Walkthrough[edit]

First step is a small story instance at the eastern edge of the island of Droknar's Light.

Then, complete the Unlocking the Wizard's Tower meta event in Skywatch Archipelago, OR finish the optional objective and using Skyscale gain access to the Wizard's Tower and the final part of the story instance.

Inside the tower itself there will an ambush by two groups of Kryptis, one at the gate of the tower and one in its courtyard. After those are dealt with you can head up the stairs into a corridor to find Lyhr's Kryptis-possessed Facet of Logic. He has quite a lot of health and causes Daze but doesn't deal a lot of damage and is easily distracted by the NPC allies, making him easy to fight. At 10% health remaining the Facet of Logic becomes invincible and his Defiance bar becomes unlocked. Failing to break it with Purge Corruption will cause the facet to heal back to 35% health, while breaking it will spawn a veteran Incarnation of Judgment, the defeat of which will free him from possession.

Finally, defend Mabon against Kryptis for 2 minutes while he disables the tower. A final talk with your allies then awaits before the next mission.

Dialogue[edit]

Entering the Command Center
R'tchikk: Commander! Just in time for R'tchikk's battle plan.
R'tchikk: Mabon and Good Lyhr are working to unlock the Wizard's Tower. Mabon has requested the commander's assistance.
R'tchikk: Once Mabon and Good Lyhr have forged a key, we can access the Wizard's Tower.
Gladium: (gestures)
R'tchikk: Right, Glade. That's where we think Bad Lyhr is hiding. How he got in, skritt does not know.
Frode: Uenno and I will hold the line here in the interim, but we'll join you when it's time to recapture the tower.
R'tchikk: How does that sound to you, Commander?
<Character name>: I still have a lot to learn about...well, all of this. But I'll join you in that fight.
R'tchikk: Oh, R'tchikk is honored.
Frode: I'll ready the Astral Ward.
Zojja: I'll let Mabon know that we're moving.
Frode: Anything come from that distress call, Dagda?
Dagda: Did you hear about Alm?
Frode: No, what happened?
Dagda: Taken over by one of the beasts. Stuck a knife into his thigh during supper. Got there before he could cut anyone's throat.
Zojja: Almost did, though. They had him cornered for an hour before we got there...
Dagda: I took him to the Beacon of Ages. He'll stay behind a locked door until we know if he's going to be a problem.
Peitha: And that's why we need to be careful.
Mabon: Commander, we could use your expertise on the front line.
Mabon: Lyhr and I will be waiting for you.
Speaking to R'tchikk
<Character name>: I hope you don't mind my asking, but I've never met a skritt as...
R'tchikk: Brainy as R'tchikk? Neither has skritt.
R'tchikk: When R'tchikk was smaller, skritt was caught in an asuran trap. Bright; sparkling...
R'tchikk: They did some experiments and suddenly skritt knew a bunch of synonyms for "shiny."
R'tchikk: R'tchikk couldn't scamper with the others like before, so skritt looked for a new home.
Gladium: (gestures)
R'tchikk: Right here, with Glade.
Speaking to R'tchikk again
To be honest, this isn't the first time Lyhr has split in two only for one of his halves to run away... It's quite frustrating, if skritt can be open.
Talk more option tango.png Sounds frustrating. I'd love to know more about that ability, though.
Oh, of course! R'tchikk would love to better educate the commander on all things Astral Ward! A few of the wizards have some mystical powers that set them apart from the rest.
Talk more option tango.png And Lyhr's allows him to split his consciousness in two?
Correct! Just as Dagda channels the stars, and Isgarren and Waiting Sorrow formed the fractals together. Mabon... Mabon is more of a mystery to skritt. It may very well be his empathy.
Talk more option tango.png I suppose Lyhr's ability is especially helpful against the Kryptis.
R'tchikk agrees. It keeps him from being fully overwhelmed. It also makes for some very...colorful debate halls. He's been known to argue with himself on the stand. Glade witnessed this firsthand.
Talk end option tango.png That certainly sounds exciting. Thanks, R'tchikk and Glade.

The Missing Facet: Droknar's Light instance[edit]

Meeting up with the others
Lyhr: My stein is too dry.
Lyhr: I... I can't feel anything at all. The last glimpse was of Kryptis. A whole horde of them.
Mabon: We'll continue to hope for the best, until circumstances point otherwise.
Talking to MaboN
Mabon: Heard that you've been a great help in sealing the rifts.
<Character name>: I'm starting to understand why you kept this a secret for so long.
Mabon: And there's more to come.
Lyhr: We were just discussing the path forward. Dagda?
Dagda The tower is confused; it doesn't know what's happening.
<Character name>: It's sentient?
Dagda The magic that flows within has demonstrated some level of awareness; it reacts to danger.
Lyhr: Always imagined it as an extension of Isgarren himself.
Mabon: The tower calls to all of us, but it prefers Isgarren's voice in response. In his absence, it doesn't know what to do.
Lyhr: Which is where we come in.
Lyhr: There are a few ways we can calm our feisty lump of bricks.
<Character name>: And I assume none of them are easy. So, what's the plan?
Mabon: Lyhr and I will push toward the "fractal" of Droknar's Forge.
Lyhr: You can either assist us, or you can help collect essences.
Mabon: Distilled magic and emotion; it's potent among the fractals.
<Character name>: We're collecting emotion, essentially?
<Character name>: We did something like that in Cantha. There was a demon in Chul-Moo's mine—gang leader. Was that a Kryptis?
Mabon: Correct. And your demon was likely a Wanderer: demons who do not affiliate with Eparch's little society.
Mabon: Kryptis or not, demons are drawn to emotion like Risen are drawn to blood.
<Character name>: Then this place must be a banquet.
Mabon: Morbid, but yes. We'll need to calm things down here before we can approach the tower. I trust you'll choose the right direction.

Back outside[edit]

Peitha: Scurrying, like prey waiting to be killed.
Strange Voice: Good.
<Character name>: What? Peitha...?
Peitha: (sighs) Soon, my king.
If the optional objective for collecting essences gets completed [verification requested]
Zojja: Commander! We're ready to push into the courtyard. Mabon and the Facet of...
R'tchikk: Good Lyhr!
Zojja: Right, "Good Lyhr." We've got enough distilled energy, thanks to your help.
Zojja: We'll meet you outside the main gate. Be ready for anything.
Once reaching the Wizard's Tower
Peitha: So this is it...? The tower that your wizards keep talking about?
<Character name>: I haven't seen anything like it...
Peitha: It looks perfectly...normal.
<Character name>: Normal? That's almost a compliment, coming from you.
Peitha: It's... I can't quite place my finger on it.
<Character name>: So you do have fingers?
Peitha: Very funny.

The Missing Facet: Southern Wizard's Tower instance[edit]

Regrouping with your allies at the Wizard's Tower Entrance
<Character name>: It's so much larger up close.
Mabon: It has taken on many facades over time.
Mabon: The inside, however, has remained the same.
<Character name>: So, what's the plan?
Lyhr: With those essences in hand, I can shatter the gate's lock.
Lyhr: Just takes a good lick of concentrated magic to calm it down.
Mabon: Whatever we encounter inside, I should be able to disarm it in Isgarren's absence.
<Character name>: You do whatever you need to, Mabon. I'll guard you.
R'tchikk: (gasp)
Zojja: Without further ado.
Lyhr: Behind me. All of you.
Once the door has opened
Zojja: There's so many of them!
Mabon: We need to clear out the courtyard. Immediately.
When half the courtyard is cleared
R'tchikk: Even skritt is growing tired...They never pause to smell the air!
After defeating the Kryptis just inside the entrance
Zojja: How did they get inside...?
Lyhr: Can you hear me, old friend?
Lyhr (Logic): Is that...? Who is that?
Lyhr: There I am!
Lyhr: With me, Commander. We need to—
Lyhr: Woah, there! Don't take a swing at me, you half-witted headache.
When Facet of Logic Lyhr is at around 75% health
Lyhr (Logic): The voices...!
Lyhr: Turn your veins to Deldrimor! Count the astral planes!
Lyhr (Logic): One... Two...
Lyhr: In your head! In your head!
Lyhr (Logic): (pained shout)
R'tchikk: Skritt is here to remind Lyhrs to behave!
When the Facet of Logic Lyhr becomes invincible at 10% health
Lyhr: Commander, channel the Heart's power to pull the Kryptis corruption from inside him...me...the other one!
Lyhr: Quickly, destroy the demonic parasite before it returns and heals him.
Once Facet of Logic Lyhr has been cleansed
Lyhr: We are calm. How many astral planes did you count?
Lyhr (Logic): Forty-eight...
Lyhr: What, that's two more than—
Mabon: We've no time for banter, Lyhr. The fight is hardly done.
Mabon: If we can channel the tower, we can quell its storm.
Protecting Mabon while he disables the towers defenses
Lyhr: You still able to fight?
Lyhr (Logic): Aye, should be.
Lyhr: Good, because you've spent enough time taking swings at us instead of the Kryptis, you lout!
Zojja: Focus!
Mabon: Keep them away from me or I'll lose my grasp.
Starting at 50%
Mabon: Keep fighting them off! Do not desist, not yet!
Mabon: It's starting to...calm....I need your strength...just a little longer!
Mabon: Unlock your doors! We are your friends...!
Once the defenses are down
Mabon: (groan)
Zojja: Mabon? Are you okay?
Mabon: I just need to rest my spirit.
Lyhr: Let me take a look at you.
Dagda: Thank the stars... You live.
Lyhr (Logic): I'm okay, Dagda. I'm fine.
Lyhr: So am I.
Lyhr (Logic): Nobody asked you.
Uenno: I need a leash for you both.
Uenno: I'm sure there were more intuitive ways to handle that situation.
Dagda: It's ready for us.
Frode: Finally...
Mabon: Let's head inside.

My story[edit]

Skywatch Archipelago loading screen.png

After speaking with everyone back at camp, our next steps were clear: Mabon and Lyhr need to perform a ritual that will enable them to forge a key to enter the courtyard of the Wizard's Tower. From there, Mabon will need to cast an enchantment to unlock the tower itself. Without Isgarren to calm it, however, more extreme measures are needed.

I can pursue one of two routes: help them forge that key, or gather essences from sources around the fractals. Anything, really, that enables us to collect a king's ransom of emotional, magical energies to power Isgarren's rituals. All I need to do is decide which route to take.

***

After gathering all the energies we needed, Zojja let me know that our preparations were complete. I guess I'm about to find out what all the fuss has been about.

***

As predicted, the missing facet of Lyhr's consciousness was beyond the gates of the Wizard's Tower—how he navigated those defenses while possessed and while we were trapped outside is another mystery I may never decipher. After clearing the inner courtyard of Kryptis and defending Mabon while he cast a powerful spell to bring the tower's defenses down, we were able to help Lyhr stabilize his other half. With Lyhr now rejoined and another wizard on our side, our chances for success have increased.

We are ready to make our way into this "feisty lump of bricks," as Lyhr affectionately calls the tower. While I'm intrigued at what lies on the other side of the portal, I know we'll meet even more difficult challenges the closer we get to the boundary between Tyria and beyond.
