Talk:World boss

This looks like a modified version of the table at Chest#Qualifying_events. Why make a separate article? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:36, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

That lists other bosses and events that provide a bonus chest, it's not a list of world bosses persay.--Relyk ~ talk < 00:43, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
What's the difference? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 02:12, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Maybe I'd like to look at a list of world bosses instead of bonus chests?--Relyk ~ talk < 02:19, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Right... you're saying there's not a 1-to-1 correspondence between the two. I'm asking what the difference is - what non-boss events are there that still award a bonus chest? I don't know of any, and it doesn't look like there are any listed on the Chest table, either. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:08, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Blightghast the Plaguebringer is probably the only example. Even if it is a 1-to-1 correspondence, maintaining a list of world bosses on the bonus chest section isn't correct. We can have a list of world bosses even when we could link to the world boss section of a table of NPCs that give a bonus chest. That's the difference to me, maybe you can consider it the same thing if it's the same information.--Relyk ~ talk < 05:04, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Blightghast is in a personal story instance, and you don't get either a bonus chest or a standard boss chest for killing him, so I wouldn't list him in either place. He's simply an "epic"-rank monster with no other special attributes.
Yes, I do consider it the same thing. If the entries in the lists are identical, there's no reason at all to maintain the same list in multiple locations. I'm not saying that the Chest article is the "right place" to maintain the single list, however - I'm just saying that we need to pick one location and merge them. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:35, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I literally just copy-pasted the table from chest#bonus chest then moved some columns and such around so that it focused more on the bosses individually. I thought it would be more clear if World Bosses had their own page rather than them just being a side-note on the Chest page. Perhaps the bonus chest section could just give simple information on what bonus chests are and how the reward system for them works? People will still be able to easily find the information on what bosses give those bonus chests by following the links in that section to Boss#World Boss, which includes a link to this page. -Somohexual (talk) 19:11, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
I think it makes more sense to have this as a separate page, yes. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:26, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

TBD to NONE[edit]

I've gone ahead and changed the TBD to none. Although TBD is official from Arenanet, NONE is less confusing for players who don't know what it means. --Event boss (map icon).pngDav 22:22, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

I reverted your edit and instead explained the terminology on the page. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:33, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
While you're here - why is the Megadestroyer not on the list? He's on the schedule... — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 23:06, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
The page was created before he was updated to a world boss and no one added him.--Relyk ~ talk < 23:31, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Relyk - I'm surprised nobody noticed it before. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 23:33, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
I prefer "None" to explaining ANet's odd vocabulary. Also, can we fix the "[[]]"? (looks odd).
Those, however, are completely minor quibbles — this is perhaps the best timer on the web now, since it has the nearest waypoint links (which most don't). Good job. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:35, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
TBD is a standard term like TBA, I wouldn't call it odd. Might as well teach people what it means?--Relyk ~ talk < 23:43, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
games often end up with bosses being abbreviated. TBA is more frequent in the uk i think.
@tef, fixed empty brackets. -86.158.123.156 23:52, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
Nah, they're pretty interchangeable, Alex. Advised/determined innit? — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 00:43, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
The wikipedia article on tba is pretty detailed.--Relyk ~ talk < 01:28, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
The reason I prefer "None" is that there isn't any boss scheduled to appear at that time. "TBD" is an odd word choice because it has been determined : no boss. Later, when ANet decides whatever they are deciding and it's possible that a boss appears at those times, we can switch it again. Using an abbreviation is perfectly fine (although I would use SMALLCAPS). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:27, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Twilight arbor waypoint[edit]

In the table for the current bosses, the wp-link to the jungle wurm (caledon forrest) isn't working in game chat. Also I would recommend to direct to Lionguard Waystation Waypoint. That one is much closer to the pre-events.195.240.63.18 13:12, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Full list of World Event schedule, as of 17 june 2014[edit]

Hi,

We'd like to provide you with an up-to-date file to show the schedule: File:World_boss_Full_schedule.png

If anyone would like to format the "Full schedule" timetable so that all timezones are represented, and let me know on my talkpage, I'll gladly share it with the global GW2 community.

Thanks! --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:39, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Once per day?[edit]

So I've been doing a lot of these, and I've noticed that even if I do the same boss event (with the same character), but the day after, I still don't get any credit. So does once per day mean once per 24 hours? Or does it have something to do with server time (I play in europe, so gotta wait for america?) 2.104.38.138 06:49, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Reset time is midnight UTC; same as when your dailies reset. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:56, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Changed the hard core world boss start times to reflect the 5 minute actual earlier start time[edit]

A recent edit changed the start times on Teq, 3H Wurm, and the Karka Queen by 5 minutes. While there are some websites that do this for technical reasons, the wiki doesn't need to. I haven't seen any evidence that the times were changed. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:08, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Is this a typo? Or is it meant to say 'poo'?[edit]

Global schedule A number of poos appear at the same time on every instance of their relevant map. It's written this way on the main page. i'm not at all familiar with wiki-ing, so I just thought i'd bring it to your attention instead of trying to change it.

Different Bosses listed on the timers table for other people when looking at the world boss timer page[edit]

Me and my friends wanted to do some world bosses but when we looked at the timer page we had different bosses from one another (ex:. i got megadestroyer in 5 mins, my mate had ulgoth)

Why is that difference ? i know it has nothing to do with server because we play on the same server and we live close to eachother in rl but what is it then? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.117.232.125 (talkcontribs) at 19:04, 10 October 2014‎ (UTC).

Sounds like one of your browsers is viewing an old version of the page. Try CTRL + F5 (refresh). If that doesn't fix it, try purging the wiki too (click on the clock, accept purge) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:22, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

I just wanted to say "Thank You!" to those that edit and maintain the wiki. I noticed the vandalism recently, and also how quickly it was redacted. Thank you, wiki editors! --SlatzG (talk) 14:26, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Is Captain Rotbeard considered a World Boss?[edit]

A glorious chest is the reward after completing Defeat the Risen pirate Captain Rotbeard, which is similar to other bosses listed on the page. --175.142.44.47 11:12, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

True. Same for Kill the Branded devourer queen. Both added.--Lon-ami (talk) 11:50, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

The Demagogue - world boss?[edit]

According to the dialog in Draw out and destroy the Demagogue's spirit, there's supposed to be a reward chest. What kind of chest is it? --210.186.163.10 16:20, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

It's a Splendid Chest, it is located atop the mushrooms to the west. Raljeor (talk) 16:33, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Would like to add a map identifying World Boss locations[edit]

I just found out I cannot add material to the World Boss page. So, Im hoping someone will add this map of World Boss Locations.

Is the boss table freaking out for anyone else? It appears for a moment then disappears.

Svanir chief[edit]

The Svanir Chief should link to the Vendrake's Homestead Waypoint, not the one it does, but I can't figure out how to get the code for it, and people in game are no help. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Countytime (talkcontribs) at 18:21, 11 June 2016 (UTC).

The pre-event starts at Krennak's Homestead Waypoint, so although if you're late then you could use Vendrake's, the world boss won't start if someone doesn't finish the pre-events at Krennak's. The events lead from Krennak's to the totem too. I don't think a change is necessary. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:00, 11 June 2016 (UTC)

Quotation[edit]

Tyria is rife with powerful creatures. Defeat them to receive chests containing rare equipment and crafting materials. You're guaranteed a rare item at least once a day.

— In-game description

Sorry I cannot add this to the article. --109.252.109.45 09:38, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/11/18[edit]

The description update by Dagger on 7/2016 is incorrect.

The big boss chest on the ground is once per character, per account, per day.

The bonus rare (or better) chest, or the bouncy chest, is once per account per day.

Choco-muffin (talk) 06:58, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Per character, or per account?[edit]

(that can be looted once per character, per account[..]

Which is it? It can't both be true. User RolandOfGilead Signature.png Roland of Gilead talk 07:45, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Technically it can be both, since a character can only be tied to one account. It's just a bit redundant is all. It's saying "per character by account". Removing the per account bit since its redundant and confusing. Konig (talk) 08:31, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Suggested Additions[edit]

Mordremoth in Epic section. Separ (talk) 18:15, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

Seems there's been no additions since HoT's release. I have to wonder if there's a reason for this or not... Either way, updating. Konig (talk) 18:31, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
Added HoT and S3 world bosses. Not sure what the situation surrounding PoF world bosses are, I just know there to be at least 5 of them. Konig (talk) 18:35, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
Slay the Bandit Executioner before they exact revenge--Knighthonor (talk) 22:28, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
^Does't fit to me. No boss chest and no timer/schedule/anything at all (all others at least have a 15ish minute cooldown I think between events if they're not on a schedule) because it's a random trigger kinda like how the Dry Top rare creature mobs were before(more or less). - Doodleplex 23:01, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

What is the timer for the bloodstone-crazed creatures?[edit]

I don't understand the pattern at all. How long does each creature's window last? It would be nice to see an example for at least 2 full cycles, starting from a convenient starting time (as close to server reset time as possible). --175.156.243.239 00:10, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Mentioned here: Levvi's Device#Notes. The article could use a slight improvement, looking at it, but I don't know how to do widget tables to show which bosses are active. Konig (talk) 01:20, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Just to confirm if I understood the notes correctly (all times in server time, starting from daily reset):
1st cycle:
00:00 to 01:00 - only Moa and Devourer can spawn
01:00 to 02:00 - only Arctodus and Shark can spawn
02:00 to 02:30 - only Wyvern can spawn
02:30 to 03:00 - none of the bloodstone-crazed creatures can spawn
2nd cycle:
03:00 to 04:00 - only Moa and Devourer can spawn
04:00 to 05:00 - only Arctodus and Shark can spawn
05:00 to 05:30 - only Wyvern can spawn
05:30 to 06:00 - none of the bloodstone-crazed creatures can spawn
and so on --175.156.243.239 02:17, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

From my understanding of the note, yes. Konig (talk) 02:26, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

World boss timer[edit]

When I search for world boss timer, it finds one. But, then it redirects to here. How do I get to the big table on the timer page? Daddicus (talk) 23:58, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Event timers, or by typing in "ET". —Ventriloquist 00:05, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Karka Queen is "hardcore"?[edit]

The Karka Queen is very easy to defeat. It's basically just face-rolling and maybe some dodges. Should probably be put in a different category. Taylan (talk) 01:11, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Hardcore doesn't necessarily means difficulty, but it is how the 3 world bosses that can be activated by guilds named. Currents events table[edit]

To me, the second row of the world-bosses contains only brackets, not the info.
Not sure if it's my browser or an error

This is a bug caused by the recent wiki maintenance, we're still waiting for a fix. DJemba (talk) 07:21, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Feedback 2021/06/19[edit]

I think it would be useful to show a countdown time (for those on a timer) to the next for each of the events in the full schedule table, or perhaps easier, highlight the current UTC hour on the table. I was in Mount Maelstrom and someone asked when the next golem event would show up. Several folks put 'look at /wiki et'. The person came back a moment later and said it was not there. I checked and it wasn't in the current events table (more than an hour to go) but was on the full schedule. We helped the person with the next time, but the updated table would be nice for numerically challenged players. --Separ (talk) 20:56, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

World boss status[edit]

A counterpoint to Drakkar and Dragonstorm not being considered world bosses is that the Central Tyria boss portal device lists & announces them, but unlike the HoT device it doesn't list or announce any metas.

They're put down there because they don't fit on the main timer, and it'd be sort of redundant just to create a whole section for two encounters. I'll admit the wording isn't the best, though. Sunlion (talk) 09:47, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Feedback 2023/12/26[edit]

Megadestroyer is a Legendary boss.

(easy test: do the event while both Megadestroyer and "kill a legendary ranked enemy" are in the weekly wizards vault cycle. It will trigger both) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.62.221.241 (talk) at 21:59, 26 December 2023 (UTC).

No, it's a champion. If it's triggering the "kill a legendary ranked enemy" that's more likely a bug with the Wizard Vault, as it is not a legendary. - Doodleplex 22:15, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
