My thanks[edit]

You've been editing the wiki like mad over the past week. You have my gratitude, and welcome to the wiki! Greener (talk) 00:14, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Oh gosh, so you have. Great work, thanks for such an enthusiastic start, and welcome! —Idris User Idris signature.png 18:48, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the warm welcome, but I have a question. Should I be adding the race parts to foe lists for events? i.e. === Foes === ;Wurms Great Jungle Wurm Wychmire Jungle Wurm?
Yup! There's probably a bunch of older articles which don't have that, but I believe our current standard is to include race headers. —Idris User Idris signature.png 01:06, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Most of the HoT ones don't have those so I'll start there. Sunlion (talk) 01:08, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Actually, event formatting does not have it and I remember a discussion somewhere about not including it, only on area pages. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 05:32, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Ah, that's strange, I would have thought they'd be useful on event pages too. —Idris User Idris signature.png 11:45, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Area and story instance. I did a sweep in 2017 for races in event pages, so those should largely not have any race since PoF. However older story instance I do believe haven’t been sorted by race, if anyone feels like they want to poke that, feel free. =) - Doodleplex 14:09, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
You may also find Guild Wars 2 Wiki:General formatting interesting, especially the section with page layouts by content type. —Kvothe (talk) 14:49, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Sorry for the misinformation. —Idris User Idris signature.png 17:40, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

I'm really sorry for messing up the item booster wiki i feel kinda dumb now. Thanks for fixing it and stuff i dont really know if this is how you uh talk to people on the wiki and im sorry if its not im not used to this kind of thing. Sorry again --72.38.127.210 11:37, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Don't worry, it's fine. We all make these mistakes sometimes. Even the editors who've been working on the wiki for years now occasionally make mistakes with formatting and get items mixed up. You're doing great, don't be discouraged. Sunlion (talk) 22:21, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Gem Store Pages[edit]

Hey Sunlion, thanks for pruning the Gem Store style page! Could you please make sure you add the items you removed from Gem Store/Style back to Gem Store/storage/Style, too? Else it messes with our vendor tables. Thanks! :) User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 15:00, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

I only caught this conversation after moving the items over to the storage. The gem store pages are very tedious to update, so to echo Inc, thanks for taking one of them on! Greener (talk) 17:16, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Move Remnants[edit]

Hello, if you move images, could you please flag the move remnants with <Reason>? I do check the move log consistently, but the deletion tags would make my life easier. Thanks! User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 09:37, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for the advice. I'll remember it for next time. Sunlion (talk) 09:48, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Scrap 80-T[edit]

Hi, you flagged SCRAP 80-T for deletion — are you sure about that? There's still a bunch of links left untouched that link to the page, plus the suffix (NPC) on the moved page is not exactly user-friendly (since you normally do not search for pages with parenthetical attributes). User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 16:36, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

You're right there, I suppose. Maybe I should make that page into a disambiguation instead? Sunlion (talk) 18:46, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
If it has more than two other variants, go for it. Otherwise, I'd just use an "other uses" link at the top of the page. :) User Incarnazeus Signature.pngtalk 19:08, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

Related skills/traits[edit]

Thanks for adding some related skills/related traits section! May I ask you, while replacing the manual list with the template, to check if it annihilates previous listed skills? E.g. your Stealth edit removed Aetheric Cloak and Create Distraction because the don't have facts = stealth set in the skill infobox (that's how the skills/traits are collected). However, if the tooltip isn't showing this effect (but other similar skills in fact do) then we can add missing facts = stealth which has no visible effect on the page but the related skill fact will show up in the related skills/related traits template, see my Aetheric Cloak edit (see also List of missing skill and trait facts).

Furthermore, please note that the "improves" part is a work in progress, currently only the profession elementalist has been fully "improved". At the current stage I cannot recommend to replace a manual list with related traits (except for auras, which are pretty much elementalist only, as you did today). --Tolkyria (talk) 10:01, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Traits that improve weapon skills might be a little bit overperforming intentionally and add all weapon skills. However, for example Sundering Mace doesn't improve the skills in weapon slot 1 since they neither daze/stun nor have a cooldown and thus should be excluded, what do you think? The weapon skill in slot 1 can be deactivated with the trait infobox parameter exclude weapon 1 = true. --Tolkyria (talk) 21:48, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
Agreed that they should be excluded. By the way, I've noticed an issue where Destruction of the Empowered is applied to skills that apply boons to self which results in it being added inaccurately. Is there a workaround for this? And thank you for reaching out to me regarding the removal of such traits from those pages.. Sunlion (talk) 04:19, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
The parameter improves boon = boon can be described as improves the boon (or here, any boon) by giving a bonus effect and thus improves skills that grant me this boon (or here, any boon). I would say that this is not the case here, as this takes enemy boons into account and not yours. Right now boons are always considered to affect allies while conditions are effecting enemies. The page Control effects, when describing the status "disabled", can be both: outgoing and ingoing, there we set improves property = Control effect for outgoing disable and improves property = Control effect#incoming for incoming. Since the "improves" semantic mediawiki properties are all of type page (i.e. requires a wiki page) and not of type text (any text) - in order to benefit from redirects, etc... - we would need a page (or a subobject, see Control effect#incoming for a dummy subobject) to deal with this improves boons on enemy. But since, if I'm correct, this is the only skill that actually takes enemy boons into account to increase damage, I honestly would just remove the improves boon = boon parameter and add the trait by hand where needed. --Tolkyria (talk) 07:51, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

Stolen Skills[edit]

I see you joined our correcting from skill icon to stolen skill. I'd like to point your attention at User:DJemba/sandbox, where i created a list of pages that likely do not use it yet, feel free to use it. DJemba (talk) 09:45, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

I've been trying to, thank you for making it. Sunlion (talk) 09:46, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

Category request[edit]

Hey. Following on from your ingame mail; yeah that's no problem I've done similar stuff before based on the race parameter in the same infobox, so I've put the request on GW2W:BOTS here - feel free to request similar stuff there next time if you want to.

For information I asked Doodle and she thinks that lowercase races in category names are probably preferable - hence I've created categories such as "Category:Vigil charr screenshots" not "Category:Vigil Charr screenshots". At some point I'll update the "Asura" ones to "asura" too. If you could bear this in mind if creating other screenshot categories, that'd be awesome, thanks. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:25, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Alright, I'll remember that. Thanks! Sunlion (talk) 22:27, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
All done. also identified a few other groups. Might get around to those at the weekend. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:41, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! By the way, Bangar seems to have confused the bot somehow. Something to do with him being Dominion or being listed as icebrood too, maybe? Sunlion (talk) 22:47, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
I manually reviewed all the organizations assigned to each npc, particularly when there were multiple i picked one (went with the nearest appearance in most cases) - tbh I read the Bangar article and thought "I don't know, i'm leaving this" . -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 00:27, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Just as a suggestion, how about a category for Dominion screenshots? Sunlion (talk) 00:29, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Bronze Rank Chest[edit]

Hey, are you sure you dropped the Gilded Strongbox from the chest and not from the boss? If you have autoloot it would appear as "one" drop since the boss' steel chest and rank chest appear at the same time. I have completed the DRMs several times on bronze and gold and never had any Gilded Stronbgox from the final chest, only from the final boss. ~Sime 14:28, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Ah, makes sense. Now that you mention it, it does seem that the strongbox was from the boss chest. Sunlion (talk) 18:11, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for checking! For the drop rate researches it is good to disable autoloot/aoe loot, so that you can exactly see what drops from what. ~Sime 18:23, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Extended editor rights[edit]

Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Extended editors would give you the option to not leave a redirect behind when moving files. This would be useful to you and useful to the admins to lessen the number of things to delete. Any objections? :) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:55, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

No objections. Sunlion (talk) 19:17, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Done. Try not to break anything. - Tanetris (talk) 00:21, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Blood Collectors[edit]

Hey, I noticed you reverted Blood Collectors, but I'm still kind of confused as to why. "Blood collectors" is the actual box that contains "Blood collector"s. By adding the skills and story/event stuff it makes it seem like the box itself is the object that does these things, when that's not the case. I agree the location information should be there, but I think it's confusing for an end user to see information about an object inside a box on the box page itself. If it is standard to put the information about the contents on the box page itself, then I would say maybe we should get rid of the "blood collector" page itself as it makes it prone to problems to have the exact same information in two different places, especially when ANet changes the info of the item. - Thecaligarmo (talk) 05:32, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

The Blood Collectors are the object that gives the Blood Collector bundle, so it appears in all those locations and thus the Blood Collector bundle does as well. For the skills, it just seems counterproductive to have to look on a different page for skills that are basically given by that bundle. The skills part would be reasonable to remove though on the Blood Collectors page, I guess. I think that technically you don't receive the Blood Collector bundle straightaway which would mean that the bundle does technically give the skills and that the Blood Collector only appears when it's been dropped on the ground but not sure about that part. Sunlion (talk) 05:40, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
Ok yeah, I agree about the location stuff. I also agree that it's counterproductive to have to look in two different pages. Ok, so basically the Blood Collectors chest and the Blood Collector bundle give the same weapon when interacted with. Would it maybe make sense to have a template? Like this it only needs changing once in the future? If not then I'm ok with leaving as is. I was just confused and wanted clarification; which you did provide, so thank you <3 - Thecaligarmo (talk) 05:49 December 2020 (UTC)
I don't think a template's really required here: just about everything except for skill names is automatic already on the object pages and on the skill pages you can set multiple objects as sources for skills so that makes. Besides, it's just two pages to update compared to skills like Rush (rabbit icon) which have so many objects that give them that you need to scroll down to see them all. By the way, good job resolving this in such a calm manner. Sunlion (talk) 05:55, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
Ok, we'll just leave it as is =D (I didn't realize it was automatic, so that's cool!) To be honest I was nervous messaging cause I didn't want it to seem like I was angry or anything. I just want to make sure I'm not screwing something up since I'm new to editing the wiki. Thanks for all the help! - Thecaligarmo (talk) 06:09 December 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Don't worry about it. You sounded perfectly calm and polite in your explanation of why you were confused about the revert and you conveyed your point perfectly. And don't worry about being new to editing the wiki: the admins are all very forgiving about mistakes made by newer users and most mistakes are really easy to fix up. As long as you don't break anything on purpose, you'll be fine. Sunlion (talk) 06:27, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Spider (NPC)[edit]

Hey, maybe you could review your last edit on Spider (NPC) - currently image is set twice and since gallery1 is missing the rest is also not displayed. —Kvothe (talk) 11:36, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

Guutra's Secret Revisions[edit]

Hey there, any reason you removed all the data from the Guutra's Secret page? I can see from the formatting page you linked dialogue probably should not be there, that's my bad. But I don't see why all of the NPC data was removed. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ganynn (talkcontribs) at 17:42, 29 March 2021‎ (UTC).

Weapon Image updates[edit]

Just wanted to give you a heads up, I know a lot of the older images of weapons(and backpacks) are kind of small. I'm working on retaking them, so you don't need to worry about tagging them all. If you want to, feel free to tag anything that's an equipment shot where the person is wearing armor or has norn tattoos. Those are a bit harder to find sometimes, so that would be a big help if those were tagged. Cheers! - Doodleplex 20:08, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for notifying me about this. I'll be sure to focus on those. Sunlion (talk) 20:09, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Mordrem Husk as Pink Moa[edit]

I have seen, that you added a Pink Moa picture as "Appearance within the Into the Labyrinth instance" to the Mordrem Husk page. Because it seems you are an earnest contributor and not a troll I decided not to just revert it but come here to ask you, if that was a serious addition to that page? Because I can't remember seeing a Mordrem Husk as a moa. But maybe I'm wrong or maybe a friend of yours used the Mesmer moa transformation on a husk or something like that? Could you please explain that edit? Balwin (talk) 09:08, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Seems like Sunlion got trolled by Kasmeer. --Tolkyria (talk) 09:55, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
My apologies for the confusion. I wasn't entirely sure how to phrase that so I decided just to leave it like that after discussion with Sime. It could definitely do with a note that they look like that when dead around Kasmeer though wording would need to be quite specific to avoid the note being too long. Maybe just "Appearance in the Into the Labyrinth instance around Kasmeer."? Sunlion (talk) 02:55, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Well, I'm not sure if it is really worth to have that, because it is just an indication that Kasmeer, as a Mesmer, can turn someone into a Moa. So it is not really an alternative appearance. If we want to bring that up (yes it is unusual to have these as corpses) then it should definitely mention Kasmeer and maybe even have a screen shot of said corpses. Balwin (talk) 08:19, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
A screenshot might definitely be useful since they are permanently dead and so do not have the same model according to the project. Perhaps a gallery section or trivia note? Sunlion (talk) 08:22, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Yes, adding a note about these dead Mordrem Husks that look like Moa birds and add a screenshot, once there is one, would be the best way to go, I would feel. Balwin (talk) 09:38, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Achievement canonical name[edit]

What is the reason you are setting e.g. ? —Kvothe (talk) 12:07, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

What I mean is - it seems like a lot of manual work that could potentially be done with a template. —Kvothe (talk) 12:10, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Two questions:
 1. Where do we actually need the canonical name of an individual achievement page? Yes, sure for the template cname, but where else? For example the item/skin infobox collection parameter, while requiring an individual achievement page, uses the canonical name stored in the achievement subobject (set via the template achievement table row). Also the templates achievement, achievement icon, achievement box, etc... all refer to the achievement subobject.
 2. What should we store if we add a (probably silent) achievement page infobox there? A canonical name and a context (definitely not Achievement to avoid clashes with the achievement subobject, but Achievement page or something), what else? Pretty much everything can be obtained by asking for the achievement subobject related to an individual achievement page with Has achievement page::<page>, so we would just duplicate already existing content and store it twice.
--Tolkyria (talk) 15:37, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Automating that process would probably be good. The main reason I was doing that is for collection requirements on vendor pages so that the (achievement) doesn't show up. Sunlion (talk) 16:46, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Ahh, that's the cname occurrence I missed. We could also let it inherit the cname set in the achievement table row in the vendor table notes template (after the wiki upgrade).
Otherwise, as long as we don't have an answer to my second question, I don't mind setting the canonical name directly. I would just set it on the bottom of the page, near the category declariation to not confuse anyone not familiar with this kind of definition. --Tolkyria (talk) 17:59, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Was the change implemented and the individual page edits reverted? —Kvothe (talk) 13:30, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
No, around this time wiki editors were asked to avoid template edits due to a wiki upgrade, afterwards I wasn't here and the widget loading bug occurred. --Tolkyria (talk) 14:22, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
The template vendor table notes is now using the cname stored in achievement table row like for example the collection parameter in item infobox does. --Tolkyria (talk) 07:59, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Thanks. Sunlion (talk) 08:04, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

I think that I removed all added occurences of 'set:Has canonical name'. —Kvothe (talk) 11:36, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
You missed five, see this query. --Tolkyria (talk) 12:14, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, removed those aswell. If they are still needed we will find out eventually. —Kvothe (talk) 13:27, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Albax Image issue[edit]

Hi, Im struggling with an issue i was wondering if you could help with? I added an image for Albax. Then later found another one I thought looked better and added it as well intending to replace the original. But even though it says the new image is active, its still showing the old one. OtakuModeEngage (talk) 23:42, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

It is a caching issue, as noted when uploading a picture: "A note on updating existing images: DO NOT re-upload or revert your new version if it doesn't display immediately! This happens because the old version is cached in your browser and on the wiki server. To resolve this, purge the wiki's cache by clicking the "Purge" tab at the top of the page, then force-refresh your browser's cache by typing Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+R.". ~Sime 23:44, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

No problem! If you ever spot another page with that issue, go to the container's page, edit the "Contents" section, and add "|chance=Guaranteed" after the item's name in the Contains template. If it can be chosen, it's the same process just with changing "Guaranteed" to "Choice". Sunlion (talk) 00:00, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for welcoming me.[edit]

 • So ultimately where did you move the contents of this Waypoint#Reducing_travel_costs section? It was really useful for new players, and now it can't be found anywhere.
 • Regarding your verification request at Waypoint: 1. launch the game 2. go in combat 3. click on any waypoint during combat. You will see both references on your screen: map travel and teleport every time.
 • https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Watchman_Rebec_portrait.jpg "We don't upload these unless they actually are unique icons as opposed to automatically generated images". "We" means who?, and why ? Can you point me to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki rules on this issue? I would like to read more about this particular matter. Thanks.

--LilianaM (talk) 02:35, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

1) I haven't quite got around to it yet. I was planning on moving it to map navigation.
2) Thanks. Though I'd argue "teleport" isn't a term for waypoints and just simply intended to indicate that you'll move to that location.
3) The wiki community generally doesn't upload these unless they're actual files within the dat. That one, and most portraits by extension, are just automatically generated from the current pose and model of the NPC and not direct images or textures, as can be seen in Category:Portraits. Also, it would be rather tedious, and in my opinion would be rather difficult as we would have to upload thousands of images given there are so many NPCs that have portraits, and it has no real benefit to the playerbase. Sunlion (talk) 02:55, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
Reducing travel costs; I think listing cheap methods of travel is a valid point - the previous list was enormous but should be possible to slim down in a way that satisfies both of you.
Intro line; reworded and added error message into mechanics section.
Portraits; there's no rule about portrait files, however they are ugly and don't provide anything beyond a normal screenshot. For normal screenshots we have the Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Projects/Shared Model Project.
-Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 05:27, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
On reading back, and thanks to User:Felix Omni's comments, I have been made aware I was quite harsh back there. Sorry about that; just in a bit of a mood at the moment, and don't be discouraged. You've been doing good work, and honestly it's probably better (not to mention more useful) than I've been lately. Thanks for your contributions, and apologies for any rudeness. Sunlion (talk) 12:55, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
My main concern is that when viewing quick page previews 1, the current NPC screenshots focus on their crotches rather than their faces. Current revision of Watchman Rebec as an example. I'd much rather see a face there. Some people might find these portraits ugly given the aesthetic of the game, but isn't that how they appear in the game? --LilianaM (talk) 15:36, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
If my understanding is correct, at the start of the wiki many NPCs used portraits (especially since often there wasn't any better picture) and then they were switched to full body shots because there is really no reason to just have their face captured since it is already in the full shot pic. I see personally no point in portraits unless they are drawn, for example like Zommoros or Taimi had, so I agree with Alex that it does not really add anything, and it's also not guaranteed that the preview will show the first picture--there are many pages where it shows something else from the page. Not sure about the waypoint/map travel pages, though I do agree with that recent IP comment taht it is a bit messy right now and not in a good shape imho. ~Sime 22:31, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

Shrine Guardian Kits[edit]

Could you explain how on earth that makes sense? :D Genie (talk) 14:21, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

Kit: young animals: a young fox, among others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kit . Shrine Guardians are not goats nor humans to have kids. ~Sime 15:43, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
I mean, they literally use the words kids just in the next line in the dialogue. • Genie 23:58, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
No one says "I am not good with offsprings." Doesn't change a thing that kits are still correct; if you want to get technical, kits are kids of foxes, then. EDIT: Ok I missed the other usage of "kids", but that's related to "parents." Doesn't change anything. ~Sime 00:02, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
I genuinely don't know which one is correct, so I'm not gonna insist on a change. Cheers. • Genie 00:26, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
