Champion Dust Mite Twister

File:User Azurem Gw814.jpg - It's a Champion but its name is just "Dust Mite Twister". I guess if you wanted to be a real stickler for formatting you'd move the page to Dust Mite Twister (Champion)? And then you'd have to change all the links which sounds like way too much work for such a minor thing to me. —Azurem 22:11, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Oh Azurem, you greatly underestimate my meticulousness of wiki formatting. I moved the page to the appropriate qualifier, but left a redirect just in case. Frankly, I'm a bit embarassed since I was the original creator of the article. —Ventriloquist 22:42, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Odd Merchant Tables

Melina and Evan Fleshgore have some weird tables as merchants, and I have no idea if they're right or wrong or sideways or skritt. I figured you'd know, since you're the formatting guru. (edit) Yay you found it! I'm all good now. XD - Doodleplex 21:58, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

I took care of Melina, going to annihilate fix Evan's page now. Those pages look weird because they have dynamic prices (as all armorsmiths do, but y'know...) —Ventriloquist 22:02, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Have fun! - Doodleplex 22:06, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
All done! —Ventriloquist 22:15, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Awesome! BTW are there any other really old formatting thing that drives you nuts? I can (try to) make your life easier and have my bot run to fix 'em. - Doodleplex 22:19, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Ugh, yeah. Off of the top of my head:
  • Items Offered -> Items offered
  • Guild Upgrades -> Guild upgrades
  • Recipes -> Used in
  • Recipe list -> Used in
  • Dialog -> Dialogue
  • Events -> Event involvement
  • Event Involvement -> Event involvement
  • Note -> Notes
  • See Also -> See also
Okay, that ended up being way too long... —Ventriloquist 22:36, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I actually did a run maybe a month ago specifically to change all "Events" to "Event involvement" (on NPCs anyway so a few objects could have it), so you can cross that one off your list. =D - Doodleplex 22:46, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

How about "Storyline I/involvement", "Personal S/story I/involvement", and "Personal S/storyline I/involvement" -> Story involvement... Or "Hearts" and "Renowned Hearts" and "Renowned Hearts I/involvement" -> Heart involvement... Konig (talk) 23:02, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Already did a run for Story involvement as well about the same time I did the Event involvement, though it seems to have missed one or two NPCs if "involvement" was misspelled. I'm not sure about the renown heart part though, isn't that just objects? - Doodleplex 23:06, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
I fixed four or five today that were "Personal Storyline involvement". You didn't get them all. Not even close. ;) Too many variations, I'd guess. Konig (talk) 00:05, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Marked off the ones I did yesterday, along with switching Combat abilities to Combat abilities and Historical Location to Historical location. Konig, you're right, there were a lot of variations, but I just did a second sweep of those, so now all the headers should be correct now for the personal story npcs. - Doodleplex 20:00, 14 January 2017 (UTC)

Creating a gallery without an infobox

Hey, I've noticed you removed the infobox gallery on Anomalous Form and understand your reasoning. However, I would like to create a sort of form so that the images align correctly with a short description beneath them. Do you have any recommendations to which template I should use? Or should I just try to free-hand it? I was using the infobox gallery in order to not freehand it, but it seems that's no longer an option. Sythe 20:44, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Check out how this is done, that should work for the anomalous form page.(edit) Oh btw, are these the appearances of the...whatever it is? - Doodleplex 20:51, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
Hello Sythe. I've taken the screenshots Doodle linked (yep, they're the anomalous forms) and added three of them to the article, with a short description beneath the images. Is this what you had in mind? —Ventriloquist 21:13, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
That's perfect. Thanks for adding them! Sythe 21:43, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
There's actually 10 of these. Depending on whether you use the Shdowstone or the Consortium's potion, your form takes on a red or blue tint. SarielV 20 x 20px 22:40, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU, THE GALLERY IS COMPLETE LA LA LA —Ventriloquist 23:15, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
Honestly, it's probably either 8 or 16. You'd have the Male/Female versions for human, sylvari, and norn (either 2 or 6 depending on if they share model resized), and then asura and charr, then double for the different hues (image shows only red (priory)). It's possible, but I doubt it, that asura and charr have a male/female version, which could increase the total number of models to... wait for it... 20. Konig (talk) 23:46, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
THAT SAID, we don't need all of them. Just get one per race/gender combo that exists (regardless of color), and one dual picture that shows the same model with red on one side and blue on the other to show the difference. Konig (talk) 23:48, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) *drags Konig off somewhere* It's totally complete. These aren't the droids you're looking for. Lalalalalalala. - Doodleplex 23:53, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

*stares at the two blank links for norn and sylvari* Complete... sure... So was the death star in Episode 6. :D Konig (talk) 00:00, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
"Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!" <- It was built, it just didn't look pretty. The gallery is built it just doesn't look pretty because we're missing two pictures. =3 - Doodleplex 00:12, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
I didn't actually know that the tint changes based on your selection. I can't get any pictures of this so perhaps instead of all of the examples, we could just have 1 example of the color change? :) Sythe 00:23, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
If needed, we could probably do something like [[:File:Poly-luminescent Undulating Refractor (Green) comparison.jpg|this]] and have them side by side in the same image. - Doodleplex 00:25, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
Knew you'd pull that quote... it was operational (aka working) but it wasn't completed. And no one said about it working - it was all about being completed! :D
Also, the 'one example of the color change' via a side by side is... exactly what I said... Konig (talk) 01:04, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Snowdrift Guide

My bad, I sic'd "southeast" because my spellchecker underlined it for some reason. But checking actual dictionaries you can definitely write it as one word. As for the other one, there's only one other occurrence of "Wayfarer's Foothills" on the wiki. We don't even have a redirect. It's obvious what he means, but it's certainly not a normal/common derivation so I think a 'yes he actually said that' is justified there. —Azurem 23:57, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you.

Stuff! Stuff! Stuff!

Literally, this is is skritt related inquiry, specifically Skritt Burglar. Other than a handful of World versus World NPCs(where I'm not sure about the drops being from the NPC or the bag of loot) and two Halloween bosses(stuff needs to be moved to events sorta thing I think), it's the only NPC left that still has {{drops|stuff}} it, but I have no idea what to do with that table of...well stuff. So I'll leave it up to your capable paws...erm..hands. - Doodleplex 01:21, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Oh god, okay, let's clean up that mess. —Ventriloquist 09:42, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I removed the copy-pasted fine crafting material table, but I think we should create a page for the object she drops (Bag of Loot (Skritt Burglar) would be fitting), because she doesn't drop anything directly. —Ventriloquist 10:03, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
Sounds like a good idea to me. The only trick is those bags can have any weapon or armor of fine to rare variety, so would just a "can drop either a weapon or armor of fine to rare rarity" or something do?(Note, I'm up too late so if I say something silly, it's just a derp Doodle moment) - Doodleplex 10:08, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
Yep, similar to what's already on the page. After creating the object page, we would link it via {{main}} on the Skritt Burglar page. —Ventriloquist 10:20, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Sorry about...

...that Serpent's Strike tag, I'm usually much better than that. =< It was one overly sleepy Doodle mistake(at least I didn't start naming things Spencer, right?). Also for the recent spam of "delete all these ancient move remnants", but I'm just killing time while waiting for my bot to finish a large task(though why I'm doing that instead of cleaning screenshots out...derrrrp. Just realized that >_<). Annnnyway, I come with a merge request of a not image kind, because I don't know if it can be done, but can you merge two talk pages? Talk:Gods of Tyria into Talk:Six Human Gods as the page eventually wound up there, so I was wondering... - Doodleplex 04:27, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Oh, it wasn't a big deal. A few edits here and there and the remnant was cleaned up. As for the talk page merge, I did some testing in my sandbox and it appears that talk pages don't merge well i.e. the 'merge' just overrides the old content. I think the talk pages you listed just could be copy-pasted the ol' fashioned way. —Ventriloquist 08:38, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
Okie dokie, I've copy pasted it then and marked the old talk page for deletion(since it's basically an orphaned talk page), thanks for testing for me! - Doodleplex 18:53, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Vision Crystal (object) versus Vision Crystal (Caladbolg)

I changed that to (Caladbolg) because there are objects (environmental weapons technically, iirc) called Vision Crystal in Arcana Obscura. Though for some reason the wiki doesn't have articles for or links to those objects. Konig (talk) 00:27, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

The name should still stay, and the one in Arcana Obscura should be Vision Crystal (bundle) (env. weapons are an incorrect term). —Ventriloquist 14:21, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Small Item Header Question

I had my bot run and fix anything that's only source of acquisition was a recipe, so that should make your life easier. After checking what it switched(just to make sure it was a good boy), I found these three items Mini Dolyak Calf, Small Wintersday Gift (toy tonic), and Bowl of Chocolate Chip Ice Cream that only come from recipes, but come from multiple recipes. Should these three items have a "Recipes" sub header because of this? - Doodleplex 19:32, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Nope, because the recipes are still the sole method of acquiring the item(s). We classify the method, not the 'amount' of methods i.e. if there's more than one recipe, we don't use 'recipes' (if it's the only acquisition method). However, if the items were to have multiple acquisition methods, then yes, the header should be pluralized. —Ventriloquist 19:37, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
Okiedokie. Will work on the the other things above this weekend so hopefully everything should be shiny soon heh. - Doodleplex 05:44, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Salvaging Raid Weapons

Do they all salvage the same result? If so, my bot can add the rest. - Doodleplex 19:37, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

As far as I'm aware, yes. I just went through the first raid ones, so all that's missing are the Bastion weapons, as seen [[Raid_standalone_weapons#Bastion_of_the_Penitent|here]]. —Ventriloquist 19:41, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
Alright, all done. - Doodleplex 19:52, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Weapon formatting

So I don't remember entirely how I wound up there, but I made Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Weapon formatting look slightly less sad looking. As I'm currently a sleepy little quaggan with a this-will-hurt-owie-dental appointment in the morning(saveeee meee), I leave it to you to see if I missed or messed up anything. - Doodleplex 06:53, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Hm, looks clear to me. Might be worthy to change the final (vendor) section to any other acquisition - such as from containers. —Ventriloquist 21:54, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Collections in infobox

Heya,

So I want to be certain of something before I finish coding V2 of my website. When we have a collection that depends on an item SKIN, say for example Cobalt with Exotic Hunter. Do we want to keep the collection in the ITEM INFOBOX page, or should it be only placed in the SKIN INFOBOX? -Darqam 18:32, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Uhhhhhhh, I'd go with items, since they're more popular than skin pages and have acquisiton methods that don't just link back to the weapon page. —Ventriloquist 18:35, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiine. I agree that's the better option, but it makes me do extra work :/ -Darqam 18:37, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
And I am confident that you can do it, Darq-bot. Huzzah! —Ventriloquist 18:38, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Other question. In scenarios like Machined Sword (achievement) we have the plated sword linked as an item, even though it's the skin that is part of the collection. I imagine this is how we want to keep it, or do we want to make it link to the skin page instead? -Darqam 17:08, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

If the skin only comes from a single source, I think we should link the source (in this case, the Plated Sword weapon). For cases with multiple sources, like the Illustrious Breastplate in the Ascended Accoutrement collection, the skin is by far easier to me.
So... how well can you teach your website to make judgment calls with fuzzy parameters? I'm sure that heuristic algorithms have gotten far enough along by now. Or perhaps I'm simply too impressed by V2 of your website. Stop setting my expectations so high. G R E E N E R 17:27, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
Yep, what Greener said. If it's a single source, link the item (because you can't unlock the skin from any other source, since it's only one). If it's multiple, like Greener pointed out, slap a skin on it, unless you prefer listing 20+ items, heh. Of course, if you can't do that, prioritize items over skins. —Ventriloquist 18:51, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
Hum... for how complicated that would be to implement, I think I'll stick for now with just a single item and let users correct it. Thanks for the info. And Greener... yeah no. I could probably work it out but I think it would start chunking a serious amount of time which I don't want to return to. -Darqam 19:50, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Icons or no icons

I feel like having the actual icons for effects displayed like Ruin.png Ruin instead of Ruin on several pvp maps adds more to the article and makes a better overview over what can be seen in the first moment and what a person is actually looking for. Though before i do anything i would like to discuss it with you cause you seem to remove them without a reason for me to see. Maybe you can tell me your reasons. Gandlos (talk) 22:16, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

I left my reason on this revision, but my apologies for forgetting to list them there as well. Icons are always preferable but due to their size and the way they 'fit', they look rather awkward in the middle of text (such as on this talk page, for example). However, the icons could definitely be added if they're placed at the start of a new line, such as:
  • Ruin.png Ruin is an effect that applies to all players within the arena after overtime starts. —Ventriloquist 22:26, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Hm i tend to disagree about it looking awkward in most cases unless its something like a skill icon but thats just my opinion. I will keep it in mind though and work with it from now on. Thank you for the fast reply. Gandlos (talk) 08:46, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Locomotion Impediment Dynamo

That's the icon, thanks! It's an odd transparent one too, so I didn't feel like a screenshot could do it justice. -Rain Spell (talk)

Sure thing! —Ventriloquist 23:10, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Blueprints Skill style

I tried to make the Skills table for the blueprints conistent, using class="skill table"; you changed it back to {{STDT|item}} at the pageSuperior Ballista Blueprints. Nearly all others use a grey based table, the blueprints and also the siege weapons itself, for example see: Ballista Blueprints#Skills or Ballista#Skills, etc... (There are at least 10 others examples, only a few doesn't have the skill table already, I would add them soon).

I don't care which style we use, but I would prefer to use only one style for all blueprint pages. Treating them as a bundle would justify the orange based theme. But since they are somehow unique and a standalone bundle-type would allow a grey table theme. --Tolkyria (talk) 12:20, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

That's just a matter of those pages not being updated, not a consistency issue. All bundle pages should use STDT because it's the 'new' table format i.e. the class=skill table should not be used for bundles/items. "But since they are somehow unique and a standalone bundle-type" They're not really that special, they're just items (with skills) that create a bundle, and there's a handful of those out there. —Ventriloquist 13:01, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for your help. And what about the siege weapon itself, like Flame Ram? --Tolkyria (talk) 13:30, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Sure thing. At the end of the day, STDT and the class table create the same thing, STDT is just more customizable (and pretty!). —Ventriloquist 15:32, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Spirit Wolf

Hey, can you also delete the .png image of the Spirit Wolf? I seem not to be able to delete files, even if I'm the only contributor and it's nowhere used. Thank you!Valka (talk) 11:56, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Already done. :) As for the delete feature, it's only reserved for Sysopses, meaning regular users cannot delete files. However, you can add {{delete|<reason>}} to a file's page when you want it deleted and we'll make sure it's gone. —Ventriloquist 11:58, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Ah nice, I will use that feature next time! Thank you for explaining! And if I might ask another question: Is there some sort of realtime-chat for the editors here? - Valka (talk) 12:04, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Feel free to ask away! As for the chat, we do have an IRC, if you're familiar with it. Besides that, you can always contact us through our talk pages or in-game, although that is less realtime. —Ventriloquist 12:13, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

wow wow wow, hold up...

So you're telling me that we want the * there? If so then I need to take my bot a revert a bunch of partial edits I made 😨 -Darqam 14:04, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Yes! You had a bot bot to remove those? —Ventriloquist 14:07, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
This is exactly why we're supposed to log what we're doing with our bots on GW2W:BOTS (even if its after having done tasks), we've got no visibility otherwise. I have a confession though, I added some material storage parameters to the item infobox recently and didn't write down what I did either. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:45, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
Those weren't bot edits, I did those changes when I did all the verification requests like 2 days ago. This was very much visible, but in a sea of like 50 edits so I doubt anyone looked at it. I will however go back on those pages with a bot and adjust those.
I've so far always used that bot log for any edits, only exceptions have been fixing bad image details when I uploaded them (as those are not relevant to log). -Darqam 18:07, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
Edits performed, bot page updated as well. I think I caught all the occasions of this happening, but may have missed some. -Darqam 18:39, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I was actually just being clever and using 'bot' as a verb (hence the italic) i.e. I was just asking Darq-human for confirmation if he removed those. You can safely move them back in now, no harm done. —Ventriloquist 19:28, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Sic in fractals' chests

Hey, I've just seen you removed my [sic] notes on a few wiki pages. They were placed there because in-game window shows the item listed twice (you can check it). The F. Prince (talk) 12:29, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

(in-game right click > preview window right?) Hmm I think that it's probably worth noting in an {{anomaly}} note on the page (or a small text note beside it), but please don't use the contains template twice (on the same page containing the same item) or it'll screw stuff up because our automated queries are dumb. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 12:35, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
It's probably linked to a different number of items received, but there's no amount in the preview window. User Judas Sig.pngudas 12:36, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
That should be added either as a bug or as an anomaly note in the notes section, yes, specifically for the reason Alex pointed out (and also because it confuses people checking out the contents section). —Ventriloquist 12:51, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Okay. When I was updating the page I included everything exactly the way it was shown in-game. I'm going to update the remaining chests now. Thanks! The F. Prince (talk) 16:33, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Sure thing! For future reference, the {{sic}} template can also handle explanations e.g. {{sic|should be "to", not too}} will, when hovered over, show the "explanation" of the sic tag. Use those to avoid any confusion or semi-redundant removals, such as the ones I did, heh. —Ventriloquist 18:23, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Mounts.png

Hey Vent, mind explaining how you were able to rip File:Mounts.png? When I tried I was left with a black-and-white image in a format none of my editing programs could handle. --Idris (talk) 00:12, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

I found it in the source code of the page. Went to the mounts section, expanded the divs, found the large version of the file (like so). It came as a svg format, so I just transferred it to png. —Ventriloquist 10:11, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
Ah, nice. svg was the format I ended up with as well, and I wasn't sure if it was even possible to convert to a useable format. Google tells me it can be done with special software. Fair enough. Thanks! --Idris (talk) 12:36, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
On a similar note, I managed to yoink File:PoF Elite Specs.png. If you know of anywhere to put it, go ahead, will try to work on isolating each class, but I have no idea how long that will take. -Darqam 15:33, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
I added it to the elite specialization section of the PoF page, I think it looks decent. 👌 —Ventriloquist 19:24, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Page priority for Ambush: skill or skill type

Hey, so the Mirage gains Ambush attacks that replace autoattacks, similar to thieves with stealth attacks. The Ambush page is currently displays a thief skill - what's the correct way to go about it? Move it to Ambush (skill) to make way for the skill type overview page or just create Ambush (skill type) instead? —Nefastu 11:42, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Hm, while it might be easier to do Ambush (skill type), the Ambush mechanic will have more use than a single thief skill, so move the thief skill to Ambush (skill). —Ventriloquist 11:47, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

PoF insight?

Okay, it's weird. How do you get all the info about PoF zones? My curiosity is taking over. O.O The F. Prince (talk) 22:27, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

Yep. I'm basically stopping the video every few frames to catch all of the NPCs and stuff. It sounds tedious, but I'm actually having fun. —Ventriloquist 22:44, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
When new areas come out, I go through my story as normal and screen shot NPCs and dialogues. Then I cry when I delete like 10MB of pictures the day after. At least with videos you aren't taking full mega shots like normal.--Rain Spell (talk) 23:47, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Honestly, watching videos is so much easier for me. Although I can't wait to explore all of that on my own... —Ventriloquist 23:55, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Oh, actually I am not going to watch the videos. I prefer the excitement when PoF finally will come out. ^^ The F. Prince (talk) 08:50, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

You can always add a statement in your vector/monobook.js file like $('.editButtons').append(' | ← – ²{ « ¦ ¶ » }² — →');. I have that (among other things) User:Darqam/vector.js, I believe originally stolen from Chieftain Alex. -Darqam 19:48, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

About PoF NPCs

Do we really need every single generically named NPC to be with (Crystal Desert) at the end? I don't see the point of Citizen (Crystal Desert) or Priory Explorer (Crystal Desert). They hold little to no role, and what role they may hold, like the Priestess of Kormir, could just be added to the base page. Same with models and locations. Konig (talk) 19:28, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

Plenty of them have unique dialogue tied to them, which I wouldn't want to mix in with the core NPCs. They're tied to expansion-location, expansion-story, expansion-achievements and events, and it's not something I think should be crammed in with pages that refer to the base game. —Ventriloquist 19:44, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
Same can be said of HoT npcs. They have HoT/S3 greets, a new set of appearances, and naturally tied to expansion locations. We do not separate them.
On the same note - the Priory in Crystal Oasis use HoT models (worn down and battered gear), though I cannot be certain of greets (few have actual interactions). In fact, few NPCs in general have actual interaction capabilities - it seems only those with a dialogue box can be interacted with at all in PoF from what I've seen, and most generically named NPCs do not have such (so far, only Priestess of Kormir do that I've seen), thus negating the whole dialogue thing. Few are tied to expansion-achievements, and we've never had a problem with location/story involvement either. Konig (talk) 02:15, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
We didn't have so many same-named NPCs in HoT, though. We never had a whole new cultural continent with NPCs that use different greets and such. You can interact with them, there's a handful around the Amnoon Farms, several Sailors near the docks and into the ruins and I'm sure there's more. I will agree with you on the Priory Explorers though, I was hesitant to add that one.
With that being said - why are you in favor of creating seven different versions for refugees that "only" differ in race? If your answer is "they're tied to the story", then, well so are these NPCs. —Ventriloquist 08:37, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
Figured you'd bring that one up. Basically, imo, it's largely the difference in importance. Each refugee holds a different role - some are event tied, some are just dialogue (text dialogue that is, not just simple greets). If it were just models, locations, and greets then I'd set them up like Citizen, Soldier (NPC), Local, etc. who have next to no role other than filling up space - the same thing as most of the NPCs you've divided. Those few that you divided and have an actual role, like the Priestess of Kormir, are fairly small roles (though they appear throughout Crystal Oasis, their appearance and dialogue is the exact same for every appearance so far; this may change when we get into Temple of Kormir though), so the adding of details won't actually hinder the article as one can see as folks already added the info to the old article.
Ultimately, it boils down to the question: are most of these variances just "filler NPCs" or do they serve a greater purpose (even if that purpose is just to give some world building lore in dialogue box form)? The NPCs of Amnoon... seem to be the former. Konig (talk) 08:47, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
So, aside from refugees, you wouldn't split any? —Ventriloquist 09:13, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
From what I've seen? Not yet. This isn't to say none should be, just that I've not seen any worth splitting besides refugees (honestly, if it weren't for the Krytan, sylvari, and hylek refugees (though the sylvari ones were renamed in ToN), I wouldn't even split refugees). So far the closest one to worth being split is the Priestess of Kormir, but not yet - maybe when we get the full PoF it will be worth splitting, though. Konig (talk) 17:09, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
Going through the billion edits today, I found that most folks missed the whole "split core from PoF" NPCs that I already created, so I went and removed most of them. I somehow always end up agreeing with you. —Ventriloquist 17:10, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Hidden change with Game Update 22.09.2017. Need help!

Skill  Energy Expulsion.png Energy Expulsion had a stealth change with newest update. It was split between modes. In PvE got 2 sec CD, in PvP there is 10 sec CD now. There was no CD yesterday, since I spammed the ability in PvP matches. I don't know how to split the skill appropriately (reverted some previous erroneous edits of mine). Help please! The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.110.105.170 (talk).

Looks like it's not a hidden change (I missed it somehow), but the page still needs adaptation for the skill split. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.110.105.170 (talk).
Hi there friend. I have made the changes, and split the skills accordingly. Hope it helps! —Ventriloquist 09:51, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for moving Mini Prairie Dog.jpg!

Hey! I rarely upload stuff to any wikis, thats the first time I saw that message. I thought it meant I couldn't name the file that because it is too similar. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for moving it, it makes the URL much prettier! (Edit: woops, image in title!) --Felixwolf (talk)

Hey Felix, no problem! The warning is shown because the icon (with the png format) has the same name as the screenshot you upload (in jpg format), so the warning is basically telling you "Hey, wait, are you trying to upload the icon again, but in a different format?". You can just click "ignore any warnings" down below, or "click ignore warning and save anyway" to avoid that. Feel free to ask more questions if anything else confuses you! —Ventriloquist 13:29, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Choya Choya Choya

...apparently they're plants according to the Plant Slayer achievement. Should we make them a plant sub-section kinda like Jellyfish is for Fish or just change all of them to have their race be plant in the infobox? - Doodleplex 02:35, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Sorry for getting to you so late on this, my internet has been messed up for the past week, I feel like a caveman. I think it's okay to make it a sub-section, while similar to cacti, just having "plant" directly in the infobox might make things weird. —Ventriloquist 09:20, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

How to pronounce that

Apparently it's "sis" like sister and "op" as in opportunity. Also apparently it's an abbreviation of "system operator". Pooba...baby quaggan icon.png - Doodleplex 06:33, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

Psh! It's obviously pronounced sys ("system") - op ("operator")! —Ventriloquist 12:17, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Map Completion and Repeatable Hearts

So I noticed you just edited Map Completion and, while I agree with most of the edit on the grounds that the tone of the removed text doesn't fit on wikis, you also removed a block of text mentioning that Repeatable Renown Hearts only need to be completed once to count for Completion. I feel that a block of text to that effect should be present on the page, but given the current flow of the page I'm not sure where it should go. PaladinOne (talk) 15:54, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Hm, I removed it because it was already mentioned on the renown heart page. Additionally, the article feels more like it's aimed at core Tyria completion, rather than referring to the later maps (with repeatable hearts). However, you're right, it can't hurt, so I've added it in one of the intro paragraphs. 16:47, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Object with no name

Hello, I'd like you to ask how to proceed with creating the page for memorial of Deputy Qais - there is interactable object ingame, but the nameplate isn't shown nor you can target it. And naming it "Unnamed Object (Free City of Amnoon)" seems...weird? Sime (talk) 23:58, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Sime. Just to make sure, what does the dialogue UI call the object? Is the object tagged 'Unknown' when targeted? If the latter is true, naming it "Unknown (Free City of Amnoon)" seems appropriate considering we have an unknown list already. —Ventriloquist 23:04, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
It isn't named at all. Sime (talk) 23:07, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Hm, alright. In that case, it might be best to name it to something that matches its function/appearance; I did the same thing ages ago with Bulletin board (as you can see in this video the object itself doesn't have a name in the UI). I suggest naming it one of the following:
  • Memorial to Deputy Qais
  • Deputy Qais Memorial
  • Memorial (there's currently no wiki article with that name, and we could always move it to Memorial (Free City of Amnoon) if one pops up)
The first option might seem the best, but I'll let you decide (or if you have any suggestions that I haven't listed). Deputy Qais needs to be honored! —Ventriloquist 10:35, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
I think Memorial to Deputy Qais is the best option (and is what I originally had in mind), so it is done. Thank you for the help. Sime (talk) 15:03, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

As I look upon you with eyes full of admiration...

Heh, I like my talk page to hit the 40+ mark before I archive, but I might do it soon, considering the first posts are over a year old now. As for the conversations, it's not actually my research but rather a blog dedicated to documenting ambient dialogue across the game. Well now isn't that a lovely site! Thanks for pointing it out to me. G R E E N E R 20:51, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

User character page on the wiki

Hey, is it allowed to create a new article/page for a user character? Goldammer (talk) 19:31, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi there. You absolutely can, just make sure you create it in a so-called 'userspace'. You do that by using a / in front of your username when creating an article. For example, if you were to create a page for a character named Test1, the article/page would be located at User:Goldammer/Test1.
You can do this for any article that you want in your namespace, like I did for a sandbox page, or a cute barracuda article. Feel free to ask away if you have any more questions or concerns! —Ventriloquist 19:44, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
alright! Thanks for explaining! Goldammer (talk) 18:06, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Btw: can you do the same for images? Goldammer (talk) 21:41, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Yes, so long as you name the image "User Goldammer <image name>" and add {{user image|Goldammer}} to the file. Example: File:User Ventriloquist Barracuda.png --Idris (talk) 22:50, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Okay, like this? File:User Goldammer Metellus-character-Onmount.jpg --Goldammer (talk) 11:49, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
Exactly like that :) —Ventriloquist 12:01, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Orphaned user images

Hi Vent, I have a question about user images that aren't used on any user pages -- do these get cleaned out alongside other unused images? I've just uploaded a SAB-themed image that's designed to only display on my page during April, which means that it won't be displayed for most of the year. Should I add a {{not orphaned}} or will it be fine as-is? --Idris (talk) 19:00, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

There's a handful of orphaned user images that have been here since the early days (like 2007 early), and I know that Alex used to keep an eye on his project page. We don't really delete them with unused images, since they are quite low on the priority list (plus, there's always a chance that the user might come back, less likely for the files that are over a decade old though), so in theory your image(s) should be safe, but adding a not orphaned tag wouldn't hurt, just in case a mass wipe happens on the ~500 or so unused files. —Ventriloquist 19:53, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
Will do, thanks for letting me know! --Idris (talk) 19:58, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Ezrielia

Hey, it's me again, I just friendly wanted to explain you this story of gates: The Funhouse gate is named Inquest Security Gate inside of the asuran story, and Gate outside of her, so a simply solution: We let the security gate page, we delete the Inquest stone gate page, and I add detail on the page "Gate (object)". Hope you will comprehend, thanks by advance. I apologize for this awful discussion page. But here is why I moved the page: gate (funhouse) don't exist, she is either "gate" or "inquest security gate", this thing perturbed me and now I dunno if we need to merge her with gate(object), I want your opinion. Also thanks for recreating funhouse page. --Inquest Overseer Ezrielia (talk) 15:44, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Looked into it. We have three instances of this "one" object. Monkey Wrench, where it has the name Inquest Security Gate; A Sparkling Rescue, where it has the name Gate; open world, where it has the name Gate. The latter two currently link to Gate (The Funhouse).
Given that it is basically the same thing, to me, making it one page would be no different than our Ceara redirect going to Scarlet Briar and other such similar situations. We just need to link it as [[Inquest Security Gate|Gate]] on the latter two instances, and put a note on the article itself. Konig (talk) 20:35, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
We could do either that, or jam all the gates (referred to as such) at Gate (PvE) or the existing Gate (object), leaving only a few (such as the Inquest Security Gate) to have unique names. —Ventriloquist 20:38, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
