The Fissure of Woe, also called the Realm of War, is the realm of Balthazar, the God of War and Fire. In this realm, the God of War and his Eternals are engaged in the Eternal Battle with Menzies and his Shadow Army. The Fissure of Woe is divided into nine known sections and is full of wreckage, battlefields, and fiery landscapes; the sole exception to this is the neutral Forest of the Wailing Lord.

In 1332 AE, the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik, having drained the magical energies of Balthazar, managed to physically enter the Mists. Within, the Elder Dragon feasted on the god realms, growing even more powerful. When the dragon Aurene and the Pact Commander managed to chase down Kralkatorrik after the battle of Thunderhead Keep, many areas from the Fissure of Woe had already been consumed. At the end of their pursuit of the Elder Dragon, a section of the realm, the Burning Forest, fell through Aurene's portal into Tyria and partially buried Kralkatorrik under it. |
