Walkthrough[edit]

Return to Harvest Den.

Head to Waypoint (map icon).png Harvest Den Waypoint and enter the instance near the entrance to the village.

Greet Poised Arrow.

Meet Poised Arrow nearby and let the conversation happen. He'll mention the alliance representatives aren't participating in the festivities.

Meet with your allies.

Walk up to your allies by entering the green circle on your minimap. This will trigger a new conversation.

Introduce your allies to the lowland council

First, walk up and talk to Queen Jennah. You will be prompted to introduce her to Fading Aurora who Jennah and Anise know to be Waiting Sorrow.
Next, Talk to Firstborn Dagonet and lead him to Soaring Crest.
Finally, lead Countess Anise to Barbed Vale

Head to the sparring area.

After introducing Anise to Barbed Vale, the kodan will encourage you to spar with Barbed Vale. Head to the area marked by a star to trigger the next step.

Spar with Barbed Vale.

Fight with Vale until her health reaches about 50%, then the fight stops. Barbed Vale has a lot of AoE attacks which often will stun you. Dodging out of those, or bringing stability, or blocks will help a lot.

Perform Different Dances to Encourage Others to Join

Enter the circle around the fire and use skills 6 through 0 to encourage others to dance. A total of five dance moves are required to fill the progress bar.

Find Stoic Alder

Head north and traverse the building to find Stoic Alder on the terrace.

Listen to the speeches.

Listen as Stoic Alder starts speaking.

Endure Isgarren's "motivational" speech.

Continue listening as Isgarren makes his speech.

Listen as Stoic Alder inspires the group.

Continue listening to Stoic Alder.

Regroup with your allies.

Walk back west to the edge of the terrace and listen to your allies once more until the story completes.

Dialogue[edit]

Harvest Den[edit]

Meet Poised Arrow
Poised Arrow: Wayfinder, I see you got Paw's invitation! Between us, he gets a bit sappy 'bout that sort of thing.
Poised Arrow: Though I s'pose the battle's eve feast isn't exactly a joyous occasion... More of a precautionary good-bye...
Poised Arrow: But dwell, we shan't. Still plenty of fun to be had. Although your alliance pals look to be having none of it.
<Character name>: Aside from me, Caithe, and Malice, they don't know the lowlanders very well yet.
Poised Arrow: Shall I introduce them? Pressure them to mingle? If all else fails, some honey wine should do the trick.
<Character name>: Appreciated. But you just enjoy the festivities. I'll see if I can loosen them up.
Meet with your allies
<Character name>: Seems like you don't know what to do with yourselves.
Queen Jennah: After decades of leaving bonds with the lowlanders untended...it appears I have my work cut out for me.
Countess Anise: This place is a bit rougher around the edges than Her majesty's royal court. Although I don't mind the change of pace.
Caithe: The lowlanders may look intimidating, but appearances can be deceiving. And they could say the same about some of us.
Isgarren: (grumbles)
<Character name>: How about I introduce you to a few of the council members? Might help break the ice.
Introduce Queen Jennah to "Fading Aurora"
<Character name>: For starters: Queen Jennah, there's someone you might like to meet.
Queen Jennah: Oh?
Queen Jennah: And Fading Aurora is the name we'll be sticking with, correct?
<Character name>: Ah, I suppose Anise was present for...the grand reveal.
Queen Jennah: Based on Anise's recollection, "grand" is certainly one way of putting it.
<Character name>: Aurora. I'd like you to meet a colleague and friend of mine. Queen Jennah of Kryta.
Waiting Sorrow: Your Majesty. Well, this is an honor.
Queen Jennah: Likewise, Fading Aurora. I've heard much about the town's healing master. All of it impressive.
Introduce Dagonet to Soaring Crest
<Character name>: Dagonet. I know someone you'll have plenty to chat about with.
Firstborn Dagonet: I'm eager to make their acquaintance.
<Character name>: Dagonet, meet Soaring Crest, Agroculture Master. Expert in Janthir's ecosystem and plant life.
Soaring Crest: Most things. I've still much to learn of your people.
Firstborn Dagonet: Then we're one and the same. Let's fix that.
Introduce Countess Anise to Barbed Vale
<Character name>: And finally, Anise. I know just the person for you.
Countess Anise: About time! The suspense was killing me.
<Character name>: Countess, meet Barbed Vale, Spear Master. I pity any who find themselves on the wrong end of her spear.
Countess Anise: Are you speaking from experience, Commander?
Barbed Vale: (laughs)
Kodan Landspeaker: The sparring match is soon to start. Who dares face our Spear Master in this test of might?
Loving Orchid: How about you? Think you could take Barbed Vale one-on-one?
Barbed Vale: Apologies. The eve before battle leaves them restless. Sparks nerves. They hide them with spears and boasting.
Countess Anise: Ha! I don't know that I'd be the best sparring partner. But I think I have just the match. Commander.
Malice Swordshadow: Go get 'em, Commander!
Queen Jennah: I often hear of your battles, but it's rare I have the opportunity to spectate.
Caithe: You show them, Commander!
<Character name>: How can I ever repay you for this, Anise?
Head to the sparring area
Barbed Vale Ready, Wayfinder?
Talk quest option tango.png I'm ready. Don't go easy on me, yeah?
Talk end option tango.png Actually, give me a second.
Spar with Barbed Vale
Caithe: Mind your footing!
Malice Swordshadow: Damn!
Isgarren: Ha!
Dancing Bard: Yay, Wayfinder!
Dagda: Watch your stance!
Queen Jennah: Keep it together!
Countess Anise: Woo!
Surging Tide: That's it!
Surging Tide: Wide open!
Surging Tide: Yeah, Barbed Vale!
Steely Dawn: Yeah, Vale!
Steely Dawn: Strike! Now!
Steely Dawn: Get 'em, Spear Master!
Barbed Vale: Exceptional, Wayfinder. Few face me one-on-one and live to boast. You've earned that right. And my respect.
Barbed Vale: The strangers should fear the fate that tomorrow promises them.
Poised Arrow: Deft work out there, Wayfinder. Nothing like sparring to shake the prebattle jitters.
Poised Arrow: Me, I'd rather dance them away. The eve of battle always wreaks havoc on my nerves.
<Character name>: Well, battle is plenty of cause for nervousness. If you stop feeling nervous, that's when you should be concerned.
Poised Arrow: Wise you are, Wayfinder. Speaking of calming the nerves, the Rite of the Warrior dance is starting up.
Poised Arrow: Join the dance circle. Make the others jealous with your swanlike moves!
Keeper of the Groove: The Rite of the Warrior dance commences! Who shall be first to thaw our dance circle?
Keeper of the Groove: Perhaps a visitor? Wayfinder, you impress us with your sparring moves. Have you the dance moves to match?
Poised Arrow: You bet the wayfinder does! Don't fret; I'll join you.
Perform Different Dances to Encourage Others to Join
Keeper of the Groove: Gather 'round; fan our flames! Think of them as a warrior's life-fire burning bright. In battle and in peace.
Keeper of the Groove: That's it! A dance on battle's eve loosens muscles and inhibitions! A fine tradition.
Keeper of the Groove: Draw your bearkin near. Whether you set off to battle or stay back to hold down the fort, we dance in camaraderie!
Keeper of the Groove: Yes! Fear not tomorrow, no! Hold dear tonight! Dance, DANCE!
Keeper of the Groove: What a crowd! Let ashmakers tell of this battle's eve for ages to come! Thank you. Thank you all!
Find Stoic Alder
Stoic Alder: Gathered here, we are, to remember— No, no—makes it sound like a funeral pyre...
Stoic Alder: Wayfinder.
<Character name>: They'll appreciate the message, whatever wording you settle on.
Stoic Alder: Your assurance is appreciated, although I wish the message were one I needn't deliver.
<Character name>: I understand.
Stoic Alder: Never gets easier. Although, truth be told...I wouldn't want it to.
Listen to the speeches.
Stoic Alder: I've some prepared remarks. Keep them brief, I shall. Lest the rumble of your stomachs drown out my words.
Stoic Alder: But first, I shall offer the floor to our visitors. If you've your own words to air, please, come forth.
Isgarren: I didn't come with a prepared speech, but as the leader of the Astral Ward and a vanguard of the Tyrian Alliance...
Countess Anise: Huh. Now he's a "vanguard"? What happened to "the triviality of Tyrian politics"?
Isgarren: I'm sure the muse will strike.
Endure Isgarren's "motivational" speech.
Isgarren: The foes before us may seem marvels, born of worlds unknown. Let me assure you, they are nothing new.
Isgarren: Past millennia watched the titans rise to power, only to be buried by history's indifferent debris.
Isgarren: Tomorrow, we shall damn them to that same insignificant fate.
Isgarren: Will they appear again in a future distance from our own? Who knows. Instead, we must remember life's true constant...
Isgarren: The struggle for survival. Incessant. Ruthless. Natural. It is that very force your tribe reveres—that powers life.
Isgarren: So fear not these crude beasts. No. Fear repose! Fear a life so catatonic it makes risking death feel like living!
Isgarren: I find it all rather freeing, don't you?
Dagda: For a minute there, I thought he had it. But then he kept talking...
Waiting Sorrow: Still not the worst pep talk he's given...
Listen as Stoic Alder inspires the group
Stoic Alder: Our guest's speech may seem disquieting. As is war. A thief of solace, and—most cruelly—hope.
Stoic Alder: Far too many of us know this firsthand. So, I share with you a poem from moons long past.
Stoic Alder: It has seen me to brighter shores. May it do you that same kindness.
Stoic Alder: "As we march toward peril's hearth, our kinfolk at our sides..."
Stoic Alder: "Each step, perhaps, could be our last—or first, toward kinder skies..."
Stoic Alder: "Our spears we'll don, and fight 'til dawn, to guard the ground we've stood..."
Stoic Alder: "But won't have won 'til battle's done, and stays that way for good."
Stoic Alder: "And stays that way for good." That sentiment, I find freeing.
Stoic Alder: Until we see such times, we march, bearkin and allied friends, to guard our grounds against a foe most wicked.
Stoic Alder: What they have in strength, they lack in respect for one another. We have both. And some damn good spears.
Regroup with your allies
Waiting Sorrow: That was a very compelling speech, Alder.
Stoic Alder: They always seem to come together at the last moment.
Stoic Alder: Still...tomorrow comes too soon.
<Character name>: We've prepared. Tested out plan of attack. Celebrated the many reasons for living. It's time.
Stoic Alder: Suppose it is, Wayfinder. But for now, the eve is young, and the festivities beckon.
Stoic Alder: I do advise you all to get a good night's rest.
Stoic Alder: Tomorrow...we rise.

Life of the Party[edit]

Talking to Stoic Alder and Poised Arrow
Stoic Alder: Poky. A moment.
Poised Arrow: Oh. Maw's arrow? Thought she took it with her...
Stoic Alder: As did I. You know, one reason holding this feast was so important to me...
Stoic Alder: ...is that I couldn't give your maw a proper send-off. I never even got the chance to tell her good-bye...
Stoic Alder: And damned if I was going to let that happen again.
Poised Arrow: Paw...
Stoic Alder: Your maw's intent was always to make you this arrow's keeper. She had wanted to wait 'til you were grown.
Stoic Alder: And grown, you have. From a cub adrift in daydreams to a warrior who's braved life's cruel realities far too soon.
Stoic Alder: Wear this as a reminder that your maw and I are forever at your heart.
Poised Arrow: (chokes up)
Poised Arrow: Soar, my Arrow.
Talking to Dagda and Waiting Sorrow
Dagda: A perfect spot. He'll never find us up here. Now, tell me more about them...
Waiting Sorrow: For starters, I'm thankful they still want anything to do with me. I've put them through enough for a lifetime.
Dagda: Well, good to get your baggage out of the way early.
Waiting Sorrow: Ald is...doing the best he can, given the situation. He's opening up again. Slowly. Patience is the least I can give him.
Waiting Sorrow: And I'm downright impressed with Poky. He's been through so much. But instead of running, he faces things head-on.
Waiting Sorrow: I could learn from him. My legacy is running from things I need to face...
Dagda: There's far more to your legacy than that. After his ascension, I became fast friends with Lyhr—a son of Deldrimor.
Dagda: He reminds me much of you. His views on magic, the dualities of creation and destruction, and logic and emotion.
Dagda: I spoke of you often to him; shared your writings. And he eventually came to form the Bastion of Balance in your memory.
Dagda: It was then that I finally accepted that even though you were gone, your teachings would live on.
Dagda: Forgive me if I overshared with him. With you gone, I feared the worst. I guess it was a way to feel close to you again.
Waiting Sorrow: I abandon you, and you honor me. I don't deserve you.
Dagda: But now you're here, and I am more whole for it, my dearest friend.
Talking to Isgarren
<Character name>: Don't tell me you're afraid to dance, Isgarren?
Isgarren: Afraid? Ha. I just find no comfort in the senseless flailing of limbs.
<Character name>: I know. You need a partner.
Isgarren: I'll pass. I'm flattered. Truly. But I can partake from here while remaining still and dignified.
<Character name>: Oh, how rude of me. The seers didn't have dancing, did they? It's just... I always thought you were the graceful sort.
Isgarren: Of course we had dancing! It's not like it's chronomancy! You just set your feet...sway your hips in time to the rhythm...
Isgarren: I know what you're trying to do, and it won't work.
<Character name>: All right! All right, you win. Honestly? I wish Mabon was here. Anise tells me he was the life of the party.
Isgarren: He was a patron of many festivities over the years. A shame you only knew him in his direst moments.
<Character name>: One dance, then. For Mabon?
Isgarren: Fine... I will humor your childish whims. And then you will leave me be.

My Story[edit]

Battle's Eve loading screen.png

With the battle on the horizon, I received an invitation from Stoic Alder to join in a celebration known as a battle's eve feast, a lowlander tradition. The celebration is described as a "precautionary good-bye," though the general mood was much more upbeat than the description might suggest.

Upon arriving at the feast, I met Poky, along with several allies from the Astral Ward and the Tyrian Alliance. The initial atmosphere was ... unenthusiastic, through no fault of the lowlanders. Despite their varying experiences as diplomats and leaders, the alliance and the ward found themselves being overly cautious. Perhaps it was the upcoming battle, or maybe guilt that past bond hadn't been maintained with the bearkin—either way, I took it upon myself to set things in motion.

I began by introducing Queen Jennah, Dagonet, and Anise to some of the lowland council members I'd become acquainted with. Jennah and Waiting Sorrow, still operating under her Fading Aurora alias, obviously had much to discuss and wasted no time delving into conversation. Dagonet and Agriculture Master Soaring Crest hit it off right away with talk of environment and ecology. And as for Anise and Barbed Vale, well, you could mistake the two for old friends if you didn't know better.

The party continued to gain momentum as the predinner activities commenced. Anise "kindly" volunteered me for a friendly sparring match against Barbed Vale, a gesture I plan to repay her for in time. At the risk of looking a bit silly, I also helped kick off the dance circle by showing off a few moves. My display encouraged several of the guests to cut loose and enjoy the moment despite the daunting mission ahead of us.

Afterward, I caught Stoic Alder alone, practicing for a speech. Guests began to gather, and the bearkin's leader offered our alliance a moment for opening remarks. Isgarren took the opportunity to say some words of ... encouragement? I can say with some experience that speeches are no easy thing. Isgarren seemed a bit off his game, causing some confusion among the lowlanders and alliance members alike.

Fortunately, Stoic Alder restored the mood by delivering a rousing speech of his own. To the backdrop of music and celebration, our allies took a moment to step aside from the festivities. Few words were said, but an unspoken understanding of the feat that lies ahead of us held strong.
