Ambient dialogue[edit]

West of the courtyard
Ward Member Paara: Moon Camp seems to be in working order. I was expecting at least some damage, warping it from such a distance.
Ward Member Barath: Don't know why we didn't glide it from the northern bay, though. Would've been a smoother journey.
Ward Member Paara: We needed to maintain at least a little subtlety, Barath. We would've scared the fur off the lowlanders' backs.
Ward Member Barath: Heh, guess you're right.
Southeast of the courtyard
Ward Member Bedivere: What are we doing?
Ward Member Hallma: Listening.
Ward Member Bedivere: And what are we listening for?
Ward Member Hallma: And it's gone. I'm not entirely sure, but Zizel is up to... something odd.
Ward Member Hallma: I've heard barks and squawks and all sort of odd animalistic noises coming from the research area.
Ward Member Bedivere: Zizel, up to something odd? Never.
On the southern rooftop
Ward Member Vestmar: Hear anything interesting while you were in the village?
Ward Member Pleex: Actually, yes. The cubs are, of course, quite eager to talk. I was told to ignore most of their rumblings.
Ward Member Pleex: They were eager to tell me about a creature called the "Slithering Cub Eater." Apparently lives near the eastern ridge.
Ward Member Pleex: I was ready to dismiss the tale when I heard two of their hunters discussing the same creature. It's very real.
Ward Member Vestmar: You shouldn't be so surprised. The farther north we go, the more untamed the wilds become. All sorts of things live up here.
On the first floor, east
Archivist Ikur: Oh, hello, Wayfinder. What a magnificent opportunity this is.
Archivist Ikur: As you may have heard, the Astral Ward as a whole has long been barred from visiting the islands within Janthir.
Archivist Ikur: Given the potential dangers, Mabon and Isgarren held strict watch over the region.
Archivist Ikur: But they did little research into the rich, vibrant history of this place. Our records are simply abysmal.
Archivist Ikur: The opportunity we have today is... Oh ho ho, remarkable. Centuries of untouched relics beneath our feet.
Archivist Ikur: White Mantle. Wayfarer. Archaic kodan history. Mursaat. Oh my! Where does one even begin?
Archivist Ikur: ...Are you still listening to me?
On the second floor, to the right of the stairs
Astral Ward Mage (1): The feline companions of the lowlanders—what do they call them?
Astral Ward Mage (2): Journeykin. I heard that one attacked a scouting party. The one I met was quite darling.
Astral Ward Mage (1): They're cute, but I'm also getting some strange readings. Nothing bad, just... odd.
Astral Ward Mage (1): As a species, they seem to possess some type of magic.
Astral Ward Mage (1): I don't know how that magic manifests, but the vision crystal in my pocket nearly popped when I got close to one.
Astral Ward Mage (1): So I looked into it, and you know which creature has a similar magical composition? The warclaw!
Astral Ward Mage (2): Wait—no. Truly? From the Mists battles?
Astral Ward Mage (1): Yes. And we know that warclaws are bound by potent souls. What if these creatures are their origin?
On the second floor
Frode: Anything to report, Roxxi?
Ward Member Roxxi: Warden. Yes. We've got Astral Ward at every lowland outpost. They've got three main establishments...
Ward Member Roxxi: The main village, Harvest Den. And two more farther west. Their hunting and fishing outposts.
Frode: How are they liking the added company?
Ward Member Roxxi: Ah, well enough. Anxious, but we're keeping our numbers low. This isn't a takeover, after all. Just an outreach mission.
Frode: Good. Have the waypoints been deployed?
Ward Member Roxxi: Yes. That has been another subject of debate. As you warned, they are not eager to use our magic.
Ward Member Roxxi: Though, some are quite curious. The key is respecting those boundaries.
Frode: Good enough. Keep it up.
Outside the camp, northeast
Gentle Winter: A sight, it is. How do the sky watchers keep their house afloat?
Narrow Trail: Magic, and who knows the cost of it. I am not comfortable standing so close...
Gentle Winter: And why is that?
Narrow Trail: Fall out of the sky, it might! There are no supports. I'd prefer a great distance between myself and their homestead.
Gentle Winter: You can go wherever you'd like. I might take a closer look. They did say that we're welcome.
