Many of their functions are only available in Cantha maps, with the main exceptions being the attribute bonus and modules.

Mechanics[edit]

Equipment[edit]
“Equip and manage your jade bot, customizing your bot's power core, frame, and modules.
— Hero panel
The jade bot can be customized at any Jade Bot Workbench in Cantha with a multitude of modules. Some can be purchased from Xunlai Jade Sales Associates and others can be crafted by jewelers. Any character where the player wishes to use all jade bot functions has to have equipped a Power Core, with tier 6 being required for Module: Service Chips to work. A jade bot has three Slots in its hero panel section:
Power Core[edit]
- One Power Core has to be equipped in order to access the jade bot's functionality on each character.
- Does not require a Jade Bot Workbench to equip.
- 10 tiers exist, the Jade Bot Core: Tier 6 and above allows using the Service Chip Module.
- Power Cores are equipable by all 80 level characters, even on accounts without End of Dragons.[1]
- One Jade Bot Core: Tier 1 per character is provided as a story reward for completing The Scenic Route.
- Additional Power Cores can be acquired through:
- Purchase in the trading post.
- Crafting with a level 400 jeweler after unlocking the Gliding Booster mastery and purchasing the corresponding recipes.
- Additional Power Cores can be acquired through:
- Doesn't provide the attribute boost in PvP and WvW.
Module: Sensory Array[edit]
- Different types exist, only one can be equipped at a time.
- They require at least tier 1 Power Core to be used.
- Scavenger Protocol: Scans corpses for materials or trophies.
- Recycler: Turns junk items into karma, ascended materials or Jade Slivers.
- Enhancer/Booster: Increases the damage of your Siege Turtle, or enhances mount's energy recovery.
- Works in the open world, instanced content (raids/fractals/strike missions) and some in WvW too; see the main page for detailed overview.
- Not equipable on accounts without End of Dragons, as players cannot use the Jade Bot Workbench without the Jade Bots mastery track.
Module: Service Chip[edit]
- They require at least tier 6 Power Core to be used, though they can be equipped with a lower tier power core (but do not work).
- Enhances the jade bot's abilities:
- Skiff supercharger: increases Skiff speed.
- Jade Assistant: Gliding Booster improves Jade Bot Glide Booster height.
- Rescue Protocol Recharge: shortens Rescue Protocol cooldown.
- Treasure Hunter Protocol: displays chests on minimap with an icon .
- Works on every chest in most zones of the open world, even outside of Cantha.
- Not equipable on accounts without End of Dragons, as players cannot use the Jade Bot Workbench without the Jade Bots mastery track.
Lore[edit]
Jade bots are small jade mechs created from dragonjade by Xunlai Jade. They provide day-to-day aid for Canthans who can afford them, as the dragonjade technology is very expensive. They are also used as help with transportation through Cantha via Zip Lines and can be deployed for security purposes or scanning mined jade.
Jade Bot skins[edit]
Jade Bot skins can be unlocked account-wide by purchasing them in the Gem Store or through Black Lion Chests. The skins have only cosmetic effects; there are no gameplay advantages associated with them.
The skins are visible while performing various tasks around the world, including:
- Interacting with Jade Tech Defensive / Offensive protocols, using a Jade Battery, zip-line, opening a Jade Tech chest, using gliding boost, using Rescue Protocol, setting up Jade Tech Waypoint, using Skiff Supercharger, and remotely controlling the Bot.[2]

Notes[edit]
- You cannot turn off visibility of other player's jade bots, but the bots are not visible at all times, only spawning when deployed for specific actions.[1]
- Many of the animations are implemented via skill effects, as the devs were concerned about server performance of having another entity spawn for each player.[1]
- Cannot be named in-game.[1]
- Jade Bots can be flown underwater.
Trivia[edit]
- During remote control while on the ground as well as in the jade bot panel, the bot has idle animations, one of them being a dancing animation.
- Movement speed during remote control is 600 units/sec for backward and forward movement, and 300 units/sec for ascend, descend, and sideways movements.
- The controls during remote control are similar to underwater mode movement.
- For a short time immediately after the launch of End of Dragons, jade bot remote control was unavailable due to technical issues. In its place, the Jade Bot Terminals for Help Xunlai Jade test and promote jade tech (80) provided a "Jade Tech Rifle" that could be used to light the Jade Tech Lanterns[3][verification requested].
