Welcome[edit]
Hi, and welcome to the wiki. Thanks for your contributions and improvements on all those screenshots. Just a note though: a couple of the screenshots you changed were used on multiple NPC pages (see the Shared Model Project and so the screenshot being of a different model changed all of those pages, not just the NPC associated with the filename. - Sorry for my mistake and thanks for informing me. These are my first contributions to the wiki. I have read all the guidelines now and I understand the shared model project. Please let me know which images I screwed up and I will fix it. I found this so I will focus on that next. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mattt (talk) at 12:33, 22 July 2022 (UTC).
- No, don't be sorry, it's fine. It should really have had {{Shared Model Project}} template anyway. Don't feel discouraged; every editor, no matter how experienced, slips up from time to time. 12:49, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- Some NPCs have multiple (random) appearances. In that case we add
| random = y
to the {{NPC infobox}} and just pick one appearance. That means we are at risk by uploading a different model for shared NPC screenshots. On the file page you can check the section "File Usage" if there are multiple NPCs using this model or you can take the straight forward approach and always upload improved images only for the same model that is already used. File:Gianna.jpg is the file in question (used on 7 NPCs), Sunlion reverted to the previous version. - As Sunlion wrote don't be discouraged to edit the wiki by early mistakes. We all have to start somewhere (as evident e.g. User talk:Kvothe/Archive 2020 July). Overall your screenshots are great! If you want really nitpicky feedback - orient the NPCs toward the sun for better lighting conditions.

- Also please mind the cropping, it should be about 50px around the characters, based on Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Image formatting, some of your pics have plenty of empty space. ~Sime 16:49, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oh ok. I have been cropping all of my images to be the same aspect ratio (all of my images are 2:3 which is a common aspect ratio for portraits and photographs) because I thought it would look better. But I will disregard aspect ratio and just crop my images close to the subject if that is preferable. Please let me know if any of my images have particularly egregious margins and I will fix it Mattt (talk) 17:34, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
User space images[edit]
"Thanks, how do I upload to user?"
- There is nothing special about "user space". Just prefix your file with "User Mattt ". You can create a "red" link to a nonexistent file
[[File:User Mattt Supergrown Champion Colossal Mordrem Thrasher.jpg]]
, then preview the page, open the red link in a new tab and upload the desired image. That is how I personally do all my files - I do not use the "Upload file" tool from the side bar. That way you always get the file name you want for the wiki and do not have to care about naming the file beforehand (or can not forget to rename in the upload form). —Kvothe (talk) 16:17, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Special:WantedFiles[edit]
Sunlion suggested I check out your recent screenshots, and I'm impressed! For example, I like the shots you took of Agent Zildi, The Ghost Eater, and many others. Nice work! If you're looking for more leads, Special:WantedFiles is an automated list that might be partially interesting, though perhaps you've found this already, as you've uploaded several images for characters have gone years without screenshots! Also, I run a wiki improvement project called On Wiki of Gold, and many times these articles would benefit from a replacement screenshot if you feel so inclined. -- Dashface 08:10, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hiya! Thanks! I'm gradually working my way through Image update requests and NPCs missing a screenshot in no particular order, plus I am updating any older images I find along the way. I can take a look at wanted files too but I notice there is currently 1957 items so that will take some time. If you want me to screenshot something in particular then I'd be glad to take requests on Discord: Mattt#7551 Mattt (talk) 10:00, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Those guardian skill images though[edit]
They're beautiful! It adds a lot to have shots of those skills since they're so complex/pretty! Wonderful shots!--Rain Spell (talk) 22:21, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
Unused user images[edit]
Just leaving your unused images here. If you are ok with deleting them, tag them as such please. —Kvothe (talk) 10:46, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- yep how to delete images? I dont find an option Mattt (talk) 20:37, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- You have to use the delete template. ~Sime 01:04, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
Bot edits[edit]
Hey there, love the image category organization. However it seems you're using Auto Wiki Browser or some kind of bot to make these edits very fast, enmasse. Would you mind creating a bot account for such edits? Makes it easier for editors to check on the recent change log to see what's going on as bot edits are hidden there. Thanks! - Doodleplex 20:38, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- No sorry I'm making all these edits manually. I don't know anything about wiki bots. Plus I wouldn't trust an automatic process to sort the screenshots into categories correctly - for example this object has nothing to indicate that it is a bottle; I have to look at the picture to see what it is and then move it into the bottle screenshots category.
