Messed up page (?)

I have no idea how to make edits or if this is the right place to leave this message, but the warrior trait page got all jacked up today and there's only like 1 trait listed per trait line. Is it related to this info box change? Link: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_warrior_traits -Grateful Loyal Wiki User -- Edited for clarity.

Should be fixed, give the wiki a few hours to work through the job queue, then click on the "refresh" tab. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:45, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
It seems that the majority of trait pages are doing the same sort of thing now, with most trait tables being incomplete, including that warrior one again. 216.26.109.224 07:28, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Hello again IP, anything to do with trait pages being messed up will always be due to changes made to Trait infobox, which affects the categories + properties applied to trait pages. As you can see in the page history, we have a few users making "test" changes where they have submitted incomplete code + that has affected the trait list pages. (I admit that it isn't always other users making the changes that break things - I am sometimes guilty too :P) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 10:30, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Armor gallery formatting help

Hey, I removed side views from Template:Armor gallery to only allow front and back. Now, I have a few things that I need to ask you:

 1. Did I break anything?
 2. Could you tweak the template to completely remove "both" as an option, as the german wiki doesn't mush two genders into one, and it makes for easier formatting.
 3. Do something about the width of the images themselves, as it looks too spacious when used on pages, especially with asura galleries. Something similar to the way the german wiki put it up.
 4. After removing side views, all of the left and right screenshots put up over the years are now orphans. Could you track those down and slay 'em? They aren't appearing in unused files, since they're "technically" still on the respective armor pages. I'm assuming a null edit is required to make them show up.

That's all, I think. It'd be great if you could help me out with this, since I'm afraid of templates. Ventriloquist 09:34, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Ventriloquist, I fell victim over the last 36 hours to some really bad seafood so apologies for my late reply.
1. Nothing looks immediately broken, I'm sure we'll find some wierd usage cases later though!
3. Image height/width. Previously I'd set it to all have fixed heights (e.g. x250px) [whereas wiki defaults to widths (e.g. 250px)] because users typically uploaded images with random heights + widths + in order to put them beside each other and not look shoddy fixed heights was better. It shouldn't matter if you're uploading all of a set at once. Example using current images
Fixed heights:
Vigil's Honor armor (light) human female front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) human female front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) asura male front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) asura male back.jpg
Fixed widths:
Vigil's Honor armor (light) human female front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) human female front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) asura male front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) asura male back.jpg
Fixed widths aligned to bottom:
Vigil's Honor armor (light) human female front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) human female front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) asura male front.jpg Vigil's Honor armor (light) asura male back.jpg
I think it might be worth using different fixed widths or heights depending on the race. I would need one image with all of the races in at once in order to get an idea of the proper height/width scale between them all. (I don't have GW2 so dunno what they're supposed to be)
4. Special:UnusedFiles is sorted by upload date, so the files are there, but they're just a few pages in... like 2100+ -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:30, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. How come seafood is so popular amongst wiki editors? Anyway, the fixed heights look best because we shouldn't "discriminate" against races, that is, armor for norn and asura should be the same in height and width. It would be great to create some sort of "table" that would list a race and two genders in one line, then another race and two more genders in the others and so on; something similar to our current setup, but to add additional genders to a race (looking at charr and asura). Basically, we need to completely get rid of "both" genders as an option in the gallery formatting. Ventriloquist 12:06, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Dunno, the meat selection at my local supermarket is really poor so I go for fish... ;)
I've stolen the height formatting from the german wiki's template. Looks good to me. (I had no idea charr were so short...)
I'm going to try and figure out a way to apply Armor gallery image to the armor gallery files so that we can do lookups later.
Do the male/female asura/charr really look so different? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:13, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
I'd say around 30% of charr and asura armor is unique, with the others being shared. It's more about providing the most details when showing armors/outfits, and since I'm going to be uploading everything the german wiki has uploaded thus far, it would be useful to include both genders, which is currently not set on default, it seems. It would be also inconsistent to have some of the armors show different genders, and the other having shared ones. Ventriloquist 13:16, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
My original proposal was that we only show one race per armor :P (1/10th of the work...) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:17, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, you would still have individualized images for the other three races. Is the problem allowing both genders for asura and charr, or removing the previous template set-up? I'm a toddler when it comes to templates, so I'm not sure, heh. Ventriloquist 13:20, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Rounding up a list of the files is the main problem, templates are easy to fix. We can do a search + replace routine to replace the "both" sections on armor gallery pages with the split genders. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:21, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh, well, if you set up the template, the pages that currently show "both" will become red links, no? I can just upload male/female versions then, and you can round up anything with "both" in its file name. Ventriloquist 13:25, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Would you like me to sort that out before I cleanup the files? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:26, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
It'd be nice, since I haven't started on the armors just yet. Ventriloquist 13:27, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Halfway done with outfits. The outfit page still lists "both", might want to tinker that later, too. Ventriloquist 15:28, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Just a random comment here about charr sexual dimorphism - males are much larger and bulkier than females, so I think a lot of players (including my wife) would appreciate seeing how an identical armor skin is applied differently to their body types.
On the other hand... asura could be hermaphrodites for all the dimorphism they show. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:32, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Progress

4. I can now target the left/right images with which will make this much easier. We may decide to keep these spare images around though. I will however need to run the bot back over the files you uploaded between my starting the task + now so I don't miss any files out. The asura armor galleries will look really bare until you get around to uploading the asura/charr armor for male/females. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:55, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

I uploaded everything light-asura-armor-related to our wiki, there are some missing which I'm sure the german wiki will cover up eventually. I also replaced Asura light armor with "male" variants (instead of "both"). The table spreads out of the page now, so it'd be nice if it could be placed in two rows or something like that. I'm not sure what are your intentions with "both" images, but please don't let those abominations see the light of day again. I'll continue the project tomorrow. Ventriloquist 23:15, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm aware of the missing charr images, but the only images I could upload are the LQ ones. I could upload those, and then overwrite them when the project (eventually) reaches charr images, but it seems a bit redundant. I'll think over it some more. —Ventriloquist 12:48, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
I honestly hadn't noticed that the german project hadn't done charr yet. Totally not your fault. It probably means I shouldn't go and delete all those "charr both" images at the weekend though :D -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:34, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I've got an idea. I'll upload all of the files the german wiki currently has regarding charr armor, and you can fill in the holes with the currently orphaned files (reuse "both" for male and female, perhaps?) and then I'll eventually reupload them once we get HQ. Sound good? —Ventriloquist 20:13, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
As long as it is only the good ones then great. Otherwise needless effort.. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:13, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Uh, the Charr female light armor and Charr male light armor both list heavy variants, intentional or? Also, create the medium and heavy variant pages for me, please. —Ventriloquist 11:44, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Done with all the charr images that aren't low quality. I'll upload the fraction of the HQ images for humans, norn and sylvari so I have less work to do when they eventually complete the galleries. —Ventriloquist 12:02, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
I wasn't going to link to the new split charr male/female galleries until we had a complete set. The "both" gallery is perfectly servicable for the moment. I guess that I could move all of the images currently in the "both" gallery to "male" (or female) so that we get a complete gallery without "both" in the title. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 12:39, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I've got another request for ya. One of the bureaucrats from the German wiki just contacted me regarding credits for the images. I completely forgot about that with the armor gallery summary, so if you could somehow add a line to *EVERYTHING* I uploaded thus far, that'd be appreciated. I don't want my fingers to fall off. —Ventriloquist 13:51, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

Probably. Has every single image you've recently uploaded for armor galleries been from the german wiki?
Btw, I am not sure I agree about the removal of the acquisition tables on Heavy Plate armor. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:55, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
False alarm, apparently; Tera said it isn't necessary to add it to the old images. It seemed awfully cluttered for an overview of the armor set, and I think that it could look much better if we altered the skin pages to show every possible acquisition method for a set piece, rather than just mushing them all on the main page. —Ventriloquist 13:58, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Well just make sure you don't go removing acquisition before adding them to the individual pages :/ probably want concensus for this bit.
Was there some obvious division of labour between Chuibi and Dusk? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:00, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
I'll revert it for the time being, until I figure out a plan. I'm... not sure. I think that Chiubi takes them, and then Dusk edits them? I'll credit Chiubi in the ones I'm doing now, since she's the only that uploaded them to the german wiki, but we'll see what Tera responds. —Ventriloquist 14:02, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
The first image I checked was de:Datei:Drakonische Rüstung Asura Weiblich Vorne.jpg - which was uploaded by Dusk. :P -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:06, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, everything else appears to be done by Chiubi in the uploading department. —Ventriloquist 14:12, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Also, would it be easier for you to have me add the credit for all of the upcoming images, or would you rather like me to leave it empty for your bot? —Ventriloquist 14:12, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
If you wouldn't mind adding credit yourself for the images from here onwards that would be good. Probably link to User:Chiubi if you're individually thanking him/her. User:Stephane Lo Presti#Armor pictures and more weapon ones - February 18, 2015 seems to indicate the work is being done by Think + Chuibi.

Ah crap, interwiki links in the file namespace get put in the sidebar. Dunno what to do now. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:36, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh right. Colon before "de" in the wikilink. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:37, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Heh. So, Tera/Think (I thought they were two different people...) replied, and stated that both him and Chiubi were a part of the project. Dusk uploaded actual in-game images before they knocked the background out. Think said that we should just state Chiubi as the contributor, but I'd feel more comfortable if we added Think up there with her, too. So something like:

(Reset indent) Let me know once the bot is done, and I'll start with the sylvari armors. —Ventriloquist 14:55, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

It doesn't matter since you're adding the summary by yourself to the future images, the bot is only going over your old uploads that I've committed to a text file. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:56, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
I wanted to start clean, but fine... —Ventriloquist 15:00, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Yeah a talking bot. Damnit script worked fine 400x in a row, fails 12x. -AWB Alex User AWB Alex sig.png 15:07, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Ventriloquist, I dunno if its easier for you, but with images that you're replacing, your summary doesn't save to the page... would it be easier for you to just create a list of pages for me to add the summary to later? -AWB Alex User AWB Alex sig.png 15:21, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
What do you mean it doesn't save? —Ventriloquist 15:46, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
I just mean that if you think it is inconvenient to have to separately edit the page after uploading a replacement image, and that it would be more convenient to just create a list of pages to add attribution to later, we can do that. -AWB Alex User AWB Alex sig.png 15:54, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
When you upload a new version to an existing image, whatever you type in the "Summary" box just goes into the file history table, it doesn't replace the page contents. That only works on initial uploads of new images. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:33, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
@Alex It's fine, and hardly any trouble. ALT+shift+E works wonders.
@Ish I know that, which is why I didn't place the summary during the upload, but rather afterwards. —Ventriloquist 21:17, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

@Vent Well, you asked what Alex meant by "it doesn't save" so I was just answering...
@Alex Yep, I use them too. My favorite is J = whatlinkshere because on lower resolutions (like my work laptop), that link in the sidebar is off the bottom of the scree due to my custom "Command center" and "Search by prefix" additions. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:44, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

More progress

Alright, Chiubi & Co have been busy this morning and uploaded the rest of the asura armor, all of the female human armor and are currently uploading all of the male human armor. I've uploaded everything up to the heavy female armor, but since it's time for me to go class, I'm calling it for now. I'll continue tonight, just wanted to let you in on the progress. Also, some of the galleries were missing your fancy Armor Gallery box in their summary. If you find the time, it'd be nice if you could add the credits to the rest of the female heavy images (and maybe for the male human, although I uploaded some of those) that aren't uploaded yet, since it does make my job a bit easier... like you said it would. —Ventriloquist 11:39, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Trying to fix my blue screen of death tonight... suspect USB 3.0 drivers are involved. My brain isn't quite working at full speed tonight either, so questions:
Can you give me an example of a file missing the Armor gallery image template? I did check quite a few files + the number of them in Category:Armor gallery images sounds about right.
Did I read this right, you want me to add credits for images that haven't been uploaded yet? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:24, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Definitely the three orders' armors (example1, example2, example3), that's all I can think of at the top of my head. Nothing alarming, at least. Since I'm done with uploading today (won't have much time tomorrow either), I'm asking you to "run" ahead of me - add credits to the remaining images - which is the majority of the female heavy human armor, and the majority of the male armor, excluding the light weight, since there's only a couple of files needed there. Alternatively, I can compile a list, like you suggested before. —Ventriloquist 21:32, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
It looks like I started by generating the files from Property:Has armor gallery image - for some reason the armor gallery template didn't add any pages with apostrophes to it.. I shall go investigate. Thanks. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:48, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Apostrophes? Sounds like you probably need to use #titleparts. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:56, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
My thoughts exactly, although I'm not particularly sure why the apostrophes break the storage of links to files. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:57, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Needless to say applying titleparts has updated and added loads of files to User:Chieftain Alex/sandbox3. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:07, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
@Ventriloquist; I've now added the pre-attribution to female heavy armor, male heavy armor + male medium armor with my bot. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 23:14, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Alright, done with the entire human batch. Still some missing ones, but they'll cover those eventually. Your bot adding pre-attribution is extremely helpful, haven't detected any errors. Now we have to wait for the next armor - which I'm assuming is norn. Doot de doot. —Ventriloquist 00:05, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Great job. The human overview pages look brilliant.
Btw, any opinions on armor galleries? (this might need renaming...) The template would potentially replace multiple individual armor gallery templates with the one template.
I saw the eyesore at the bottom of Dry Bones armor - namely three nav templates, each with a divider, and have attempted to reduce the mess.
 1. Matched armor nav width with the generic nav width of 600px used by wide nav templates.
 2. Reduced margin + hid the lines generated by multiple hr lines between navigators.
I still hate the appearance of the craft armor nav. :( -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:11, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
I like it, it reduces clutter while editing; I can replace it in other pages as I go along. The crafted armor nav does look like a mess, any fancy ideas for fixing it up? :P —Ventriloquist 11:17, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
Not sure, the nav is laid out in a very logical way, its just not really the right size for a nav. Anyway there should only be one nav per page imo. >.> -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:19, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
But how else would you know a page belongs to thirty other categories!? It franky looks overwhelming, sure it's for ease of access, but at what price? —Ventriloquist 11:26, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
Nailed the template rewrite I reckon. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:54, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
Yep, looks great, no more navs poking out. —Ventriloquist 12:36, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Charrtastic screenshots incoming

We got all the charr armors ready for uploading, so I'm wondering would it be possible to move all existing images of charr "both" armors to female or male variants, so it cuts my uploading time in half. If not, I'll just do it the old fashioned way. Also, if you decide to do that, they need to be credited as well. Fun! —Ventriloquist 12:33, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm going to the beach shortly - and I'm on holiday until Sunday evening when I get back. I can do the credits when I get back no problem.
This means you'll be stuck on slow mode if you choose to do the images now. However, you could go to User:Chieftain Alex/sandbox4, 1) add the js at the bottom to your common.js file, 2) follow all of the links (use clumplinks browser extension or something). The pages will then all be renamed and moved if possible. Either way, those are all of the images we currently have in the both galleries. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 12:49, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I'll work something out. I won't add credits to any existing files, only the ones I upload clean, obviously. I'll leave the credits to you. Have fun on the beach and don't get eaten by a shark. —Ventriloquist 12:52, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Done. I overlooked the fact that the moved files have "both" as gender, so that's another thing to clean up after me. —Ventriloquist 13:12, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Good work.
I have a question on file naming schemes... the human, sylvari + norn pages have the weights in the names of the cultural armors (e.g. "File:Havroun armor light norn male front.jpg"), but the asura and charr files for cultural armors don't have the weights in. I think I prefer sticking the weight in the title, perhaps I should move all the files (3 sets per 3 weights, 2 genders, 2 orientations, asura + charr races (2*2*2*9 = 72 file moves)) to reflect this? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:40, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Less erratic names than I thought - only Asura heavy + medium left to do. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:15, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
I actually moved the original charr files to the weightless names, but if you feel like it's better with the weight, I don't mind. I'll probably finish all charr images tonight. —Ventriloquist 20:16, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Is the weight even necessary? A lot of armor sets that we previously had to distinguish between weights (e.g. Temple armor) received unique-by-weight names when the wardrobe/skins were introduced (Armageddon armor/Aurora armor/Rubicon armor). Are there any armor sets left that still share a name between weights? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:18, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
About half of the dungeon sets (Citadel of Flame armor, for example) and achievement-related armors such as Carapace or Heritage sets. —Ventriloquist 20:21, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Acknowledged. If I were starting this from scratch, I would make the set name in the filename match the set's pagename. That way the weight would only be in the filename where necessary - e.g. Draconic armor files would be named "File:Draconic armor human..." but Heritage armor (light) files would be named "File:Heritage armor (light) human..." Actually, it looks like those are already following my proposal - the Draconic files don't have weight, and the Heritage files use parentheses per the pagename. Why did the cultural armors get the weight without parentheses? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:03, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
As far as I know, those are the only cases where I've noticed that we listed weights in the file name, which is why I moved them, thinking it was a mistake. Alex added the weight parameter to the template on armor pages that are weight-specific, which seems redundant. Like I said, I don't mind it, but find it a bit odd and inconsistent. —Ventriloquist 21:11, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
As long as all the cultural pages do the same I'll be satisfied... It irked me that the cultural gallery sub-pages were using different file naming schemes. (even if we delete them like you did with the asuran ones) -86.137.72.34 00:16, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Aaaand done. Any file with "both" as its gender needs to be edited for credits and appropriate gender (only male ones are listed as both, though). If you need any more info, you know where to find me. —Ventriloquist 22:10, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Mismatched male files labelled with "both" fixed.
Attribution will be added after dinner to all remaining charr images uploaded after 25th of March.
Deleted left/right images for charr both + asura both. All the other races' left/right images are currently intact but will be deleted when I get around to it. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:05, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for cleaning up. I assume you haven't found a practical use for the left and right images? —Ventriloquist 20:07, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

only 6 images luckily. Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:33, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

It's that time of the month again. Norn images were uploaded to the german wiki, so it'd be nice if you could run your bot to add credits to existing norn images. There's only a few images that already have them edited (around 3 per weight), so leave those as an exception to the rule. I'll probably get on it later today/tomorrow, so no rush. —Ventriloquist 09:59, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Excellent. The bot is now running. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:39, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

The grand finale

It has come to this. Our hard working German friends have completed the galleries and have uploaded the sylvari galleries, which are also the last. It'd be great if you could repeat the procedure as you did with the norn ones. I won't be doing them at least until tomorrow night, so no pressure there. Unless you like pressure. In that case, faster! Also, thanks for everything you've done to make the galleries absolutely gorgeous. It was quite a journey. —Ventriloquist 21:08, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

The galleries are lovely now, superb job. :D
The robot is now running (country internet = slow automation @ 29 edits/minute). Also, thanks for adding the Armor gallery image template to all of those files, it really does massively simplify botting through them later. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:07, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Moving images from item name to wardrobe name

So, while you were away on holidays, I decided to jump into more skin organizing (I applaud all those who built the pages before). Namely, could you set your bot to move the Aetherblade images from the consumable name to the generic skin name?

I'm modelling the nomenclature after how Illustrious armor (light) was named, which is a far more natural and accurate name. I'm also planning on moving the galleries off of the consumable pages (e.g. Aetherblade Light Armor Skin). I fear I may be spending too much time on this, with far too many other skins to update. Thanks! G R E E N E R 01:35, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Hey Greener (on mobile here), I can sort that out when I get back on the 20th. Should be easy enough once I return. -81.136.232.216 09:08, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Fine with me, as long as nothing is lost in the transfer. I'd assume we'd have to do it for all the other skin sets from the Gem Store. —Ventriloquist 12:57, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
I'll try to get around to as many as I can. I won't move the galleries until the rename, of course. G R E E N E R 00:58, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Armor file lists for moving:
I'll do these once I've fixed the garden... -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:02, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
You know, this reminds me of the number of times I'd sit beside a data analyst, and while my algorithms would chug for 5 minutes on Excel, they'd have Access pump out the info in under 20 seconds. I always regretted not dabbling in SQL. I don't think I'll be getting to any more armour sets until Monday. G R E E N E R 17:00, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
I should add, no rush on getting these done. I'm thinking that I may want to have them done all at once, since I'll have to be adjusting links on pages such as Aetherblade Light Armor Skin, Asura female light armor, Aetherblade Light Vest Skin, etc. G R E E N E R 19:43, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
hopefully there shouldn't be too many links to correct.. although some of the files seem to be linked from individual pieces -_- -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:16, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
I've done the following:
 • Moved 180 files as asked
 • Corrected file set name on the file page
 • Updated file names and links on the armor set overview pages (the ones that show every set)
the consumable pages have a few individual links to files, these could be removed by bot.
also I'll see if I can fix armor galleries to work with the set parameter. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:57, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
I should give your bot a cookie. Sorry about the lack of "File" above, I'll just pretend I wanted to make your heart rate rise a little; it's a healthy thing to do. I knew about the Phoenix armour having the links, as they were my personal reminder to set up the links properly on the other skin infoboxes, so thanks for getting those. Having that armour gallery template work off of "set" is phenomenal!
Before I work on more skin sets, I want to build better relations between the all of the skins and consumables. I'm not sure yet which should take priority in the armour navs, the wardrobe skins or the item skins. Of course, having the Skin subspace would ease things.
Thanks for all of this work! G R E E N E R 06:21, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
Skin pieces definitely take priority over consumable/equips. For most pages I just put set pieces with the relevant skins because I was too lazy to create entire skin sets for armors, so I just left it at that. If we have skins, we can easily just slap on skin set table to further simplify things, like you've been doing for the improved Gem Store skins, which is great. —Ventriloquist 10:05, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
@ greener, latest batch done. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 10:22, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
As per your fifth run, I'm not sure when I'll be able to hop in-game to grab all the skin-links/proper names like I had been doing. Possibly tomorrow, but I'd give that only a 40% at best. Thanks for making the moves! 70.79.36.175 09:03, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
Erm... we have lists of these things already don't we? Chat link format/0x0B codes/Armor skins/Boots etc - the id is at the far left, and the skin name is the second column. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 09:06, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

I made an edit to Ambrite weapons

But I could not include "Cock"roach in the Overview section, I was trying to list out all of the specific fossils needed as I knew it was helpful for me and so thought it might be helpful for others that wanted an overview. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pixaul (talkcontribs) at 13:26, 28 February 2015 (UTC).

User move?

Hey Chief. This may be an odd question: but would it be possible to move an entire user and his userspace to a new name - or would that 'cause an unforgiving mess of potential broken links and redirects?
Reason I'm asking is that my nickname is "Titus", not Titus the Third. Though when I picked my name (back in gw1), Titus was already taken. Not that it mattered: because what I have is just Titus the First, Titus the Second, etc.. When I was choosing nicknames on other sites, like various forums and the wiki, I got used to using Titus the Third (which was my main, monk, in gw1). I see User:Titus is available, and this has bugged me for quite some time now, so I gotta ask. Though: I'll survive with the current situation if you think a move would generate a big mess :) Titus User titus the third.png 19:03, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

You would need a bureaucrat to rename your account - stick a request at the bottom of the Admin noticeboard. Unfortunately if you compare User:Titus and User:Titus2 you'll see that the first is registered to another user, despite that user's entire lack of contributions or appearances in the logs. Bureaucrats can delete other users though, so they might do it for you anyway. You'd be looking for something similar to Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Requests for user merge except you just want the b'crat to use Special:RenameUser (which neither you nor I can access). -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:09, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
If you're successful and they approve the rename, then I can do the cleanup if required. (I expect they would leave a redirect from "User:Titus The Third" to "User:Titus" so that the talk page links don't get need fixing too. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:35, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
That would be very much appreciated. I imagine you might do some good with your amazing bot skills :) Titus User titus the third.png 20:36, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

So guys I made a blunder after seeing the latest ask a wiki question...

... and bought GW2 for £9. I've always wondered if I would be disappointed by it, so I figured that the 75% discount period was the time to try it out.

A couple of basic questions while the client is downloading (27Gb still to download?!?...):

 • How many character slots do you get?
 • Which world should a new player choose who has no experience + lives in europe - does this make a difference with megaservers?
 • Assuming that I choose a warrior that can face-roll the keyboard for a while, norn or human (racial skills are afaik optional)?
 • Anything in particular that I should do early on other than avoid putting typos in my character names? :P

Advice appreciated. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:53, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Hmm so based on Extended Online Manual:
 • World selection doesn't matter unless I'm in WvW
 • ...and cccording to the last section there are thousands of users (no doubt invisible) on the wiki. Right. Sure.
-Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:06, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
Account tells you that you get 5 character slots. As you found, world only matters for WVW anymore. Norn all the way (my main is a norn warrior). I haven't made a new character since the NPE, so I have no clue what starting out is like anymore. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:31, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Welcome, Alex.
 • Initially five. Maximum of 64.
 • Worlds don't really matter with the megaserver system, other than WvW, so I'd choose the one that's best/good in WvW. Look here for the top list. I live in EU, but play on NA, so it doesn't really matter where you live, unless you want to play with players from a specific country.
 • Racial skills really have little benefit, even early on. The most common race for warriors is a norn, though (bigger armor).
 • Just don't follow the game too strictly. Don't just do hearts. Go wherever you want, if it interests you. Feel free to ask for more specifics, though. —Ventriloquist 14:38, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Alright, level 8 elementalist so far. Is there a way to tell which direction a foe is in (particularly ones that are already selected with "closest foe") other than tilting the camera? Feel like a bit of a muppet :P -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:21, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
The closest foe thing is a mess, so I wouldn't put much faith in it. Well, if it isn't on your screen it's behind you? Your character also tilts their head if the target is left or right, so I guess that helps. If your skills have a red line underneath them, then that means that a target (enemy only) is too far for the skill to hit. An unusual issue, Alex. :P —Ventriloquist 21:30, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Ho hum, no surprises that the ancient gw1 player is lazy.

It was you "losing" foes that was the clue - the skill bar you were playing with just confirmed it. With me, I always use the ranged option with squishies - and with pretty much everything else bar the warrior. Then again, I'm notably crap, so you can safely do the opposite of anything I suggest. :D — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 23:56, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Burning Speed was partially the problem yes. As long as I kill everything there isn't a problem. I've yet to find a key to "move to npc and interact" ... Guessing where they are and pressing f works but... meh.
Oh I also got lost in Hunter Block's lodge for a good 5 minutes :P could not for the life of me find the exit :D haven't died yet though some Skales gave me a good beating to 30hp or so. -77.96.94.164 00:21, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Because of the heavy reliance on positioning for combat, there is no "move to target" command in GW2 - it would make some melee-range skills too easy to use. Template:Map point

Once we add a description parameter for vistas, we should be able to go through and replace the waypoint templates with the correct information. Then we can stick the waypoints and vistas into subobjects. Not sure if you used the bot to do queries or did those kinds of edits manually.--Relyk ~ talk < 05:22, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

That template does a lookup for the map link id using Chat link format/0x04 codes etc. rather than storing any subobjects.
As long as the page has a decent layout, it should be possible to convert it to use the template since we're just swapping invocations of map icon for the map point template and grabbing the next wikilink. Whether our location pages are laid out consistently enough to bot it all remains to be seen. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:39, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
I know what the template does and I want to stop using subobjects on a subpage to store ids. All the area pages use the map icon template, there's nothing that "remains to be seen" >.> The vista descriptions can be fixed manually if that part is harder.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:49, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
I would propose a two step operation, to be carried out separately. The first would be to switch map icon to map point. (I would then run through manually and check everything still works)... and then run the bot later to subst the ids into the template. Are we happy with the template being called map point? (map?) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:41, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Map point seems slightly ambiguous. map objective agrees with the Has map objectives semantic. Poke would get mad and say map could refer to chocolate bunnies or something.-Relyk ~ talk < 11:26, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Map objective sounds good. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:43, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Template moved to "map objective". I'm going to play around with the formatting to see if I can get something that looks nice with regard to vistas and their associated explanations. (btw I can see that quite a few vistas are just called "Vista" on the location page - which is bad news for this template) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:29, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
Quite a few of the vistas in WvW are listed as having the same name on Chat link format/0x04 codes/The Mists - possibly need to give them unique names + a different canonical. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:39, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
That shouldn't be in issue though? They are located in different areas.--Relyk ~ talk < 01:51, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
It isn't a problem for inline id codes, but it is a problem for querying based on the name. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:04, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
Well the problem is you're querying based on the name. You query by name and location.--Relyk ~ talk < 15:22, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Character Template image

So yea, as I was trying to ask in game, I am just not understanding what you need to do to make the image show up for your template. I have a tiny idea, but I don't like jumping to conclusions. --Lustre Of Havoc 15:38, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Well you just need to upload the image at the "right" place...
I hope you don't mind, but I've created User:Lustre/Lustre Of Havoc as an example. In the space where the image is the text "No image detected. Consider uploading an image with the name "File:User Lustre Lustre Of Havoc.jpg" to sort this problem." appears until you upload an image. If you want to upload a .png image instead then you'd upload the file at "File:User Lustre Lustre Of Havoc.png" + add | image = User Lustre Lustre Of Havoc.png to the template on your page. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:09, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
So the BASEPAGENAME and SUBPAGENAME links are for each page of the character, and when you upload the image, it uses your account name and your character name to find the image with that same combination? As far as uploading a photo goes, I guess it's just a matter of trial and error. You'll have to correct my mistakes if I make any. Also, I didn't want to steal your idea, I was just trying to figure out how the coding worked. --Lustre Of Havoc 16:52, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
The mediawiki term for BASEPAGENAME + SUBPAGENAME is "magic word". Effectively they are my username + my character name yes, but really they just look at the following title string:
User:Chieftain Alex/Deathly Dancer
These particular magic words break the title string on the colon after the namespace (which happens to be "User"), and on the first forward slash which signifies that the page is a subpage of another.
NAMESPACE:BASEPAGENAME/SUBPAGENAME

Ah, I understand a little better now. Can you recommend a place to go that teaches wiki code more in depth? Like how to build boxes and position them like you did for your template? I'm good at figuring things out from what's here, but I think I would learn a little faster with the basics explained. I'm a hands-on learner, but I learn even faster if I've got someone next to me showing me. Since I don't know anyone IRL who does wiki code, I can only hope they use words VERY well on some site. --Lustre Of Havoc 17:06, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

I was looking at your mini template again, and found that couple minis are missing. I tried to refresh their pages, but it does not make them show on the template. Maybe it has to do with the Temporary content category?
Here are the missing minis: Mini Bloody Prince Thorn, Mini Candy-Corn Elemental, Plush Griffon, Princess Doll, Toy Golem, Toy Soldier and Toy Ventari. --User Maplemist Elementalist Icon.pngMaplemist 07:31, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

table alignment

User:Relyk/SMW/tonic, maybe it's something with the row template?--Relyk ~ talk < 19:54, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

something is seriously messed up there yes. The table is appearing under completely the wrong header...
removing the newline at the end of the arraymap and using the double pipe template has made the tables appear below each other.
I've also found a stray pipe in the switch statement that wasn't helping. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:44, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

ok the inter-row stuff is now ok. The only glitch is that the style="text-align:center" stuff is appearing instead of the formatting. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:35, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
I've gone back to ancient formatting with nowiki tags to enforce newlines inside #ifeq statements. Everything works but the code is ugly :( -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:50, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
User:Relyk/sandbox/Sandbox2, replacing the style formatting with an align and adding whitespace fixes the parsing. I'm not sure why the search label is popping up when the limit is defined.--Relyk ~ talk < 22:00, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Geode Merchant Images

You were correct that most of the images recently deleted were redundant. However, File:Geode Merchant Tier 3.jpg was not to my knowledge. It was referenced by Geode merchant that now indicates it is missing. File:Geode merchant.png was referenced by 4 different pages Dusk (NPC), Gleam, Kiena and Moonglow, which all now show a "lock" symbol instead of the intended image. Please indicate how these issues are best resolved. The remaining images were unsuccessful attempts to get { { vendor|geode } } to work properly. Instead, I am forced to use a work-around. ~ 1Maven (talk) 21:49, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Bot request

Please, can you make a bot to add the tier parameter to tiered containers? Just need tiers 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of:

 • Supply Bag
 • Miner's Bag
 • Stolen Supplies Bag
 • Ritual Bag
 • Bag of Trinkets
 • Bag of Supplies
 • Thorned Bag
 • Treat Bag
 • Bag of Booty
 • Moldy Bag
 • Bag of Skritt Shinies
 • Icy Bag
 • Loot Bag

So I don't flood RC and I'm not bored. Raljeor (talk) 16:02, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

This type of thing belongs on GW2W:BOTS, not my talk page :/
Besides, a) I don't think the tier is an official description, b) did you discuss this somewhere before making a large number of edits? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:42, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
Tiers have long been established for these items so adding the parameter would be fine, but we need to be specific about the containers. Maybe identify they are part of a racial bag set. Same goes with salvage items if someone gets around to it. Champion loot bags also follow the tier pattern but explicitly define the tier by rarity.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:12, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

day and night table

Trying to clean it up, User:Relyk/sandbox/daynight. I can't the math work hue.--Relyk ~ talk < 02:56, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Think I've spotted all your errors.
 • Adding 25 to ((#vardefine:cycle)) just makes it think the time is 25 minutes later than it actually is. So if the time is 00:25, it'll calculate a value of 50 and decide it's the middle of the day instead of the start of dawn. Raljeor changed it to -25 for you though, I think that fixes it.
 • ((#var:cycle)) > x and ((#var:cycle)) < y needs to be >= x or it'll stop working for 1 minute at the start of every new phase.
 • I'm not sure what your goal is with all the "stage" stuff, but I'll point out that if you're trying to get the current cycle and not the number of 100% completed cycles, you need ceiling instead of floor.
--Idris (talk) 10:08, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
I've put together User:Chieftain Alex/sandbox3, forgive me for ignoring everybody else's code until mine was complete. Looking at your sandbox code, #time:U might be more bulletproof than #time:i, but there won't be much in the way of difference. The only advantage to #time:U (imo) is that you don't have to think about the 25 minutes past midnight reset time. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:19, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Aw dang, that's cool. Great job. :) Noob question: how come you hard-coded the date of 11 May 2015? --Idris (talk) 19:30, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
That's not a noob question at all, it is a random date which is guaranteed to be before any future usage of the template that happens to be at the reset time. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:32, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I think I get it. I was wondering why you bothered with a date at all and not just the time, but then I realized what #time:U is. :p --Idris (talk) 19:44, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Ascended Equipment improvement

One place in Frequently Asked Questions states that ascended equipment gives a 6% improvement over exotic, another 10%. Which is correct? ~ 1Maven (talk) 14:24, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

It's actually 5%, I don't know where Alex got 6%. 10% is completely off. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:19, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
I based it off weapon strength relative to basic weapons: ((175% - 165%) / 165%) = 6% improvement. Relative to exotic it will be less. -149.254.250.115 18:00, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Aha. The comparison commonly cited is relative to exotic, since most people will already have mostly-exotic level 80 gear before they consider upgrading to ascended. And the 5% comes from comparing the numbers directly, i.e. greatsword max weapon strength is 1100 -> 1155, and 55 is exactly 5% of 1100. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:18, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Dyrala Ogrestalker

Hello,

I messaged Louise on their wall about their edit which resulted in a move template being placed at the top of the Dyrala Ogrestalker page, but they didn't remove their move template even though there was evidence (screenshot) displaying the correct NPC name. It appears that the edit Louise didn't revert resulted in you moving the page to an incorrect location and thus misspelling the NPC's name in the process. I've gone in-game and taken more recent screenshots (taken 5/15/15) to prove that the character's name is "Dyrala Ogrestalker" and not (as it is displayed on the wiki currently) "Dylara Ogrestalker". If you would be able to revert the page's move I would be grateful and if any further screenshots are needed to clarify the correct spelling of this NPC's name I'm more than willing to take additional screenshots and/or escort someone to the NPC's location to verify the spelling.

Emailformygames (talk) 07:40, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello. Yes your screenshots do rather indicate that Louise's edits were incorrect!

drop table

Working on a rewrite and got a generic form working: Special:FormEdit/Drop_rate_table_header/User:Relyk/SDR. Not exactly usable past 2-3 entries...--Relyk ~ talk < 09:23, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

I can push my rewrite as soon as it's backwards compatibility. Other issue is I don't think we will be generating the drop rate graphs or that we need to create the subobjects. We should be able to create a form for editing the header and have to create an embedded form specific to that table, a generic form doesn't seem usable.
We could have a hook for adding new rows to the table and avoid displaying the current entries because using the form is inconvenient for that task anyways. That would also remove the need for creating specific forms.--Relyk ~ talk < 01:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Image attributions of selected clothing tonic image file pages by the bot User:AWB Alex

Hello there, I've seen that the bot added the credit lines used on the armor gallery image pages to a few sylvari clothing tonic images I provided. Yo

You did the exact opposite of my request and now you fucked the parameters up with replaces the dashes in zone infoboxes. Last time I checked, the wiki doesn't use shit like endash and emdash in parameters. Those kinds of characters force people to copypaste the character because they don't have a key for it or embed the html code for the character in the parameter. That's the template's job. In addition, you changed the infobox to match this change with no fucking discussion and I don't think you had a clue what I was talking about on the bot request. Even after multiple comments and replies.

"meh. a) your code didn't work for claw island, and b) the upper level wasn't set for single value locations." First of all, Claw Island was wrong in the first place. Maybe you should have checked or asked about it before making that change to the infobox. Second, this is for zones, there are no "single value locations", those are areas. That's why that section of code specifically applies to zones. Any single value should be converted to a range on a zone. This had nothing to do with my request either, as it was simply changing the ndash to a dash. The bot request page wasn't appropriate for that type of discussion, formatting changes would be discussed on the template page.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:47, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

I understood you perfectly relyk, I just thought your suggestion was completely unnecessary given the low frequency of the addition of new location pages with endashes. The various pages using level ranges now have the exact same format so it should be easy to parse.
I'm going to give you the opportunity to fix your template logic which is resulting in level ranges with question marks per User:Chieftain Alex/sandbox3 (see column 2), e.g. "Dry Top: 80 (?)".
A level range of "80 – 80" is an eyesore + I would much prefer it to be smart enough to only show "80" in that case.
If you choose not to fix your code I'll revert some of the most recent edits later. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:29, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
I still don't agree with you on replacing endash with - signs but whatever let's not disagree about something so trivial as to affect a single character of wikicode on only 15 pages.. >.>
The infobox needed to be coded such that the result displays properly AND stores the SMW range fully without ? marks. Apparently I'd missed out the "echo" bit on the second line which may have been what you were so angsty about. >.< doh. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 09:17, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Displaying 80 instead of 80-80 is an obvious change, you are arguing with yourself there. The plan is to add the range to WvW maps along with dungeons and scaling zones like The Crown Pavilion (zone) for a uniform property. The only reason there aren't min level and max level parameters, thus avoid anyone whining about hyphens, is to reuse the levels parameter. Of course, none of this gets discussed because you instead go off and make an issue out of whether we use fucking hyphens or endashes in a parameter. So yeah, call me angsty because I asked for help on making some trivial changes and you breaking the code I wrote while avoiding any discussion.--Relyk ~ talk < 14:27, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Talk:Elegant Huntsman's Backpack

Alex, sweetie, darling... We don't joke about blocking people (except maybe occasionally with very good friends in private). It is one of those great unspoken rules of adminship. Frankly, I don't consider jokes in edit summaries a great idea anyway, but that's a bit of personal preference. We also don't bring our adminship into content discussions, as admins aren't supposed to have any more say over content discussions than anyone else and it can unfairly sway people from listening to the non-admins' arguments. I noticed that on this edit [1] to Essence of Luck (rare) and [2] to 12 Slot Bag, you placed the category below the interwiki links. Because Property:Has equipment supertype is redundant with the item type properties we use on item subtypes.--Relyk ~ talk < 20:33, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

The optimal solution would be to set type and subtype correctly, e.g. type/subtype would be trinket/accessory, weapon/sword, armor/chest, etc. (Back items have no subtype.) But there's probably a ton of stuff that would break if we changed that. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:59, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

help maybe?

I can't figure out how to include clear on the specialization pages (to allow the new spec icons to float) without adding vertical whitespace unless I append it directly after the intro text. I thought MW only wrapped things with a <p> if you left two line breaks in the wikicode, but for some reason it's forcing one there if I put the clear on its own line, no matter what I do. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:48, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Actually, better question: why does our clear use a <br>? Wikipedia's version uses a <div>, and GuildWiki converted to that back in 2008. MW never wraps a div with a p, so if we converted, it would fix my issue. Is there any reason we shouldn't? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:11, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Ah I think I wasn't clear in my edit summary - I preferred the STDT table (with {| + |}) to the nav using divs. However fixing the CSS certainly improved it :)

The historical extension question only didn't get a response because they gave a damn about rendering large amounts of data, so just hiding the div wasn't sufficient for them. We're talking about small amounts of text for our own purposes at least - assuming you're asking because of text feedback or something. I'm sure you know that the forms with popular items such as trick or treat bag research had to be manually archived after a few entries because it takes ages to render so many icons - I didn't find a way to avoid loading those no.
If all you want is to hide text (read: quick to load), then didn't we do what you're asking for with all of the halloween/wintersday drop research forms? e.g. Form:Child's Trick-or-Treat Bag research uses:
{{Custom CSS|form|css=
div.multipleTemplateInstance.multipleTemplate { display:none; }
}}
Because the form directly sets visibility of each <div class="multipleTemplateInstance multipleTemplate"> element when you press add, you can hide all instances of it with CSS because it will be over-ruled. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:31, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't expect the feedback entries to have a massive number of entries unlike data tables like drop research. I was also thinking about wrapping in an expandable table instead of hiding the instances.--Relyk ~ talk < 03:23, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
