Structure upgrade
Formerly in World versus World, upgrades to improve defenses and add services could be purchased for the various objectives (resource camps, towers, keeps or Stonemist Castle), formerly called structures.
Mechanics[edit]
Any player can order an upgrade by talking to the Quartermaster, who is usually standing by the supply depot of that structure. The upgrades cost coin, supply and sometimes karma as well. Upgrades need to be made following a certain order, by tier.
All upgrades require a certain amount of supply and will take time. For Personnel upgrades, the required supply must already be present in the structure's supply depot. After initiation, the local worker will start gradually upgrading the structure. Structural upgrades can be accelerated by hiring a second worker. A shortage of supply at the local depot will stall Structural upgrades until more supply arrives.
Except for resource camps, which generate supply themselves, the amount of supply in depot may be increased by dolyaks who periodically transport small quantities of supply (35 for towers and 70 for keeps) from nearby allied resource camps. It is therefore important to ensure that nearby allied resource camps are available, and that allied dolyaks are able to safely make their journey to the structures being upgraded. Upgrading the resource camps may double the amount of supply which dolyaks deliver to each structure, and hire guards to protect the dolyaks in their journeys across the map.
Since players can take their share of supply from a structure's supply depot, it is generally recommended not to reduce a depot's supply when the structure is in need of a speedy upgrade. Starting a Personnel upgrade while a Structural upgrade is in progress may also deplete a structure's supply depot.
Capture of a structure resets all upgrades, including any in progress.

Summary[edit]
- Supply depot
Completed upgrades increase the total amount a structure's supply depot can hold. Initially, a resource camp and a tower have a maximum of 100 supply in depot. Initially, the castle and keeps have a maximum of 1,000 supply in depot. Each completed Tier 1 upgrade increases maximum supply in depot by 25; Tier 2 by 50; Tier 3 by 75; these values are doubled for the castle. Therefore, a fully upgraded resource camp has a maximum of 250 supply in depot, 700 for towers, 1700 for keeps and 2400 for the castle.
- Gates and Walls
The structure upgrades (Reinforce Walls, Reinforce Gates, Fortify Tower and Fortify Keep) may increase the health of gates or walls while also decreasing the damage caused by siege weapons. Initially, a gate has 410,000 health. A reinforced gate has 610,000 health (gates may not be fortified). Initially, a wall has 450,000 health. A reinforced wall has 676,000 health while a fortified wall has 833,000 health. The damage caused by siege weapons to both walls and gates is decreased 67% when reinforced and 75% when fortified, except that damage caused by flame rams is decreased 59% by reinforced gates. Therefore, once walls are fortified, attacks against gates using flame rams are more likely to be successful. If the health of a gate or wall is below the maximum due to damage then it may be repaired by any allied player using supply.
Notes[edit]
- Any player with the required funds may request an upgrade. Insufficient funds will be shown in red.
- Unavailable upgrades are indicated with a locked icon.
- If you are not eligible to make an upgrade then the Buy button will be "grayed-out".
- Upgrades must be requested in order. For example, a Tier 2 cannot be requested until the corresponding Tier 1 is completed.
- Simultaneous upgrades are possible, but an upgrade of the same type (Personel or Structural) may not be requested if another is in progress.
- Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns removed structure upgrades and replaced them with objective upgrades.[1]
