Siege Golems are large asuran golems that act as mobile siege weapons in WvW. Siege golems move slowly and can be used as a battering ram, allowing the pilot to knock down doors and gates in addition to attacking enemies. The golem is the only siege weapon that is mobile. Their AoE target limit is 10. Unlike with other siege weapons, you cannot kick someone out of the golem you built.

Siege Golems glow in different colors when active depending on the type. All of them glow white when they are inactive.

Usage[edit]

A golem is controlled like a normal player character. When the golem's driver dodges it runs a bit more quickly for a short time. When a golem is destroyed, the driver is ejected and downed.

A golem takes massive falling damage because falling damage is calculated with percentages, the golem will lose a lot of health. If a golem takes enough falling damage that it is destroyed, the driver will be kicked out of the golem, and is defeated.

Golems can use Mesmer Portals. This allows them to move across short distances much faster.

Golems are also affected by Swiftness and Superspeed applied by allies.

Building a siege golem requires a Siege Golem Blueprint or an Infinite Siege Golem Blueprint and consumes 125 Supply to complete.

Trivia[edit]

  • Siege golems were first mentioned in a Guild Wars Insider post as a teaser to an interview that was released a week later.[1] Their name was believed to be "siege suits" until more information was released in an ArenaNet blog post on 16 February 2012.
  • In the first Beta Weekend Event golems could be healed, which is no longer the case.
  • The siege golem shares his model with Mr. Sparkles.
  • Siege Golem Mastery abilities do not affect asura racial skills such as Summon 7-Series Golem, Summon D-Series Golem and Summon Power Suit.
  • Historical information up to the November 19, 2024 update:
    • Alpha Siege Golem Blueprints.png Alpha Siege Golems were the most common type of Siege Golems and were for use in melee against gates. They glowed in the team color when active. Once the blueprints were deployed, a build site appeared, which required 100 Supply before the golem was built.
    • Omega Siege Golem Blueprints.png Omega Siege Golems were the upgraded form of an Alpha Siege Golem and were for use in range against walls or gates. They were bigger and moved faster than Alpha Siege Golems and always glowed blue when active. Once deployed, the build site required 150 Supply.
    • Siege Golem Blueprint.png Guild Siege Golems were the guild variant, for use in melee against gates, and therefore closer in functionality to Alpha Golems than Omega. They glowed in the team color when active. Once deployed, the build site required only 75 Supply.
