Flame Legion
From Guild Wars 2 Wiki
The Flame Legion, also known as the Gold Legion, is one of the four charr High Legions. Resident in the citadel of Hrangmer, they are religious zealots and are the masters of magic among the charr. Once the dominant influence on charr culture and actions they are now outcast from the rest of charr society.
With the rise of their new god, Gaheron Baelfire, the outcast Legion are now powerful enough to challenge all the other Legions of the charr at once.[1]
[edit] History
| | The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on the Flame Legion. |
The Flame Legion first took power over charr society centuries ago after discovering the Titans in the fires of Hrangmer. It was here the Flame Legion built their capital city and worshiped the Titans as gods. They used the Titans as an opportunity to subjugate the other charr legions under their rule by using them to gain support from the other legion's Shamans. This resulted in the formation of the Shaman Caste who ruled over the charr. Using the Titan's power they moved to retake Ascalon with the Searing and push on to a short lived invasion of Orr and Kryta.
The Flame Legion's dominance in Ascalon continued for two years until the defeat of the Titans. Three years on the defeat of Abaddon had all but destroyed the Titans and their ability to influence the charr. At this time the charr began to question the competence of their leaders. The shamans turned to the destroyers, minions of Primordus, hoping their strength would replace the Titans and allow them to remain in power. Due to the intervention of Pyre Fierceshot, however, this did not last long.
After making their allegiance with the Destroyers the resentment at the leadership of the Shaman Caste became an underground rebellion from the other legions. Over the next four decades fighting between the legions continued until the Flame Legion's control was finally shattered at a final battle on the Plains of Golghein. Broken and defeated, the remains of the Flame Legion fled to their citadel near the volcano Hrangmer.
The other legions' complete rejection of the Flame Legion resulted in the rejection of their values as well. This has shaped current charr society towards atheism and technological rather than magical advancement.
[edit] Notes
- The other charr High Legions are the Blood Legion, the Iron Legion, and the Ash Legion.
- The Flame Legion is mockingly called the ‘Gold Legion’ by their foes due to their soft characteristics and reliance on magic rather than weaponry.[1][2]
