Obsidian armor is a legendary armor set exclusive to the Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure expansion. Each weight class of Obsidian armor has a unique appearance. Once obtained, the armor's apperance can be upgraded into Suffused Obsidian armor, which has extra visual and combat effects.
Acquisition of the Obsidian armor sets is linked to Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure PvE content, and involves obtaining and crafting various materials throughout the expansion.
Acquisition[edit]
- Once Obsidian Armor Crafting is mastered Recipe: Legendary Obsidian Armor can be purchased from Lyhr for 50 .
- With the recipe learned the armor pieces can be crafted by a level 500 (depending on the armor weight) but only in The Wizard's Tower. Alternatively, Lyhr can assist with the crafting for an additional cost of 10 Globs of Ectoplasm per piece.
- Crafting Obsidian Armor pieces requires unlocking Astral Ward and Oneiros-Spun armor skins of the respective type (e.g. shoulders). This generates additional cost in terms of Amalgamated Rift Essences and various other materials, but doesn't need to be repeated when crafting other armor weights.
Material list[edit]
The table below shows the ingredients required to craft one piece of Obsidian Armor. A full set of one weight class consists of six pieces.
- ^ Headgear, Shoulders and Chest armor require a Gift of Magical Prosperity, while Gloves, Leggings and Boots armor require a Gift of Mighty Prosperity.
- ^ a b c d e f g h The 8 different Gifts can be crafted by a level 400 after buying recipes (10 each, 80 total), or acquired through Lyhr's assisted crafting for an additional cost of 10 Globs of Ectoplasm each, 240 Globs of Ectoplasm for a set of armor. Consider that buying the recipes is a one time cost for the account and can be used for future legendary crafting.
- ^ Be careful not to refine Amalgamated Rift Essence into Purified Rift Essence unnecessarily. Currently, there is no way to revert this.
- ^ Amalgamated Rift Essences can be crafted any level 400 crafting discipline after buying a recipe for 50 or acquired through Lyhr's assisted crafting for an additional cost of 10 Globs of Ectoplasm each or additional 720 Globs of Ectoplasm for a set of armor. It is highly advisable to craft the items yourself instead of contributing to Lyhr's ecto gambling fund.

Notes[edit]
- Although a Purified Rift Essence is listed in the A Legendary Path: Astral Gifts achievement, it is not required as a direct ingredient. Instead, it is indirectly required to obtain the Arcanum since it is needed to purchase the respective Astral Ward armor and Oneiros-Spun armor pieces.
- Unlike every other Legendary equipment, the final recipe is a regular Crafting recipe that uses either Armorsmith for the Heavy set, Leatherworker for the Medium set or Tailor for the Light set with the respective discipline at 500, instead of a Mystic Forge recipe. If you don't have any crafting discipline, once you've purchased the recipe from Lyhr, you can buy the armor pieces from Lyhr with an added cost of 10 Globs of Ectoplasm per armor piece.
