Rewards[edit]

Walkthrough[edit]

This mission is fairly simple. To start it, enter the camp instance and speak to your allies.

During the event completion stage, 6 regular events are needed to completely fill the bar. Both events of a Rift (pre and boss) award the same participation as a regular one, making these efficient ways to complete this stage.

After the bar is completely filled, seek out a Rift of any size or participate in The Road to Heitor meta-event and complete it before heading to an outcropping to the south of and above Point of interest (map icon).png Hollow of the Covetous to meet Irja and get them to go to the base camp.

Return to a reprise of the initial instance to finish the mission.

Dialogue[edit]

Several hours later.

Before entering the instance
Arina: Wayfinder, can you hear me?
<Character name>: Arina! I can hear you just fine.
Arina: Good. One of the volunteer Astral Ward cast an enchantment that better focuses our communication spells. Works in Nayos now.
Arina: Peitha and I are at camp. I'm catching up on her...developments. Things you probably need to hear too.
<Character name>: On my way.

The Survivors: Heitor's Gate instance[edit]

Talking to Peitha and Arina
Peitha: Rested, Wayfinder?
<Character name>: Best I can be. This camp is impressive, given the circumstances. Did you source this all from Nayos...?
Arina: Oh, it was much worse before you showed up. The Astral Ward have been sending in more supplies. Shelter, food.
Arina: But, all these nice supplies and roofs won't get us anywhere if Heitor turns us to ground dolyak.
<Character name>: If she's anything like Cerus, I'd rather not visualize the outcome.
Peitha: Heitor's dreams have been misplaced, but these are the bones that we plucked. She's currently holding a fortress to the north.
Peitha: If we can breach her gates, prompt her to change allegiance—
Arina: Unlikely, friend. Her champions hunt us on the field. One of you, or all of us, will die unless we put her down first.
Peitha: I know.
Peitha: Wayfinder. This is why your presence became cardinal. Heitor's arrival signals a change in Eparch's plan.
Peitha: I don't know what he's doing, but it feels...imminent. They're sealing all paths to the castle.
Arina: This is where you come in.
<Character name>: You need me to hit something?
Arina: You got it. We've got everything in place to push against the fortress now, and we could use you on two fronts.
Arina: Help the Astral Ward and Peitha's rebels protect the outskirts. Eparch's grunts are flagrant.
Arina: And when we're ready: join the push. We need to crack open those gates so we can take the fight to the mark herself.
Peitha: Make my people trust you. And look scary doing it. If Heitor is reporting to the king, I want him to shake.

Inner Nayos[edit]

Once enough events have been completed
Arina: Eparch and Heitor's generals are all over the place. If you really want to upset the system, help us hunt them down.
Arina: That's the thing about these Kryptis "royalty." They're always surrounded by grunts that are willing to die...
Arina: Well...if not by our weapons, then by Eparch's maw. Carve a path, Wayfinder.
After defeating one of Heitor's generals
Ramses: Wayfinder, your mind is thrilling and warm, but... Peitha's admiration is obvious.
<Character name>: Ramses...?
Ramses: Yes! She may have taught me how to communicate with you in the same way. I hope this isn't an...ah, unwanted complication?
<Character name>: Surprising, but I suppose my mind is an open book these days...
Ramses: I am pleased. I've caught whispers of your efforts in Nayos; Heitor's troops quake as you approach. "Divine" work.
Ramses: But, with their numbers growing more reasonable, I've heard...other rumors.
Ramses: A disturbance, just out of sight. If you could investigate it before returning to camp...?
<Character name>: I'll look into it.
Ramses: A delight, you are. I will direct your mind toward the interruption.
After locating and approaching the interruption
Irja: Away! Away!
Irja: Leave me be!
Irja: (whimpers)
<Character name>: It's safe now! You're safe.
Irja: Wh-who are...?
<Character name>: I'm with Peitha. I'm not one of Eparch's.
Irja: Peitha...
Irja: I didn't think you were with the Midnight King. You're too...ripe.
<Character name>: Peitha and the Astral Ward set up camp nearby. You can seek refuge there. We're your allies.
Irja: I... You're not afraid of me.
Irja: Okay. I'll go.
Peitha: My wayfinder. Your actions had the desired effect; very little rests between us and Heitor. We'll meet you near camp.
<Character name>: I'll head that way. Don't do anything dramatic without me.
Peitha: It's time I introduced you to my "cousin."

The Survivors: Astral Ward Camp instance[edit]

Approaching Irja and Ramses
Ramses: Do not fear. This place is a safe one.
Ramses: These creatures are kind and share curious foods. I encourage you to speak with them—
Irja: I... I...
<Character name>: Feeling a little overwhelmed? Don't worry, me too.
Irja: I heard...rumors that Peitha rallied. But... Tyrians?
<Character name>: You know of Tyria?
Irja: I've seen it, when I've dreamt. Not in a long while, but there's...so much water. Colors. Smells.
Ramses: Yes! The Astral Ward can tell you many stories, if you'd like to listen.
<Character name>: But no pressure.
Approaching Arina and Peitha
(Irja quietly leaves the camp grounds while everyone's focus is elsewhere.)
Arina: All here. We can prepare to move.
Peitha: The path to Heitor should be clear, aside from a few guards left to protect the waning fortress.
<Character name>: Guards are easy. Heitor? I don't know what to expect.
Peitha: A hard-enough fight, and who knows what vile thoughts Eparch has equipped her with. We move with caution.
Peitha: Ramses, why do I feel dread emitting from your teeth?
Ramses: Oh, apologies, Lady Peitha. Trying to help Irja acclimate has proven...complicated. She's fearful.
Peitha: This is a dreadful place to choose solitude. But she'll adjust.
Peitha: Let's hope that removing Heitor will secure these lands for those who can't fight back. We move.

My story[edit]

Inner Nayos loading screen.png

Heitor—Cerus's former mate and a "cousin" of Peitha (as best I can gather, Kryptis family dynamics are ornamental)—holds the fortress blocking us from reaching Eparch. Nothing goes in or out from his domain as long as the gate stands closed. Peitha seemed open to the possibility that Heitor could join our cause, but Arina shut that line of conversation down, believing this to be a kill-or-be-killed situation. Either way, we needed to cut our way through Heitor's Gate if we'd ever have a chance to confront the Midnight King.

***

First, we had to strengthen our foothold in Nayos. To accomplish this, we set about chipping away at Heitor's forces in the region—defeating Kryptis patrols and taking down their leadership.

In the wilds of Inner Nayos, Ramses caught wind of someone in duress. After beating back a group of attackers, we found a Kryptis named Irja, cowering and confused. I explained to Irja that we were with Peitha's forces and directed her to the Astral Ward camp. Surprised that we had come to her aid, and not entirely trusting of non-Kryptis, she agreed to head to the safety of Arina's camp; after all, she was merely game to Eparch's hunters.

***

With the loyalists sufficiently weakened, I returned to camp myself. Irja had made her way there, and Ramses and I did our best to make her feel comfortable. Getting comfortable wasn't part of Peitha's plans for me, though—she called a meeting for us to plan our assault on Heitor and the forces at her fortress. It was time to act.
