Dialogue[edit]
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- The Gods of Tyria, known as the Six, were benevolent patrons who gave magic to the races of Tyria: Dwayna, Balthazar, Melandru, Lyssa, Grenth, and Kormir.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Currently, Balthazar has fallen from godhood, but he is not the first. Abaddon, god of secrets, was sealed in the Mouth of Torment, but eventually he was defeated and replaced by the Sunspear Kormir.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question.
- Of these names, who was not one of the heroes who helped prevent Nightfall, and the fallen god Abaddon's rise: Melonni, Kossan, Tahlkora, or Dunkoro?
- Melonni.
- Incorrect. Melonni was one of the heroes who helped fell Abaddon, and in doing so, saved Elona from Nightfall.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Kossan.
- Correct. Kossan was not one of the original heroes who stopped Nightfall. He is the great descendant of Koss and Melonni, who did help defeat Abaddon over 250 years ago.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- Tahlkora.
- Incorrect. Tahlkora did help defeat Abaddon to avoid Nightfall. Her remains can be found in Vabbi—a tragic end for such a hero.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- Dunkoro.
- Incorrect. Dunkoro was there when Abaddon fell, but the price of freeing Joko still weighs on his conscience.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- I haven't a clue.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- Maybe another time.
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- Turai Ossa lead the Great Pilgrimage traveling to the Crystal Desert seeking Ascension. The journey was arduous, and many died in Sulfurous Wastes of the Desolation.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Those who survived attempted to Ascend by building the Throne of Pellentia at Dunes of Despair and the giant airship sails at Elona Reach, and by battling the Forgotten among Thirsty River's shipwrecks.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question:
- Who is the fallen God of Secrets who sought to bring about Nightfall?
- Balthazar.
- Incorrect. Though also cast from godhood, Balthazar was not responsible for those legendary events. He now rages across Elona with his Forged army.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- Dhuum.
- Incorrect. Dhuum was the God of Death before Grenth usurped his rule of the Underworld.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Menzies.
- Incorrect. Menzies is the Lord of Destruction and half-brother of Balthazar. With Balthazar's ousting, it is assumed Menzies controls the Fissure of Woe.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Abaddon.
- Correct. Abaddon, the God of Secrets, was cast aside, imprisoned in the Realm of Torment. His subsequent defeat thwarted Nightfall across Elona.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- I don't know this one.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- Let's talk later.
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- Before entering Augury Rock and achieving Ascension, heroes were required to attain Divine Fire by passing the Forgotten tests at Elona Reach, Dunes of Despair, and Thirsty River.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Augury Rock then opened to reveal the Ascension Chamber, where the heroes battled the Doppelganger of themselves to attain Ascension. Legend says the Doppelganger still roams the desert dunes.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question:
- Who was the Elonian champion who lead his people in the Great Pilgrimage across the Desolation to seek Ascension at Augury Rock?
- Turai Ossa.
- Correct. After Defeating Palawa Joko at the battle of Jahai, Turai led his followers to the Crystal Desert to ascend. Ultimately, he failed, but his ghost guided the heroes that followed.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- Vizier Khilbron.
- Incorrect. Khilbron was the Vizier of Orr whose attempt to save the kingdom from the charr invasion instead sank the peninsula into the Sea of Sorrows. He later became an infamous lich.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Varesh Ossa.
- Incorrect. Varesh Ossa was the despot ruler of Elona who conspired with the outcast god Abaddon to open the Mouth of Torment and enact Nightfall, Abaddon's return to the mortal world.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- Palawa Joko.
- Incorrect. Palawa Joko is the current undead lich ruler of Elona. His first attempt to seize control was cut short by Turai Ossa at the Battle of Jahai centuries ago.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Those heroes who prevented Nightfall have a lineage that still persists today. The great tactician Dunkoro is now the ghost who oversees the Lair of the Forgotten.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- The princess Tahlkora became a Sunspear and inspired others to resist the despotic Palawa Joko. Kossan, the sole descendant of the Sunspear Koss and hero Melonni, can be found among the Shadows.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question:
- With the Sunspears nearly extinct, which other organization's goal is to free Elona, be it from Palawa Joko, Balthazar, or the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik?
- The Order of Shadows.
- Correct. The Order of Shadows, watchers of the Mouth of Torment, now aspire to free Elona. But like the Sunspear who never fight alone, they will need allies to return Elona to its people.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- The Order of Whispers.
- Incorrect. Once in charge of protecting Elona from the Realm of Torment, they now fight the Elder Dragons to safeguard all of Tyria.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- The Durmand Priory.
- Incorrect. However, the Durmand Priory has already started sending explorers to the Crystal Desert, seeking to understand the ancient knowledge buried in these lands.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- The Lair of the Forgotten.
- Incorrect. Though some of the ghosts within the Lair of Forgotten may share this goal, most are struggling simply to withstand this conflict.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- I really don't know.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- I'm not interested right now.
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- It was said the Lonely Vigil once towered over the Arid Sea, now the Arid Gladefields. So tall and visible, it could be seen from the edge of the Crystal Overlook in the Desolation of Elona.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Those heroes seeking Forgotten wisdom saw it fall from its precarious footing. If a hero reacher Siliss Yassith, the Forgotten would unlock their inner potential.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question:
- Who is the last in the great line of the Ossas, the Clan that ruled Elona for many generations?
- Kunai Ossa.
- Incorrect. Kunai was the son who assumed rule of Elona when Turai stepped to lead the Great Pilgrimage to seek Ascension, leaving Elona to cross the Desolation to the Crystal Desert.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- Varesh Ossa.
- Incorrect. The despot ruler Varesh Ossa worked to fullfill an ancient prophecy to release the imprisoned god Abaddon to the mortal world. Abaddon's power slowly transformed her into a Margonite.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Zehlon Ossa.
- Correct. Once free, Palawa Joko besieged Elona and diverted the Elon to the Riverlands. Upon defeat, Zehlon and his Sunspears led the exodus to Amnoon, only to fall at Deadlock Sweep.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- Kareh Ossa.
- Incorrect. Kareh Ossa was a warmarshal who usurped control of a portion of Palawa's Awakened in Joko's absence. Once freed, Joko offered aid if his forces were returned and Kareh was defeated.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- I don't know.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- Neither for the moment, thanks.
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- Our local Order of Shadows was once part of the Order of Whispers. Originally, the Whispers were a secretive order intended to watch the Mouth of Torment.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Now the Order of Whispers safeguards Tyria from the rise of dragons, while the Order of Shadows uses subterfuge and deception to free Elona from Awakened, dragon, and fallen god alike.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question: Palawa Joko, the Scourge of Vabbi, was once defeated by Turai Ossa and sealed away in the Realm of Torment. Where did this occur?
- The Ruins of Morah.
- Incorrect. The Ruins of Morah are where Joko reclaimed his armies that Kureh Ossa stole from him.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- The Battle of Jahai.
- Correct. It was Turai Ossa who united the three kingdoms of Elona and defeated Palawa Joko at the battle of Jahai.
- "Thank you for the glyph!"
- The Mouth of Torment.
- Incorrect. The Mouth of Torment is where Varesh Ossa attempted to release Abbaddon from the Realm of Torment.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- The Bone Palace.
- Incorrect. The Bone Palace is Joko's throne, but that's not where he was defeated.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- I can't even guess.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- Some other time.
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- In current times, Palawa Joko has regained rule of Elona, but he was defeated in the past by Turai Ossa at the Battle of Jahai, the fortress that once straddled the Elon River.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Perhaps that is why Joko redirected the river north during his siege of Elona and away from the bitter memories of Jahai.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question:
- What notable landmark of the Crystal Desert was once visible from the Desolation of Elona?
- The Lonely Vigil.
- Correct. The stone giant was once visible from as far as the Desolation's Crystal Overlook, until it fell when heroes sought out Forgotten Siliss Yassith.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- Augury Rock.
- Incorrect. Though it reaches fantastic heights, Augury Rock is too far north to be viewed from the Desolation.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- The Throne of Pellentia.
- Incorrect. The towers the pilgrims built at the Throne of Pellentia couldn't reach high enough for Ascension, nor could they be seen from the Desolation.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- Elona Reach.
- Incorrect. While the sail towers at Elona Reach were grand, they are too far north to be seen from the Desolation.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- I have no idea.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- I don't have time right now.
- Knowledge is my speciality. History is my obsession. Would you like a lesson in events of the past? Or will you answer a question about people and events from long ago to receive a Forgotten glyph?
- Tell me something about the past.
- The Ossa clan ruled Elona after Turai united the three kingdoms. Kunai followed his father's rule, but Kareh Ossa fell after assuming control of some of Joko's forces at the Ruins of Morah.
- Go on. I'm listening.
- Varesh Ossa failed to bring Nightfall at Mouth of Torment. The last Ossa, Zehlon led to exodus to Amnoon once Joko took Elona, but he was slain and Awakened to serve at Deadlock Sweep.
- Ask me your question.
- Here is my question:
- Which of the following was not a trial to gain access to Augury Rock's Ascension Chamber: Elona Reach, Dunes of Despair, Thirsty River, or the Doppleganger?
- Elona Reach.
- Incorrect. Elona Reach was where Ascension seekers retrieved the Vision Crystals to focus the gaze of the gods. Some believe it was those people and their sail structures who became the Zephyrites.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.'
- Dunes of Despair.
- Incorrect. The Throne of Pellentia could be found within the Temple of Ascension. Defending a ghostly hero seeking to reclaim his throne rewarded Ascension seekers with the gaze of the gods.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try it again another time.
- Thirsty River.
- Incorrect. Only those who bested the Forgotten throughout the shipwrecks at Thirsty River could illuminate the rune circle at Augury Rock. Ask the now-Branded Forgotten Josso Essher. He was there.
- Thanks for the history! I'll try again another time.
- The Doppleganger.
- Correct. The other three trials were needed to acquire the divine fire. Only then could heroes activate the three seals that opened Augury Rock, where the Doppleganger tested them.
- Thank you for the glyph!
- I have no idea.
- Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
- Enlightening.
- Ask me your question. (same as above)
- I don't have time right now.
- If already answered a question
- I have already posed my question to you. You will have to try again at a later time. Think a bit, and then come back to me.
- I'll check back later.
