Sustained Damage | 4/5 |

Survivability | 3/5 |
Difficulty | 2/5 |
Power Dragonhunter is a very strong build for instanced content. It's also a great pick for solo gameplay, as it has a very high range with Longbow and exceptionally good burst damage. It has good access to all important defensive boons, e.g. Stability, Aegis, Resolution and Protection.

Spear of Justice Management [edit]
Rotation Concept[edit]
- The rotation consists of two sections: Longbow & Greatsword.
Step 1: Longbow[edit]
- On Longbow, always open and end with Symbol of Energy. In between, use the following skills and fill with auto attacks:
- Hunter's Ward x 1: this is a stationary skill, meaning that you cannot move during the cast. Don't cancel this!
- True Shot x 3: another stationary skill, meaning that you cannot move during the cast. Don't cancel this!
- Deflecting Shot x 2: this is a Daze, so save this for Breakbars if needed.
Step 2: Greatsword[edit]
- On Greatsword, always open and end with Symbol of Resolution. In between, use the following skills and fill with auto attacks:
- Whirling Wrath x 2: This skill does a lot more damage when used inside the enemy's hitbox, as all Projectiles will hit.
- Binding Blade x 1: only use the fist cast of this, it will deal damage over time. The second cast can be used for Breakbar damage.
- Leap of Faith is a damage gain when used, but can also yeet you into places where you don't want to stand. For starters, I recommend skipping this and only using it as a gap closer.
With Alacrity, that creates a fixed loop rotation cycle of the combos mentioned above with a duration of ~21-22 seconds .
Default Skill | Notes |
---|---|
Litany of Wrath | Immortality button once every 20 seconds, as it will heal you based on your damage dealt. |
Sword of Justice | Strong Damage, full range and Vulnerability. |
Procession of Blades | Strong Damage and partial uptime on Fury. |
Bane Signet | Just there for the additional Power. Can be replaced by any other utility skill you might need. |
Dragon's Maw | Strong Damage and pertial uptime on Might. |
CC Skills for breakbar damage[edit]
Gear[edit]
Important Stats in Hero Panel (descending in Importance):
- At least 75% Critical Chance: Fury (and/or Resolution in Open World) give the remaining 25%.
- Maximize Ferocity
- Maximize Power
- For a budget variant, simply replace all ascended armor pieces of Berserker's with a mix of rare/exotic Berserker's & Assassin's.

For OW, it can make sense to make a build more forgiving, so that you can sustain on your own.
Increasing General Survivability[edit]
- Through the native synergies with Longbow, the easiest way to increase survivability is to stay on Longbow and kite dangerous attacks.
- For full range on both weapons, you can also slap on a Scepter and a Focus on the second bar for open world.
- Swap out Zeal for Radiance:
Radiance | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
- That will cover a great Resolution uptime and increase your damage compared to Zeal when you're alone.
- Zeal is great for Vulnerability coverage in general, but is made obsolete by Spear of Justice, Renewed Justice, Sword of Justice and Big Game Hunter.
- Renewed Justice will keep recharging your Spear of Justice, allowing you to put it on every enemy and benefit from 20% increased damage and Vulnerability on every hit.
- Use the Survivability Food and Utility item listed above.
- If you feel like you need more passive defense, use a few Knight's or Commander's Trinkets.
Default Skill | Notes |
---|---|
Litany of Wrath | Immortality button once every 20 seconds, as it will heal you based on your damage dealt. |
Sword of Justice | Strong Damage, full range and Vulnerability. |
Option 1: Hallowed Ground Option 2: "Save Yourselves!" |
Great for covering Resolution, paired with Stability. Many self-boons, including Fury and Protection. |
Signet of Judgment | Just there for the passive survivability and Stun break. Can be replaced by any other utility skill you might need. |
"Feel My Wrath!" | Provides a bit of Quickness and Fury, also spreads them to allies. |
Boon & Coverage[edit]
- Your damage is strongly tied to having Resolution via Retribution and Righteous Instincts. With the trait loadout, you will apply lots of Resolution to yourself: Virtue of Resolution, Hallowed Ground, Healer's Resolution
- Might and Fury are covered by Righteous Instincts, "Feel My Wrath!", Inspired Virtue and Relic of the Midnight King.
- Shield of Courage applies Protection on cast. You will reach a partial uptime on Protection via Relic of Durability, Shield of Courage and "Save Yourselves!".
- Dragonhunter has no reliable source of Quickness and does not fully cover Protection. Therefore, using Jade Tech Offensive Overcharge and Jade Tech Defensive Overcharge will massively increase damage and survivability in solo gameplay.
- These give for 150 additional Toughness, Vitality, Condition Damage and Power as well as all boons aside from Stability, Resistance and Resolution on entering combat. These effects can be pre-stacked by using an Enchanted Snow Diamond Tonic repeatedly when out of combat. They will fully cover Quickness and Protection in general roaming, where you enter and exit combat frequently!
- In case you don't want the hassle of reapplying jade protocols, you can abuse the synergy between Relic of the Cavalier and Blast from the Skyscale to apply lots of Aegis, Resistance, Might and Quickness to yourself. It does not have an internal cooldown and applies the boons on every hit of Blast. This also works with any other mount engage when hitting multiple targets.
Dealing with Conditions and Control effects[edit]
- With Resolution up most of the time, incoming conditions are less of a threat to you compared to other builds.
- Absolute Resolve makes Wings of Resolve cleanse 5 conditions in total.
- You have two sources of Stability: Shield of Courage, Hallowed Ground.
- Indomitable Courage makes Shield of Courage a Stun break with additional Stability.
