Walkthrough[edit]

Talk with Sabinus Reignfire, and he will direct you to assist some other charr in the Iron Marches. Talk to each charr, and as you complete the indicated dynamic event, the quest will update directing you to another charr. Once you have spoken to all the charr and participated in their events, return to Sabinus for a summary. Finally, you'll receive an email from Taimi. Read it to complete this chapter.

You need to complete the events in the order listed above.

If you feel you are having issues with the first husk, with the flamethrowers, note that he gets to 75% then becomes invulnerable. Even the flamethrowers do not damage him. It seems to run out a timer, as you keep killing vines that pop up. You'll then be directed to the next location. At that one, kill mordrem to get the "spore buff" - a white symbol appears above you and the downed mordrem - once you have the buff, run up to the "sample root" to collect a sample. Fill the bar with samples to complete that section of the chain. After speaking with the final NPC who directs you to kill the Veteran Mordrem Wolf, he does not actively direct you and a green star does not appear. Look for the orange circle and the event that pops up, instead. The wolf will be stalking down the road. He is tougher than the average veteran and may require more than one player.

Dialogue[edit]

Speaking to Sabinus Reignfire:

Sabinus Reignfire: You don't wanna go out there. Vicious plants are sprouting up everywhere! We're doing our best to hold them off, but it's not enough.
Talk quest option tango.png I'm here to help.
Great, we need it. Find the soldiers tasked with exterminating these things, and help them where possible.
Talk quest option tango.png Can do.
I just spoke with Aelius Rendblood, and she's in deep. Start there. Once you overcome the creatures in her area—and I know you will—she'll direct you to the next soldier who needs backup.
Talk quest option tango.png I'm on my way.
Talk end option tango.png I will.

Speaking to Sabinus Reignfire again:

Sabinus Reignfire: Great timing! I was just about to do some weeding. These critters need a good punch in the petals, if you ask me.
Talk end option tango.png I've got this.

Speaking to Aelius Rendblood:

Aelius Rendblood: Quit your gawking. Those vines'll be back before you know it, and you best be prepared.
Talk quest option tango.png I'm ready! (triggers event)
Talk end option tango.png I need a moment.

Speaking to Aelius after completing event:

Aelius Rendblood: So I heard that thing was a Mordrem. Now I understand why everyone's scrambling for samples. Hey, Brutus Rendflesh is collecting samples nearby. I'd get in on that if I were you.
Talk quest option tango.png Hmm, maybe he'll let me keep a sample.

Speaking to Brutus Rendflesh:

Brutus Rendflesh: Stay sharp. Those creatures could be back at any moment.
Talk quest option tango.png I've been informed. How can I help?
We need vine samples, but the Mordrem are extremely hostile. Coat yourself with their spores, and they'll leave you alone just long enough to get the job done.
Talk end option tango.png No problem. (triggers event)
Talk more option tango.png What creatures?
Plants with teeth. Don't know anything about them, but they're popping up everywhere. Same with those prisonlike vine formations.
Talk quest option tango.png Sounds like Mordrem. I'm here to help.
Talk more option tango.png Can't you just kill the vines?
Negative. We need live vine samples, so camouflage yourself with their spores or you'll never get close enough. It's only temporary, so move fast.
Talk quest option tango.png Got it. I'll help you out. (Same as "I've been informed. How can I help?")
Talk end option tango.png All right. See you later.
Talk end option tango.png I see. Good luck.
Talk end option tango.png Then I'm outta here.

Speaking to the Ash Legion Scout before Brutus:

Ash Legion Scout: Stay sharp. Those creatures could be back at any moment.
Talk quest option tango.png Will do. (triggers event)

Speaking to Brutus after completing event:

Brutus Rendflesh: You've got a talent for this. Listen, Taccius Stormbane is having similar plant problems up north. Might be worth your while to help him out.
Talk quest option tango.png Will do.

Speaking to Taccius Stormbane:

If Rescue the captured workers is inactive:
Taccius Stormbane: Yup. Any minute now. Aaaany minute now. Those vines will show up, my workers will attack them, and then they'll end up a tangled mess.
Talk quest option tango.png Whoa. Let's not let that happen.
I'm with you. The legions are trying to identify these plants' weakness. Get me some vine samples, and maybe my workers won't end up as plant food.
Talk end option tango.png Easy.
Talk more option tango.png This happens frequently, I take it.
We're operating under the legions' command. Sometimes I swear they don't read my reports. I keep telling 'em the vines are too strong for my workforce. But orders are orders.
Talk quest option tango.png Whatever happens, I'm here to help. (triggers event)
Talk end option tango.png Bummer.
Talk end option tango.png Huh. Good luck with that.
Otherwise:
You've gotta help my workers. They're wrapped up in those vines over there!
Talk quest option tango.png On my way!
Talk end option tango.png Not now.

Speaking to Taccius after completing event:

Taccius Stormbane: You really saved our tails, <Character name>. But I just heard another one of these creatures is rampaging south of here. Scout Rendfire can help you pinpoint the beast's location if you're up for it.
Talk quest option tango.png Sounds fun.

Still looking for Samples?

'Preciate all your help collecting those plant—er, Mordrem samples. Aelius mentioned you were looking for one of your own. I just sent the Legions the batch we collected, but one sample didn't make it. It's yours. Looks like a seed of some sort. Maybe you can grow it and see what happens.

Speaking to Scout Rendfire:

If Veteran Mordrem Wolf is dead:
Took yer time, did ya? We managed to take out the wolf monster. Doubt it's gone for good, though. Keep your eyes peeled.
Talk quest option tango.png Doubt I'll miss a giant green wolf. (triggers event)
Talk end option tango.png I'll come back later.
Otherwise:
Thank my hairy back you got here in time. We've spotted a—eh, how do I put this? A walking wolf weed...of sorts. Big, nasty thing. Packs quite a bite for a shrub.
Talk quest option tango.png Show me where it's at, and I'll take it out.
Talk end option tango.png I hate big, nasty things. 'Bye.

Speaking to Sabinus after assisting all four charr:

Sabinus Reignfire: Heard you gave them a thrashing, soldier. That should keep the area quiet for a while. Give me a report.
Talk quest option tango.png Eradicating those things will take an army.
Just how I like my vegetation—dead. Thanks for all of your help. Here's an extra plant sample Brutus Rendflesh gave me. I don't need it.
Talk quest option tango.png Thanks.

Taimi

Phlunt Is Here

Hello hello!

I'm not interrupting anything important, I'm sure. Right?

So, Braham told me about the summit you're planning, and I talked to Zojja. She talked to the Arcane Council, and one thing led to the other, and now Councillor Phlunt is here in Scarlet's ley line lab with me, breathing down my neck while I try to finish my device!

He's holding his attendance at the summit over my head, until he sees my device in action. You need to come distract him before I fry his circuits.

My story[edit]

Iron Marches loading screen.jpg

Based off information Taimi sent me, I headed to the Iron Marches to investigate reports of Mordrem activity. Vines and other plant creatures have been sighted as far east as Ascalon, choking everything in their path.

I assisted the charr and defended the area around Monger's Sink, killing Mordrem and helping soldiers where I could. I acquired samples of dragon minion tissue that may help us understand our enemy. Brutus Rendflesh sent me a Mordrem seed to keep. I may be able to cultivate it into something useful, but I'll probably need a variety of materials.
