Gold Legion
From Guild Wars 2 Wiki
| | The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on the Flame Legion. |
The Gold Legion is one of the four charr High Legions.
[edit] History
Once the proud Flame Legion, renowned for its members' magical prowess, the Gold Legion held dominance over the other legions utilizing false gods to gain the support of the other Legion's Shamans, forming the Shaman Caste. They led the Charr through the Searing of Ascalon, but suffered a blow when their false gods were defeated by human heroes, and latter when an underground Charr movement was created to oppose them.
Eventually the other legions rose and overthrew the Flame Legion’s domination, defeating the Shaman Caste at battle of the Plains of Golghein. Broken and defeated, the remains of the Shamans fled to their citadel near the volcano Hrangmer, while the other legions renamed them the Gold Legion, likening their softness to that ornamental metal. Gold was also used in Shaman rituals to the Titans, so it hearkened back to their failure and humiliating worship of false gods.
Today the Gold Legion remains in the citadel of Hrangmer, still hated and reviled by the other Charr, still eager to yeld the power behind the crown of Khan-Ur. They continue to be the masters of magic among the Charr, with the rest of their race favoring more mechanical constructs as means of power.
[edit] Notes
- The other main Charr legions are the Blood Legion, the Iron Legion, and the Ash Legion.
- Player characters may not be members of the Gold Legion, which is believed to be due to their role as antagonists in the beginning of the Charr story.
