Talk:Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone
Location bug[edit]
Sometimes Seimur doesn't appear in some instances of the same map and his location isn't marked by
. At the same time there might exist instances where he's present at the right spot and the ones where he isn't. To circumvent this issue, players use LFG tool or relog to find an instance of the map where Seimur isn't bugged.I don't think this is intended result - it's rather a bug or some technical limitation and I think it should be described as such.
As a proof that this is what's happening, I want to show these two pictures I took today (18th December, 21:40-41, UTC+1) - one minute apart from each other, in the same place, but in two different instances of the same map: [picture with Seimur] and [picture without Seimur]. Please note different values returned by /ip indicating two different instances of the map.

- I assume that his location changes can only happen on newly created instances of the cities. For example this night, after reset, I still found him in Rata Sum—probably because the map he was on existed before reset. Similarly, a Lion's Arch map created before the reset would not have him there. Only a newly created instance would have the new location. At least that’s what I think and what makes somewhat sense. After all, you don’t really want an NPC disappear or suddenly appear in a city when players are around (of course, you could have him walk away but that would mean additional work). poke | talk 14:28, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
- This bug was probably already fixed, some time after my message - from the patch notes: "Fixed a bug preventing Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone from appearing on maps at the right time.". However, I wrote about this issue, because it seemed there was some confusion regarding when and where Seimur appears caused by this bug. The current version of the page claims he moved to the Grove on Thursday, not on Wednesday and that he appeared for two consecutive days in Black Citadel, while only spending a day in all other cities. I'm not sure this information is correct. I think it's rather a misinterpretation caused by the location bug and that's why I wanted other wiki editors to be aware of it. This pic shows Seimur in the Grove on Wednesday. I'm not sure when Seimur moves to another city and/or when his greeting changes. (There is a possibility these two things don't happen at the same time) Hyareil (talk) 20:31, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
- Instead of that huge wall of text, can we have some sort of table to show known locations?
Day Zone Area Waypoint Link Sunday Diessa Plateau Village of Butcher's Block Butcher's Block Waypoint [&BF8BAAA=] Monday Hoelbrak The Great Rise Upper Balcony Waypoint [&BAgFAAA=] Tuesday Black Citadel Mustering Ground Mustering Ground Waypoint [&BKUDAAA=] Wednesday The Grove Ronan's Bower Ronan's Waypoint [&BLwEAAA=] Thursday Divinity's Reach District Promenade Commons Court Waypoint [&BCoDAAA=] Friday Rata Sum Creator's Commons Magicat Court Waypoint [&BLQEAAA=] Saturday Lion's Arch Western Ward Sanctum Harbor Waypoint [&BC8EAAA=]
- Surely, above table needs some better wiki formating. >_<
- Chat link can be found here and here.
- And I don't know if he'll repeat previous locations after first week, but since he's back at The Groove (Wednesday), assuming this to be accurate.
- I'm not touching the page itself, cause I'm not really used to wiki policy about how to format event data and not 100% sure about the 1-day-in-each-location either. --NIN37 15:22, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Server time vs UTC; and map icon wording.[edit]
"The day changes at midnight (server time), not at daily [[Server reset]] time. Once nearby, he can easily be found at the{{map icon|peppermint}}icon on your [[map]]."[1]
- How do you find the server time (if server time is not +0:00 UTC)?
- His icon (when not Wintersday) is a regular merchant icon; I'm not sure what the best way to word that would be.

Stll appears in game[edit]
The way the wiki reads, it implies that he only appeared during wintersday, but he still spawns. He just doesn't have the fancy candy icon over his head. just saw him today in the grove and was in shock. is it worth explicitly noting this on the main wiki page?67.81.109.155 06:46, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- I reworded it a little bit. The peppermint icon does reflect that he was added during a Wintersday festival, so I sort of want to keep that on the site. Other people might have different opinions on this. --Rognik (talk) 00:27, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
Reference?[edit]
Could this NPC be a reference to the Little Shop of Horrors character Seymour Krelborn? The names are similar and in the movie Seymour has to feed his plant with blood. Now what is Oxbone's special ingredient? Bloodstone dust! ANet have also made references to the same movie elsewhere, like Mawdrey II and a GW1 quest with the name Little Workshop of Horrors.
- I like it. He was fleshed out around the same time as Mawdrey, too. SarielV 16:09, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
Can the current location be shown actively?[edit]
Similar to how this page works (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Supply_Network_Agent#Locations). --175.141.46.116 06:20, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
- Looks like this has been actively displayed for quite a while. However, it doesn't work correctly despite deleting the cache. It is Sunday morning today and the location for Saturday is still displayed. :( --212.186.25.125 07:13, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Is there a purpose to the 7 daily food items he sells?[edit]
Also, does the +5% Experience from Poor Nourishment affect all sources of XP or only from kills? --175.142.113.27 19:20, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- One per day, as listed under Locations. Don't know about the effect. - J.P. 19:27, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Also some of the food is needed for Warming Grawnk's Heart and Hungry cat scavenger hunt. ~SimeTalk 19:29, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- I checked and it seems that none of the 7 non-Wintersday food items are required for Grawnk, though 2 of them can be used for getting Lady Wisteria Whiskington into your home instance. Are there any uses for the other 5? --175.142.113.27 20:45, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Gourmet Training Location[edit]
The wiki currently says that he will appear in the home instance of players who have unlocked Gourmet Training. However, I believe it should more accurately say he only appears in the home instance of the _character_ that unlocked Gourmet Training, or at the very least those characters that have cooking unlocked in the first place. I say that because Seimur only shows up in one of my home instances. I only have cooking unlocked on one character so I am not sure which option it is. Does anyone have any input on this? Kaele Forester (talk) 01:44, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Can you go test with one of your other characters; learn cooking and check if he appears in the home instance? —Kvothe (talk) 17:18, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
Feedback 2020/04/04[edit]
The highlight in yellow doesn't seem to work properly. He is at LA ingame, but still highlighted at Rata Sum--Anen13 (talk) 14:34, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Feedback 2020/12/30[edit]
Similarly to the previous feedback, the highlight in yellow seems to lag one day behind. I purged all browser content and refreshed the page as proposed, the issue appears to remain.
shiny frying pan for Grawnk[edit]
Trying to find the shiny frying pan to get the next food item to get a WintersDay tree in my home, I had a hard time finding the item in wiki (could only remember Frying Pan which brought up other locations for I guess a different kind of Frying Pan??) so I thought I would ask for something to be added on what Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone will sell for you to give to Grawnk and where the Locations are.
Finally, found the location after searching and jumping through 4 different pages leading to what I did not need until I finally found out the name of what I was looking for is shiny frying pan. Now I can get the waypoint to mark it on my map to find my way there to the vendor. I also had NO CLUE that it was called the Grawnk Munch scavenger hunt. That is why I think a link to Grawnk would be helpful. Also, could not remember his name and kept typing Grawk. No wonder I could not find the Grawnk Munch wiki page I needed. It is spelled Grawnk! Oops!! Well, that was my own screw up that led to my frustration. I just think this would have been easier to find if listed here is all. Thanks! --KatieBoom (talk) 02:34, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) The item needed and its name is literally listed in the vendor tab, you could've just clicked on that. The scavenger hunt name is also name dropped multiple times on this page. ~Sime 02:42, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
- (Reply) In hindsight I realize looking for Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone's locations and just talking to him would have been easier but I went to Wiki first considering I thought searching for "Frying Pan" would bring up the right page. Also the The scavenger hunt I thought only referred to the cats. I just wanted the Waypoint at Arcallion_Digs. Now I have the info. Thank you! --KatieBoom (talk) 02:50, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
