Reality Rift

Reality Rifts are tears in reality that appeared after the battle against Kralkatorrik. Players with the Rift Repair mastery can start a minigame by approaching them while on a skyscale.

Activating a rift applies a number of stacks of  Rift Resonance indicating how many motes are along the path. Flying into each mote will restore endurance and flight energy, and also grant a reward depending on where you are:

• Living World Season 4, Path of Fire, and Core Tyria maps spawn Orbs of Volatile Magic as motes.
  • Reaching the end of the path will reward a Mistborn Mote and 8-10 Volatile Magic.
  • These motes count towards the daily limit of 250 Orbs of Volatile Magic after which they stop granting volatile magic and experience, but the rift can still be repaired.
• The Icebrood Saga maps spawn a trail of karma orbs instead of Volatile Magic, and reward 5 Eternal Ice Shards upon completion of the path.

Bugs:

• Sometimes players will not get Rift Resonance when the rift gets activated. To remedy this, step away from the rift and wait until all of the Volatile Magic has spawned before approaching it again.
• Sometimes players will not receive a Mistborn Mote for completing a rift, due to the second last (yellow) mote spawning behind the final (black) mote, notably with: the rift under the broken bridge east of Temple of Kormir Waypoint, and near Irwin Isle Waypoint.
• Ends of these Reality Rifs can be seen on the minimap while having Treasure Hunter Service Chip equiped in your Jade Bot.

Anomaly:

With the release of Whisper in the Dark, sometimes reality rift activations create a purple karmic trail, even if they award volatile magic.
