Overall[edit]

  • Equip 3 core and/or elite specializations (specs) at a time
    • Unlock 1-2-3 slots as you level up
  • PvP will have access to everything unlocked by default

Profession reward tracks[edit]

Hero points[edit]

  • Replaces skill points
  • Skill challenges renamed to Hero challenges
  • Limited in number: only earned from hero challenges and leveling
    • Current excess skill points on characters will be converted into Mystic Forge materials
  • Spend hero points in profession reward tracks

Core specialization reward tracks[edit]

  • Replace trait lines, 5 tracks per profession
  • Traits unlocked by progressing in spec track (goodbye trait guides?)
  • New unique icons for each trait
  • Major traits reduced to 3 per tier
    • Only equip 1 major trait per tier
  • Icons in this image at about 4:30, 8:00, 10:00, and 12:00 seem to indicate that core specs include skin/item unlocks, even though this is not mentioned in the article itself

Core skill reward tracks[edit]

  • One track per skill category (aka "type"), 5 tracks per profession
  • Skills unlocked by progressing in skill track
  • All skills will be assigned a category (aka "type") (weapon skills too?)
  • Each category has a core skill track, progress in that track will unlock skills in that category

Elite specialization reward tracks[edit]

  • One per profession at release, plan to add more later
  • Includes traits (12), skills (6), skins, items, access to a new weapon type, and a change to profession mechanics - all unlocked through track progression
  • Can only equip 1 elite spec
  • Additional skills, weapon type, and mechanic are only available while equipped
  • Intriguing hints:
    • "some other lucky profession will finally get access to a hammer"
    • "one profession’s elite specialization will be a full set of six shouts"

Fallout[edit]

Culling of traits[edit]

  • Some functionality from removed traits will be added to base skills
    • Necromancer icon small.png Wells become ground-targeted by default

Loss of trait line stat bonuses[edit]

  • Base attribute at level 80 increasing to 1000 (FINALLY a nice round number!)
  • All item stats increasing
  • "Half" of profession attribute is being applied to baseline profession mechanics
    • Elementalist icon small.png Attunements will have recharge reduced from 13 s to 10 s
    • Guardian icon small.png Virtues, Warrior icon small.png burst, Engineer icon small.png tool belt,  Steal.png Steal, Mesmer icon small.png shatters should likewise see a base recharge reduction
    • Ranger icon small.png Pets should see a boost to base stats
    • Necromancer icon small.png Base life force pool should be increased
    • Other half will be applied when the spec is equipped

Questions[edit]

  • Racial skills?

Wiki changes[edit]

  • Template:Trait infobox
    • Make icons work like Template:Skill infobox (default to <trait name>.png)

    • Remove numeral parameter and delete {{Property:Has trait number}}
    • Remove cost and unlock lookup/display
  • Template:Skill infobox
    • Add specialization parameter
    • Remove skill-point parameter; functionality will be transferred to properties of skill track
