Is it possible to add the mechanism for this map bonus reward. How many events/JP are necessary to get one reward ?
- I spent a little time mucking around in cursed shore for the powerful blood, but I couldn't tell whether I got the reward after time gated intervals or after every 2nd/3rd event that I did. It really was difficult to tell. My assumption though is that after every 5 or so minutes, you can qualify for a reward, and doing the needed thing (jp, event etc) will net you the reward. - I have a mesmer at the Aetherblade jumping puzzle chest, which I open every day. Every 2 days or so, I get a map bonus reward with the "event" completion awarded for opening the chest. I usually open the chest right after logging in the character. So I'm guessing the map bonus rewards are awarded after a certain amount of events completed, regardless of the time you take to complete them.

- I vaguely remember the devs saying these would be like the PvP reward tracks (sorry, no source), which would explain their unevenness. The info currently on the page seems to back this up. SarielV 00:25, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
- The information on when you get rewards is wrong. Sometimes I will get a reward from back to back events (rare), other times it takes several events, my longest streak being 4 events before getting the reward. For example, a recent list of reward/no reward from one map over a couple of days (not crossing the reset time, 0 = no reward, 1 = reward): 0,1,0,1,0,1,0,0,1,1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,0,1,0. I'm guessing that after a reward is given, the chance for getting a reward on the next event is a smallish % (less than 50% I'd guess), and each event you don't get a reward adds to the probability of getting the next one, until it reaches close to 100%. - Since the article is using "Map Bonuses", the article should probably be "Map bonus" or "Map bonuses". The term is so generic I'm confusing it with map completion rewards. Still better than bonus chests, which refers to multiple different rewards. Or map bonus reward works fine... - The idea of regions was simply to give a huge list slightly more structure. With the implementation of a table, this becomes less necessary imo. I have altered the table to have separate rows for every item, each listed with their zone. Thus users can sort by zone to see what you can get there, or by item if they are looking for zones that grant that item as a reward. Table could probably use some cosmetic formatting (my lack of table-fu is showing), but it seems a useful improvement over the current list so I am editing the page. - Were you looking for just alphabetical? Or were you wanting to sort by regions (e.g. Kryta) or levels (e.g. 25-40)? G R E E N E R 20:50, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Post-release
Looks like they removed ectos and obsidian shards from the loot tables, can't say I blame them. This does however mean that this page is out of date. -Chieftain Alex 09:57, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

Information Upload....
I Have a lot of info to upload, but the site seems to not like so much information on one page. I guess I can create a template for each map table then reference the templates on this page and on each map page by the templates... I just need to work more on how to make templates. - Yeah.... that'll never work. The {{item icon}} template is, surprisingly, very computationally expensive, and the server gets a bit nauseous when it has to process more than ~500 of them on a single page. I suggest splitting them out to one subpage per zone, i.e. [[Map bonus reward/Brisban Wildlands]] etc. Then just put a list of links to those subpages here (transcluding templates doesn't reduce the computational effort required). —Dr Ishmael 04:09, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

- edit, reddit searching found this post. Guess these are what you used, still, any clarification on "points" would be cool.

- 100 points awarded per event/activity completed.
- Map bonus every 200 points, or every second event.
- Map "points" are counted per map and on an account basis [example: character A enters Southsun Cove does 1 event (get nothing), character A goes to Lion's Arch, character B on same account goes to Southsun Cove and does 1 event (total of 2 events = 200 points = 1 map reward given)].
- Map "points" are reset at the usual reset time on monday

Is there anyway to make this page List the current week, and perhaps list what the rewards are for each map in that reward cycle.
Currently you have to come to this page, go to a random map, go back to game look @ random maps reward, come back to random maps page to figure out week, go to all of the other maps to see if they have a reward you want.

- Your comment seems to have been added here after I added a substantial purple table for all zones showing the first five rewards for the current week (most of the rewards repeat themselves after a few points, with a few exceptions) - does your comment remain relevant to the current state of the page? Feedback 2015/11/20
Something is off with the listing of expected rewards, versus actual rewards. For instance, I spent the other day ( Wednesday) in cursed shore, largely being rewarded Vicious Claws, as I would expect. Yesterday (a Thursday) I spent time in Fireheart Rise, getting Powerful Bloods, which I had seen on the map as a reward for that map. The data presented here suggests that this is in fact supposed to be next week's rewards in Fireheart Rise. No clue as to why Cursed Shore is supposedly on Week 6, and Fireheart Rise is supposedly on week 7, but, for me, ingame, that is what is there. --86.182.70.198 20:20, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

- I thought that I had found information that the changeover day was Monday, but I've changed the templates to use Thursdays as the changeover day. Let's see if that fixes the problem. -86.137.119.202 02:09, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
- The main page still says monday tho. Added the possibility to use Pact Scout's Mapping Material to gain points and that the guild boost doesn't affect these tokens.

Diminishing returns
I've never heard any mention of DR affecting map bonus rewards, and I havn't felt it to be an issue in Cursed Shore, but I just spent time in Frostgorge and not only did the event DR hit really hard very quickly, but I stopped getting any map rewards for a run of over 8 events before I stopped. - There's a weekly cap. Each map has a fixed track of rewards. Once you go through all rewards of a map's track. The map gives no more rewards until next week. I don't remember when does it reset. MithTalk 22:01, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

- The weekly cap is per map. There's currently no way to know the current progress of the map, and the panel that shows 'next reward' and 'other rewards' under the map completion tooltip in the world map disappears before the rewards are used up, I guess that's a bug. The next reward will still appear next to the map's name, though.MithTalk 02:26, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Estimating proft per map
I'm not all that well versed in how the wiki works (yet), but would it be possible to add a row in the bottom of the page with the full rewards listed? Far as i can see, the wiki is already set up to query TP price data. - Hi. It's surprisingly quite an expensive calculation for the wiki to list all the results for all the maps for the current week. We could probably figure something out though.
- As an example:
- 40 rewards for each map
- 25 maps (only 21 of those which we have data for, missing HoT zone rewards)
- If we showed an icon for each (we probably wouldn't), then we'd end up with 40*25 = 840 icons to lookup. Otherwise:
- About 4 API queries with 200 ids each to get the TP buy/sell price for each unit.
- Plus we don't yet have a widget to sum and multiply retrieved TP prices.
- My hunch would be that any map rewarding Shiny Bauble is the best one to go for. (so this week Frostgorge Sound looks pretty good with Silk + Baubles.) -Chieftain Alex 18:12, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

- I don't think we've correctly determined the reset time/day of the week yet. Current theory was that it reset at 00:01 UTC on Thursday - this might be wrong. I'm guessing that the reset is either later on today (thursday), or completely wrong..

- Ok - right now - the ingame map bonus rewards for Brisban Wildlands are { Shiny Bauble, Glacial Sliver, Pile of Glittering Dust, Pile of Shimmering Dust}. - As best as I can tell the {{Map bonus reward data}} isn't complete for week 8 in Kessex (the first section only does rewards up to 6400 points). I'm not sure where the initial data was pulled from, so I cannot complete the last few lines G R E E N E R 19:35, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

To summarize the research that caused my edit:
I logged in after weekly map bonus reset and went to FGS to farm events with my ele, I got 19 rewards on him. After about 10 rewards I noticed I'm not getting one after every other event which got me thinking that there is some kind of DR involved. Then, I logged in to my war and continued farming events, I got 14 rewards on him and as before I noticed that I start to get rewards less often. Last 7 rewards I got on my ranger. After that (19+14+7=40 rewards) I continued on to see if map bonuses have weekly cap of 8000 points but I started getting rewards from the top of the table. I also want to notice that i was getting the rewards in exact order as they are in wiki.
I'm not yet sure if DR is map or specific event dependent but when I was hit by it, I noticed that I got the rewards on events that I did for the first time or did them less often than other events (this could be a pure coincidence though). That's why I think there is neither daily nor weekly cap on map bonuses. -- Mathinus (talk) 00:58, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
