Not sure what happened XD

Hey there doodle, I wanted to replace the Charr female horn image (the one with the pink background) to add one of the horn styles that was forgotten. But it now has the old image again so I'm not sure what happened. (it's been a while since i was last here) would you be able to get the right image there? Goldammer (talk) 17:01, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

It's just a caching issue on your side. I'm seeing the newer, nine-image picture, so the wiki's been updated (thanks!). You can try clearing the cache on your side manually, ctrl+shift+R, or wait for your browser to do that by itself. G R E E N E R 17:46, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

Because cats rule

Well, I was going to clean up some of my old images, but I guess File:User Greener Cats.jpg can stay around, as per your un-deletion text. G R E E N E R 21:54, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

I mean you can rename and put my name in instead of yours if you don't want it anymore. ;D - Doodleplex 21:56, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Shared Model Project + Shared Model Project/Unique NPCs

It seems that you and user Konig Des Todes are frequent editors of these projects so I was wondering about issue with the same models but different weapons. Recently I took a pictures of Awakened Charrs, they share same model but have different weapons and these are named differently according to their weapon (Windcaller - daggers, Lifebinder - staff, Sandshifter - another staff, etc). Should they have each own image or should they share same image? I have seen that there are cases in this project that there are uploaded same models but with different models but I am wondering what is an "official" statement regarding that. Hansmith (talk) 10:42, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

If they have different weapons, I prefer to make to be faithful to what we see in game. For example: File:Human female 5 (alt).jpg v File:Human female 5.jpg, same model but one has a sword one doesn't, so they're split to accurate represent what's in the game. Hope that helps you! - Doodleplex 19:48, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

As the conversation happened on discord, I'll recap it here: I tried the same browser as well as used other computers and mobile devices, and it works fine. It appears to be on your end as you're using a beta branch of something(which you stated). I can't help more than that unfortuantely. - Doodleplex 19:48, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

Historical vs. Discontinued

Regarding the Boost Enchantment Powder change, is the only difference between the two is whether or not a player has it in their inventory still? Or its API status? I used historical, since I copied the status from Captain's Council Commendation, which I still have (a large number of them) on one of my hoarding toons. Does that mean the commendation page should be updated to discontinued as well? --Choco-muffin (talk) 04:52, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

If its an item, and it still exists in some form in your inventory, it'll be "discontinued". -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 10:53, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
Btw, if an item exists in the API, it might mean that acquisition has been removed from the game since the API-whitelist got deleted fiasco. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 10:56, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
How should the vendor list be handled? I already deleted the Powder from the vendor list. Should that be the action for discontinued? For historical, I saw formerly sold gemstore items listed as historical. --Choco-muffin (talk) 16:15, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
There is a way to mark it as historical, see Sonder the Seller for how to do that. =) - Doodleplex 16:17, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
OK, so I'll undo the vendor list removal and mark it as historical. Thanks. --Choco-muffin (talk) 16:33, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Restore the Flamekissed armor (historical) pages

This removed armor set still has functional wardrobe links, with unique icons, armor skins, and text strings. Can't use the current version to document that information.

Deleted pages to be restored:

 • :File:Flamekissed Shoes (historical).png
 • :File:Flamekissed Pants (historical).png
 • :File:Flamekissed Gloves (historical).png
 • :File:Flamekissed Vest (historical).png
 • :File:Flamekissed Mantle (historical).png
 • :File:Flamekissed Mask (historical).png
 • Flamekissed Shoes (historical)
 • Flamekissed Pants (historical)
 • Flamekissed Gloves (historical)
 • Flamekissed Vest (historical)
 • Flamekissed Mantle (historical)
 • Flamekissed Mask (historical)

The summary for the deletion of the files says they were duplicate, but I don't see them anywhere else in the wiki. Old revisions don't count, obviously, since they can't be linked to properly.

I'd suggest to wait a few days before deleting any of the "unobtainable skins" pages, since it's probable many will end up requiring restoration.--Lon-ami (talk) 11:21, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

I will not restore them: they were causing issues/breaking templates in main space articles. You can remake them in your userspace, but if they continue to cause issues, I will either delete them again or put the page behind lines. Additionally, all relevant content, including the previous icons, were added to the existing pages where the content should have been to begin with. - Doodleplex 23:29, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
Following my conversation with Doodle it won't break anything if we apply the user skin infobox instead of skin infobox. Restored+moved+edited. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 00:00, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

You'd have to ask Alex, I don't know about the User templates, I don't want to add something and it suddenly starts breaking main space articles again. - Doodleplex 13:32, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Wintersday drop stuff

Hi Doodle. I've realised we still link to Template:Container research header which is probably going to be broken. Might want to copy the halloween widget and modify accordingly too. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 01:00, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

I feel like a lot of stuff is broken. Should I create a widget instead of using the Form? - Doodleplex 01:34, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and made a widget using the ToT bag one as an example.
Since the drop categories are slightly different for Personalized Wintersday Gift vs Wintersday Gift I think we should use separate templates. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:42, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
I agree. I also believe we need to split the Personalized ToT bags and regular ToT bags since they no longer have the same drops, but that can wait. Wintersday is coming up and I'd rather it be all good to go before it starts. - Doodleplex 17:47, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
Okay things left to update:
 1. Template:Wintersday Gift research line - plaintext list of items
 2. Template:Wintersday Gift research summary - table-fied list of items
 3. Widget:Wintersday Gift drop research form - json list of items

Tyrro's ambient dialogue

Hiya!

I'm the person who added Lionguard Tyrro's ambient dialogue and the note about the nod to the playerbase, and I noticed you moved it to the area page instead, and omitted the transcribed dialogue. I'm not sure that's the right choice, considering the trivia note is only relevant for Tyrro himself, and not for the area as a whole. On top of that, removing the transcription altogether seems wasteful. Thoughts? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.208.212.114 (talk).

Trivia placement aside, Tyrro's dialogue was already listed under Fort Marriner#Ambient dialogue, which is why Doodleplex didn't add it anywhere. However, that section shows that Lionguard Atrix has some of the lines that you attributed to Tyrro. We should verify which one of them says the cough/Scarlet bit. - Felix Omni 17:03, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
Hello friend! On the wiki we document ambient dialogue on area pages instead of NPC pages and like Felix said it was already on the area page. I moved the trivia to the area page since I felt it fit better there, not to mention, I feel it's more visible there as well. I am going to double check that dialogue to make sure we have who says it correctly, so honestly, thanks! =) - Doodleplex 21:03, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Legendary Imbued Shaman

Why would you edit the Legendary Imbued Shaman to say it's affected by the elemental slaying potions and sigils and add the tag to say it needs verification, when there's verification it's *only* affected by the demon potion? https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/azgpqg/on_the_inaccuracy_of_the_demonslaying_sigil/ The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frusen (talkcontribs) at 10:40, 22 April 2019‎ (UTC).

It's fairly simple: I didn't care what race the NPC was nor am I able to test the race of the NPC; damage testing and potions I really don't have a clue about(and I have little time to do so even if I did understand that stuff). The simplest way of resolving the dispute you were having with the other user was for data/information to be obtained by neutral players from of the current state if the game. Hence the verify tag, and in the end, that's what happened, Alex tested it out quite thoroughly. I admit I probably should have left the race as blank as Alex did, so my apologies if it appeared I was taken I side. - Doodleplex 19:28, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

WvW canons - wheels or no

Those you build at pre-placed sites on walls, etc. don't have wheels, but otherwise they do. The models of the canons themselves are the same, it's just a different "base" so to speak, which is fairly minor. Just clarifying, whether or not you want to reduce images or not I'll leave to you. Konig (talk) 23:22, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Harpoon and Speargun

Mind explaining yourself? For reference: Harpoon and Speargun (notice the difference?). You might want to talk it with User:Chieftain Alex, because each of you is enforcing a different model (and I'm merely following his). For the record, I prefer yours, with the disambiguation page taking precedence over the redirect.--Lon-ami (talk) 12:36, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

My reasoning to keep both redirects would be as follows:
 • Looking at the "spear" weapon type, 22 out of 93 contain the word "harpoon" in the title (i.e. 25%)
 • Similarly 36 of the 84 "harpoon gun" type weapons contain the word "speargun" (i.e. 43%)
so from my perspective I think that redirects from both are appropriate. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:45, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Personal input: I agree with making both Harpoon and Speargun as disambiguation pages and not redirects. Konig (talk) 19:56, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
So? Any final decision? Either one or another.--Lon-ami (talk) 13:55, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
I agree with Konig, I dislike redirects getting used when a page could use the name. I’ll try to fix it tomorrow with my bot so links don’t get weird. - Doodleplex 01:25, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Insignia

The insignia redirects have been there for good reason. The insignia page names consist of 1) crafting discipline rank and 2) insignia to mirror the pages Crafting discipline/Crafting discipline rank recipes, e.g. Tailor/Initiate recipes. However, these insignia pages names doesn't really exists ingame, but instead the previous insignia redirects somehow does, since they basically are the insignia names without the prefix. For example tier 2 insignias, i.e. Initiate insignia: there exists Hunter's Wool Insignia, Ravaging Wool Insignia, etc, so one can generally speak of Wool Insignia, there exists Hearty Embroidered Wool Insignia, Honed Embroidered Wool Insignia, etc... so one can speak of Embroidered Wool Insignia and the same for Embroidered Wool Insignia. However, the terms Embroidered Initiate Insignia and Intricate Initiate Insignia doesn't make any sense at all. Furthermore, for example, you replace Wool Insignia with Initiate insignia, but Initiate insignia pages includes also Embroidered and Intricate, so again, this doesn't match.

Furthermore, see Tailor/Initiate recipes#Armor and co. Again, the redirects have been there for good reason. To see which insignia is needed, namely for Fine armor one Wool Insignia, for Masterwork armor one Embroidered Wool Insignia and for Rare armor one Intricate Wool Insignia... and that's a big difference to now, where all recipes just say Initiate insignia

Furthermore, not sure why you are also replacing icon name, see here, leaving pages with broken icons.

Construct

Since you're not bothering to start any kind of discussion about this, I'll do it for you. Here's what it says on the Construct page: "Constructs are artificial creatures animated by magical means. They have a wide range of possible appearances, from fully magical to being very mundane but powered by magic." Granted the substantial amount of object-like things that were granted NPC-status by Anet by now, I think the fairer and simpler change to make would be to include "and things/objects" in the description line instead of what you're doing (which would also avoid needlessly bloating the Unknown category with things that could already be listed). You're most likely going to say that it's an assumption I'm making but we're way past this point already, with pages like Astral creature existing on the wiki since almost three years now. Besides, a large majority of the pages you changed are about objects that are indeed powered by some kind of magic, as the description states, anyways. 70.82.113.198 03:19, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

There's been a discussion on the discord. The discussion was moved to the infobox template page. - Doodleplex 03:29, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
So first you have discussions that are not entirely public on an external site that not everyone goes to and then apply said changes anyway without even reaching a final consensus and then you expect someone like me to just know that when I see you go ahead with them? That seems awfully backwards and nonsensical to me. 70.82.113.198 03:34, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
In the first place Doodle applied their own judgement based on previous experience on the wiki; which has almost always been to try to not guess race or other details without confirmation. Secondly this topic of NPC vs object has been going on for a while here and there (discord and wiki). Following a conversation on the discord with myself we agreed this was too significant to be kept on discord (which can be accessible to all within 2-3 clicks) and was moved to the page.
I'm not sure why there's this feeling of aggressiveness steaming from your actions/words. The wiki has often tried to confirm things prior to making significant classifications, this does at time take aaaaaaages. If you are not happy with this status, I encourage you to bring up a topic about wanting to spearhead such changes on the community portal or other such location.
Though the wiki does try to reflect what the game shows as is, sometimes things need to be taken with a grain of salt or else it would be a righteous mess (for example no instanced content would be classified as happening in any existing map). -Darqam
I'm aware that Discord exists but this has to be the first wiki I've ever been a part of that seems to use it this extensively. I personally don't think it's a good practice, as it leads to a lot of confusion. No one should have to scour Discord to be in the know about what's going on. That's what open community pages should be about. That way people know what is posted, when and where and it stays there forever. And while we're on the topic, I don't see why I should be the one to spearhead the discussion when I haven't been the one putting these as 'Unknown'. You've said this discussion has been going on forever on both sites but this is the first time I'm hearing of it, and I was on the wiki for a while as a lurker before starting to contribute. I find it odd that it would surface, along with complimentary reverts, that quickly after I started listing some pages as such. 70.82.113.198 03:47, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
You're right that it shouldn't just be on discord, so it was moved here, I'm actually more of a fan of things being here than on the discord for this very reason. As to where it was on the wiki, I'm not sure I remember where it was. Additionally, the unnecessary aggressiveness is not warranted, I didn't see a need to start a discussion upon pursing a category to find things that might have accidentally wound up in the wrong place. I suggest you take your tone back a bit. The rest of this discussion is better suited for the community portal since it's more about debating how things are documented. - Doodleplex 04:15, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Sylvari Commander in Noble's Folly

"Additionally upon mousing over her, it would seem she has dialogue, but as she cannot be interacted with, the dialogue is unknown." I don't quite get this. How can you know if she has dialogue from mousing over the NPC? You have to go up and see a prompt to Talk, and even then, thousands of NPCs have that bug just give basic greets. Also went and removed speculation about her being part of the Pact - as we do like to avoid speculating. Konig (talk) 22:34, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

The Pact part was because somebody in discord assumed they were Pact. And mousing over her had the cursor changed to a speech bubble cursor instead of the usual arrow cursor. - Doodleplex 22:38, 8 December 2019 (UTC)

Links: If it's for a userpage, you can directly link to the youtube video of your choice. There isn't a widget to embed videos on the wiki. If it's for the mainspace, we use links to the search page on youtube to be as un-biased as possible.
Actual upload: No, the wiki doesn't facilitate video uploads. The upload size for anything is 8mb - barely enough for a gif (yes gif is shitty at compression). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:41, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Hey there, saw you transferring yesterday's stream of Josh into new details on SAB pages. But on Glove of Wisdom, something was mixed up I think (but not sure since I didn't see the stream at that point). Question about Shared Model Project

Today I was wondering if F2P accounts have restrictions in buying gathering tools because someone couldn't get them at Tara and I noticed she has different model now than on wiki. I uploaded new one since Human Female Model 5 had sword and she didn't (so I created new alt) and I started noticing more NPCs with wrong pictures in this model's category and swapping them around until I stumbled upon Merchant Trundle and Zinka (human) and started to think that some of them may just have randomly generated models as well maybe? I am not sure if my editions would be correct and I haven't saved the swaps on project pages yet (outside of Tara). I am not sure if I should continue switching pictures to reflect the in-game state I see and update the project page or not, I don't want to mess up the project page, so I am seeking your opinion. (So far I changed pictures for Tara, Clareen Taylor, Kayla and Helatia.) - Ylanniss (talk) 18:37, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Many NPCs use random models, so we just put one of them and then use | random = yes in infobox to indicate they have several models. Unless the npc doesn't change models, no need to go around and "fix" them. EDIT: For example, Helatia is 100% one of the npcs that have random models, since in my instance she uses the image you replaced. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 18:41, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Okay, thanks very much! I was worried it was unneded "fixing" from my side and it seems it was. Thanks also for adding to the infobox of these NPCs. Should I revert the images to the old ones so they are accurate on the project site? - Ylanniss (talk) 18:58, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Or you can switch the names to the current picture on the project site. Wouldn't worry about it that much atm, since there are still plenty of pictures/npcs missing from it. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 19:01, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Okay, thanks again. I had the project page change ready just to click "save" so I went with that. - Ylanniss (talk) 19:07, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Mistake in 2016

On File:Lightbringer Krentch.jpg you replaced the image under the misapprehension that "even stealthed NPCs can have their models changed it seems". But this guy actually cycles through a couple armor sets at random. Yeah! — Cronos 01:53, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Um yes, that's what I said: Their armor changes, ie they're just one of the NPCs that has a random appearance, so there wasn't a mistake in what I said. Also, we leave the UI on for stealhed NPCsm because they're too hard to see otherwise, so I'm going to revert back to the previous version. - Doodleplex 02:16, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Skin infobox usage on user space

What's the exact problem? I'd ask you to stop reverting anything else until you have a solid reason, since you're breaking quite a few things that were working fine before.--Lon-ami (talk) 02:18, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

First, turn the hostility back, it's not warranted over one edit. Template:User skin infobox was created so users such as yourself could play with skin pages without creating SMW properties by using the Skin infobox. However, if there's something wrong with the user template, then I can try to fix that for you if you would like. - Doodleplex 02:41, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
So, there's any problem with the skin infobox or not? Because I checked its usage thoroughly and I found none. No point at updating a two-years-old duplicate when the modernized original works fine.
Also, don't look for hostility where there's none, a question about an article-breaking revert with no explanation behind it is not hostility, it's just a question.--Lon-ami (talk) 03:05, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
The problem as such is that it creates SMW properties where they really shouldn't be created at all. That increases the probability of your user space content appearing in mainspace searches and templates. As a wiki we have been pretty thorough with removing mainspace infobox templates with SMW from userspace pages. See 1, 2, 3. Now look at 4 - why should one rule apply to your user pages and not apply to everyone else? Another particularly annoying thing about mainspace templates in userspace is that whenever we change parameter names etc, someone has to go around fixing them eventually. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 06:20, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
No problem, just wanted to know the reasons. I don't necessarily need an infobox to get the end result I want, I just went that route to recycle old pages. The only reason why I haven't tagged all these pages for deletion is because of the property system, remove it and they become pointless, since I won't be able to hotlink to them anymore.
So, how about some custom properties instead? Just for user space usage. Something such as Property:Has custom property (alphanumeric value, allowing special symbols for value separation) followed by mandatory usage of Property:Is for user (so you can crawl across just the pages you own). Properties are pretty useful, and we already have custom CSS, so why not?
If that's an option, I'll make my own version of the infobox on my user space, and remove any references to the official one. I only care about these four properties:
I can input them in a single value, such as "Krait Javelin;Krait Harpoon;Spear;0" then split them internally to get the end result I want.--Lon-ami (talk) 11:09, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
I can't add anything further since I think Alex is gonna look into this, though I do apologize for my comment about the hostility of the initial question. Also Lon, if you find anymore skin pages that have (skin) and shouldn't let me know, I can maybe do a bot task to move & and fix the links for all those so you don't have to. - Doodleplex 23:23, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
No biggie, things don't translate well over here. There's actually many skin pages that require moving, I've been noting them down but I only moved a few ones myself. I haven't finished that wardrobe tool of mine yet, but there's plenty red links there if you peek around. I can give you a full list when I finish, though I don't know if I'll have time for it next week, I only wanted to clean the broken stuff and I pretty much remade the whole thing, time flies by lmao.--Lon-ami (talk) 00:33, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
I too would like to stick to keeping mainspace templates out of userspace (properties aswell). I appreciate that you keep a history of skins and look for pages that can drop the '(skin)' suffix. —Kvothe (talk) 00:56, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
I've changed the way my templates work, so I no longer need any properties, meaning I don't need the skin infobox anymore, so I swapped everything back to user skin infobox.
Guess the discussion is settled then!--Lon-ami (talk) 00:15, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for reworking your userspace, I have deleted the remaining pages. —Kvothe (talk) 12:09, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
I expected properties to be more important than what they were in the end, but I don't mix main space and user space content anymore, so the current setup works better, specially with red links.
I'm still tagging inaccurate articles and redundant images, if I ever need them back I'll ask for a restore. Sorry for all the delete requests lol.--Lon-ami (talk) 21:13, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

Ectoplasmic Stone weapons

What do you mean these don't exist? They are ingame, they haven't been discovered yet. Their recipes are probably disabled until they're released through one of those Mystic Forge secrets events, or maybe they just use a secret recipe that hasn't been found yet.

For reference, these are the weapon skins:

 • Paleolith (skin)
 • Ruyi (skin)
 • Vulture's Steel (skin)
 • Fucales (skin)
 • Turai's Shield (skin)
 • Repellant (skin)
 • Water Dancer (skin)
 • Deadliest Game (skin)
 • The Forest King (skin)

Hard disagree on the deletion, specially when we have things such as Paper-Bag Helm 4-Pack which have been sitting around for years.--Lon-ami (talk) 11:20, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Those paper-bag helms should be deleted as well, unless Anet has given their consent. It's up to them to decide if/when their intellectual property gets released, not us. Greener (talk) 17:47, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Well, if paper bags are wrong too, then nothing to argue there, time to nuke all of them.
Still, delay the deletion of these pages until the above discussion is over, depending on the result there I might want the skin pages moved to my user space (chat codes removed, of course).--Lon-ami (talk) 18:03, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
I'd argue paper bag helms were discussed on reddit by an ArenaNet dev which is good enough to retain those 4 (per Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Projects/Unimplemented content/list) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:01, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Fair point. Greener (talk) 20:35, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
So if I make a reddit post and get ArenaNet's attention then the whole thing changes? That's kinda dumb, I'd go for an all or nothing.
Anyway, the nine skins we're dealing with don't show in the wardrobe until unlocked, but the screenshots were taken ingame, outside the preview window. I don't know the details, but I recall some people have access to some kind of test server where they have the whole wardrobe unlocked, which means these weapons are legit in some form, else we wouldn't have any screenshots in the first place. In fact, more legit than the paper bags or even the School Uniform, which don't have any screenshots outside the preview window, and are 100% datamined chat codes with no "live" items connected to them.--Lon-ami (talk) 22:16, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Things deleted can always be restored, so if they pop up in game, easy to restore the pages. The items I tagged yesterday(I have no idea about Repellant), haven't had any updates in quite a while, and as the pages are mostly speculation, it's better for now for them to not exist until they appear in game as a result. - Doodleplex 23:19, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
As long as you don't delete the icons and the screenshots too, fine with me, since I might use those for documentation purposes. Still not sure if I'll keep them around or not, I don't like to classify weapon skins that don't actually appear ingame in any form, so I might remove them altogether if I don't find any solid ingame references. As far as I know, only Turai's Shield appears ingame.
Repellant is some sort of tiki torch, guess the page wasn't complete enough, leading to its deletion. Here's one of that_shaman's datamining posts referencing them, it only includes chat codes for the skins though, chat codes for the items exist (that's where the names come from) but I couldn't find them at the moment.--Lon-ami (talk) 00:47, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
I saw you deleted the item pages, do you plan to delete the skins pages as well, or we'll keep those around? I updated the links above for reference. If you plan to keep them around, restore Repellant (skin). If you plan to delete them, don't delete the icons and screenshots (I'd use them on my user space, and pointless to reupload them).--Lon-ami (talk) 12:43, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I didn't delete the items, Kvothe did. I was told that the skins exist in the wardrobe, they can stay as long as that is true, but if it's not they should go too. The skin page you want was deleted because it was spam("basically, this page isn't set up yet come back when you love jojo's bizarre adventure"), not an actual skin page, so I'm not restoring spam. - Doodleplex 01:53, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

Oh well, thought it had some real information. I gave it the same treatment as the others. As far as I know they're all in the wardrobe, whoever has access to the test server should check that out, and if it's not true, delete the pages until they're officially released. Aside from Turai's Shield (worn by Turai ingame) the others aren't present anywhere I've seen, so I don't plan to replicate them in my user space.--Lon-ami (talk) 13:10, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
I'm definitely dropping any mention of these from my user space, so feel free to do with them whatever you want. If they ever appear ingame but still remain unobtainable (like wielded by NPCs or used as the skin of a bundle), then I will replicate them; but until then, they're none of my business.--Lon-ami (talk) 00:19, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

So the SAB block symbol affair result.

I made a reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/jz1q9u/does_anyone_has_any_idea_what_that_symbol_means/ Where someone nicely answered me. The symbol is on a gravestone, it is ? in new krytan. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/New_Krytan could be updated with that symbol. I think we know about ! in krytan as well, shown on the image on the page itself, ! is !. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:2010_August_New_Krytan_menu.png. And could be added to the translation chart too. So yup starting point, the asuran script can't be completed further. Gonna continue investigating. You welcome. --Inquest Overseer Ezrielia (talk) 11:23, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Icon

Then take a look at Forged Sentry (Night of Fires). And there are many more using diferent icon on minimap and overhead icon --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 08:46, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Your example explicitly states "The overhead icon changes when the Sentry is alert of intruders' presence." - so both icons are overhead icons. —Kvothe (talk) 10:28, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
On the topic of npc vs object infobox:
npc icon - Optional. Only include if the NPC has a unique icon. If no value is set the icon defaults to showing an icon chosen by the service parameter. If that too is unspecified, the icon is hidden.
object icon - Optional. Map icon of object.
The current NPC description makes no difference for the map/overhead icon and objects merely mentions map icon.
In my opinion the unique icon should be in the infobox. In case of Ebon Vanguard Banner is the map icon part of the event? —Kvothe (talk) 10:53, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
Might be part of ally support event, if it is an event. Im in work for 6 more hours so cant test myself right now--DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 11:19, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
In general, or that I've seen anyway, the icon used in infoboxes is 99% of the time is the overhead icon, and not usually the map icon, unless it's a resource node. The little orange flag icon is seen during the event on the map, I've actually a map of it. However, as I'm not sure if the banners are in the same place all the time, I haven't put the map up yet, and I only have it for Gendarran Fieldss. - Doodleplex 15:25, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
You can easily do Fields of Ruins solo for the boss achievement. If you pay for the Ebon Vanguard and just wait/skip the first event, you should be able to see it easily . Takes just 5 min or so ;) --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 17:58, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Did ANet name a cat after you?

For the 2021 April Fool's day stuff. --161.142.162.27 23:35, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Yes, but let me explain how: Back in November, Joe Kimmes said that if somebody donated towards his Extra Life goal donation(thingy) of around $30 US, they would get a NPC cat named after themselves for April Fools. So I donated $30 towards the cause, and as you can see, I now have a cat. =) - Doodleplex 00:04, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
What just happend ? New update with new NPCs. That means we need to add those NPCs on wiki. I had finaly time so I went over them. Took me over 3-4h to find them all and yet we still dont know where Lanatana is in the cities. The coordinates were there for people to find it easier, no idea why it was deleted. Also I dont know if they are "temporary" when now you can buy those tonics/accessory at merchant. No idea why this status is been added to just some of those cats. Also "Deleted" because of "Vandalism". Im sorry if you didnt wanted that, I wasnt awre that making a page for NPC would be vandalism. Then you made that page yourself anyway ? I .. dont see logic in that but alright. I knew you would wanted to kill me after you were the only "kitten" insted of a cat like others. But I wasnt expecting this. Im scared =( --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 02:47, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Except for the four cats that are only in Eye of the North, the rest of the cats are in two locations. So no they can't have coordinates as they're in two places. They're meant to be temporary, ArenaNet staffer Joe Kimmes said so in the Twitch stream which is linked in the vod, unless something changes, they should be all marked as temporary for now. And it was asked to not create that page so I could; being rude = vandalism. - Doodleplex 03:54, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
4 cats ? We have found all of them expect 1 and I bet its hidding somewhere, we just dont know where. Also we didnt knew it was reserved. Sorry =( --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 04:48, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't know the other cats were found. Yeah, if they're in two spots, they can't have an coordinates. And it's fine. - Doodleplex 05:15, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Brown Dyes missing in Unidentified Dyes template

I might be telling the wrong person, but I'm still learning how to wiki and your name was the only one I saw under the history. On Template:Unidentified_Dye_nav, there aren't links to the unidentified brown dyes. I didn't want to edit a template and end up breaking something, so thought you'd be the best person to notify. Gammler (talk) 16:17, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

You could probably post your comment on any talk page on the wiki, and the community would still see it via Special:RecentChanges. Usually the best place is the talk page of the affected article, e.g. Template talk:Unidentified Dye nav.
I have in any case edited the template to add brown in. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:22, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Timeline page 1322 AE

I have enough. Please do something. Let my 1313 AE Inquest event in timeline alone. I have enough of peoples removing it. It doesn't bother anything, isn't a major spoil or anything. It just indicate that there is a facility here. If not, then remove 1175 AE rata arcanum and also rata novus! Can't this page be locked? If it is the citation needed, I already provided it, will not keep doing it. It is from central console in royal chamber in the first city story step. It is indicated the number of days since the energy core have been operated. There is also the time from the story step journal. I agree it isn't as major as some other things, but it is hard to understand in everyone head to let that line alone?

Also here was the reply of the users who removed it: "Your additions to Timeline

I'm afraid i have to agree with the IP's removal of the creation of Rata Primus. I'd go even further and remove the facility in Fahranur too. For the Fahranur facility there's an earlier reference on an inquest terminal stating, quoting the dialogue on the aricle, "Your package was unable to be delivered. Last attempted delivery was—seventeen years, eight months, and nine days—ago." indicating there had been an outage or some kind of disruption of the core. There is also nothing preventing the facility to have existed before these dates. They only give the earliest date we can tell that the facility existed but that doesn't mean that it was built exactly then too. And while i didn't easily see any earlier reference for Rata Primus than the 87 days, the same holds true for it. Only because we can tell the earliest it existed seems to have been then, that doesn't prevent it from having existed already before that. Based on this, i'll remove both entries; provided you don't have any good arguments against me doing so. Nightsky (talk) 20:57, 27 June 2021 (UTC) "

I don't agree, having a date is better than nothing, and NOTHING prevent me to add an entry that a facility poer in farhnur have been operated since a certain year. Or that a lab recording have been operated since a certain number of days making the complex having aproximatively the same age. I will just edit farahnur event to be 17 years ago.

Edit the wiki skin?

I'm very blinded by the wiki's available skins; How would I go about changing them from my preferences to some kind of Dark Mode? The preceding unsigned comment was added by MaxJacobusVoid (talk) at 01:23, 9 November 2022‎ (UTC).

Hello! I actually don't use it so, I had to ask somebody else. I was told that "I think it involves going to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering and choosing the vector skin". That should do the trick. If it doesn't, I suggest asking Chieftain Alex, he would know more than I do. - Doodleplex 02:05, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

RE: gw2fortune.com

Hey Doodleplex,

What would it take to get gw2fortune.com as an item link on all of the trading post item pages (like gw2bltc.com and gw2efficiency.com)? Who would I talk to about making this request?

Sincerely, RebornGeek

Screenshot Process

Hey Doodle! I realised recently that as the owner of a bajillion skins in game I'm in a good position to help with making sure we have in-game character screenshots of different weapon/armour skins for the wiki. I made my best attempt at some, but some don't look nearly as crisp and clear as yours do - I wondered if you could share your process so I can improve the quality of my contributions? Thanks! Apotheotic (talk) 14:05, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello! It's likely the 4th thing here. Google says I have pretty powerful graphics card, plus I have an ultrawide monitor which I set to be vertical, then crank all the in game settings up to the max. Not sure if that's helpful, but that's likely why mine come out the way they do. - Doodleplex 14:43, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Ah, I was missing everything except the vertical ultrawide - that's genius! Thanks for your response Apotheotic (talk) 17:38, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Please stop compressing my images

The wiki already serves compressed versions of images to users, so compressing the original image is a pointless endeavour. If people want to access the full quality image, they should be free to do that. Besides, the wiki tells you the size of the original image before you click to view it, so if you don't want to download a large file, then don't click on it. I don't understand why this restriction is now suddenly decided when it was never a problem in the past. If you want this to be an official rule, fine then, change the file upload page to reject JPG files above whatever size threshold you want, but it seems like you are arbitrarily choosing files and saying "this one is too big" Mattt (talk) 02:10, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

I opened several of them and they lagged so badly I had to refresh the page. And it's not just yours there are others too, such as maps and images that are pngs that need to be converted. In regards to restricting image size, that's something I don't think even the bureaucrats can do. And cropping/making files more user friendly is something I've done since I started way back when, this is nothing recent. - Doodleplex 04:25, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
I'm sorry if your computer/internet connection cannot handle large files but I don't think that's a good enough reason to deny everyone access to the full quality version of the image. If you believe JPG files should not exceed a specific size threshold, that's fine, but I believe it should be an official rule that is enforced on *all* images, instead of arbitrarily choosing specific images because they are "too big" by your personal standards. It is definitely feasible to set file size limits for user uploads based on file format or "mime type" on the server-side. In the meantime, please pause compressing my images and, if you don't want to download a large file, then don't click to view the full size image. Mattt (talk) 07:59, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Please excuse my OCD. I understand this is nothing personal. I am just frustrated because I don't find any formal rules/standards/guidelines about file sizes here on the wiki. Alex told me it's not practical to change the server settings for uploads because it's "a pain in the butt to organise changes for" so if you don't mind, I would like to discuss having some formal guidelines about file sizes for future reference. Then I can have a clear definition of "too big" and I can compress my files appropriately before uploading them and save you the trouble of doing it. Sorry for being a dick lol Mattt (talk) 11:29, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Aye nothing personal, I probably need to hardwire the computer to the router, but my wireless is usually amazing unless Steam is downloading something. I was honestly surprised that it was having issues in the first place, but then I went and found a few other large images(not of yours) and saw similar issues. So based on my file poking from yesterday, here's the number: no bigger than 1.5 MB for pictures of NPCs and 1 MB for objects. Also what type of Ultra wide monitor do you have, seems to be a bit bigger than mine or I have some settings to change. - Doodleplex 13:51, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks! Could these image size guidelines be written somewhere to make it "official"? Perhaps on the image formatting page? Or maybe directly on the file upload page with a warning along the lines of "if you upload an image exceeding the advised limit then your image may be compressed to fit within the guidelines". My monitor is ASUS PB287Q (16:9). When I take screenshots of narrow subjects, I switch my screen to portrait mode to capture as much detail as possible. Make sure to maximise your display resolution in your OS settings and, if everything appears tiny, set the display scaling to something above 100% Mattt (talk) 12:35, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
Done. Thanks for the tips, I will be trying them out shortly. Cheers! - Doodleplex 21:59, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
For what it’s worth, I don’t think a limit in bytes is the best idea since the file size largely depends on resolution and the level of detail in the image. However, I would suggest to not export JPEG at a quality of 100. The file size scales incredibly bad at this quality level without a perceivable benefit. This is especially true for screenshots where the source is already not perfect (and already heavily compressed unless you have enabled lossless screenshots).
So I would simply suggest to export at a slightly lower quality level, e.g. 90 which is still a very high quality while greatly reducing the file size. poke | talk 07:22, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Change to Jormag Insight

Hi Doodle, You have changed File:Jormags insight Footfalls.jpg|Ice crystal footfalls. saying you made it more consistant with the other skins. But I had uploaded a footfall for every gen 3 variant with the exact same image size and setup. So basically, you have now made it inconsistant with the other skins. Since the resolution changed AND setup is different from the other 6 gen3 variants. Do you mind changing it back? Note that I purposely added a character to the screenshot to show the footfall of that character in progress.

Kind regards, Luuksch(talk) 09:14, 10 september 2023 (UTC)

Heya, having checked out the other gen3 weapon screenshots (whoa) I'm inclined to agree. I think the blue swoosh effect from the top of the staff is also notable and worth including. Overall file size is still reasonable. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:28, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Ah, apologies, I was used to the gen 1 & 2 footfalls that had nobody in them, and last I checked, I couldn't find anyfootfall pictures of the new ons, so I no issues with changing it back. Cheers! - Doodleplex 13:40, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

Plural redirects

Can I ask why you deleted the Lounges redirect to Lounge? If that is the case, Runes should be deleted, as well as Sigils and other similar pages that would be considered unnecessary. -136.56.168.204 17:55, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

It wasn't useful nor needed. The other two things you linked are linked to by nearly 3,000 pages between them. Lounge only has 161, of that only 42 link have the word/link directly to "Lounge", and from that, only 17 pages have the plural Lounges. Very, very very much not needed. - Doodleplex 22:26, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
