Location[edit]
Dialogue[edit]
- If in Durmand Priory
- It's good to see you in Hoelbrak, <Character name>. Are you here on a Priory expedition?
- Not exactly. You?
- I'm stationed here for the long haul, documenting the history of Hoelbrak. I'd be happy to to share some of my knowledge with a fellow Priory member.
- What have you learned about Hoelbrak's beginnings?
- Hoelbrak's story starts with Jormag's awakening. When the Ice Dragon rose from under Drakkar Lake, my ancestors likewise rose to fight him.
- What happened?
- Our ancestors shook the sky when they fought, but they took heavy losses while Jormag's minions multiplied. For every icebrood killed, two more replaced it.
- Then what?
- Those were hard times. The land, and many of our ancestors, were corrupted or laid to waste. Some said the Spirits had abandoned us, but then they appeared to Asgeir, an enviable hero.
- Tell me about Asgeir.
- Asgeir was Knut Whitebear's grandfather. He battled Jormag, and though he didn't kill the dragon, he took a trophy: one of the beast's teeth.
- What happened next?
- The Spirits of the Wild appeared to Asgeir. They directed him to lead our ancestors south into land abandoned by the dwarves. Here. He planted the great tooth of Jormag and carved new shrines for the Spirits.
- And so Hoelbrak was born?
- Exactly! He built a hunting hall and called it Hoelbrak after our word for "lowland." He showed us that our home was wherever we made it and wherever the Spirits were. He forged us the start of a new legend.
- Your knowledge is extensive. Congratulations.
- Well done, scholar.
- You do the Priory proud.
- Your knowledge is impressive, but I must go.
- Your knowledge is impressive, but I must go.
- Your knowledge is impressive, but I must go.
- Your knowledge is impressive, but I must go.
- I have no time to talk. Good-bye, scholar.
- If not in Durmand Priory
- May the Spirits guide you. I am Thyrie, a Durmand Priory scholar studying local history. Are you interested? I know much about Jormag, Asgeir and Hoelbrak's beginnings.
- Tell me how Hoelbrak came to be.
- Hoelbrak's story starts with Jormag's awakening. When the Ice Dragon rose from under Drakkar Lake, my ancestors likewise rose to fight him.
- What happened?
- Our ancestors couldn't fight Jormag. They had to leave their land behind. The Spirits of the Wild lead them here, where they created Hoelbrak.
- I'd like to learn about something else.
- Your knowledge is impressive, but I must go.
- Your knowledge is impressive, but I must go.
- Tell me about Jormag.
- To our knowledge, Jormag was the second Elder Dragon to awaken, rising in 1165 AE. His rising brought with it a massive snowstorm and a legion of minions made of ice and snow.
- How did Jormag's awakening affect the area?
- It created a bitter storm that lasted four years and buried the northern passes. Our ancestors were driven south.
- I'd like to learn about something else.
- I see. Interesting.
- Tell me about Asgeir.
- Asgeir was Knut Whitebear's grandfather. He battled Jormag, and though he didn't kill the dragon, he took a trophy: one of the beast's teeth. You can see it in the Great Hall, here in Hoelbrak.
- I'd like to learn about something else.
- I"ll [sic] have to go take a look.
- I have other priorities. (Before clicking "I'd like to learn about something else.")
- Oh! I have to run. (After clicking "I'd like to learn about something else.")
