Steward Gixx is an asura and the current leader of the Durmand Priory.
Biography[edit]
Early years[edit]
Little is known about Gixx's early years. He was presumably born in Rata Sum, where he studied and eventually graduated from one of the Asuran Colleges, achieving the rank of "Incomparable Genius".[1] Among his many accomplishes, he was twice awarded the "Meritorious Service Medal" of the Iron Legion.[1]
At some point, Gixx joined the Durmand Priory and took the position of Steward, the order's leader. It is unknown how he achieved this rank or who his predecessor was.
Personal story[edit]
A new novice[edit]
In 1325 AE, Steward Gixx personally welcomed a new promising recruit, a novice, in Lion's Arch, introducing himself as leader of the order and briefing them on the Priory's beginnings and goals. He then assigned Magister Sieran to escort the novice to the Durmand Priory, the headquarters of the order, located in Lornar's Pass.
However, Sieran ignored his command and instead took the novice to explore an old darven tomb that had been buried beneath rocks and ice until a recent earthquake unearthed it, fearing the dredge would destroy any dwarven relics inside the cave given their hate for the dwarves. Inside, they rescued a pair of Priory explorers who had been captured by the dredge, and found three relics with dwarven writing which they took back to the Priory.
Although Gixx was angry at Sieran for neglecting her duty, he went easy on her and the novice for having rescued those trapped explorers he had sent on an expedition mission to the tomb, and he translated the dwarven texts on the relics. With the evidence gathered from the relics, he correctly guessed that the dredge had stolen an ancient weapon, the Sanguinary Blade, a legendary sword made of Jormag's frozen blood and which had been lost when the Stone Summit dwarves banished. He tasked Sieran and the novice with returning the blade safely to the Priory. The pair chased the dredge to Dagnar Stonepate's tomb, but the Sons of Svanir arrived first and stole the sword from the dredge. For their failure and prior unsanctioned adventuring, Gixx put both Sieran and the novice on probation. The pair then secured a scabbard to contain the sword's corrupting power, defeated the Sons, and took the sword back to the Priory. For their victory, Gixx promoted the novice to the rank of explorer and set the pair on a new mission to research one of the lesser races of Tyria. Sieran and the explorer helped one such race in their struggle for survival against the Elder Dragons, and a few members of that race pledged their aid to the Durmand Priory once they took the fight to the dragons. For their success, Steward Gix promoted the explorer to the rank of magister, the Priory's highest active rank.
Claw Island[edit]
Janthir Wilds[edit]
In 1337 AE, Steward Gixx attended a Tyrian Alliance meeting regarding the discovery of the titan Greer, the Blightbringer in Lowland Shore, representing the Pact. While speaking with the Commander, he expressed interest in the Astral Ward and explained that he had been in contact with a dwarf member of the ward named Lyhr already, and had arranged a visit to the Astral Ward's library with him.
During this visit, the Steward inquired with Lyhr about the Foundry of Failed Creations, the source of the titans, suggesting that the titans could continue to be forged for as long as the soul flame at the bottom of the foundry was lit. He later received a letter back from Lyhr, who had spoken with Isgarren to confirm Gixx's theory.[2] He also received an invitation from Councillor Ludo to send some of his scholars to Janthir, preferably those who were experts in titan lore.[3] |
