Notes[edit]

  • The additional hits are unaffected by quickness but the initial windup animation still is.
  • This skill gets cancelled if the original target enters stealth and doesn't get revealed between hits.
  • Will not activate if your target moves out of range before the first hit.
  • This skill will stop if the target is on uneven ground (such as a semi-steep hill) or close to a wall. Evasion will continue for the remaining time.
  • Sometimes the cast has longer delay when used affected by immobile or on immobile targets like Entangle effect.
  • The shadowstep range between the multiple hits is very long, and you will continue to teleport to the target foe even if, for example, a Mesmer uses a portal at max range during your attack.
  • This skill hits random targets 450 range from your original target, first and final strikes are always to the targeted opponent.
Using this skill while near a wall may cause the player to become stuck in the wall. Waypoint or use the "/stuck" command to escape.

Patch Changes
February 25, 2020 Competitive content update:
  • (Competitive split) Reduced power coefficient per strike from 0.57 to 0.38. Reduced might duration per strike from 5 seconds to 3 seconds. Increased cooldown from 12 seconds to 15 seconds.
May 14, 2019
  • Reduced might duration from 8 seconds to 5 seconds in PvP and WvW.
  • Fixed a bug that caused this skill to trigger the confusion condition multiple times in a single cast.
July 10, 2018
  • The damage of this skill has been increased by 25% in PvE only.
September 22, 2017 Path of Fire release:
  • Increased damage done by this skill by 10% in PvE game modes.
October 18, 2016
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the ability user from being stunned when initiating an attack against foes with Shocking Aura.
July 26, 2016
  • Weapon power has now been incorporated in this skill's damage.
  • Base damage has been normalized.
January 26, 2016
  • The number of attacks this skill makes has been reduced from 7 to 5.
  • The damage of each strike has been increased by 10%.
  • The strikes from this skill are no longer affected by animation time-scale, as quickness provided no benefit and slow would cause the attack to never hit.
October 23, 2015 Heart of Thorns release:
  • Unrelenting Assault has been added to the game.
