Always watching

I get the feeling you're closely monitoring everything I do. >_o --Rashid (talk) 13:34, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Hah, nah, was just browsing through recent changes while waiting for fractals. But I am always watching... --Ventriloquist (talk) 13:37, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad you're watching because those ugly missing images were driving me nuts. Where did you grab those skill icons from? ninestories (talk) 18:58, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
I know right!? Well, I (and all the others, I think) grab the pics from gw2db.com, just enter the skill's name (or anything else in-game) and you'll get a list of everything related to it. Sadly, couldn't find some pictures. --Ventriloquist (talk) 18:59, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Brilliant, thank you for the information! Keep up the great work! ninestories (talk) 19:03, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Check my userpage for full-size versions. :P Filenames should match to gw2db. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:10, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Well, it's not that I mind or anything. At lease there's someone to double check for me. ;o But since you haven't edited anything (else) recently, I assume I haven't made many "mistakes." --Rashid (talk) 02:38, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Nah, don't worry about that, you're doing a great job! --Ventriloquist (talk) 07:30, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Don't you think Cynog should be classified as a Vigil member? Yes, he's in the Order of Whispers, but he's also in the Vigil... or if you're gonna keep OoW in the NPC infobox, you could add category for the Vigil. Just my personal opinion. --Rashid (talk) 17:15, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Is he working undercover for OoW? If so, that's his actual organization, but adding the Vigil line somewhere wouldn't hurt. --Ventriloquist (talk) 20:23, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
I'm basing it on Lionguard Irisa's infobox... but I added a Vigil category to Cynog's page anyway. --Rashid (talk) 20:32, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Sounds good! --Ventriloquist (talk) 20:57, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Dammit, did you have to add -that- quote to Tibs' page? T_T (Yeah, I know, priorities...)--Rashid (talk) 01:31, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
I know it hurts. D: I thought that more important characters could have quotes on their pages, such as Scarlet. It makes them seem less like some random NPC that dies after 3 missions and gives them more depth. --Ventriloquist (talk) 10:04, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

categorization of categories

Don't categorize a category within itself. That's just training the category to be vain: "I'm so important the only category that can hold me is... ME!" —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:31, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the clarification. I was being skeptical as well when I saw a whole bunch of those non-existent categories, I made them 'cause I saw a few of them that also had only one skill inside. Poor skills, all alone... --Ventriloquist (talk) 12:42, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

icons

Please grab the zip files off my userpage and use those for uploading any future icons to the wiki. GW2DB resizes theirs to 56x56, I don't know why, but that is inconsistent with what we have on the wiki. Item icons should be 64x64, and skill icons should be 128x128. (There are some exceptions, but that's the standard.) —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:10, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Ah, thank you and sorry for making you re-upload all of those! Quick question - Since the icons aren't named do I first look up the name on GW2DB ( for the icon) and then search through the folder? Or is there an easy way? —Ventriloquist (talk) 19:48, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
Since you're familiar with using GW2DB for this, yeah, that would be easiest for you. (And it's the only way for skill icons at the moment.) For myself, I have an Excel workbook with all of the item/recipe API data, and that includes the icon file ID for each item. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:58, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

When will they learn

Technically speaking, the current discussion leads to least white space, which is what you're removing. I've seen this a bit but hadn't bothered to bring it up but it's tedious to see the edits solely being reversing current agreement (even if few folks are agreeing with it). I'd request for you to follow one of the two current styles, rather than going with the original layout which has since been deemed "too much space-taking" (more or less). Thanks! Konig 22:32, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Hm, I was expecting this to pop up on my page instead, since I've been making lots of new pages lately.. guess I'll edit them all when I get back. --Rashid (talk) 06:16, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
Well now I feel bad, I wasn't even aware that the "dialogue meta" had been changed. Thanks for giving me a heads up, I shall start using this then! --Ventriloquist (talk) 08:44, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
Just a thought, but this should be somewhere in the header of the wiki (like the current "announcements"). It sure would be easier than just tracking people down, and it would help new users with the format instead of asking every single time. --Rashid (talk) 19:50, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
I agree, makes it much easier to "get with the times", rather than having to rework all of the pages. Hopefully this is the final alteration to the dialogue. --Ventriloquist (talk) 20:04, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
In theory that kind of discussion is supposed to be noted on the Community portal, but in practice people tend to forget and it ends up quite neglected. Felix Omni Signature.png 20:06, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
Discussion is technically ongoing, the only consensus there really seems be to be is "least white space within reason." Oh, and don't feel bad - easily overlooked. Konig 21:17, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
Hard not to feel bad when you name the section something like that. --Rashid (talk) 23:28, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Bloody Prince

I'm not a fan of how you have been changing the Bloody Prince Thorn page lately. First you changed the quote to a mile long one that nobody is going to read, and now you changed the picture from a perfectly good one to a one that is from an awkward angle and doesn't even show the whole character. Do you have something to say to defend those changes? Rakuin (talk) 10:33, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Well, I felt the previous quote was missing...context. He remembers doing...what? Who is he talking to? Things like that; but I agree, for a quote the current one is a bit lengthy, just not sure where to cut it. As for the picture, I wanted one with less effects and a bit closer to his face, but I don't see his legs being cut off as a big deal. --Ventriloquist (talk) 10:43, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Showing the whole character is preferable but I'm more bothered by the angle, it's terrible. I had a few suggestions for better quote in Talk:Bloody Prince Thorn. If the current one is to be cut... How about "Surrender your reign and I'll go drive them off, or I'll kill you where you stand and make them think I put an end to their Mad King." Hmm. Meh. It doesn't work. But please, take a look at my suggestions and give your opinion. Rakuin (talk) 11:52, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Will do! If you're able to take a better picture of Edrick, feel free to upload it! (or anyone else, really) --Ventriloquist (talk) 11:54, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
I went to take some screens and got some decent ones too.. I'm just reluctant to upload them because I still think the original by Somo was great. The effects aren't obstructing, the pose is fluid, and it's even nicely framed. I don't see what you have against it... And I think the pic in the infobox should show the whole character, maybe we could put the close-up somewhere else on the page? More the merrier right? Rakuin (talk) 13:04, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
It felt a bit too distanced to be seen without having to click on the picture itself; I guess I wanted it to look more like Braham or Magnus. I know that's hard to do with enemies. --Ventriloquist (talk) 14:12, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
I uploaded a new pic, it should meet your requirements. Thoughts? Rakuin (talk) 15:43, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Hah, you don't have to do that just for me, but for what it's worth - I love it! --Ventriloquist (talk) 19:21, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
My own input on File talk:Bloody Prince Thorn.jpg. It's the lighting or aura that makes the red stand out, could be fixed I think.--Relyk ~ talk < 19:29, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

technically

that sentence is referring to the caravan owned by Patja and not Patja herself, so its is preferable to hers (as the caravan is genderless). -Auron 09:56, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Oh my, you're right. I completely missed the caravan part. Thanks! --Ventriloquist (talk) 09:58, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm sorry, this is stupid. But there really is NPC named Patja? I find that hilarious. Patja = mattress in finnish. Rakuin (talk) 10:04, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Patja the Painter - painter by day, mattress by night.--Ventriloquist (talk) 10:44, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
I suppose that was not intentional, unlike Olut. Rakuin (talk) 10:53, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

karma armor

I saw you muscling in on my turf motherfucker and I just wanna ask you, WHERE DO YOU GET THE BALLS and also do you know how my copypasta templates work for quickly producing pages for pieces of karma armor? Because I always use them, I have no idea if you're using them too, or if you're copying from other articles, which is the chump way of doing it. Psycho Robot (talk) 00:01, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Somebody had to do it, and you were too LAZY to do what I did with such ease. But yeah, I just copied your stuff and edited it out. Tell me your secrets. --Ventriloquist (talk) 00:33, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
Start with a page with everything gone except the inter language links. Make a note of the current IDs or blank them and save the page to clear the ID out of the system, such that searching via chat links will give you the id instead of a link. For some reason, most of the twins only have an ID added to the masterwork infobox, but its the fine item's id. Someone screwed up. Paste this copypasta:
{{subst:User:Psycho Robot/ka
|set=
|name=
|plural=
|weight=
|slot=
|level=
|prefix=
|uslot=
|cost=
|mcost=
|desc=
|vendor=
|gender=
|heart=
|zone=
|area=
|id=
|mid=
|other=
}}
Which is herein explained:
{{subst:User:Psycho Robot/ka (see below)
|set=see below
|name=item name if it is different than pagename
|plural=y/n (to produce either "leggings are" or "helm is")
|weight=l/m/h
|slot=h/s/c/g/l/f (h is head, g is hands/gloves)
|level=
|prefix=
|uslot=
|cost=just the number, will automatically be stuck in {{karma|}}
|mcost=
|desc={{subst:ft|quote|person}} if it follows the standard "blahblah" -person format, otherwise type it manually
|vendor=
|gender=m/f
|heart=
|zone=
|area=
|id=
|mid=
|other=the other version of this item if its not a combined page
}}
The subpage is ka if its a fine piece of armor on its own page, kau (for upgrade!) if its a masterwork piece on its own page, and kam (for multi!) if its a fine/masterwork twin sharing the same name on a single page. Set name is a shortcut
  |devout=Devout
  |bones=Dry Bones
  |country=Country
  |magician=Magician
  |stately=Stately
  |tactical=Tactical
  |rogue=Rogue
  |duelist=Duelist's
  |swindler=Swindler
  |studded=Superior Studded
  |warden=Warden's
  |conquest=Conquest
  |sduelist=Superior Duelist's
  |battler=Battler
  |chain=Worn Chain
  |scale=Worn Scale
  |plated=Plated
  |dark=Dark
And that's my copypasta template to make this fast and easy for me. Oh, also, I wouldn't bother adding "pagename is a trinket sold by x after completying his renown heart". Its a lot of extra work. The only reason I have my little paragraph for the armor is because people might overlook that its part of a set if I didn't add that in. Psycho Robot (talk) 01:07, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, if I have any questions I'll be sure to drop mysterious messages on your talk page. --Ventriloquist (talk) 19:37, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Fyr Raggedfur

I noticed you saying you should follow Fyr Raggedfur to see if he says something. He doesn't. I followed him from start to finish and he only said something at the final destination, which I have screenshots for. Therefore, you don't need to follow him around. Similarly, if you see a group of revelers walking around, you don't need to follow them either, I have already captured their cycle from start to finish. Psycho Robot (talk) 22:48, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Oh, thanks. You just saved me like half an hour and a lot of frustration. --Ventriloquist (talk) 22:53, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Giita

Hey, you uploaded a new version for Giita, but now she looks completely different than before. In the german wiki she still looks like on the old picture (and this screenshot is from today) Why does your character look different? --Cloned (talk) 10:30, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Checked today, she looks exactly like my screenshot. Perhaps that person uploaded a screenshot that was from an older version, an outdated screenshot? --Ventriloquist (talk) 13:04, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
That's strange, isi (who uploaded the pic to the german wiki) said that her screenshot is also from today. But she also said that sometimes NPCs looked different for her when she was in an overflow and when she got back to her home-server the NPC changed back to the original look. I don't know how much german you understand, but I'm linking the short german-discussion just in case (all the way down under "Giita"). Maybe a third person can verify which look is "correct" (I don't know if I'll get online today or tomorrow). Thanks for you answer! --Cloned (talk) 14:53, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Template?

Now those huntsmen could have done with a template.  :) --Claret (talk) 22:56, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

To make things worse, I still have to edit all of the other 7 professions now that we have their full dialogue. --Ventriloquist (talk) 22:59, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks; I'll share my throne with Scarlet. Also, self-reminder to upload a different picture for that NPC, since the spiders look like babies and not those full-grown-scary ones. --Ventriloquist (talk) 23:25, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Escape from Lion's Arch dialogues

Hello, there. I see you've started updating dialogues for the LA NPCs that have moved in this update, which is wonderful; anyway, I'm not sure if you know about that, but a lot of them have been collected on Escape from Lion's Arch (living world) and Lion's Arch (Under Attack!), so if you'd like to make things a bit easier, you can just copy them from there. Cheers. User Noxx Sig.png 15:00, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I've actually seen it! I'll hop on that later, since I'm heading out now; do you want me to link them to that page somehow? --Ventriloquist (talk) 15:01, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Actually, I'm still not quite sure on how to do this. I think it would be useful to have the dialogues on both pages, one to follow the history of the NPCs and one to follow the context of the story better, and considering the dialogues very likely aren't ever going to change once they're complete, we might as well copy-paste them, although it would be possible to just link from one to the other, like it is currently at Sheriff Siriam. Last release I linked to the story page in Living World involvement (such as with Siriam or Taimi) but perhaps there is a better way to approach this... User Noxx Sig.png 16:01, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
For now, I'll upload the new dialogues and move the old ones, then after that's all done we can decide what the next step should be. --Ventriloquist (talk) 19:59, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

FYI

If you want to find your own icons in the future:

  1. Use the item ID to find the item's API entry:
  2. Use the <icon_file_id> and <icon_file_signature> from the API result to build the render service URL:

TTFN! —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:38, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Oh my god, that is so handy. Thanks for the notice! --Ventriloquist (talk) 15:50, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
and if it has a spidy or TP link (rarer case admittedly), then you can click on that, and then right click on the icon to follow it to the source. (e.g. Legionnaire Symbol -> http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/31311 -> https://render.guildwars2.com/file/BA9926A5D212A3062441612910F99DBF7832B771/67669.png ) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:15, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I used to do that on the GW2DB but it ended up being wrong, since their icons are inconsistent with the wiki ones. I feel like a sponge, absorbing new stuff, thanks. --Ventriloquist (talk) 16:17, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Hey dingus

You're a priory guy aren't you? Rhetorical question, I know you are. Can you do some investigating for me? When you interact with Shipping Log you get extra dialogue with one of the recipients, Researcher Suki. The other recipient is Ogden Stonehealer. Under what circumstances are you able to chat with him? If you interact with the log then talk to him, do you get extra dialogue? It may contain details about the mysterious Stumm. Psycho Robot (talk) 02:38, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Alrighty, so I just spent a good half an hour roaming the area around the logs and talking to the NPCs, looking for clues. First, I read both the logs and then went to the Durmand Priory. I spent around ten minutes just roaming around, looking for that stupid dwarf only to find out that my location glitched and the office door did not appear as interactive nor could be opened. I went out again, back to the logs and back to the dwarf. No extra dialogue, just the dragons one. THEN I went to the logs AGAIN, then to Suki and then to the dwarf. Same old. Not the news you wanted to hear, I bet. Also, I hate you for telling me this mystery because now I AM INTRIGUED. ARE YOU HAPPY. We have to uncover Stumm's secrets. --Ventriloquist (talk) 10:37, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Oh hey, thanks. I'm also already cuddly & adorable. --Ventriloquist (talk) 21:57, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
When you color in fields to indicate areas where things can be found/done, as I see you doing lately, instead of setting the brush opacity to 50% or whatever you've got it at, you should set the brush opacity to 100%, create a new layer, and set the layer opacity to 50%. That way, you don't get the double layering effect that you get when you brush over something then back over it. See, I said screenshot TIP but I gave you two tips. That's a bonus. Psycho Robot (talk) 21:30, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks...again. I'm gonna have to start paying you in copper for these! --Ventriloquist (talk) 21:39, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Uzolan

I don't think I quite understood the edit summary? When I tried to move the page, it wouldn't let me move it over the redirect. There is no NPC called "Uzolan the Artist", just Uzolan in CM. Serra Birdsong calls him Uzolan the Artist, just as in The Artist's Workshop Uzolan calls himself "Uzolan the Toymaker" and "Uzolan the Inventor". Basically, "the Artist" is a honourific and doesn't actually form part of the character's name. We can include it in the opening section (although I don't think we should, since it seems to be self-given), but not the page title. --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:24, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Ah, seems I was going off by my bad memory of doing CM story like a year ago. I thought the move request was an old one, seeing how Uzolan was already set as a redirect page to the Artist one. I can confirm now that his real name IS Uzolan so you may feel free to move The Artist to Uzolan and create a redirect. Just clear Uzolan's redirect first, move the existing page to that one and we'll have ourselves a page about a bald inventor! --Ventriloquist (talk) 17:30, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Blanked Uzolan and attempted to move it, but the wiki didn't like it. Any ideas? --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:39, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
*streaks through the conversation* —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:43, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Ranch Hand Sprint

Have you checked the skill IDs/chat links? They could be the same skill, since they have the same icon, recharge, description, and effect. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:44, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Just checked, they indeed are the same thing. Now, since I've seen a couple of cases like these, what about the env. weapons? Both skills come from different "weapons", does it require another infobox on the same page or? --Ventriloquist (talk) 20:48, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
You mean in terms of how do we list both weapons in the skill infobox? *sigh* Redesigning that infobox was one of my first goals when I started working on this wiki almost 2 years ago, and I still haven't done anything about it. Right now, I don't know what to do. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:02, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

No I don't, that rule's been around much longer than me. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:09, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I am confident that there is currently no NPC called Girl in-game, which the wiki search feature confirms, although it, of course, may not be documented. Like Ish above said, any juvenile race has a "global" name, I've never seen them separated, besides the obvious ones, such as Billy or "Jora". If a new NPC called Girl is introduced in-game, then we can freely split the current Girl to a dolyak one, but right now, from where the game currently stands, there is no need for such separation. --Ventriloquist (talk) 21:10, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Seroquel

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Valiant_Saeraquel&diff=827854&oldid=827836 If you check the discussion subpage of this article, you will see why it was put to the Trivia section. I agree though, it's a weird trivia. Howellq (talk) 14:27, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Hm, interesting. It's silly to put in trivia just because the name is similar; half the pages on the wiki could be trivialized in a similar manner, just because his name is identical to something that exists in the world doesn't qualify it for trivia, at least in my opinion. --Ventriloquist (talk) 14:46, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Nochtli dialogue

What is/isn't bolded or italicised is a matter of personal preference I guess (although we really should have an agreed format; I was going with the one on GW2W:NPC), but the extra indentation on each stage makes it look reeeeally ugly imo. Also, shouldn't event-specific dialogue go on the event page? Santax (talk · contribs) 13:06, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

I usually put the event quotes (what is said during the event without player interactions) on the event page, and the event specific dialogue (which can be initiation or just random text during the event) on the NPC page. I don't think there's a specific rule on where to put the dialogue, but I'm fine with putting it in the event. As for the dialogue, yes I agree, we reaaaaally need to agree on a certain type and make it an official format for the end of times. I always hated bolding anything in the dialogue because it makes it harder to read and it outlines certain parts of dialogue that don't necessarily have to matter. I went with #1 on the Quotes&Dialogues project page, with a minor change, because I think it's the one that resembles the dialogue in-game the most, but that's debatable, of course. I'm sure we can find something that works for both of us that will make creating NPC pages easier, both to read and to write. --Ventriloquist (talk) 13:15, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

My suggestion would be

[[User talk:Ventriloquist|<span style="font-family:Geneva; color:black;">'''V'''entriloquist</span>]]Ventriloquist (this will look odd here because when its on your talk page, it self-bolds + is black already, but you'd need the color:black bit for anywhere else.)

Thanks. (you could be clever and use subst:#if: to remove the unnecessary code on places that aren't your talk page, but I won't elaborate unless you ask). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:10, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Dry Top NPC's

I've seen you working on documenting most of the content released in the last LS update. I've added some dialogue to some npc's and was wondering if I could document some other stuff. Just some minutes ago I ran into an npc with the name Serene, but there is also another npc with that name. Simple question: how do we deal with this? I didn't contribute for ages here so all my wiki knowledge has faded away, but I like to give a hand. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 13:11, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

When creating a page that has a name identical to an already existing name on the wiki, use brackets that describe and separate that page from the existing one. In this case you'd have to create a new page called Serene (Dry Top), in which the text inside the brackets describes the location of the NPC and separates it from the other version. Normally, you'd create Seline (NPC), but the other version is also an NPC. An example of that can be seen on the Dusk and the Dusk (NPC) pages.
Then add the otheruses template to guide any readers to an alternate page. And finally, redirect any pages that are linked to the old version of the NPC (I can see a link on Serene that should link to the Dry Top one) and you're done! If you have any more questions or misunderstandings, feel free to ask. --Ventriloquist 13:19, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Category:Talisman icons

I think that's a bit too specific, and "talisman" isn't actually an item type. I'd suggest making Category:Upgrade components to hold all the universal upgrades (talismans, marks, crests, doubloons, etc.), and then moving the Runes/Sigils categories into there. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:52, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Actually, it is an accessory icon for Trebuchet Arming Crank and Smashed Centaur Catapult Gear. I'm hoping Alex will see this and propose a solution. :) —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:17, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

That's what I'm thinking, but the template doesn't support it currently. I don't know whether it's worthwhile to make the template support multi-cats, though, or just add the second one manually. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:34, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I have this scary ability of writing things down either without typos or with me fixing them immediately as I type (without really having to think about it), while keeping the typing speed pretty high. It’s a bit weird, but rather useful… ^^ I’m actually faster just writing down lines again than reading through them and comparing them with the in-game dialogue. The thing that slows me down is actually the copy/pasting and the time it takes to understand the dialogue hierarchy ^^" poke | talk 01:07, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
Curse you! I usually type it down then correct a bunch of typos and proofread before submitting and still some errors slip through the cracks. But yeah, the dialogue can be a bit rough, especially when dealing with loads of text and several NPC interactions within one scene, but you eventually get used to it, I suppose. --Ventriloquist 01:27, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

He's an odd one, though. Sometimes it looks like he's actually trying to be useful, but in a highly unskilled way. Other times it's like "I just got crap from that chest, so I'm going to delete the drop info." A petulant child, perhaps. He must be bad, though - he made Ish drop a swear. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 01:37, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
That's exactly why he upsets me so much - if he would just pay attention to what we've been trying to tell him, I bet he'd (eventually) become a good editor. As it is, his valid contributions are relatively minor and are completely cancelled out by his inexplicable obsession with a few inconsequential quirks of the game. Why does a specific champion not drop a champion bag? Who cares? Just add a bug note about it (with proper capitalization, gah!) and ignore the champion in the future. "Petulant" is exactly the right word for him, Snog. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 01:52, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
He's been making an appearance on GWW converting Anomalies to Bugs.. not that I care since there isn't a definition between the two. Ooh, was meaning to mention that. Your bot also incorrectly added some icons to weird categories a while ago, so several categories (consumables and containers are popular) might need a doublecheck. --Ventriloquist 08:50, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
which, how long ago. (bot can't fail, I manually feed it a list for each category...) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:18, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

(Reset indent) It's odd, there's 50 consecutive edits that correctly categorize icons, and every now and then something slips by. For example, all of the Tribal armor icons are categorized as skills; so is the scythe of unknown origin. Also, these were all the last edits on the on 10 July. There's this, too. Anyway, like I said, there's not that many of them but the categories itself still need a check-up once we destroy categorize each icon. Also, I feel that WvW upgrade icons could use their own category, similar as to how the Guild Upgrades have it now, since it seems a bit far fetched to say they're just UI icons. --Ventriloquist 21:10, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

I couldn't think of a name for the category... so i just stuck them there for convenience. Only like 10 icons or so. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:06, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Zephyr Rucksack Skin

While I agree that a side-view is not necessary for the Lightning Catcher Skin, I do believe that the Zephyr Rucksack Skin is more useful when seen from the sides than from the direct back side. That way you don’t only see the all the details (like the thingy on the left barrel) but you also get a clearer idea of how large this thing actually is (since you see the character dimensions). poke | talk 10:34, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

You're right. I forgot that there was an aspect symbol on the barrel. I slapped on the delete tag on it because the view was partially obscured by the preview window's boxes, and it only showed a bit more of the angle, which I thought was unnecessary. I uploaded a new one showing the entire left side, I think you'll be happy with it. --Ventriloquist 10:38, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

When replacing an explicit list with a template, you should double-check to make sure all of the manual entries appear in the template's results. I don't think Chiubi had any sexist intentions when capturing the images, and like Felix said, no armor makes for a better screenshot. Out of all the races and genders, human females are usually the best for taking weapon screenshots as they don't wear those large-obscuring boxer shorts guys do, and the color of their underwear doesn't clash with any of the weapons, unlike male humans and norn. You should let Chiubi know her work captured some criticism, but I seriously doubt that was her intention. --Ventriloquist 22:13, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

crafted weapon sets

All of the standard crafted weapon sets are split between metal and wood names: tier 2 is Iron and Soft Wood, tier 3 is Steel and Seasoned Wood, etc. The tier 3 weapons were updated in the feature pack to have distinct skins; previously they shared the tier 2 skins. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:51, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Well, they are named after their tier... of primary material. Longbow, short bow, harpoon gun, torch, warhorn, scepter, staff, focus, and trident (i.e. all 4 artificer weapons and all huntsman weapons except pistol/rifle) are always named for the wood, and the rest are always named for the metal. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:57, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Its probably too late for him though, he was going downhill and theres a bloody great range block sitting on him now. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:25, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
Ooh, a shiny star. I mean; it's sad that he didn't even try this time, with all the diapers and Satans he created today. You'd assume that a three-month long block would suffice for dropping the wiki completely, but he'll be back, you'll see. If anything, the poopy diaper gave me a good laugh. --Ventriloquist 20:14, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
For your next trick, mr 24.108.9.203 and his revert-warring exclamation-point fetish. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 10:22, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
Ugh, been busy all morning; was about to revert him one last time and then block him if he persisted, but it looks like Ish took care of it. Beep boop. --Ventriloquist 18:36, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Trash Collector

Why not mention 1 Item (gift from mawdrey II), where all of the listed can be found easily each day? It only help people getting the achievement and its only one sentence... I don't want to listen all the item containing one or maybe 5 of them, but imo the gift is specially usefull for this achievement. I received 5 items, which I had't found yet... please undo your undo, thx.--46.5.198.207 21:32, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Because Gift from Mawdrey II doesn't necessarily grant trash items and is not a unique container granting just trash items. Nearly any monster loot bag drops trash, but they shouldn't be mentioned because it's not guaranteed. If each specific bag had a one-hundred percent at containing trash item, then it could/should be mentioned; but as it stands, it's just a percent chance. At the very least, the page could contain a note mentioning loot bags as a method of acquisition, but without singling out the Gift from Mawdrey. Ventriloquist 21:55, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Level 0 requirement items

level = 0 is required for such pages in order for the item lookup bonuses to be figured out. (defaulting to zero might seem sensible, but then we wouldn't notice when new stats become available). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 07:11, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Ah, didn't even notice that the stats were removed with the level. Thanks for that! --Ventriloquist 12:51, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Sure thing, I thought you were at work or something and couldn't access the icons. --Ventriloquist 21:43, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

hey you

Editing my leveling weapons pages will-nilly. My plan had been to edit them in a batch every morning, after I update my database, to reduce the overall number of edits needed. I guess I won't force you to stop editing whenever you feel like it, though. :P

Oh, I mostly update it when there's practically nothing else to do. I thought I was helping you, since, y'know, there's less stuff for you to do; but if you want, I can stop HELPING you. Ventriloquist 21:34, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Nah, keep doing whatever you want. I just felt like being silly about it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:37, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Good guy ishmael, letting others steal his edits.--Relyk ~ talk < 02:31, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Champion Drops Format

About Champion Rhendak the Crazed "Drops" section:

  1. Coins aren't guaranteed to drop, but they're not an item so it wouldn't look right for them to be listed along with items.
  2. Every champion ALWAYS drops a piece of fine or better equipment.

-Somohexual (talk) 21:54, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

We have always tried to only list those items that are specific to a creature, be it materials or champion bags. Coins are universal. They can drop from a level 5 spider or a level 80 champion. If we were to list them, then we would also have to do the same for Black Lion Chests and keys, since technically they can drop from anything. As for the equipment, I wasn't sure if it was guaranteed for champions, but if it is, put it back in. Also, adding regional splits (Ascalon, Maguuma Jungle etc) to unique enemies such as Rhendak is unnecessary because they are not found anywhere else, unlike common enemies. It widens the split of the creature's location for no reason. --Ventriloquist 22:02, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
