Dialogue[edit]

If you're looking for a hired gun, I'm afraid I've already got a contract that will keep me busy for the next month or so. This deadeye's all booked up.
Talk more option tango.png Deadeye? Is that a nickname?
It's a job description. It's my specialty. It's who I am and what I do. Some say I'm just a common thief, but I'm more than that. I'm a mercenary. Long-range combat.
Talk more option tango.png Are there more deadeyes like you?
Sure, of course. We've been around for decades, if not longer. I don't know exactly. There wasn't one first deadeye who started it all. It was gradual.
Talk more option tango.png Gradual?
Sure. In the desert, long range is the way to survive. Thieves started favoring rifles. Then they figured out that shadow magic can be used to sharpen eyesight. And that's it.
Talk more option tango.png And you call yourselves deadeyes?
No, folks started calling us deadeyes, and the name stuck. We've got a reputation for not taking prisoners. We don't take sides or fight causes either. We go where the money is.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png The name seems to fit.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png Simple. I like it.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png Gradual. Sounds like a long story.
Talk more option tango.png Do all deadeyes use rifles?
A rifle is all you can trust out here. There are things out in the desert you'll want to be able to take down at a distance.
Talk more option tango.png What else do you use?
A few magical cantrips for when enemies get too close. They don't take long to cast, so they're handy to have in a pinch. A momentary distraction can be fatal out here.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png Cantrips. Interesting.
Talk end option tango.png I believe you.
Talk more option tango.png What makes deadeyes so different?
We can use a magical mark to stalk a target from a distance and sap their strength. As long as the mark persists, our attacks gain increased potency over time.
Talk more option tango.png You don't steal from them?
Thievery in the desert isn't as effective as in the city. Shadowstepping up to a hydra is a quick way to become its next meal.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png Good point.
Talk end option tango.png Oh. All right. Thanks for explaining.
Talk more option tango.png What were you saying about a contract?
I'm watching over the fields for the farms. Some strange new threats have turned up recently, and they're worried about their crops. You should look out for yourself, too.
Talk more option tango.png And you said you're a deadeye? (same as above)
Talk end option tango.png I will, thanks.
Talk end option tango.png That's all I was curious about.
Talk more option tango.png Contract? (same as 'What were you saying about a contract?')
Talk end option tango.png I'll go talk to someone else, then.
