Ambient dialogue[edit]

Between Amoxtli, Savio and Kitabu.
Explorer Amoxtli: So you're both from Divinity's Reach. Were you there when Scarlet attacked your city?
Explorer Savio: Yeah. I was there for the Queen's Jubilee.
Explorer Kitabu: I wasn't home, but I lost a cousin in her attack on the pavilion.
Explorer Amoxtli: Someone very special to me was killed when Lion's Arch fell.
Explorer Saviio: If she wasn't dead, I would've assumed that Scarlet was behind this Zephyrite mess, too.
Explorer Amoxtli: Why do you think Steward Gixx chose the three of us to explore region?
Explorer Savio: I just assumed he was trying to get rid of us.
Explorer Amoxtli: I don't think so. The steward has always been good to me.
Explorer Kitabu: Savio was kidding.
Explorer Savio: I was? Oh! I mean, of course I was.
Explorer Savio: What do you make of these centaurs? You figure we can trust them?
Explorer Kitabu: They aren't what I was expecting. Generations ago, this region's centaurs were hostile.
Explorer Amoxtli: Their chieftain claims to follow ancient traditions that predate even Ventari. I enjoyed talking with him.
Explorer Kitabu: This tribe is an important find. We could get enough material from them to publish a lifetime of papers.
Explorer Savio: Guess it could be a lot worse, then.
Explorer Amoxtli: There's something about humans I don't understand.
Explorer Savio: (snort) This should be interesting.
Explorer Kitabu: Quiet. Go on, Amoxtli.
Explorer Amoxtli: Each morning I see my god rise in the east and set in the west. I feel Zintl's warmth on my skin...
Explorer Kitabu: Oh, I see. You're wondering how we feel about the remoteness of our gods?
Explorer Amoxtli: That's it, exactly. I read that they used to be more present in your lives?
Explorer Kitabu: They still are. We feel their blessings every day. They lend is their strength, their power.
Explorer Amoxtli: I...think I understand now. Thank you.
Explorer Savio: (laugh) In that case, maybe you can explain it to me.
Explorer Savio: What do you two think? Should we turn back, brief Gixx on what we've seen?
Explorer Amoxtli: The steward sent us to explore, and there's still more to discover out here.
Explorer Kitabu: We need to learn as much as we can about these lost places. Who knows what could be important?
Explorer Savio: I guess it's decided, then. We press on, find out what we can.
Explorer Amoxtli: How is it that your tribes were ever able to unite in one great nation?
Explorer Kitabu: It's not as if we had any choice.
Explorer Savio: Our other...tribes were cut off long ago, and Kryta's been under attack from all sides for generations.
Explorer Kitabu: I grew up generations removed from my tribe.
Explorer Kitabu: Shouldn't we talk about what those things were that destroyed the town, or where all these vines are coming from?
Explorer Savio: Pretty obvious what we're dealing with.
Explorer Amoxtli: Yes. I grew up under constant attack by the Risen. I know dragon minions when I see them.
Explorer Kitabu: The steward had his suspicions. That's why he sent us out here. It's one thing to discuss theories, but...
Explorer Savio: Tyria's in trouble again. And we're headed right into the teeth of that trouble.
Explorer Savio: I notice your notes are all full of doodles in the margins. Some of them aren't bad.
Explorer Kitabu: You read my field notes?
Explorer Savio: Yeah, it wasn't easy, either. You always carry that book around with you, so I had to wait until you were sleeping.
Explorer Kitabu: That's...You really thought my sketches weren't bad?
Explorer Savio: What can I say? I like a book with pictures in it.
Explorer Amoxtlii: Well, I think it's nice that you keep a journal, Kitabu.
Explorer Savio: (laugh) Dear Diary, Savio was mean to me again today...
Explorer Amoxtlii: (laugh)
Explorer Kitabu: You really did read it!
Explorer Kitabu: Sometimes I wonder if I joined the right order.
Explorer Savio: A bookworm like you? (laugh) I can't imagine you without access to the Priory library stacks.
Explorer Kitabu: It's just...those stories about Order of Whispers agents having their own secret ways of getting around...
Explorer Savio: At least half of what you hear about them is rumour they spread to make themselves sound more spooky.
Explorer Amoxtlii: What would you do if you could go anywhere you wanted?
Explorer Kitabu: I have some ideas, believe me.
Explorer Savio: (laugh) Maybe you would fit in with those creeps after all.
Explorer Kitabu: It's a good thing you taught us those Zephyrite skills. We would have never made it out this far.
Explorer Savio: Ah, you two would have picked them up. Those poor people and their magic crystal splinters are scattered all over this wasteland.
Explorer Amoxtlii: Their flying ship must have been gigantic. What a waste. So many wonders senselessly destroyed.
Explorer Kitabu: In your interviews with crash survivors, did either of you get the impression they were hiding something?
Explorer Amoxtlii: What could those people have to hide? Everything they had is lost in these sands. They have nothing now.
Explorer Kitabu: That's just it, though. I feel like they had something else beside these crystals we've been helping them recover. Something they don't want to share.
Explorer Savio: Something like what?
Explorer Kitabu: I'm not sure. Think about it, though. Why was the sylvari saboteur chasing after their Master of Peace down here on the ground?
Explorer Kitabu: What if their master took something away from the crash? Something the saboteur wanted to get his hands on?
Explorer Savio: Or maybe he just wanted to finish the job. He wasn't right in his mind, remember.
Explorer Savio: You hear Scarlet found a ley line hub out here in Dry Top, long before she tore up Lion's Arch looking for another one?
Explorer Kitabu: No!
Explorer Amoxtlii: What's a ley line hub?
Explorer Kitabu: There's an old idea that currents of magic run under and all over Tyria. Where the streams cross, those locations hum with power.
Explorer Savio: They say Scarlet was trying to map those currents with the probes she set up everywhere.
Explorer Amoxtlii: If there are rivers of magic connecting Lion's Arch with this place, and then further west...
Explorer Savio: That must be why everyone heard the dragon's roar from this direction where her drill made contact under the bay.
Explorer Savio: What'd you say those huge trees were called that used to grow in the Maguuma? Stone somethings?
Explorer Kitabu: Stonewoods. Did you do any research at all before we set out across Dry Top?
Explorer Savio: Of course I did!
Explorer Savio: Okay, no. I like to pick things up as I go.
Explorer Amoxtlii: The sylvari legends say the tallest stonewood in the jungle grew in Ventari's Refuge.
Explorer Savio: Wonder if it could still be there. Hard to picture jungle after weeks in all this sand.
Explorer Amoxtlii: I can barely remember the color green.
