Ambient dialogue[edit]
- Villager (1): I ran into Zaina earlier. She seemed even more depressed than usual.
- Villager (2): It's as if she blames herself for finding any problem at the Water Authority plant.
- Villager (1): Since that's literally her job description, it's no wonder she's always miserable.
- Veteran Confessor Opeyemi: Come, outlander. Learn of King Joko, bringer of peace.
- Disillusioned Refugee (1): Forgive us, King Joko! We want to come home.
- Disillusioned Refugee (2): Take us back into your kingdom, Your Majesty!
- Disillusioned Refugee (3): We'll do anything to return to your good graces!
- Disillusioned Refugee (4): We were wrong to ever leave Elona!
- Veteran Confessor Opeyemi: King Joko grants no second chances.
- At the Amnoon Water Authority
- Worker: That's definitely cavitation I hear upstream, probably from one of the offshore valves.
- Worker: Could be looking at a catastrophic system failure, unless we can reduce pressure and slow erosion.
- Worker: (groan) No, no, no. All this is going to have to be replaced.
- Worker (1): Think it's true what the chief said, that the Hamaseen are the ones sabotaging our system?
- Worker (2): Look, I didn't tell you this, but they've been shaking Hazim down for protection money.
- Worker (1): He's refusing to pay? Is he crazy? Wait, the old chief just disappeared—(gasp)
- Worker (2): Now you're getting it. I recommend staying clear of Chief Hazim, unless he decides to pay up.
- Worker (1): How will we know when that happens?
- Worker (2): If the sabotage suddenly stops, you'll know.
- Worker (1): An ooze brushed up against me while I was under a pipe, patching a leak.
- Worker (2): (shudder) What a nightmare. What did you do?
- Worker (1): For starters, I bashed my head on the pipe and cursed from the pain.
- Worker (2): Ow. You're lucky you didn't knock yourself out.
- Worker (1): Sure didn't feel lucky at the time. (groan) Head still hurts...
- Worker (1): I can’t believe anyone would be crazy enough to sabotage this facility.
- Worker (2): I know! Where else are they going to get fresh drinking water from?
- Worker (1): Don’t they realize what an engineering marvel this place is?
- Worker (2): If it didn’t affect so many innocent people, I’d walk away and let the vandals choke on salt water.
- Worker (2): It’s not just tools and raw materials–there’s a shortage of healers around here.
- Worker (1): Because of all the refugees?
- Worker (2): That, and the Forged attacks. Everything’s being triaged to help the most in need.
- Worker (1): So that leaves us with nothing on hand for emergencies.
- Worker (2): Exactly. When that pipe exploded, we had to carry Navid back into the city for treatment.
- Worker (1): Is he going to be all right?
- Worker (2): Kormir only knows. They were able to save his arm, at least.
- Worker (1): It wasn’t your fault. None of this is our fault.
- Worker (1): Did you see that viper I tossed in the assistant chief's toolbox?
- Worker (2): (gasp) What if it bites her?
- Worker (1): I made sure it was dead first. I want to scare her, not kill her.
- Assistant Chief Adila: Get out there and find a pipe to bang on.
- Assistant Chief Adila: That's right, get moving. Otherwise, I'm going to report this!
- Assistant Chief Adila: You there, get up! You think you’re paid to nap?
- Worker: Uhhh– of course not!
- Assistant Chief Adila: Get out there and find a pipe to bang on.
- Assistant Chief Adila: That’s right, get moving. Otherwise, I’m going to report this!
