“Did you think death would end my research? It only revealed magical secrets most could only dream of...and all would try to steal.
Councillor Oola was a brilliant asura who specialised in creating constructs—humanoid magical creations, of which golems are but one.
Biography[edit]
Oola was aware of her own abilities and, like many asura, got frustrated when others disturbed her research. To that end she squirrelled herself away where she could work in peace. She had few assistants and welcomed no visitors, treating them all as inferiors and interlopers. Her security measures were said to be among the finest, and her fierce ability to keep her haven safe gained the respect of many of her peers (and more than a few attempted infiltrations—all of which ended poorly). She had a bitter relationship with Zinn, her former apprentice, who became soul researcher and rival golemancer. This rivalry led to Zinn burning Oola's books in public and caused Oola to plot revenge in response.[1]
By 1078 AE, Oola had found the ruins of the Iron Forgeman in Sorrow's Furnace and was attempting to replicate it. When the Destroyers spilled up from the bowels of the earth, she was persuaded to build a mobile spellworking platform in the battle against the Great Destroyer. A year later, she bribed the rest of the Arcane Council to exile her former apprentice, the soul researcher and rival golemancer Zinn, for a decade.[1] Another former apprentice of hers, Blimm, joined Zinn in exile.
Before her death, it seems that Oola was able to finally combine the secrets of golemancy and necromancy, creating a line of golems that could tap into the power of life and death. In a bid to increase her power and control, she tied her very essence to the core of her golem, the OOL-99L. With her death, her ghost continues her work, in the Old Oola Lab.

- The answer "Only you can prevent golem fires" to the second question of the test is a reference to Smokey Bear's slogan "Remember... Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires".
- The ego and the id are two of the constructs of Sigmund Freud's model of the psyche. The id contains the psyche's desires and instinctual drives or urges, while the ego mediates between the desires of the id and what is actually capable of being achieved in the real world.
