Walkthrough[edit]

Talk to Galina upon entering the mission. You and Trahearne will be sent to find Snarl and his band, which went missing en route to the back side of the Flame Legion's camp, at the top of the hill. Go in the nearby lake and look for an underwater cave entrance near the north side of the green circle on your map. If you can't see it at first, kill all the fish and Trahearne will speak, pointing you in the right direction. Inside the cave, you'll have to fight through some separatist groups before finding the band. It's helpful to clear at the area first because the separatists will all converge on you when you meet the warband.

Immediately after talking, a few more (it's a large group if you haven't killed them piecemeal earlier) separatists with a veteran leader will attack you, so AoE skills are recommended. Your allies will provide decent distractions and tank some damage. Once the separatists are dead, find the staircase to the west, leading up to the flame shaman. While fighting him, watch out for the flame wall he casts right in front of him as it deals a long lasting burning. Speak with Galina to end the mission.

Dialogue[edit]

Approaching Trahearne:

Trahearne: That soldier must be Galina. We should speak with her.

Speaking with Trahearne:

Trahearne: If we can convince Galine Edgecrusher and Snarl Backdraft to aid us, it could turn the tide against the Risen.
Talk more option tango.png Who is Galina Edgecrusher?
A powerful and well-respected Blood legionnaire. She's renowned for her use of artillery and raw force.
Talk more option tango.png What's she doing all the way out here?
Fighting the Flame Legion. They're particularly vile.
Talk more option tango.png Who are the Flame Legion?
Talk end option tango.png I understand.
Talk more option tango.png Who are the Flame Legion?
The Flame Legion charr fight to enslave the other legions. When they ruled Ascalon, they turned it into a wasteland.
Talk end option tango.png If they enslave others, then they're my enemy, too.

Approaching Galina Edgecrusher:

Trahearne: I dreamed of Orr, as Caithe did. But where she saw a dragon to fight, I saw a land to heal.
Trahearne: At least Caithe had a tangible target. I barely knew where to begin.
Galina Edgecrusher: Don't look at me, look at the enemy, you idiots! And keep firing!

Talking with Galina (cinematic):

If an Iron Legion charr:
<Character name>: Hey! Galina! Still fighting the good fight?
Galina Edgecrusher: Ha! I should have known you'd show up again, maker. Here with another invention?
Otherwise:
<Character name>: Legionnaire Galina Edgecrusher?
Galina Edgecrusher: What in Adelbern's gutted hide are you supposed to be? You don't look like reinforcements!
<Character name>: Better. I'm here with a challenge. Zhaitan's undead army has taken Claw Island, and we need your skills to defeat them. General Soulkeeper says you're the best.
Galina Edgecrusher: I am the best. But fight Zhaitan? Ha. Mists and mortars, I've got my hands full with these ember spirits. I can't go fight a dragon.
Galina Edgecrusher: My orders are to bombard that hill until that Ash-trash creeps up there and kills the shaman. At this rate, it could take months.
Trahearne: Where are they, then? With your bombardment distracting the Flame Legion, it should be an easy matter to sneak up that peak.
Galina Edgecrusher: The legion sent Snarl Backdraft to do the deed, but the lazy cur hasn't shown up. Wretched, good-for-nothing soot-furred lout probably went swimming.
Trahearne: You stay here and keep the bombardment going. We'll look for Snarl. He may have run into something he can't handle.
Galina Edgecrusher: We? There is no "we," twiggy. I'm not interested in a waterlogged Ash deserter. Do whatever you please.

Talking with Galina:

Galina Edgecrusher: Do you have a question, or can I get on with my artillery run?
Talk more option tango.png What's up with you and Snarl? You seem pretty annoyed at him.
Annoyed isn't the right word. Try exasperated. He's a handful.
Talk more option tango.png And yet you seem almost concerned.
Mind your own business, mouse! Just find him, and get him back here. For the mission's sake.
Talk end option tango.png I think I understand.

Talking with Trahearne:

Trahearne: The Ash scouts were headed toward the Flame Legion. Let's investigate the western area of the lake.
Talk end option tango.png That makes sense.

After entering the caverns:

Trahearne: Snarl and his warband must be down here somewhere.

Talking with Trahearne:

Trahearne: Separatists. Humans who ignore Queen Jennah's cease fire with the charr. They continue to cause havoc in Ascalon.
Talk end option tango.png I remember them from my time at Ebonhawke with Forgal.

Releasing Snarl:

Trahearne: There's Snarl. Looks like they need help, after all.
Snarl Backdraft: Ah, finally free! Of all the dumb luck. We were looking for Flame Legion, and found a hidden base of separatist punks.

After defeating the separatists (cinematic):

Snarl Backdraft: Ha! Stupid separatists, getting in the way of me killing Flame Legion! Seriously, I hate those guys.
If an Iron Legion charr:
Snarl Backdraft: Hey! What in the blue blazes are you doing here, maker? I heard you were put on reserve duty.
<Character name>: I've joined the Vigil, and we need your skills, Snarl. Zhaitan's armies overran Claw Island, and we need help to drive them back.
If not a charr:
<Character name>: Glad to help. You're Snarl Backdraft, right? General Soulkeeper says you're one of the finest scouts in the Ash Legion.
<Character name>: The Vigil needs your skills, Snarl. Zhaitan's armies overran Claw Island, and we need help to drive them back.
Snarl Backdraft: Claw Island? No! I was raised in Lion's Arch. There's no way I'm letting the city fall. Help me with this shaman, and I'll gladly join your fight.
Trahearne: That's excellent news! Do you think you can convince Galina to help us, as well?
Snarl Backdraft: That squeaky old crankshaft? Well...for Lion's Arch, I suppose I can put up with anything. Sure, I can make it happen.
Snarl Backdraft: Now, c'mon. We've got a shaman to roll before we move out.

Right after the cutscene:

Snarl Backdraft: There's a dry path out over there, but watch it. There's Flame at the top of those stairs.

Talking with Trahearne:

Trahearne: Snarl seems likeable. I hope we can work some magic with Galina.
Talk end option tango.png He certainly seems to think he can convince her. We'll see.

Talking with Snarl:

Snarl Backdraft: I really owe you one for coming to get us back there. Damn Seperatists.
Talk more option tango.png Where are the stairs?
Head right from where we were being held, and go all the way to the far right corner of the room. They're past the water cave, on the other side of the foundation wall.
Talk back option tango.png All right. Can I ask you another question?
Talk end option tango.png Gotcha. They sure don't make 'em easy to find, do they?
Talk more option tango.png What's with you and Galina?
She's a real sight isn't sh...I mean, that grumpy pig? Nothing. Nothing at all.
Talk back option tango.png Yeah. Anyway, I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png I get what you mean.
Talk end option tango.png Help me out at Claw Island and we'll call it even.

After getting to the stairs up:

Trahearne: The Flame Legion camp is up this hill.

After Exaerix Infernus appears:

Snarl Backdraft: Let's get that shaman!
Trahearne: The enemy is here. Defend yourselves!
Exaerix Infernus: Flame will consume you!

Talking with Snarl:

Snarl Backdraft: Flame Legion will be burning up the Mists from here on out. Nicely done.
Talk end option tango.png Exaerix never knew what hit him.

Talking with Trahearne:

Trahearne: Well done, <Character name>! With that Flame Legion shaman defeated, Snarl and Galina can come to our aid in Lion's Arch.
Talk end option tango.png If they don't tear each other apart first.

Talking to Galina Edgecrusher after defeating the shaman (cinematic):

Snarl Backdraft: Chalk up another dead fool of a Flame to the Ash Legion.
Galina Edgecrusher: To you...? You glorified sneak-thief! You'd never have gotten him without my bombardment!
Snarl Backdraft: Oh, you think so? Care to make a bet on that, fur-bucket? What say we go somewhere and see who tallies more enemy kills?
Galina Edgecrusher: I'll take that bet, Backdraft. You're as good as beaten. Name the place!
Snarl Backdraft: Claw Island, outside of Lion's Arch. Oh I see you've heard what happened there? Good. Then you know what we're in for...unless you're too scared?
Galina Edgecrusher: Scared? Me? Ha. I'll pile those undead muzzle-high, Backdraft. I'll see you at Claw Island, and we'll count our kills. (chuckle)
Trahearne: I have a request. We should visit the Pale Tree. The Mother has knowledge we shall need in the days ahead.
<Character name>: Of course, Trahearne. I think that would be wise.

After the cutscene:

Trahearne: Such brave people willing to risk so much. But do we even have a chance at victory?

Talking with Galina:

Galina Edgecrusher: Claw Island. Lion's Arch. This'll be a quick wager, and an easy victory.
Talk more option tango.png I like your enthusiasm, but don't underestimate the Risen.
I'm not underestimating them. I just know what Snarl and I can do when we're not arguing with each other. You'll see.
Talk end option tango.png I'll let you do what you do best.

Talking with Snarl:

Snarl Backdraft: I toldja I'd get Galina to come with us. Heh, heh.
Talk end option tango.png You certainly have a way with women.

Talking with Trahearne:

Trahearne: We should speak with the Pale Tree. She'll know how best to face Zhaitan's forces at Claw Island.
Talk more option tango.png What's the Pale Tree.
She is the memory of our people, the collected knowledge of generations.
Talk more option tango.png Do you think she can help us?
Talk more option tango.png Do you think she can help us?
I can think of no better place to begin this journey than the boughs of our Great Mother. We need her wisdom now, more than ever.
Talk end option tango.png I hope you're right.
Talk end option tango.png You're right.

My story[edit]

Quick and Quiet.jpg

Galina Edgecrusher and Snarl Backdraft were reluctant to work together, but we rescued Snarl—and he convinced Galina. They'll meet us at Claw Island for our attack against the armies of Zhaitan.

Notes[edit]

  • There are several Blood Legion soldiers in a firing line, fighting infinitely-respawning Embers, just behind Galina. These do not drop any loot, but do give experience when killed.
