Walkthrough[edit]

You start in one corner of the mission area. You will notice a green circle on the map moving towards you. This is the Nightmare patrol you have to fight to get a disguise. The circle starts outside the mission area, so you have to wait for them to come to you or you will go outside the area and be kicked from the mission.

Beat them up, then you will see a Nightmare Court disguise on the ground near one of the corpses which you can interact with. Then you will be disguised, so enter the Nightmare camp.

Talk to Sariel, the leader of the camp. Choose one of the options so that she and her soldiers leave the camp. Then head to the back of the camp where you will find three prison cells. One contains the white stag, the other two contain prisoners. Break down the prison doors to free both the stag and the prisoners.

After you break through the last door, a Courtier will run in and shout about Dreamers (that's you) being in the camp. Then you will be attacked by Courtiers and hounds. The freed prisoners will help you with the encounters, so it's worth reviving them if they get killed.

Fight your way out of the camp, towards the green circle near where you started. Several waves of Courtiers and hounds will attack you. When you get near the green circle where the skale are, several Courtiers will run in with jaguar pets and attack you. After you have defeated them, finish the mission by escaping to the green circle marked on the map.

Dialogue[edit]

At the beginning:

Caithe: Hail, Valiant. Make haste, we have much to do.

Cinematic on approaching Caithe:

Caithe: You've arrived just in time. I scouted the Nightmare Court camp, and fortune favors us. The white stag is not yet corrupted. However, that is where our luck ends.
Caithe: I saw a patrol guarding the outskirts of the camp, and several more courtiers within. Freeing the stag will be difficult.
<Character name>: My plan is to disguise ourselves and sneak into the main camp. Once there, we can free the stag and use stealth to escape.
<Character name>: We'll need to steal some of their clothing so that we look like the other courtiers. Then we can move about freely.
Caithe: A good plan, but we must be cautious. The camp's leader is Sariel, a cruel and prideful sylvari. She may notice that we are not what we seem.
<Character name>: Then we'll just have to make sure she's not around while we search. Maybe we can play to her flaws.
<Character name>: After we find the cage where they're holding the white stag, we'll set it free and fight to cover it's escape.
Caithe: Deception, mayhem...I'm going to enjoy this plan. Very well. Let us go and find that patrol.

After the cinematic:

Caithe: Overcome a group of courtiers and deprive them of their garments. Such disguises will cover our nature...for a while.
Caithe agrees with <Character name>.

Talking to Caithe:

Caithe: There! That patrol will do. Be careful not to ruin their clothes.
Talk end option tango.png Very thoughtful.

Encountering the patrol:

Nightmare Dancer: Caithe? And a Valiant? What are they doing here?

After defeating the patrol:

Caithe: Let us hide our faces, and steal a disguise.
Caithe: These clothes are a poor fit. I think I'm developing a rash...

Talking to Caithe:

Caithe: We must reach Sariel and convince her to leave the camp. Her guards will follow, and we'll have more freedom to search for the stag.
Talk more option tango.png How do I convince her to leave?
Play to her pride, <Character name>. You'll find a way.
Talk end option tango.png All right.

Entering Hemlock Coil:

Nightmare Minstrel: New to the Court, are you? Fair fortune.
Nightmare Minstrel bows to <Character name>.
Nightmare Courtier: Might your tongue, saplings. Sariel doesn't like back-talk.
Nightmare Courtier disagrees with <Character name>.

Talking to Nightmare Minstrel:

Welcome, converts. Keep your manners and wits about you—Courtier Sariel has no patience for feeblewitted trolls.
Talk more option tango.png Where might I find Courtier Sariel?
Further into the camp, below the hill. I'm sure you'll see the sycophants clustered around her.
Talk back option tango.png I'll be on the lookout. Can I ask another question?
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for the directions.
Talk more option tango.png Can you tell me about Sariel? She seems very interesting.
Sure, like a spider is interesting to a bug. Sariel is the cruelest courtier I've ever seen. She delights in reminding us of that fact.
Talk back option tango.png I'll watch my tongue. Can I ask something else?
Talk end option tango.png I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
Talk end option tango.png I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

Approaching Sariel:

Sariel: A pair of new faces, hm? Know your place and respect my command, or I'll make you suffer.
Sariel threatens <Character name>.

Talking to Sariel:

Sariel: A newcomer, hm? Do you have any idea who I am? Best learn fast— or you'll die slow.
Dignity I apologize, my lady. Allow me to give you the news—a caravan of gold cloth is leaving Mabon Market even as we speak.
Mmm. I do enjoy a bit of luxury. Very well, you may live—but the gold cloth is mine.
Talk quest option tango.png Of course, Courtier Sariel.
Charisma Lady Sariel, you're magnificent! The tengu who called you ugly must be blind.
What tengu? Must be that Mabon Market trader. I'll teach him what ugly really means!
Talk quest option tango.png He'll learn better than to disrespect you!
Ferocity Our forces in Dolorous Vale are under attack. Only you can help, great Sariel!
At last, the court begins to recognize my superiority. I will go there at once and save the day!
Talk quest option tango.png Fair fortune, my lady!
Talk end option tango.png My apologies. I'll leave.

After convincing Sariel to leave the camp:

Sariel: Courtiers! Bring your weapons and follow me. Battle calls!

Talking to Caithe:

Caithe: Excellent work. Now to find the white stag and free it. Then all we have to do is escape.
Talk end option tango.png You make it sound so easy.

Looking for the stag:

Caithe: The white stag must be close. Keep your eyes wide.
Nightmare Courtier: May nightmare guide you in the darkness.

Approaching the prison cells:

Prisoner: I'll never fall to nightmare! I'd rather die!
Prisoner threatens <Character name>.
Prisoner: The darkness...the darkness is approaching...it's approaching...
Prisoner is surprised by <Character name>.
Caithe: Ah, look. The white stag.
Caithe: It would be too great a cruelty to leave these prisoners behind. We must free them all.
Caithe: Break the cages. Free these trapped souls.

After breaking the prison doors:

Prisoner: I have to run-have to get away from here. Thank you for my life!
Prisoner: You saved me. Thank you!

Talking to the first prisoner:

Prisoner: Oh, bless you, <Character name>. I'll stay with you. You're my only hope of escape!
Talk end option tango.png Keep fighting. This will all be over soon.

Talking to the second prisoner:

Prisoner: Thank the Pale Tree! We need to find our way out of here. I want to go home!
Talk end option tango.png Stay sharp, sprout, and we'll do just that.

After freeing the white stag:

Caithe: Excellent. Now, we make our escape.
Nightmare Courtier: Dreamers are here. They're stealing the stag!
Nightmare Courtier: You will die in torment!
Nightmare Courtier points at <Character name>.

Talking to Caithe:

Caithe: Valiant! No time to waste—stay near the stag, and head out of the camp!
Talk end option tango.png Agreed!

While fleeing from the camp:

Caithe: Here come the hounds.
Nightmare Minstrel: Death to the Dream!
Nightmare Minstrel points at <Character name>.

Exiting the camp:

Nightmare Courtier: Accept the Nightmare-or die!

Cinematic on reaching the end:

<Character name>: That was tremendous! The disguises worked perfectly. How did you know we could convince their leader to leave the camp?
Caithe: I know her. Her name is Sariel, and before she fell to Nightmare, she was the student of someone I loved very dearly... but that is a story for another day.
Caithe: The white stag seems uninjured, though understandably frightened. I'll take him back to the Grove.
Caithe: Be warned, Valiant. Sariel is prideful, above all else. She will not forget this insult.
<Character name>: Yes, but you're taking the stag back to the Grove. Sariel wouldn't actually attack the Pale Tree's city just out of wounded pride... would she?
Caithe: You underestimate the Nightmare Court. They will do whatever they must to get their way.
<Character name>: At least Gavin still had a sense of honor. How can he and Sariel both be in the Nightmare Court?
Caithe: Evil has many forms. Some desire tyranny. Others, chaos.
Caithe: Regardless, they will come for the white stag. When they do, we must be ready. I will meet you at the Grove.

After the final cinematic:

Caithe: I'll take the stag back to the Grove. Make sure you are not followed, then return to me.
Caithe salutes <Character name>.

Talking to Caithe:

Caithe: We must take the White Stag to the Grove. The Nightmare Court will stop at nothing to recapture him.
Talk end option tango.png Don't worry, I'll be ready for a fight. I'll see you at the Grove.
Talk more option tango.png Would the court dare attack the Grove just to claim the stag?
Yes. It's that important. Hope sustains us when all else fails. If they can twist it to nightmare...they may well win and condemn us all.
Talk end option tango.png Don't worry, I'll be ready for a fight. I'll see you at the Grove.

My story[edit]

Hidden in Darkness.jpg

Caithe and I stole some courtiers' robes, and infiltrated the Nightmare Court campsite at Hemlock Coil. With a little stealth and a lot of good fortune, the white stag is free again. Now we will take it to the Grove, where the stag will be safe.
