enable the chat option that says item drops you can see "you received 2540 experience" every time you complete it. I did the exact same thing and added spirit shards a few days ago before noticing and taking it off again :P —Azurem 23:48, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
I can corroborate the gaining of XP in Wintersday "PvP" modes. I have not tested the jp, but I have been levelling a lowbie in Bell Choir. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 00:30, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
Can confirm; you get the spirit shard from levelling up, not from the activity. --— Cronos 00:57, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
Damn :). I edited the page again and deleted the spirit shard as an award. Sorry and thank you all for the info. -- Underdark.3726

About Soldier (PvP) (Set 114)[edit]

So, can confirm that red team is Charr. You can see the red lord room in this youtube video, and the blue lord room can be seen around ~3 mins on this yt vid. Happy editing. -Darqam 14:39, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Page suggestion: All HoT hero challenges[edit]

The HoT hero challenge events are either fully undocumented or greatly underdocumented across the board. Would be a good 'wide' article offer to consider. Konig (talk) 18:50, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree. Let's do more of these in the future. I'm not sure whether to do them 'wide' or just one at a time over several weeks. I feel like things get better focus when they don't have to compete with so many other items, and each of these has a reasonable amount to document if some of the NPCs don't even have articles. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 05:26, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Set suggestions (Sets 126 and 130)[edit]

There are several events in or around Thaumanova Reactor that need to be fleshed out. In particular, I found that no foes are listed for Destroy the ice monster, nor Destroy the C.L.E.A.N. 5000 golem stolen by the Inquest. Veteran Angry Deepwater Crab and a number of the upscaled foes still need pages. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 18:54, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Several upscaled foe pages created, but need significant additions. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 01:11, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
All of the things you specifically highlighted have now been the focus of a Set. Thank you for the suggestion. If you'd like to add more related (or unrelated) things like this, please let me know. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:28, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Destroy the C.L.E.A.N. 5000 golem stolen by the Inquest only happens if defending the golem fails. And defending the golem is really easy (basically soloable). The last edit to the event page that isn't just formatting was 2013, before megaservers. Now I doubt it's possible to get a Metrica map where literally nobody is doing Fire Ele. —Azurem 15:11, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
^ That's actually not too hard to do. If it's not a daily, and if the boss isn't up, it can happen. I know I've seen it happen at least once when I started playing, could have sworn I've seen it recently too. Will try to keep my eyes open for it. - Doodleplex 18:50, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
The escort happens without the boss at the end? That would make it much more likely to not have anyone doing it. —Azurem 19:15, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, it's been nicknamed a "false pre": a pre-event for a boss, but no boss actually spawns because it's not up yet. - Doodleplex 19:18, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

Page suggestions: Divinity's Reach (Sets 134, 135, 136, & 137)[edit]

I suggest you put up some DR pages over the next week. With the trailer for next episode very clearly having an assault on DR (though it looks mainly like it'll be an assault just outside DR), it's possible they are deciding to pull another LA. Making sure all ambient dialogue, NPCs+their dialogue, and images are taken care of would be a smart move. I doubt they'll destroy DR - they didn't destroy the Grove in Season 2 - but it's better to be safe than sorry. Konig (talk) 03:41, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

I completely agree. Visiting Southsun to look for gaps is postponed, and DR will get some attention between now and the release of The Head of the Snake. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:28, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Just occurred to me, but while I doubt that it'll get changed, it might be wise to ensure northern Queensdale, western Harathi, and northern Brisban are also all documented, since they are all potentially near the new map - if they create a portal to the new map from any of them, there may be changes. Konig (talk) 02:08, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
Although nothing much ended up changing in DR, we still uncovered so many old things to document! Our visit to Southsun helped too. If you find anything else that you think should be documented better in either location, please let me know. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:12, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Can I Suggest... (Set 177 & 422)[edit]

So I came to suggest something, but now I've got two suggestions. First one is to make a separate page just for set suggestions so the more question related/current set question related questions are easier found here. Second one the set suggestions: after Heart of thorns the defiance bar was added, but we still have a lot of NPCs that still use Defiance and Unshakable on their pages. Excluding Alpha Drake and Bria which are known to not have defiance bars but still use those effect like that, if people could help find who has one and who doesn't have one would be a big help. Also if people could find the rest of the new stuff that came with Super Adventure Festival, that might be a good idea to fix up before the next SAB rolls around so things don't get mixed up as what released when. - Doodleplex 21:39, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

This section is the first one in six weeks. Discussion is not so frequent here that article/topic suggestions will be buried. Regarding your suggestions, the Defiance/Unshakable search could be an interesting one; I'll add it soon. The Super Adventure Festival article is definitely lacking! Are there any other pages related to this that you think should also be addressed before April? -- Dashface User Dashface.png 16:09, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Well just keep a separate suggestion page in the back of your mind for the future, you never know. In regards to SAB, that's the only thing I could think of off the top of my head as anything else would require it to be up:
Also, while I would love walkthroughs for Tribulation mode zones, unlike our lovely guides for infantile/regular mode which for the most part only needed pictures for the hidden rooms(and I didn't need an infinite continue coin to fix/polish/make heh), it would probably be very picture heavy due to how precise you need to be to the point where it might be silly, but then again I was only able to clear World 1 Zone 1 in Tribulation mode so maybe the rest isn't as crazy, I don't know. If it did happen though, maybe split it like dungeons and have a page for the regular/infantile mode aka the easy "Story mode" and one for Tribulation mode aka the harder "Explorable mode" for the walkthroughs. - Doodleplex 17:32, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
I like these suggestions, but some of them are pretty hard to do when SAB has yet to return. I've used a few of them, and I'll return to this list when Super Adventure Box is back. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:12, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Well yeah, these are the only SAB ones I can think of, but all of them require SAB to be up, so they won't be much good for another week or two. - Doodleplex 17:51, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Current Set for Baubles (Set 192)[edit]

I have on small issue with the current set for Bachelor of Baubles, as that's covered entirely in the walkthrough for Dark Woods, and the rest of the zone pages follow suit in showing a guide to collect all baubles/hidden rooms/etc. Making a separate page is a redundant, and should really just redirect to the walkthrough on that page. - Doodleplex 02:38, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

I posit that we should move the Bachelor of Baubles information to its own article and make the Dark Woods a walkthrough of the level only. For comparison, our dungeon and fractal walkthroughs shouldn't have optional achievement guides mixed in with the walkthrough. If first-time players come to the article now to look for how to get through the level, they're drowning in a sea of optional information. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 09:58, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
While I normally agree that sometimes achievements that involving finding and collecting objects hidden in various locations should have their own pages (ie the Lost Coins and Golden Badges), this isn't one of those cases where I feel that's a good idea. Most people(myself included, I went to the zone pages to see how to do stuff as I had never done SAB before) are going to go to the zone page to try to find out everything, all the baubles and rooms, and would probably start to ask where the baubles are if you removed them from the page. Additionally, Super Adventure Box, while we may categorize it as a dungeon, it really isn't, it's a platformer game, so having a guide to get everything on the zone page actually fits well with what Super Adventure Box is. If I may suggest a change to that set, I'd say change it to fix Rapids, as it's in sore need of help(missing baubles, outdated stuff, etc). - Doodleplex 20:33, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
Finishing the level and collecting everything in it are two very different goals. There are audiences for both sets of information. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 13:46, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
While true, I've never once heard nor seen anyone ask "how to beat the level" as there are Helping Hands in each zone that show exactly where to go. Not to mention, that's more or less what Infantile Mode is for, it shows you exactly where to go, so players know where to go in Normal mode. The only time people would be looking up a "how to beat the level" instead of "collect all the things" would be in Tribulation Mode. - Doodleplex 17:49, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
We should have one walkthrough per zone that covers getting through the zone, collecting all the baubles, finding all the hidden rooms, killing the queen bee dog and pointing out the shortcuts. That way someone can follow one single guide instead of following four/five different guides. J.Tesla (talk) 19:30, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
Putting bauble collection and secret room finding together makes sense. Mixing this with a simple guide of how to actually finish the level doesn't. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 12:35, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Solution: Make three guides on the zone pages. Put bauble guide and secret room/shop/decor room guide under two separate collapsible areas ala Jumping Puzzle walkthroughs. You can even put the latter (secret rooms, shops, and decor room locations) in the applicable locations of the main guide (so two guides only) with each "detour for room" under a collapsible segment. Konig (talk) 22:40, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) It appears so far the consensus is that in general is that all of the guides should be on the same page, not on separate achievement pages(which would basically be copy pasting the same thing twice or more, hence my initial concern). If truly needed, perhaps have a brief run through on top of how to just complete the level and put that under a spoiler tag, and then have the full walkthrough down below. Like Tesla said above, one guide is much easier to follow than four or five, and that way everything would be on the same page if somebody gets lost or turned around. - Doodleplex 06:44, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

My incentive in fleshing out the two articles was to merely document the baubles and not necessarily to provide yet another walkthrough. It was just another representation of the data in a way that tried to be accessible from just that one perspective. I just have 2 general comments.
  1. There's a tendency to inject guides/walkthroughs/advice/strategy in with factual documentation about certain subjects (namely raid encounters, SAB), which, in my opinion, sometimes leads to it doing neither well.
  2. Duplication is not necessarily bad when the intended audience and purpose are sufficiently different; I suppose the main downside is that keeping them in sync is a lot of manual work (especially in SAB, where we're relying on a walkthrough to define a canonical ordering of baubles/rooms).
That being said, I don't think it's impossible to have a unified article that serves both as documentation and walkthrough. Even so, I suspect that many users would find it easier to follow an image-heavy or video format; what can we do to make the wiki competitive? --Floodbars (talk) 02:08, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

Archived set page[edit]

Just a suggestion for ease of navigating the past archived sets in case somebody needed to find something there, it might not be a bad idea for it be broken up up into multiple pages like say by month or by certain number of sets. It's not a huge issue, just noticed it really quite long at the moment. - Doodleplex 21:19, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

I did consider splitting the archive when we got to 200, but it's more useful having them on the same page. Is there any technical restriction we're nearing? -- Dashface User Dashface.png 17:15, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
No, not that I'm aware of. Also 200 sets, dang! I kinda wanna say congrats in advance! =) - Doodleplex 17:36, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
I think there is a page size limitation if some sort. Up to about 130k bytes, a page is still usable, but performance becomes dodgy and saving edits can be a problem. It's why I've had to split my champ box research pages a couple times, generally by about 100k bytes. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 01:02, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

Dungeons (Set 199)[edit]

I was looking through some of the dungeon pages and there are a lot of red links and missing skill information for most enemies and bosses. Intricity (talk) 07:44, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Especially the optional stuff... Because "efficiency". Konig (talk) 01:42, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
It looks like every dungeon explorable article is a needy candidate. We can get to each of those. If anyone has any specific suggestions for dungeon NPC articles that exist but are particularly lacking, feel free to name them here. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 17:15, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Late SAB submission (Set 198)[edit]

The Super Adventure Box o' Fun page is severely lacking in comparison to the standard Box o' Fun page. Plenty of people got these for free, so perhaps this page could be revisited, or at least put on the list for next year.--Rain Spell (talk) 01:39, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Seeing as how I'm planning on splurging/spending the rest of my Bauble Bubbles on these anyway, I can certainly help out with this if it becomes a set. - Doodleplex 01:48, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
I strongly agree! I pushed this to the front of the queue in the hopes that more people will still remember they got a free one. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 17:15, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Random apperance (Set 232)[edit]

If an NPC has a note saying that they randomly generated appearance, it's really just so people don't update the NPC's picture every other day or leave update requests saying the image is wrong. The only time we state/use images of what other models an NPC uses more or less is if it's a) an enemy NPC with multiple appearance due to location(such as minotaurs, Hawkeye Griffon or Ettins) or gender(ie Aetherblades, pirates, etc.) or b) a story npc with a different appearance in open world. Listing what models an NPC can be seen using is just not worth stating, and can be a really bad idea for some NPCs that can have 6 or more appearances. Klunn, for example, I've seen use nearly every single male asura model(except for the male progeny heh), listing every single one on his page would be a nightmare. Plus I think the female NPC actually isn't randomly generated, and is just a copy paste goof, pretty sure she's just this model but has a sword. - Doodleplex 22:01, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Interesting observation regarding Klunn. I agree that the note should remain so that the image isn't replaced, but we currently have no screenshot at all for either Ascended League Vendor. As it is possible that these NPCs will be retired when the new PvP lobby arrives, it would be nice to have some record of at least one of the possible appearances. And more, what remains consistent if anything: what race is the NPC, is the NPC always a fixed gender or wearing the armor set they're selling, etc? Klunn's article benefits from having a screenshot of one of the many Klunns, and I think that his note should specify not that his appearance is randomly generated but that his appearance is randomly selected from a set of asuran models. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 15:48, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
I agree they do need at least one picture heh. As for random appearance note, you're right the note should be clarified, as the race and gender is always the same. Attire is irrelevant since most of the NPCs with randomly generated appearances are wearing clothing unavailable to players. - Doodleplex 18:29, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Superior Shield Generator Siege (Set 243)[edit]

moved from Guild_Wars_2_Wiki:Projects/On_Wiki_of_Gold Set 234

(Greener already created the item version (Decoration: Superior Shield Generator) you receive from a WvW Siege Decoration Case. I can't immediately think of another case where you can get a decoration as a consumable item and where the token and decoration have different names. Fragments of the Solid Ocean can get received as a drop, but have the same names. I suppose it's vaguely parallel to weapons and skins, so we should make the second set for the decorations? Or would adding the a set of redirects be a more elegant solution? Adeira Tasharo (talk) 23:48, 7 June 2017 (UTC))

Mordremoth's Bane Guild Decoration was an item that let you convert to a differently named skin, though it's still in it's own kind of category.--Rain Spell (talk)
We often (and should) do it even when they have the same name. For example, Chandelier (trophy) and Chandelier (and ten other Albert decorations), plus Master Brewer's Keg (token) gives you both Master Brewer's Keg (schematic) (consumable that gives a decoration) and Master Brewer's Keg (the decoration immediately to the decoration UI). For differently named tokens, Fancy Furniture Coin gives only Super Cloud -- Dashface User Dashface.png 05:53, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
Decorations have two parts to them. There is the consumable item that we can craft or purchase and there is the decoration object that we see in the decorations UI. Never before has there been a case where the decoration and it's item counterpart have different names. The Master Bewer's keg shows both parts when it gives you the item counterpart and the decoration object in the UI. If we make the distinction now that the decoration object must have a seperate page to the item counterpart then we will need to split up almost every single decoration page and all we will be doing is moving the gallery image to the new page. Here are some examples to explain this relationship.
Example 1: Chandelier trophy consumable decoration
Example 2: Shield Generator consumable decoration
I'm for adding redirects for these seige decorations instead of a new page and perhapse a new property for decoration id and maybe even decoration name. J.Tesla (talk) 22:29, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
I already made the pages before you wrote this. Sorry. .___. --Idris (talk) 11:24, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Orphan Adventures Suggestion (Set 199 & 238)[edit]

Found quite a few missing objects, npcs, etc. during my adventures down memory lane. If there's room on the list somewhere in the future, I think either of these categories has quite a bit to do.

  • Aetherpath - Missing quite a few foes, especially nightmare court. Elite Torrential Husk and others could use skill data. Most of the holograms needs images. Plenty of Aetherblade are missing as well, which should probably not be classified under their race, but idk? There are a few that have set speaking lines that are always the same race. I also know the spiders that spawn at the beginning are missing.
  • Silverwastes/Vinewrath - Missing ammunition objects and descriptions on all 3 lanes. Ammunition objects spawn on failing to defend the ammunition pile. There's also a standing request for a better Rubble picture. Defeat the Mordrem Vinewrath's champion has a few red links that deal with core mechanics of the fight.--Rain Spell (talk) 06:14, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Aetherpath is tagged for deletion because all details have been re-merged with Twilight Arbor (explorable) (honestly that tag has been there long enough it should be deleted by now...). Twilight Arbor (explorable)#Foes has a complete list of foes (I painstakingly went through all three paths with dozens of screenshots to make sure). Only thing I'm not 100% sure on is the Twisted Nightmare in the "lab" room and the numbers of players to spawn each rank (I recall seeing an elite once when we had 3 folks in, but I'm not 100% sure if I remember correctly, or if it's an elite when 4 are in there). Konig (talk) 17:18, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Fair enough. Then it's just holos missing images.--Rain Spell (talk) 17:45, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Precocious Aurene (Set 265)[edit]

This page, Precocious Aurene, has around 10 red links and is one of the story sections that is more easily replayed, if long. Suggesting it for inclusion. --Rain Spell (talk)

No Mask Left Behind (Set 273)[edit]

As per Talk:Exalted Mask, No Mask Left Behind could use some attention. - Doodleplex 15:38, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Formatting guides links in the intro[edit]

Hey Dash, I've just noticed that you've linked to the formatting guides category in the intro. Might I recommend linking to Guild Wars 2 Wiki:General formatting#General page layouts by content type instead? That link points to an organized table of all the pages within that same category, within an article that itself contains lots of helpful information. :) --Idris (talk) 09:49, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

It took me a year to notice this, but good idea! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 15:25, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

HoT content (Set 276)[edit]

With the new expansion coming out soon, HoT areas are likely to become less active, so perhaps a set for section-stubs and stubs related to HoT content? I'm working on setting up some lists so that these pages are easy to find(not to mention sorting out what's LWS3 and not HoT). Additionally I think all of the strongboxes from HoT are missing contents, so that could be a decent set on it's own. - Doodleplex 16:47, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

New Orders in PoF (Sets 339 & 346)[edit]

Hello all! With the new expansion, we were reintroduced to the Order of the Sunspears and (re)introduced to the Order of Shadows, a remnant of the original Elonian Order of Whispers. These two orders have many NPCs associated with them that are important to collections, achievements, renown hearts, among other things. That is why I am requesting that both of these pages get added to the next set. Thank you, and have a nice day! --Teletric.3821 (talk) 13:26, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Back from vacation![edit]

I'm back from vacation and am ready to start verifying your contributions. Because there's a big backlog that I don't want to burn out on while I enjoy the expansion concurrently, I'll be verifying five (or more) contributions every day until I catch up, with gold distribution at convenient intervals. Thank you to Doodleplex for keeping the project going while I was away, and thank you everyone else for continuing to contribute! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 09:53, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

About low quality contributions[edit]

Hi, i am a contributor to this program and i'd like to highlight a problem about low-effort, low-quality contributions that a certain user (you know who) makes. As soon as a new set is posted, he almost instantly creates the article.. and the problem is that very often this articles are with titles only, with no effort/research spent into making it meaningful (and the perfect example is the Champion Awakened Stray article), just like a bot would do. Now, the point of this comment is to ask the project curator: what constitutes a "meaningful contribution"? Because if "contributions" like the Champion Awakened Stray one are considered "meaningful", more people who just want a quick buck and abuse the system will appear. I'd like to ask to Dashface to clarify what constitutes a "meaningful contribution" and hopefully tighten the rules, so to prevent this kind of behavior (even more so because it's anet money now). ps: this comment is anonymous simply because i wish to avoid any negative repercussions that may happen to me. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.35.192.215 (talk) at 23:35, 3 October 2017 (UTC).

Thank you for talking about me. Yes, some contributions are smaller than the others, the Awakened Stray was part of me adding and creating articles on bounties I encountered - I screenshot everything I do in-game and post it on wiki, this just happened to be in the set. Thanks for mistaking me for bot, though. Please, check my contributions, and tell me I am abusing this project and I am just adding titles with no appropriate info - if you actually looked at something about me, you would also might have noticed I am not a "he". Good night. Sime (talk) 23:40, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
I'm not the person running this project, but I will say I that would not count what Sime does as "low quality" contributions: every page that she has created is more than just "copy-paste-beep-boop-give-me-gold" and usually involve some finer details, with Sime usually going back and adding more things in after the page has been created. If a bot was mass making pages, or at least in terms of my bot J.A.R.V.I.S. as I can't speak for the other two bots, it wouldn't be that nice. If you want "low quality", there's a user who "contributed" to this project once long ago by only adding a word to an event objective, which wasn't actually correct by the way the word wasn't in the objectives at all, and nothing was awarded. So if you're worried about people doing nothing just to get gold, I wouldn't worry about it, Dashface is a pretty good judge of what should and shouldn't count. Also Sime, I wouldn't worry about the gender thing, I still get mistaken as being male, as people seem to rarely check user pages. - Doodleplex 00:31, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
I'll also point out that inexperienced editors who might want to add to the page but feel overwhelmed at the thought of creating one from scratch will often not bother. Templates are available, sure, but article creation can still feel intimidating when you're new and terrified of attracting the ire of experienced editors, so providing a framework for them to add to is a meaningful contrib in my opinion. --Idris (talk) 18:35, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Page Suggestion: Gizmo (Set 358)[edit]

There's tons of Lore Gizmos that have been added with LS3 and PoF. There's not really a page to list them. Also, plenty of Gizmo sub-pages haven't really been updated or organized. Some of them may also be improved beyond being just a list (i.e. acquisition info, gem store price, expansion required, general organization including subcategories and alphabetization). I don't know how we can handle collection gizmos, as they're pretty much one-and-done items and have theirown collection navs, but they could probably be organized under "Legendary collection", "Mawdrey", etc. This isn't a high priority page, but I thought I'd recommend it. --Rain Spell (talk) 19:16, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Lunatic Armor (Sets 353, 354 & 355)[edit]

Through a curious cause of events, there are at this moment two separate groups of pages for the newly introduced Lunatic armor sets.

We have the Lunatic armor page, created October 17. The armor set overview box on the top of the page links to the [[Lunatic armor (light)]], [[Lunatic armor (medium)]], and [[Lunatic armor (heavy)]] pages. The armor nav box on the bottom of the page however links to the Lunatic Acolyte armor, Lunatic Noble armor, and Lunatic Templar armor pages. Lunatic Acolyte armor, Lunatic Noble armor, and Lunatic Templar armor were all created on October 18. [[Lunatic armor (light)]], [[Lunatic armor (medium)]], and [[Lunatic armor (heavy)]] were all created on October 20.

So there are two different naming conventions. It would be best if one of these was removed and replaced by the other. My preference goes out to the Acolyte/Noble/Templar naming convention, as this is how the individual armor pieces are referred to in-game, and this is also the way it is done with the dungeon armor sets.

I realise that this sort of thing is not what the On Wiki of Gold is about but I don't know where else to mention this, and also it might be good to mention on any related sets on the project page.

--Paw (talk) 13:16, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

The Community Portal is the place to put comments like this, for future reference. :) --Idris (talk) 18:42, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
I think I had a hand in making both sides of the problem, but I prefer the Templar/etc. version too, and I fixed the nav template to use those. It'll take some time to move the rest of the stuff over, but it can be done. SarielV 20 x 20px 21:44, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
Using the in game name is the accurate method. So the armor (light/medium/heavy) are wrong. I would make them redirects. Konig (talk) 22:12, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Inscription and Insignia haven't been updated for awhile. (Set 379)[edit]

Inscription doesn't have new HoT or PoF stats. Insignia doesn't have PoF stats. Both could be updated to show the expansion it's from as well. IDK if this is too small to put in and should go to just the community page?--Rain Spell (talk) 02:30, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

Good lead! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 09:54, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

December 12, 2017 Skill balance update - updating skills (Set 381)[edit]

Around 1/2 of the skills and traits changed in the December 12, 2017 Skill balance update haven't been updated on the wiki yet. Sometimes the skill facts and the version history isn't updated, somethimes only the version history is missing. Also some skills from December 15, 2017 and December 13, 2017 aren't updated yet. Would be nice to have all skills/traits updated on the wiki, more than two weeks after the patch, and since there have been sets similar to this one in the past... --Tolkyria (talk) 15:28, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

I second this. I'm too lazy/uninterested in the game to do it myself anymore (though I still fix incorrect coefficient changes if I see them on my watchlist). It'd be great if, after each balance patch, updating the skill pages was added as a task on this project. Mention using the API to snag the correct coefficients, and changing any outdated skills that still use "damage|XXX|coefficient=x.xx" to "weapon=weapon_type|coefficient=x.xx". -Towelcat (talk) 22:09, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

Duplicate set numbers (Set 389, 389, 396 & 396)[edit]

I just noticed that 389 and 396 are used twice. I'd like to also say that I've been on the sidelines watching as this project developed and I am quite impressed by the amount of content contributors have produced and by the amount of work it takes to maintain this project. Well done! --Cali (talk) 21:56, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Oops! Looks like we got to 400 rather suddenly. Congrats, everybody! -- Dashface User Dashface.png 13:38, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Heart percentage tracking (Set 400)[edit]

Hey Dash, just a heads up that I've added a line to Renown Heart#Completing renown hearts explaining how to view heart percentages -- you might find this simpler to link to in future over copy-pasting an old comment from a long-archived set. :) --Idris (talk) 08:16, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Fix permalinks to old forum?[edit]

This may not be good for a contribution set, but I suspect it may be a bit of a project. For example, all three of the links to the forum at the bottom Super Adventure Box can't be found. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 19:53, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Because it spans so many pages, I'm wondering how this would work. Would a bot be better? -- ??
The links in your example were fixed by Alex. Was this fix wiki-wide, I wonder? -- Dashface User Dashface.png 15:25, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Set 509 and Set 510 statement[edit]

For Sets 509 and 510, I selected the Jessica Price and Peter Fries articles for focus. A contributor approached me with concerns about this, so I thought I'd respond here in case anyone else felt similarly.

The concerns raised were:

  • Putting a spotlight on these articles at the height of the controversy was potentially opening it up to vandalism. Particularly the Price article, which did not exist previously.
  • If the recent incident should be documented, it could be done better with hindsight.
  • ArenaNet would probably like this to drop out of public attention as soon as possible.

My thoughts here:

  • Due to recent events, people were and are going to continue to look for answers as to who these people are and what they did for the game. This gives context to the news. A lot of our staff articles are very lacking compared to how much we know about them. (e.g. Joshua Foreman).
  • When a staff member exits, this is the last great chance to memorialise what they've done for the game. For example, Roy Cronacher was the focus of Set 472, which was right after the announcement that he was leaving.
  • Although ArenaNet now provides the gold and gems that fund this project, it's still completely a player-run endeavour. In fact, the only notable change they asked for is that users have to logged in to participate, which means no IP-only contributions. There is no guideline on what should and shouldn't be in focus, so we're free to include whatever is appropriate to add the wiki.
  • If you're interested in my personal opinion, I think the whole situation is lamentable. I wrote a brief comment under the name "Delsea" here.

I will archive this section when Sets 509 and 510 are archived. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 17:21, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Suggestion: Boss Blitz bosses (Set 544)[edit]

It might be nice to have (short) strategies/walkthroughs for all of the Boss Blitz bosses. And descriptions of the skills they share upon defeat. E.g. Bombs Away does not actually describe what this skill does, and neither Defeat Sparcus Firesplash or Sparcus Firesplash mention his teleporting around the platforms. Would a strategy be better on Defeat Sparcus Firesplash or Sparcus Firesplash? --Paw (talk) 11:02, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

It would be better to have that stuff as a walkthrough on the various event pages. - Doodleplex 15:28, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
